Background / Purpose: Awakening the “Sensible” Being (ASB) is a formative practice geared toward care giving and support. It examines how experiencing one’s own body and its movement stimulates the development of self-awareness and awareness of others, both of which are desirable qualities for healthcare professionals. To our knowledge there is no theoretical model regarding the process that occurs and its potential effects on participants.Based on our research with physicians having undergone ASB training, we developed such a preliminary model. Methods: Grounded theory was used for a secondary analysis of thesis data (Lachance 2016). This analysis was inspired by the relationship between learning and caring (Honoré 1992, 2003) and the integration of consciousness according to Newman’s (1990, 1997) concept of health. Results: The model is one of concentric circles. ASB training fosters the development of an internal dialogue in individuals (center of the model) which has effects on their personal life and by ricochet, their professional activities (periphery of the model). Their expanded sense of self-awareness and quality of “savoir-être” brought on by the training contributes to their impression of “feeling whole” and provides them with a quality of presence that influences the type of care they can provide to their patients by considering the individual as a whole. Conclusion: Behind a physician, there is a human being with human qualities enabling them to be a better physician. Our model underlines the importance of developing the inner self as a background to becoming a better health professional.

 Health does not arise from health care. Perhaps we are facing an impasse and should we reconsider and reconceptualize the mandate of the health system. In order to improve our influence on the culture that often prevails in our institutions as well as the health of those institutions. This article examines the changes to the mandate of the health system seen in the light of self-transformations. This vision is based on a model that illustrates the transformations experienced by physicians following a mind-body training, i.e. Awakening the Sensible Being (ASB). The model shows the transformation process reported by physicians, after experiencing self-awareness of what they are doing, through experiencing the ASB, while developing a closer relationship with themselves. As it turned out, the training was beneficial for their health. Their expanded sense of self-awareness and quality of “savoir-être” brought on by the training contributes to their impression of “feeling whole” and provides them with a quality of presence that influences the type of care they can provide to their patients by considering the individual as a whole. This point of view could bring about a shift in the mandate of the health system and improve the health of caregivers and care-receivers as well, while contributing to widen the concept of health.

A disabled person in a company is affected by a number of various environmental conditions. Among these the most important are such as organizational, technical, social, economic and, finally, legal working conditions. The standard and quality of the just mentioned conditions determine significantly the way in which a disabled person performs the assigned tasks and duties in the company and it also helps to create the individual sense of self-fulfillment and work satisfaction. What is more, at the same time the level of environmental conditions influences directly work efficiency and profits of the company. It must be clearly stated that working conditions do not appear immediately and spontaneously - they need careful planning and modern organization. This research paper presents the environmental conditions and discusses a model design of the work organization for the disabled people.

Abstract:This article aims to do two things. First, it argues that moralization of health occurs not only at the practical level of individual healthcare choices and health states, but also at the conceptual level of health itself. This is most evident in cases where the concept of health is presumed to possess the property of “overridingness” when compared to competing values and norms, that is, when it is treated as taking precedence over other values and norms it may come into conflict with. Second, the article makes a case for being critically skeptical of specific deployments of the concept of health when it has been moralized in this way. In such cases, what typically results is that some other personal value/norm, or set of values/norms, held by the individual is treated as intrinsically at odds with the concept of health, which is presumed, uncritically, to be superior, often because it is taken to be free-standing and self-justifying. Yet, a growing body of evidence-based research suggests that the role played by dimensions of personal meaningfulness in the quality of individuals’ overall health is quite underappreciated. It is useful to think of these dimensions of personal meaning and significance as representing the individual’s values. Thus, taking these data more seriously ought to lead to a reevaluation of the moralization of health at the conceptual level. In the first place, it is not obvious that if the concept of health runs afoul of other values/norms held by an individual, the latter should automatically yield. In the second place, they suggest that other values/norms held by an individual are not necessarily intrinsically opposed to the concept of health, but in fact may go a good distance in support of it.

