Background: Nursing is a Noble profession which is progressive and modernizing; As per need of the situation from a delivering baby and up to the dressing of injured it comes up with various specialties with high qualification of PhDs Nurses. The year 2019 was announced by the Honorable President of republic of Pakistan as Nurses year, keeping in view WHO has announced 2020 the year of Nursing and Midwifery. Authors have explored contributing factors for the selection of the nursing profession particularly and the motivation for future career in nursing. Methods: A cross sectional descriptive study was conducted at rural district of Sindh which includes first year students of three nursing schools through structured questionnaire. Study duration was from October 2016 to February 2017. Sample of 91 participants collected through universal sampling technique (all available population was selected at study area). Results: Respondent’s family has a good image of nursing 62(68.1%) participants were strongly agreed. Response of really want to see their self as a nurse 68(74.7%) participants were strongly agreed. Study showed many factors for taking admission in nursing 54(59.3%) participants responded their parents, Numerous personal factors like admiration nursing profession 58(63.7%) 68(74.7%) believed that they are caring for others. Many of them were enrolled due to the attraction of broad opportunities in nursing 45(49.5%). Conclusion: According to our study findings most of the students chose nursing profession as an alternate but not their first choice, many personal, professional and financial factors attracted the students to get enrolled in nursing.

One of the principles of higher education is freedom in choosing a study program based on the student’s interests and abilities. These elements influence the student’s decisions in choosing a college/university. School of Health Sciences Panakkukang, one of the tertiary institutions organizing the D-3 Medical Records and Health Information (RMIK) Study Programs, is becoming an increasingly popular choice. This can be seen from the number of students enrolled (214 in 2016, 225 in 2017, 177 in 2018, and 122 in 2019). The students’ decision to choose the Study Program is influenced by cultural, social and personal factors. This study’s objective is to determine the effect of these factors on the selection of Study Programs. This research uses a descriptive analytic quantitative approach with a cross-sectional research design. The study population was 524 students with a sample of 84 respondents taken proportionally (20 first-year students, 28 second-year students and 36 thirdyear students). The results showed that the cultural and personal factors did not significantly influence the selection of D-3 RMIK Study Programs with sig. cultural factors of 0.595> 0.05, personal factors with sig. of 0.197> 0.05. While the social factors significantly influence the selection of D-3 RMIK Study Programs with sig. of 0.000 <0.05. The cultural, social and personal factors have a combined effect of 33.8%.   Keywords: cultural, social, personal factors.

AbstractBackgroundTo reduce the magnitude of antimicrobial resistance, there is a need to change the knowledge and behavior of future prescribers regarding use and prescription of antibiotics. This can be ensured through the appropriate training of next generation doctors and medical students. But, before planning or strengthening any teaching or training program for any group, it is required to have a conclusive evidence about knowledge, attitude and practices of that group. With this background this study was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitudes and the practices of medical students in India with respect to antibiotic resistance and usageMethodsIt was a cross-sectional study which was done online through google forms. A semi-structured questionnaire containing a five point Likert scale was used for the data collection. The questionnaire was sent to medical students across India by sharing link through contacts of Medical Students Association of India. Respondent-driven sampling technique was also adopted for the study. Data was analyzed using SPSS v.25 and Microsoft Excel 2016.ResultsThe overall mean score of awareness for the students was 4.36 + 0.39. As compared to first year students, mean score of awareness was significantly higher among students of all the years. A significantly better awareness was also observed among pre final year students as compared to other years. Variable practices have been observed regarding use of antibiotics among medical students.ConclusionThe awareness level of medical students regarding antibiotics and its resistance was quite satisfactory. As far as attitude and practices are concerned, there is a significant need for improvements.

