Abstract: Oral health is still a problem in Indonesia, including Manado. General sources of dental health problems are closely related to the behavior of dental and oral hygiene maintenance. Although Dental Health Education (DHE) could change the bad behavior, it still depends on the media or educational tools. This study aimed to analyze the differences in the effectiveness of DHE with booklet and flipchart media on the improvement of dental health knowledge of students in SDN 126 Manado. This was a quasi experiment with two group pre-test post-test design. Samples were students of SDN 126 aged 8-10 years obtained by using total sampling method. The samples were divided into two treatment groups: booklet media and flip chart media. Data were statistically analyzed by using the Mann-Whitney test with a confidence level of 95% (p<0.05). The results showed that in improving dental health knowledge of students the DHE using booklet media had a p-value = 0.025 and the DHE using flip chart media had a p-value = 0.008. The statistical test comparing the effectiveness of DHE using both media showed a p-value = 0.688. Conclusion: DHE using booklet media was as effective as DHE using flip chart media in improving the oral health knowledge of students of SDN 126 Manado. Keywords: DHE, booklet media, flipchart media, students’ knowledgeAbstrak: Kesehatan gigi dan mulut hingga kini masih menjadi masalah di Indonesia, termasuk di kota Manado. Culture affects every part of our lives, every day, from birth to death, and everything in between (Cateora, Gilly, and Graham 2011). This study discusses the way in which customers acceptance of cultures and products has been greatly affected by the media. This study also investigates how customers acceptance leads to attitudinal and behavioral changes. In particular, this study measures the impact of a cultural wave to examine the attitudinal and behavioral changes it causes. This study explores the causes that affect the willingness of people to change their behavior after exposure to the media. In particular, this study investigates 1) how a cultural wave influences product and cultural awareness, 2) the relationship between perceptions of a cultural wave and peoples attitudes and behavior, and 3) the relationship between the strength of peoples attitudes toward acculturation and changes in attitude and behavior. By applying various statistical analyses, this study identifies managerial and theoretical implications.

This study was conducted with experimental methods in the category of Pre-test-Post-test Control Group Design. This study selected two groups, namely class experiment and control class. Learning carried out in the experimental group using teaching aids is the media that builds the Bamboo room while the control group teaches the teaching process using the conventional (normal) method. The results of the t test show that the average scores of the experimental class and the control class post-test are very significant differences. This means that the use of Bamboo Beams media has an effectiveness towards improving student learning outcomes.

One of the ways to overcome dental and oral health problems is by brushing teeth, the optimal result of brushing teeth properly is the morning after breakfast and the night before going to bed. Tooth brushing using toothbrushes is a form of dental plaque removal and prevention of accumulation of the teeth and gingival surface because plaque is the main etiological factor of periodontal disease and is associated with dental caries, therefore in removing plaque it is very important to determine long-term success in preventing caries tooth. Through the promotion of dental health education, it is expected to increase knowledge and foster awareness of the importance of toothbrushes to maintain healthy teeth and mouth. The purpose of this study is to recognize the differences in the influence of dental health education promotion using blog videos (vlog) with lecture methods on the practice of brushing teeth. This type of research is a Quasi-experiment with the design of the Two-Group Design. Samples were taken by purposive sampling namely SD Panghegar and SD Sukarela. Univariate and bivariate analysis with Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. This study shows the promotion of dental health education using vlog and lectures has an effect on increasing the practice of brushing teeth. It can be seen that there is an increase in the practice of brushing teeth from the value of pre-test and post-test respectively with a value of p 0.05. But based on statistical tests there is no significant difference in influence by using both methods with a value of p = 0.035. This means that both methods are effective in increasing knowledge about the practice of brushing teeth, and there is no significant difference between the promotion of dental health education using vlogs and using lectures.
