Adolescence is a critical age of change and experiencing, so the influence of social factors in it is very important. The main focus of this research is precisely the elaboration of a negative phenomenon that is very expressed to Kosovar youth, such as smoking. The purpose of the paper is to present how much smoking is present, the factors that influence how much they are aware of the damage they cause, and to make a comparison between the students of two high schools about smoking. Quantitative research was conducted in two high schools in Kosovo including students aged 15-18, both sexes. The realization of the research is done directly with the students. We used the method of theoretical analysis, comparative method and statistical method, as well as questionnaire technique. The main factors affecting smoking are the society, the family, and the personal, also other problems. Based on our research, we can say that this phenomenon is not as worrying as a small number of people consume smoking dominating more males than females. The family (parents) according to them are the main responsibility for preventing this negative phenomenon, then health services, and fewer schools and society.

Abstract Background: Transfer of knowledge from academia to business is one of the crucial issues for creating innovation. Creation of university spin-offs could significantly improve this transfer. Objectives: The main scientific aim is to examine the differences between universities in European countries and identify factors affecting the probability of creating the university spin-off. The paper is also focused on the differences in the specialization and financial sources of universities. Methods/Approach: We compare selected indicators for higher education institutions in European countries and examine potential determinants affecting the probability of academic spin-off formation. With respect to the main aim, the logit and probit regression analyses have been used. Results: Our results show that the creation of spin-offs is typical on the one hand for highly specialized universities or on the other hand for universities with a wide variety of study programs. They should also have an optimum number of doctoral students and have mostly less funding from tuition fees. Conclusions: Several indicators appear to play an important role in the formation of university spin-off. These indicators are the level of specialization, the share of tuition fees in the University budget, and the share of Ph.D. and foreign students.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the factors affecting the student's expected tuition fees in the context that most public universities in Vietnam are not financially self-sufficient, given the relatively limited state budget. That is why public universities are interested in the expected tuition fees of students so that they can change their policies accordingly in allocating available resources. Enhance its competitive position with universities with similar tuition fees. This competition contributes to improving the quality of the whole higher education system. The study identifies the factors affecting the tuition policies in public higher education through the quantitative research method by analyzing questionnaires collected from 250 students from 6 public universities in Vietnam. The results show that the factors affecting tuition fees of public higher education in Vietnam are: (1) Lecturers (L), (2) Curriculums (Cr), (3) Student skills (Ss), (4) Teaching methods (Tm), (5) Facilities (F), (6) Curriculums content (Cc), (7) Course structure (Cs). Based on research results, the study also proposes solutions to improve tuition policies to support learners at public universities in Vietnam.

Nanomanipulation based on atomic force microscope is one of the key technologies for nanomanufacturing. It plays important role in practical fabrication of nanodevices. In this paper, nanomanipulation method is used to build a structure in nanometer scale. A basic pattern made up of single-wall carbon nanotube on silicon substrate was successfully obtained by sophisticated manipulations, and thus provides an effective way to make more complicated nanostructures. In the meantime, experiments results also show a promising prospect to build future nanodevices step by step using this technique. Carbon nanotubes are selected as the raw materials for nanofabrication due to their excellent mechanical and electrical properties, which are the most suitable for the application in building nano-electromechanical systems (NEMS). In addition, the major failure modes of nanomanipulation experiments were also analyzed by FED-SEM observation. The main factors affecting the final manipulation results, wear and pollution of tips, and their corresponding relations between tips and experiment results were analyzed. Furthermore, the preventive measurements were proposed in order to get better results. A new method for measuring manipulating forces was explored in the experiments based on a commercial AFM (Atom Force Microscope). Lateral forces while manipulating and cutting a single-walled carbon nanotube was successfully measured that providing valuable information for quantitative research on nanomechanics.

This paper presents a model that can be used to predict the yearly load in district heating systems some years ahead. To demonstrate the model, data from Reykjavik, Iceland, were used in the analysis. The model is based on the three main factors affecting the consumption. The first factor is the increase in the number of houses, called the connected volume, that need to be heated. The trend in the volume during the last decade forms the basis for predicting future values using regression analysis. The second factor is the climate, which is an important factor since approximately 85-90 per cent of the hot water consumption is weather dependent. The estimated variability in the weather is based on data for the period from 1949 to 1999 using bootstrap techniques. The third factor is the behaviour of the consumers, which is analysed by looking at past consumption values after isolating the effect of the first two factors from the consumption. A prediction of the consumption is obtained given some values of each of the three factors. This process is repeated several hundred times, and from those values an estimate of the expected consumption is obtained. Furthermore, the two-sided (100 — α) per cent confidence interval for the consumption is determined by cutting off α/2 per cent of the lowest and highest predicted consumption values.