Background: Nursing students are important human resources in the field of health. Detection of potential anxiety and stress among nursing students is crucial since anxiety and stress can lead to low productivity, low quality of life, and suicidal ideas. Identifying factors affecting anxiety and stress in initial period of college among nursing students can help nursing educators to find ways to decrease anxiety and stress. Objectives: To assess the anxiety and stress among B.Sc. nursing first year students in their initial college life. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive research design was used for this study. Consecutive sampling technique was used to select the subjects. Total 13 students (100%) were taken as a sample and standardized Beck anxiety scale and modified scale for academic stress was used to collect data. Results: The study shows that majority of the students, 8 (61.5%) were in the age of 18 years old, follows Hindu religion, 10 (76.9%) belonged to upper caste, 11 (84.6%) stayed in urban area, 7 (53.8%) had no difficulty in this college. Out of 13, 2 (15.4%) students had moderate anxiety and 11 (84.60%) had low level of anxiety with 1.15 ±0.37 whereas 6 (46%) students had mild stress and 7 (54%) had moderate level of stress with 1.53 ±0.51. There were no significant association of anxiety score and stress score with age, ethnicity, residence, feeling difficulties in the college with p < 0.05; 6 (46%). There was low positive correlation between anxiety and academic stress with rp = 0.395. It was found that the cause of anxiety was due to college environment, seniors ragging, difficult subjects, delay session and can be reduced by stopping seniors ragging, providing transportation, starting session on time, counselling, providing lunch in canteen, friendly environment, free hours for library. Conclusions: Students who are newly taking admission to nursing profession will have mild form of psychological variation. Students are mainly faced with practical and academic stressors and anxiety. Hence the study strongly suggests that, starting session on time, time management, avoid ragging, student counselling are the most important factors to reduce anxiety and academic stress to the newly admitted students.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the knowledge and awareness regarding cervical cancer and its prevention among nurses working in different hospitals of Quetta, Pakistan. Methodology: The cross sectional, descriptive study was conducted by using structured questionnaire in different hospitals of Quetta from January to September 2016. Convenient sampling technique was applied by targeting all the nurses working in different hospitals of Quetta city. Study questionnaire was developed and tested for validity and reliability. Descriptive and inferential statistics (Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis tests, p<0.05) were used to assess the significance among study variables and were performed by using IBM SPSS v.20. Results: Out of 415 distributed questionnaires 324 were returned (response rate of 78%). The mean Age of respondents was 28.18 ±9.5 years. Majority (n=127, 43.3%) of participants were interns and had no or less than one year of experience (n=128, 43.7%) with negative family history of any cancer (n=275, 93.9%). Mean knowledge score was 18.52±4.84with majority (n=258, 88.1%) had adequate knowledge regarding cervical cancer. Respondent sage, current area of practice, qualification, Institute of degree and past family history were contributing factors (p > 0.05) in adequate knowledge in this study. The results also reviled that not only 68.3% (n=200) and 65.5% (n=192) respondents knew that cervical cancer is vaccine preventable and availability of the vaccine for it. Conclusions: Nurses working in different hospitals of Quetta city had better understanding of the disease cervical cancer and its prevention. Yet many of the respondent are not aware of it vaccine and its availability.

<p class="Normal1"><em>Commitment is the attitude or behavior of likes or dislikes shown by someone against the organization at work. Indonesia is recorded as a nurse who has a low organizational commitment (76%) so it harms services. This phenomenon in the hospital can be seen from the indicator of the high turnover rate of nurses which reaches 30.9% which exceeds the standard &lt;5%. Many factors affect organizational commitment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Personal Factors Associated with Organizational Commitment of Hospital Nurses. This study is a cross-sectional analytic study and purposive sampling technique with a sample of 59 nurses. Chi-Square test results obtained personal factors that have a relationship with organizational commitment Nurse Hospital is age with p = 0,000 and education with p = 0,000, personal factors not related to organizational commitment are gender p = 1,053 and years of service with p = 1,147. Hospitals should conduct research/surveys on Organizational Commitment periodically as an evaluation material in the context of the organization's development and development in the future</em>.</p>

The aim of this research was to find out the ability of the first year students in speaking by using storytelling at MAS. Al-Jam’iyatul Wasliyah. The design of this research was descriptive research. The population of this research was 20 students of XC class in the first grade at MAS. Al-Jam’iyatul Wasliyah. In selecting the sample the writer used random sampling technique. The total number of the sample was 12 students. The data was collected by using oral test. The researcher only measured the ability of students’ speaking in storytelling by considering five components of speaking: (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension). And their speaking had been recorded by using phone recorder. From the result of analyzing the data, the researcher found that the students’ speaking ability by using storytelling was moderate. It proved by the fact that 4 students (33.33%) classified as high ability, 4 students (33.33%) classified as moderate ability, and 4 students (33.33%) classified as low ability. Based on the data, the students’ score were bigger in the high and moderate level than in the low ability level. Based on the research finding, the English teacher is suggested to consider the five components in scoring speaking ability (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension). The students are suggested to do more practice in pronunciation and fluency, because they dominantly speak incorrect pronunciation and have pauses in the sentences. Students are also suggested to enrich their vocabulary by using storytelling.

