Combo nursery technique is a technique where seedlings/cuttings of Shorea leprosula, Gliricidia sepium, and Brachiaria decumbens grass were planted in one polybag to support mining reclamation. To reduce competition effects among the three species, optimum media and size of polybag need to be investigated. The objective of this experiment is to analyse the effect of size of polybag and media composition on the growth of S. leprosula, G. sepium, and B. decumbens grass in the combo nursery technique. The experiment used Randomised Complete Design in Factorial with two factors, i.e. media compositions (soil : compost (2 : 1, v/v), (1 : 1, v/v), (1 : 2, v/v), and soil : compost : rice husk (7:3:1, v/v/v); and size of polybag (15 x 20 cm, 20 x 20 cm, dan 25 x 25 cm). Each treatment had four replications, and each replication consisted of four polybags. The results showed no significant interaction effects between the composition of media and the size of polybag; however, media compositions of soil: compost (1:1) and (1:2), and the sizes of polybag 20 x 20 cm and 25 x 25 cm significantly eliminated competition and significantly increased the growth of S. leprosula and the number of tiller of B. decumbens grass.

Abstrak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui pengaruh komposisi media tanam dan konsentrasi giberelin serta ada tidaknya interaksi keduanaya terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil bunga mawar (Rosa hybrida L.). Telah dilaksanakan penelitian di Dusun Sumber Rejo, Desa Sei Bamban Kecamatan Batang Serangan Nomor 25, Langkat - Sumatera Utara pada bulan April hingga Agustus 2019. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial 4 x 3 dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama yang diteliti adalah komposisi media tanam (M) yang terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu : M0 (tanah), M1 (tanah + pupuk kandang (1:1)), M2 (tanah + sekam (1:1)), M3   (tanah + pupuk kandang + sekam (1:1:1)) dan faktor kedua adalah konsentrasi giberelin yang terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu : G0 (0 ppm), G1 (200 ppm), G2 (400 ppm) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian ini adalah media tanam berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah cabang umur 30 HST. Komposisi terbaik dijumpai pada perlakuan media tanah+pupuk kandang+sekam.  Giberelin berpengaruh sangat nyata  terhadap panjang cabang umur 30 HST, berpengaruh nyata terhadap  jumlah cabang umur 30, 60 dan 90 HST, dan jumlah helai bunga. Konsentrasi terbaik untuk pertumbuhan mawar dijumpai pada konsentrasi giberelin 400 ppm. Terdapat interaksi yang nyata pada kombinasi perlakuan komposisi media tanam tanah + sekam dengan pemberian konsentrasi 200 ppm terhadap diameter bunga tanaman mawar.  Effect of Growing Media Compotition and Gibberellin Concentration on the Growth and Yield of Rose Plant (Rosa hybrida L.)Abstract.This research aims to find out the influence of the growing media composition and gibbberelline concentration, and their interaction on the growth and yield of rose flower (Rosa hybrida L.). This research had been held at Sumber Rejo village, Sei Bamban, Batang Serangan number 25, Langkat - North Sumatera from March to August 2019. The design used in this study was factorial block randomized with 4x3 factorial pattern and three replications. Design are two factors studied, the first factor is the composition of the planting media (M) which consists of four levels, there were : M0 (soil), M1 (soil + manure (1:1)), M2 (soil + rice husk (1:1)), M3  (soil + manure + rice husk (1:1:1)) and the second factor is concentration of gibberellin that was consist of three levels, that were : G0 (0 ppm), G1 (200 ppm), G2 (400 ppm) and continued with Low Significant Different (LSD) at 5% level. The results of the study shows that the growing media affect significantly the number of branches at the age of 30 DAP. The best composition of the planting media was found in the treatment of soil media + manure + rice husk. Gibberelline concentration affected significantly of the number of branches at the age of 30, 60 and 90 DAP, length of the branches at 30 DAP and the number of flowers. The best concentration for the growth of Rose is 400 ppm an gibberelline concentration. There was interaction strands between the composition of growing media and gibberlline concentration on the diameter of flower on the rose plant on the combination treatment of composition of the soil + rice husk media by giving concentration of 200 ppm.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil identifikasi spesies tanaman rendah yang ditemukan di perkebunan jati di Desa Lamorende, Kecamatan Tongkuno, ditemukan 15 spesies dan 10 famili termasuk Rumput Signal (Brachiaria decumbens), Jukut Pahit (Paspalum conjugatum Berg), Alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica (L.) P. Beauv.) famili Poaceae (Gramineae), Jarong (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (L.) Vahl.) famili Verbenaceae, Harendong (Melastoma affine D. Don) famili Melastomaceae, Kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata (L.) RM King & H. Robinson) famili Asteraceae (Compositae), Tembelekan (Lantana kamara Linn.), Hiptis (Hyptis capitata Jacq.) famili Lamiaceae (Labiatae), Kopi (Coffea arabica) famili Rubiaceae, Paku Harupat Nephrolepis Schott.) famili Oleandraceae, Christella parasitica (L.) Lev famili Thelypteridaceae, Paku Hata (Lygodium circinatum (Burm.) Sw.) famili Schizaeaceae, Putri Malu (Mimosa pud Ica), Gamal (Gliricidia sepium), dan Sentro (Centrosema pubescens Benth.) famili Fabaceae). Tingkat penguasaan (dominasi) spesies tanaman yang lebih rendah pada tegakan jati adalah rendah, sedangkan nilai total indeks keanekaragaman spesies (H') dari tanaman yang lebih rendah di tegakan jati adalah 1,23. Ini menunjukkan bahwa komunitas tumbuhan bawah di lokasi penelitian memiliki tingkat keanekaragaman vegetasi yang cukup berlimpah.

