Silalahi II Village is located at the end of Silahisabungan Sub-district which borders with Toba Samosir Regency. As the main road access to other villages is blocked because of landslide and erosion in many places, the village becomes isolated and underdeveloped. The only possible access to the village is through water by using boats or canoes. Difficult access to the village increases burden that have to be borne by local people; thus, they cannot rise from prolonged poverty to the present. To develop this village, assistance from higher institutions which collaborate synergistically in one series of PPM activities would be required. Based on the priority of the problem, the implementation team of PPM would focus on opening and improving 11 km road access that was blocked for a long time in the village. The work was performed using excavator and bulldozer. In addition, a training which aimed to increase income of the farmers in the village was also conducted by the PPM team. High quality of red onion seeds which was expected to be one of the village’s mainstay products were introduced to the farmers in the training. The village would also be promoted as an alternative tourism village because of its potential of natural beauty. Finally, this village is expected to be established as an assisted village partnered with University of Sumatera Utara (USU) to be the icon and the major driver of the village’s development, and one of the science-techno and tourism park models.

This program is conducted to assist Siponjot Village while empowering the people of Siponjot Village to be able to utilize and maximize the benefit of the village forest. Village forest might support the availability of raw materials required for making musical instruments, such as high quality of wood, including how to process wood waste from making musical instruments to be used as creative souvenirs and improve the economic value. The raw material for production determined its results of the production of wood-based musical instruments. Thus, in order to produce a high quality tanginang, hasapi, and gondang, which previously began to be produced by arts crafts in the Sitangkubang area of Siponjot Village, a high quality of raw materials is needed. The community service team surveyed the location of planting seeds for village forest restoration, provided socialization related to the importance of village forest cultivation and the suitability of the Siponjot Village area for the cultivation of these plants. Village forest restoration aims to maintain the beauty and beauty of the village. Implementation of village reforestation activities starting from socializing forest tourism and the strength of village forests to the community, followed by a discussion about village forest management and its economic benefits. Handover of a thousand units of forest plant seedlings given to the villagers of Siponjot as part of the forest restoration program in the area.

Abstract High quality of railway track construction is a major priority. One of the quality elements is the resistance to load of railway formation with individual structural layers caused by negative temperatures during the critical freezing period of winter. Numerical modelling allows obtaining more control outputs at different climatic loads. The presented paper shows the load of railway track model with different variants of climate and shows the importance in the designing of the non-transport load under negative temperatures, i.e. observation of transition of the zero isotherm through the layers of railway subgrade. If the subgrade layers of the railway formation are built with high quality and durability then the axis of the track will keep its geometric spatial position during the long-time operation.

This research uses qualitative approach of case study with using data collection technique through interview, documentation study, and observation. The results of this study show that the use of Rumah Baca Apung has not been based on the function of education, research and preservation function of a library. Rumah Baca Apung also has not been used as a place to increase reading habit. Rumah Baca Apung is now used as a place of recreation, a place to discuss, socialize and counsel for the local people. The utilization of Rumah Baca Apung which has not yet represented the function of the village library is due to the limited quantity and quality of the collection books, the lack of educative games equipment, and the absence of learning companion teacher as a volunteer for the coastal children of Tambak Lorok.

Blacksmith is a people's business that has been going on for a long time in Indonesia. Based on the experience that has been obtained from time to time and hereditary, the blacksmith industry has been done by the community to meet the needs of agricultural and household utensils. However, observe to this people's business, now it decreases with various causal factors, such as the ease of imported goods on the market with lower prices. Many creative efforts need to be carried out so that these people's businesses remain and increasingly develop, among others by improving the quality of the process of a blacksmith so that their products are quite competitive. This article describes the results of the research in the laboratory regarding the physical processes of heating and quenching under blacksmith, which the results have been applied to community service activities at the Suger Kidul villages in Jember Regency. The study aimed to find the most appropriate procedure for steel tool manufacturing processes so that the blacksmith products have high quality as high hardness. The physical process for blacksmith process is heating and quenching. This study analyzes the proper heat (temperature), proper processing time, and proper media for heating and quenching to produce good harness quality of the product.

Natsepa Beach has a natural beauty that attracts tourist arrivals and is managed by the Central Maluku Regency Government. The existence of covid-19 has a significant impact on local people’s income and local labor. The purpose of this study is to descriptively compare the presence of Covid-19 to the village of the business in the Natsepa beach. The research method used is the survey method, and the sampling method used is nonprobability sampling. The results showed that the average number and quality of tourism services significantly declined inside and outside the location. During the pandemic covid, the revenue of the business unit/month in the Natsepa beach decreased from IDR.1920000 to IDR.725500; business unit outside the Natsepa Beach tourist attraction from IDR.1850105 to IDR.826725 and the community around the Natsepafrom IDR.1830698 to IDR.1278540,-. The economic impact value at the usual time (2018) compared to 2020 was obtained from KIM, namely from 2.04 to 0.84; the importance of RIM I, 1.59 to 1.33, and RIM II 2.31 to 1,73. The conclusion of this study shows that local communities have experienced a drastic decline in income so that they need to be supported by the government.

Population is all of the people who lives in an area for more and less than 6 month, but aim to live in there for a long time. It require an accurate data regarding aspects of quantity and quality of the population to get a picture about condition of population in certain area. The level of accuracy of the data obtained strongly influence the accuracy of the analysis and prediction of demographic conditions. Because of development of technology rapidly, the census is a proses of recording, calculation and publication of demographic data which carried out on all the permanent residents who lived in a particular region or country simultaneouslycarried out with the census application to be a storage for a valid data. This application can make a census population easier to create report and save a valid data of a particular region. This application is built using Delphi. Applications census contains personal data of an area that the scope of development is still in the village scale. This application is Expected to be of little help in making a report and other purposes.

As part of the study of the early stages of settlement of the Middle Irtysh region, the multilayered monuments of the tract “First and Second island” near the village of Tanatovо, Muromtsevsky district of Omsk region. Based on the study of ceramics and stone tools, complexes of the late Neolithic - early bronze age belonging to the artyn and Catherine cultures and the Stepanov type of monuments were identified. Specific features of stone processing are described for each stage. Artyn stone processing was characterized by high-quality raw materials and the technique of chipping plates. At the stage of Catherine's culture, the quality of raw materials significantly deteriorates, and the use of local raw materials (swamp iron ore) is noted. In stone processing, there is an increase in the share the technique of chipping flakes. At all stages, the tendency to minimize the impact of the shortage of stone raw materials is well recorded.

ABSTRACTEffects of Ar+ ion irradiation on solid-phase growth of β-FeSi2 have been investigated. Si substrates were amorphized with Ar+ ions (20 keV) before Fe (15 nm) deposition to form Fe(15 nm)/a-Si/c-Si stacked structures. As a reference, Fe/c-Si stacked structures were prepared. In the initial stage of annealing at 800 °C, β-FeSi2 formation was enhanced for pre-amorphized samples, which was due to the enhanced diffusion of silicidation species. In the long time annealing, β-FeSi2 formation proceeded by thermal equilibrium diffusion, and the formation rate was not affected by pre-amorphization. Crystal quality of β-FeSi2 was improved by pre-amorphization. The pre-amorphization enhanced diffusion is useful for formation of high quality β-FeSi2 thin films.