Background: Developed in Europe in the 1980’s, somatic psychopedagogy (SPP) is a formative practice geared toward care giving and support. Characterized as a type of mind-body medicine, it examines how the use of the body and its movement allows for the development of one’s conscience, one’s sense of self and of others, which are all desirable qualities for professionals within the health care sector.Purpose: To explore if and how SPP training followed by nurses modifies their perception of the quality of their self awareness, their presence in regard to others, as well as their relationship with respect to health and their professional practice.Methods: Qualitative research based on two types of semi-structured interviews: comprehensive and elicitation. Exploratory interviews with three nurses trained (or in training) in SPP. The content of the interviews was first analyzed thematically then grouped by categories.Findings: The three participants perceived a change in the quality of their presence with respect to themselves and to others as well as changes within the nature of their relationships with their patients, colleagues and healthcare team members. Content analysis of the interviews has allowed us to conclude that relationships with the health care team evolved into a better ability to give recognition and a better quality of interaction between members. Participants also reported an increased ability to express their opinions in both their personal and professional lives. A second level of analysis has allowed for the identification of differences between nurses just finishing their first year of training and those having completed the full four-year course.Conclusion: Interesting transformations are reported at different levels confirming the relevance of a second phase of the project. The latter will permit to identify whether physicians trained in SPP experience changes similar to those of the nurses, and if so, whether they perceive these as having an impact on their practice.

This study examines the interconnectedness between absorption, inner speech, self, and psychopathology. Absorption involves an intense focus and immersion in mental imagery, sensory/perceptual stimuli, or vivid imagination that involves decreased self-awareness and alterations in consciousness. In psychosis, the dissolution and permeability in the demarcation between self and one's sensory experiences and perceptions, and also between self-other and/or inter-object boundaries alter one's sense of self. Thus, as the individual integrates these changes new “meaning making” or understanding evolves as part of an ongoing inner dialogue and dialogue with others. This study consisted of 117 participants: 81 participants with psychosis and 36 controls. We first conducted a bivariate correlation to elucidate the relationship between absorption and inner speech. We next conducted hierarchical multiple regressions to examine the effect of absorption and inner speech to predict psychopathology. Lastly, we conducted a network analysis and applied extended Bayesian Information Criterion to select the best model. We showed that in both the control and psychosis group dialogic and emotional/motivational types of inner speech were strongly associated with absorption subscales, apart from the aesthetic subscale in the control group which was not significant, while in psychosis, condensed inner speech was uniquely associated with increased imaginative involvement. In psychosis, we also demonstrated that altered consciousness, dialogic, and emotional/motivational inner speech all predicted positive symptoms. In terms of network associations, imaginative involvement was the most central, influential, and most highly predictive node in the model from which all other nodes related to inner speech and psychopathology are connected. This study shows a strong interrelatedness between absorption, inner speech and psychosis thus identifying potentially fertile ground for future research and directions, particularly in the exploration into the underlying construct of imaginative involvement in psychotic symptoms.

Motivation is one of the most important factors (along with abilities, knowledge, skills and abilities) that ensures the success of music teaching. Becoming a successful teacher of art disciplines is closely related to the internal needs of his self-realization in professional activities, self-awareness in this state. The pedagogical profession requires from the teacher the formed need for artistic and educational activity, awareness of its importance for the spiritual development of society; high level of ideological, humanitarian and aesthetic culture; developed professional and pedagogical abilities, deep professional knowledge and skills, experience of artistic and creative pedagogical activity. The artistic needs of students arise and develop in the process of music-educational activities, which should be based on their positive emotional attitude to it. It is proved that in the process of educational activity a system of mental actions of reproductive and productive nature is formed, which is self-regulated and self-organized by the individual. Any activity, and in this case educational, is affected by certain incentives that become the driving force of student activity. Such incentives are needs, interests, beliefs, values, ideals, forming the motivation to learn. Along with the abilities, knowledge, and skills that ensure the success of teaching, motivation also includes emotional and value attitudes, sustained interest and inclination of the future teacher to pedagogical work; the need for active influence on the moral and emotional, intellectual and volitional spheres of the student's personality.