The goal of these preliminary studies is to support Indonesian program for increasing palm oil added value through independent production technology based on Indonesian natural resources. Various palm oil derivatives could be synthesized enzymatically using lipase from microbes that available in Indonesia. Tempe's mould is available in abundance in Indonesia and had already been proved for producing lipase. This paper provides information about producing crude lipase from Tempe's mould cultivated in rice-husk-based solid media using palm oil as carbon source. Observed variables include solid media composition, optimum fermentation time, extraction and enriching process of crude lipase. The crude lipase was analyzed its hydrolysis activity on coconut oil and palm oil. The result of these preliminary studies shows that this production process is a simple and tough process and very potential to be developed.   Keywords: lipase, Tempe's mould, palm oil, solid fermentation, rice husk

CRA1008 Background: S0221 is a SWOG-coordinated phase III adjuvant chemotherapy intergroup trial in node-positive and high-risk node-negative operable breast cancer which hypothesized that 1) the weekly AC+G regimen is superior to ddAC x 6 and 2) 12 weeks of weekly paclitaxel (wP) is superior to q 2 week paclitaxel x 6 (ddP). Methods: Between December 2003 and November 2010, 2,716 patients were randomized in a 2 x 2 factorial design to 1) AC+G vs ddAC and 2) P 80 mg/m2/week x 12 vs P 175 mg/m2 q 2 weeks x 6. If there was no significant interaction between the factors, the trial was powered to find a disease-free survival hazard ratio (HR) ≤ 0.82 for weekly vs q 2 week for each factor. At the first interim analysis, the AC randomization was halted for futility, and S0221 was closed to accrual 10 November 2010. S0221 reopened 15 December 2010, after which time all patients received 4 cycles of ddAC and randomization to P weekly x 12 and ddP x 6 continued. Accrual halted at a total of 3,294 in January 2012. Results: By September 7, 2012, 487 events and 340 deaths had occurred, prompting the third planned interim analysis. The Data Safety and Monitoring Committee recommended reporting the results since the futility boundary was crossed. A Cox model adjusting for the AC arms had a HR = 1.08 (95% CI 0.90-1.28; p=0.42), with the 99.5% CI excluding the original alternative hypothesis that the HR=0.82. There was no significant interaction of the two factors. Estimated 5-year progression-free survivals were 82% for weekly P and 81% for ddP. Toxicity data were available for 1,385 patients treated with ddP and 1,367 treated with weekly P. Grade 5 toxicity occurred in 4 patients on ddP and 2 on weekly P. Percent grade 3-4 toxicity per arm are shown in the Table. Conclusions: Either ddPx6 or weekly P x 12 are acceptable schedules of P administration. The differences in leukopenia likely reflect ascertainment bias against weekly P. If this is accepted, weekly P x 12 produces less overall toxicity than 6 cycles of ddP. Asian-born Chinese and Caucasian American men and women were compared on attitudes toward women, using the Spence-Helmreich Attitude Toward Women Scale. All subjects—74 Americans, 85 Chinese—were between 30 and 55 years of age and had at least a bachelor's degree. Chinese subjects were Mandarin in origin. The prediction that Chinese subjects would be more liberal was not confirmed. Women were more liberal than men on two factors: first, vocational, educational, and intellectual roles; second, marital relations and obligations. Ethnic differences were not a main effect on other factors but a significant interaction was obtained in three factors: freedom and independence; dating, courting, and etiquette; and drinking, swearing, and telling jokes. On these factors Caucasian females scored in the liberal direction and so did Chinese males. Caucasian males and Chinese females were consistently and significantly more conservative.