This study took place at a medical college with 57 Arabic first-year students taking an intensive English course. The aim was to address the problems that learners experience when using the English tenses properly. The didactic model was developed and implemented in the study group only (27 students). Pre, mid-, and post-tests were administered to study and control groups at three points in time. The model is a selection of aspects from different methods combined aiming to lead participants to a higher level of linguistic competence in terms of language awareness, reading and writing skills, and vocubulary building. The results indicated statistically significant differences in the post-test between the two groups over time regarding the level of linguistic competence.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was categorized into three. First, to describe the effective sentence mastery of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Second, to describe the writing skills of a exposition of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Third, to describe the contribution of the effective sentence mastery into the writing skills of a exposition text made by the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang. The design of this research was quantitative with a descriptive method. Then, this study also was a correlational design. The population of this study was the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang for about 498 students. The sample of this study was taken by using a proportional random sampling technique (15%), which was 70 students. The data of this study were the results of effective sentence mastery and the results of the writing skill of a exposition text. The instrument of this study was an objective test to measure effective sentence mastery and performance tests to measure expositon text. There were several results of this study. First, the effective sentence mastery of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang was in Good qualifications (B). Second, the writing skills of a exposition of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang was in a Good qualification (B). Third, describe the effective sentence mastery contributed 82,00% to the exposition text writing skills of the first year students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Kata Kunci: kontribusi, penguasaan kalimat efektif,  keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi

Background: Considering the remarkable role of students in society and the relatively high prevalence of breast cancer in women, this study aimed to determine the factors related to adopting preventive behaviors for breast cancer in students.Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study. The study population consisted of 375 female students of Qazvin city, who were selected by stratified random sampling during the year 2019. Data collection tools included a demographic and contextual questionnaire and a valid and reliable questionnaire for measuring breast cancer preventive behaviors. Data were analyzed using SPSS 23 software program, descriptive statistics and logistic regression.Results: Using there was a statistically significant relationship between adopting preventive behaviors against breast cancer and physical activity (P <0.001), so that the chances of adopting good preventive behaviors in students with "occasionally", "rarely" and "never" physical activity were respectively 0.410, 0.113, and 0.098 times chance for the students with daily physical activity. There was a significant relationship between breast cancer prevention and academic years (p= 0.027), so that the chances of adopting good-level preventive behaviors in the senior students was 1.498 times higher than the first year students. There was also a significant relationship between adopting preventive behaviors and employment (P = 0.017), so that the chances of adopting good-level preventive behaviors in unemployed students was 1.725 times higher than that of the employed students.Conclusion: Students with lower education and less physical activity and the employed individuals less commonly adopted preventive behaviors. Therefore, it is necessary to pay more attention to these students in designing educational programs.

Introduction: There has been a tremendous growth in the nursing profession over the past 100 years and the attitude of the society towards it has transformed significantly. The general public attitude can be viewed as positive or negative. Though, in India, this field is not receiving its required respect, which can be determined by various factors like its low reputation in the society, no specific job description, no syllabus or subjects for different administrative fractions in nursing, no fruition of higher degrees for influential post, the governance of doctors, nor the sovereignty to the field, unattractive salary packages for nurses and so on. This study was aimed to assess the attitude of general public towards nursing profession. Methodology: A descriptive cross sectional survey on 391 samples collected all over India through snow ball sampling technique. The tool contains 10 demographic variables and the 5 point Likert scale to assess the attitude of general public. Likert scale contains 10 items with maximum score of 50. The internal consistency of the tool was 0.731 and acceptable range was 0.65 to 0.75. The data was collected by face to face contact and through mobile app (watts app and survey monkey app). The data was collected from Jan to Feb 2019. The recorded responses were coded in excel sheet and computed in SPSS-16. Result: It showed that the general public attitude was favorable towards nursing profession (Mean =38.5 ±4.844). Geographical area and member in the family is a nurse has significant association with level of attitude towards nursing profession. Conclusion: In spite of favorable attitude, still public have undesirable attitude in certain point towards this profession. People are still uncertain about gender orientation of nursing profession, duty schedule and marital life of nurses. People still believes that nursing is a female oriented profession and only female can practice nursing, and shift duty in nursing puts female nurses at risk, as well as doing nursing duty will affect marriage life. So general public need more awareness about nature, benefit, value and scope of nursing profession in order to have transparent, pure and coherent attitude towards nursing profession.
