This research investigated students’ needs, awareness, perception and use of Guidance and Counselling Services (G&CS) in Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). Simple random sampling technique was used to sample 283 respondents across the ten (10) colleges in the institution. Data were collected with the aid of questionnaire and analysed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentages, and mean. The questionnaire was subjected to a pilot study that revealed psychometric properties of Cronbach’s Apha 0.86. Result revealed that 91.1% of the respondents were aware of G&CS and 74.6% of the respondents currently using the services indicated that it was very helpful. The rating of the counselling needs of the respondents revealed that academic issues with a mean of 3.62 ranked first, and exam pressure management had a mean of 3.51 ranked second. Furthermore, the rating of the perception of students on the quality and effectiveness of G&CS indicated that organized orientation services for fresh students ranked first (mean = 2.55), while effective counselling on personal, social, academic and vocational challenges ranked second (mean = 2.49). The study concluded that the G&CS needs of the students across the colleges differ due to the dissimilarities in their disciplines across the University. The G&CS was assisting students to attain competencies needed to overcome academic, career and personal concerns. The fresher’s orientation service received the highest perception (mean = 2.55) among respondents on the quality and effectiveness of G&CS in the institution. This study aimed to show the extent of teenagers who represent students Tèbessa University contents of violence and crime that is seen or published or traded them through the media and communication affected, especially through social networking sites and networks, such as Facebook and stringing YouTube and Skype, etc., which may contribute to the formation and strengthening of behaviors negative in these through the following problem: Do you contribute to social networking sites through the implications of violence and crime in a negative impact on the behaviors of the students within the university community ?, also deliberately researcher to sample the estimated inventory of 50 students schooled at the Faculty of Economics and Commercial Sciences and Management Sciences of each section by an estimated 10% of the study population as a whole's (2000) the adoption of simple random sampling technique, the results have also been addressing the adoption system (SPSS) , Which resulted in the results: the presence of a statistically significant correlation between the students' use of social networking sites and the spread of deviant behavior within the university community?, And no statistically significant differences in the adverse effects of the use of social networking sites on the behavior of students depending on the sex variable, the largest of any female average for the benefit of, No statistically significant differences in the adverse effects of the use of social networking sites on the behavior of students depending on the variable physical level ?,No statistically significant differences in the adverse effects of the use of social networking sites on the behavior of the students due to the level of scientific student ?,The study also called attention to the recent media study the impact of the implications of violence and crime across social networking on the behavior of young people and adolescents sites, spreading awareness programs to help solve the problems of this phenomenon.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the customer care practices at the University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library (JKML), Kenya. Design/methodology/approach A descriptive research design was used. Simple random sampling technique was used to derive at an appropriate sample from the target population. A structured questionnaire and face-to-face interview was used to collect both quantitative and qualitative data. A total of 384 questionnaires were distributed to students and library staff. Face-to-face interview was conducted among five section heads. Data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and presented in tabulated summaries and figures. Findings JKML had not only put in place customer care practices but had also provided reliable services with notable professionalism among staff. Users were satisfied with the attention and information resources provided. Challenges encountered related to inadequate ICT infrastructure, lack of a written policy, lack of customer care skills among library staff and lack of managerial support. The study recommended inclusion of customer care in the mainstream of the strategic plan of the university. Research limitations/implications The major implication for this study is that sustainable customer care self-assessment needs to be explored in national and private libraries in Kenya. Practical implications This study provides a significant practical outlook on marketing-savvy approaches toward customer care and efforts made toward the achievement of the goals of the university. Originality/value This study provides insights on good practices on customer care which can be emulated by other academic libraries and adds value to the knowledge base.

SACCOS play a major role of providing financial access to poor people who are excluded from the services of Formal Financial Institutions (FFIs). However, they also face number of challenges which may affect their performance. Most of the previous studies in the area of SACCOS did not concentrate on their performance. The aim of this study therefore was to assess performance of SACCOS in Maseru District, Lesotho. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design where data were collected at one point in time. A sample size of 369 respondents was computed by the use of formula by Yamane (1967). Respondents in the sample were selected by using simple random sampling technique. However, respondents from individual SACCOS were proportional to the total number of members in particular SACCOS. This was done in order to make the sample representative of all SACCOS in the study area. Analyses of data were done by using different techniques which include: mathematical equations (i to vii); different financial ratios; tables; graphs; bar charts and other types of descriptive statistics like mode and percentages. It was found that socio economic characteristics of members were supportive to financial performance of the SACCOS. Furthermore, SACCOS in the study area achieved high performance in terms of ratios of members’ capital; loan delinquency; volumes of savings in the SACCOS; and growth of total assets. On the other hand, the SACCOS realised poor financial performance in terms of ratio of fixed assets to total assets; and share capital owned by members.

Any form of examination malpractice is unacceptable, fraudulent, and signifies an act of academic dishonesty with significant punitive consequences. This paper investigated the reasons why students engage in examination malpractice during examinations at the University for Development Studies (UDS). The study adopted a cross-sectional survey design for this research and targeted undergraduate students of the Tamale Campus of the UDS. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 278 out of a total student population of 6,729 for the study. They responded mainly to questionnaire and a few open ended questions to provide the needed data for analysis. The findings suggest that (i) smuggling of prepared notes on pieces of papers (foreign material) into the examination hall,(ii) writing of examination answers on palms, thighs and other body parts, and (iii) communication by seeking for answers from colleagues are the three topmost forms/methods students engage to cheat during examinations. The desire to obtain good grades just as the more intelligent students pushes some students to cheat during examinations. The introduction of scanners and e-search software, the spacing of sitting arrangements, installation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in large examination halls may help curb cheating.