1. Four groups of weanling rats were maintained on diets containing either 0.12% or 0.24% of both calcium and phosphorus, in the presence and absence of added ergocalciferol. 2. Increase in mineral intake or the provision of vitamin D increased the final body-weight, with a significant interaction between the two factors. 3. Serum Ca and P concentrations were raised significantly by both the vitamin and the increase in mineral intake without signi ficant interaction. 4. Measurements were made of bone and tooth weights and ash values and of the length of the humeri. For only two measurements was there any interaction between the effect of vitamin D and increase in mineral intake, namely the length of the humeri, and their ash values expressed as a percentage of the dry fat-free weight. 5. It is concluded that in relation to the amount of mineral deposited, the incisor tooth is more resistant to nutritional stress than is the bone.

<p style="text-align: justify;">The objectives of this research was to know the effect of growing media composition and concentration level of GA3, on growth of Sansevieria trifaciata Prain ‘Laurentii’ shoots. The research was conducted at Leuwikopo Experiment Field, IPB, Darmaga from March until July 2011. The research used Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factors and three replications, Sansevieria trifaciata Prain ‘Laurentii’ variegata leafs used in this research. The first factor was growing medium composition, they were charcoal husk:soil:compos (1:2:1); pasir malang:soil:compos (2:2:1); cocopeat:soil:compos (3:2:1). The second factor was concentration of GA3 treatment consist of three level, 0 ppm; 100 ppm; 500 ppm. Charcoal husk and pasir malang gave good effect for growth of young shoots. Concentration of GA3 until 500 ppm had no significant effect on young shoot growth but it had significant effect on roots growth. The best interaction treatment effect on young shoots growth was charcoal husk medium and 500 ppm concentration of GA3.</p><p>Keywords: charcoal husk, cocopeat, leaf cutting, pasir malang</p>

<p>This research aimed to study the effect of kinds of culture media composition added with organic matter (soya bean extract, corn extract and fish emulsion) and PGR concentration to the growth of each cross breed orchid explants. Research was conducted in Plant Physiology and Biotechnology Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta from March 2009 until the end. This research was done in Randomized Completely Design with two factors of treatment and four replications. The first factor was media and organic matter, consist of 3 levels: soya bean extract, corn extract and fish emulsion. The second factor was atonik concentration, consist of 3 levels: 0 cc/l, 0.5 cc/l and 1 cc/l. The research concluded that for the explants of crossing (Phalaeonopsis pinlong cinderela ♀ &gt;&lt; Phalaeonopsis joanekileup June” ♂) two treatment of corn extract affected significantly to the root emergence time (21.33 ) and member of root (1,92 day after planting) The treatment of fish emulsion affected significantly to the root length (2,82 cm), number of root (1,92) and produced the longest leaf. The treatment of Atonik increased the number of leaf and root.</p>

The factors affect the success of cuttings is composition of planting media and position of planting materials. The experiment aims to determine response growth dragon fruit seeds on various composition of planting media. It was conducted in the field of research Agriculture Faculty, North Sumatra University, Medan with the height about 32 meters above sea level on April to August 2016. The design used factorial randomized block design with two factors and three repetitions. The first factor is part of the stem cuttings with three variety i.e. bottom stem, center stem, top stem and the second factor is planting media with four variety i.e. sand 100%, sand 50% + sludge 50%, sand 50% + empty palm fruit bunches (EPFB) 50%, sand 50% + sludge 25% + EPFB 25%. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan’s multiple range test (DMRT). The results showed that part of the stem cuttings hasn’t effect to all observation parameters.The best planting media composition is present in the treatment sand 50% + sludge 25% + EPFB 25%. Interaction about both of factors hasn’t effect to all observation parameters.