This chapter explores subjective and objective correlates of the state of Yoga during Transcendental Meditation practice. Yoga fits the three criteria of a higher state of consciousness: (1) Yoga has a different subject/object relationship than other states. In Yoga there is no content—only self-awareness. (2) Yoga involves a more expanded sense-of-self. Content analysis of descriptions of Yoga yielded three themes: the absence of time, absence of space and absence of body sense. Yoga is the most universal aspect of the individual. (3) Yoga is defined by distinct physiological patterns. Slowing of breath, autonomic orienting and frontal alpha1 brain coherence are reported during the state of Yoga. The integration of Yoga with waking, sleeping and dreaming also fits the criteria for being a higher state of consciousness, called Cosmic Consciousness in the Vedic tradition. The chapter ends with the conclusion that growth of higher states of consciousness is the most important result of experiencing the state of Yoga. Then, life is lived in freedom.

Background: Schizophrenia is a severe disorder that typically begins in late adolescence or early adulthood and characterized by profound disruption in thinking and perception, affecting language, thought, perception and sense of self. The consequences of the illness for the individual affected, his or her family, and society in general are devastating. Caring of individual with schizophrenia is a big challenge for caregivers. During care giving of individual with schizophrenia caregiver has started to avoid his health care, family responsibility, job as well as social interaction with friends, neighbours and relatives. Individual’s illness creates many problems for caregivers in community. Social support largely depends on the family’s reaction to illness, if they are rejecting, intolerant of dependence, or unsympathetic to the needs of the patients, then they may offer too little support. Aim: The aim of the study is to assess and compare the social support of male and female care givers of patients suffering from schizophrenia. Methods: The present study was a hospital based cross sectional comparative study among the male and female caregivers of Schizophrenia. Purposive sampling technique was used and sample size consists of a total of 60 caregivers of patients with Schizophrenia 30 male caregivers of patients with Schizophrenia and 30 female caregivers of patients with schizophrenia. Results & Conclusion: There was no significant found between the two groups. Hence we can conclude that social support is almost equal in male and female caregiver. Care givers of patients suffering from schizophrenia face the similar circumstances.

Introduction. The article for the first time structures the types of additional responsibilities of teachers, not underpinned by local regulations. The proposals for debureaucratization of the educational process in secondary schools are generalized. The aim of the study is to reveal the impact of bureaucratic burden on the social feeling of teachers of general secondary education facilities, the quality of their professional activities and to develop proposals for debureaucratization of teachers’ work. Materials and Methods. A survey of managers and teachers of educational institutions covered more than 3,000 respondents. As additional sources for the interpretation of the data, we used the methods of group interviews (two focus groups conducted among rural teachers), as well as a secondary analysis of data from the international study of the educational environment and working conditions of secondary school teachers (TALIS), conducted in 48 countries, including Russia. Results. The study broadened the idea of the impact of bureaucratization of the education system on the quality of professional activity and the social well-being of teachers. Intensification of bureaucratization of teacher work is attributed, on the one hand, to the extensive growth of additional types of work, and on the other, to the low legal awareness of teachers of educational institutions. Working with reporting documentation takes up to 90 % of the working time free from paid teaching ho urs, which practically does not leave time for the implementation of part of the pedagogical load associated with methodological, organizational and consulting activities. The study identifies activities that, according to respondents, contribute to the debureaucratization of teachers’ work. Discussion and Conclusion. The article is of interest to teachers and heads of educational organizations, regional educational authorities, and scientists, researching i nto educational problems.

The article deals with the problem of forming a tolerant consciousness. The purpose of the study is to assess the degree of expression of students ' own tolerance during the period of training in educational organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The research methods used were theoretical and comparative analysis, generalization, interpretation and reinterpretation of scientific data, existing practice; empirical methods: conversation, survey, method of expert assessments. The study sample consisted of cadets and students of higher educational organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia (94 respondents aged 18 to 22 years, 63 men and 31 women). The problems of forming a tolerant consciousness, the structure of tolerance, the importance of tolerance in the professional activities of police officers, as well as in the process of their training and professional development are considered. The results of the study of the degree of self-tolerance among cadets of educational organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia are presented. It is shown that despite a fairly high level of tolerance, the main problem point for cadets is the formation and development of their active life position. An adequate level of tolerance of cadets is an indicator not only of the social maturity of the individual, but also indicates the formation of their professional self-awareness. The obtained results and conclusions are relevant for the organization of psychological work in the internal affairs bodies.