The study is aimed at determining how structured supervision of influences work attitude and promotes job performance in universities. This is because the success of any academic institution depends on effective supervision of staff. To achieve the objectives, the study adopted survey research design using interviews and questionnaire. Respondents (107) were selected from different units/departments of a public university in Nigeria through stratified sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study revealed that Junior Non-Academic Staff of the university were poorly supervised, leading to poor job performance. The cause of this is non-application of structured supervision. The study believes in structured supervision, which involves elimination of harsh supervision, enthronement of cordial relationship between workers and their supervisors, regular training of supervisors, promotion of exemplary supervision, and provision of institutional policy on supervision. Therefore, there is a strong relationship between structured supervision and high job performance. As a result, it is important that supervisors are regularly trained to imbibe spirit of structured supervision which will help them to lead their subordinates to achieve high job performance.

Lecturers are educators at universities who are specially appointed for the purpose of teaching. The main mission of higher education is to develop and establish knowledge through the experience of the three dharmas of higher education. This study aims to determine whether work motivation, work discipline, and work environment affect the performance of lecturers with job satisfaction as a moderating variable at the Faculty of Economics, Prima Indonesia University. The data collection method in this study used a questionnaire. This sampling technique data collection using simple random sampling a total sample of 105 from a total population of 143 permanent lecturers at the Faculty of Economics at the University..The results obtained in this study show 1) there is a significant effect between work motivation variables on lecturer performance, 2) there is a significant influence between work discipline variables on lecturer performance, 3) there is no significant effect between work environment variables and lecturer performance, 4) lecturer satisfaction variable is not a moderating variable that can weaken work environment, strengthen work discipline, and work motivation.

Postharvest losses of tomato pose serious threat on the economic viability of actors in the tomato production chain in Nigeria. Therefore, postharvest losses of tomato among marketers in Ibadan Metropolis of Oyo State Nigeria were investigated by the researchers. One hundred and twenty tomato marketers were chosen from the five food markets in Ibadan metropolis through a simple random sampling technique. The study adopted linear regression and descriptive statistics to analyze data. The outcomes of the investigation show that females were 92.5% and 88.3% were married. Capital is primarily raised through cooperative societies (57.5%). Postharvest losses of tomato accounted for 18.9% of purchase which represents ₦124,800/day. The major causes of PHLs are poor packaging (100%) and poor storage (100%) by the tomato marketers. Meanwhile, all the respondents (100%) adopted sorting to reduce PHLs of tomato. The regression analysis showed that education has a significant effect to reduce PHLs of tomato. The study concluded that huge postharvest and monetary losses of tomato are experienced by the tomato marketers. The study recommends provision of quality postharvest handling education to tomato marketers as a way of reducing PHLs of tomato in Ibadan.

This research is to know the relation of student perception to counselor and infrastructure facilities of Counseling Guidance with interest of counseling guidance service to students of SMP Negeri 2 Dewantara - Aceh Utara 2017. Type of research is quantitative. The research population of all students in grade VIII and IX SMP is 200 students. The sample of this study amounted to 109 students of SMP Negeri 2 Dewantara. Sampling technique in the form of simple random sampling and data collection method using psychological scale and questionnaire, while the method of data analysis using product moment correlation analysis. The results of this study indicate that (1) there is a significant positive correlation between students' perceptions on counselor and BK infrastructure with interest of counseling service, where coefficient rx12y = 0.662 and p = 0,000 with contribution equal to 43,9%. (2). There is a significant positive correlation between students' perceptions of counselors with interest in counseling counseling services, where the coefficients rx1y = 0.662 and p = 0,000 with contribution of 43.8%. (3). There is a significant positive relationship between BK facilities and infrastructure with the interest of counseling services, where the coefficient rx2y = 0.271 and p = 0,000 with a contribution of 7.3 % thus stated that all hypotheses are acceptable.

The study investigated personality traits as predictors of burnout syndrome among nurses in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital Rivers State. The study used the correlational research design. The population of the study comprised of all 750 nurses in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. A sample of 300 nurses from Paediatrics Ward, Male Ward, Female Ward and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), were randomly selected using the simple random sampling technique (balloting). Two instruments titled; Maslach Burnout Scale (MBS) by Maslach (1996) and Personality Inventory (NEO) by Costa and McCrae (1992) were used to collect data for the study. The Cronbach Alpha reliability was used to establish the internal consistency reliability coefficients of 0.87 and 0.81respectively. Responses to the research questions were analyzed with mean and standard deviation, while the hypotheses will be tested with multiple regression associated with independent sample t-test statistics. The findings of the study revealed that personality traits (neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience) jointly predict burnout syndrome among nurses in University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. Further analysis of the result showed that when personality traits of neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience where looked at independently, only neuroticism and extraversion relate significantly predict burnout syndrome while openness to experience did not. Based on the findings of the study it was recommended among others that counsellors, psychologists and others in the helping profession should readily offer practical assistance to nurses experiencing burnout to enable them cope with the stressful experience they encounter in their daily work assignments.
