ABSTRACTHyperglicemia is condition where blood sugar levels surge or excessive, which will eventually become a disease called Diabetes Mellitus (DM). One of the plants that can be used for antidiabetic activity or to repair pancreatic β cells is jarak pagar. The study conducted using 15 rats induced with 3 mL of 60% glucosa. Animals then divided into 5 groups, Metformin(10.557 mg), Na-CMC, 125 mg/kg BW, 250 mg/kg BW and 375 mg/kg BW of ethanol extract of jarak pagar leaves. The results showed the percentage value of decrease in blood sugar D1 (19.46%), D2 (15.91%), D3 (53.17%) and the positive group (Metformin) (10.24%). Conclusion: the extract group dose 375 mg/kgBW can reduce blood sugar levels better that the group given extracts dose D1 and D2.  Keywords: Jarak Pagar Leaves (Jatropha curcas L.), Ethanol Extract, Antihyperglycemia, Diabetes.  ABSTRAKHiperglikemia adalah keadaan dimana kadar gula darah melebihi nilai normal dan merupakan salah satu indikasi pada penyakit Diabetes Melitus. Salah satu tumbuhan yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk aktifitas antidiabetes atau memperbaiki sel β pankreas adalah jarak  pagar. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar dalam menurunkan kadar gula darah tikus putih jantan. Penelitian menggunakan hewan uji sebanyak 15 ekor untuk diinduksikan dengan glukosa 60% sebanyak 3 mL/ekor. Hewan uji kemudian dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok, kelompok positif, kelompok negatif, dosis 125 mg/kgBB, dosis 250 mg/kgBB, dan dosis 375 mg/kgBB. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai persentase penurunan gula darah D1 (19.46%), D2 (15.91%), D3 (53.17%) dan kelompok positif (Metformin) (10.24%). Kesimpulan: kelompok ekstrak dosis 375 mg/kgBB dapat menurunkan kadar gula darah lebih baik dibandingkan kelompok yang diberikan ekstrak dosis D1 dan D2. Kata kunci :    Daun Jarak Pagar (Jatropha Curcas L.) , Ekstrak Etanol, Antihiperglikemia, Diabetes.

ABSTRACTJatropha curcas L. leaves is plants containing saponins, flavonoid compounds such as kaempferol, nicotoflorin, quersitin, astragalin, ricinin and vitamin C. Flavonoids showed more than one hundred kinds of bioactivity, which is antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Several researches informed that flavonoid compound had antipyretic activity. The aim of this study was to examined the effect of ethanolic extract of Jatropha curcas L. leaves as antipyretic on white Wistar male rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced with DPT. There were 15 rats tested, divided into 5 groups that is negative control (CMC 1%), positive control (paracetamol) and treatment group of physic nut leaves extract 200 mg, 400 mg and 800 mg. Every rat was induced by fever using 0,4 ml of DPT vaccine intramuscularly. The temperature was measured before the rats were induced, 2-3 hour after induced and every 30 minute for 3 hours. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis of Variants) and LSD. The results showed that the dose group of Jatropha curcas L. leaves ethanol extract had comparable activity with positive control of paracetamol in reducing fever. The conclusion was the ethanol extract of Jatropha curcas L. leaves has an antipyretic activity that could reduce temperature on white Wistar male rats at a dose of 200 mg, 400 mg and 800 mg. Keywords: Jatropha curcas L., antipyretic, Rattus norvegicus ABSTRAKDaun Jarak Pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) merupakan tanaman yang mengandung saponin, senyawa flavonoida antara lain kaempferol, nikotoflorin, kuersitin, astragalin, risinin dan vitamin C. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas antipiretik ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) terhadap tikus putih jantan galur wistar (Rattus norvegicus) yang diinduksi vaksin DPT. Hewan uji yang digunakan sebanyak 15 ekor dan dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif (CMC 1%), kontrol positif (parasetamol) dan kelompok dosis uji yaitu pemberian ekstrak daun jarak pagar 200 mg, 400 mg dan 800 mg. Setiap tikus diinduksi demam dengan vaksin DPT dosis 0,4 ml secara intramuskular. Pengukuran suhu dilakukan sebelum induksi, 2-3 jam setelah pemberian induksi dan setiap 30 menit selama 3 jam. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) dan uji LSD (Least Significant Different). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok dosis ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar memiliki aktivitas yang sebanding dengan kontrol positif parasetamol dalam menurunkan demam. Kesimpulannya ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) memiliki aktivitas antipiretik yang dapat menurunkan suhu tubuh pada tikus putih jantan galur wistar (Rattus norvegicus) pada dosis 200 mg, 400 mg dan 800 mg. Kata kunci: Jatropha curcas L., antipiretik, Rattus norvegicus

A B S T R A C TThis study aims to determine the effect of paprika ethanol (capsicum annuum) onblood sugar levels of alloxan-induced Wistar rats (rattus norvegicus). This type ofresearch is experimental. The method used was pre test and post test with controlgroup design. The results of this study indicate that for Post Test 1 or after beinggiven treatment for 7 days, the average result shows that there is an effect of givingred paprika ethanol extract on blood sugar levels in Wistar rats where the significantvalue of each treatment is all less than 0.05. For Post Test 2 or after being giventreatment for 14 days, only at a dose of 250 that has no effect on blood sugar levelsof the rats, because the significant value is 0.813 greater than 0.05, for othertreatments it has a significant effect because the significant value is more smallerthan 0.05.

Objective: Study described the screening potential antidiabetic activity of kabau seed extract and fraction. Methods: The powdered crude drugs weighing 1349.32 grams were extracted with a solvent with solvents with escalating polarity by using soxhletation. The solvents used were n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and 96% ethanol. Screening activity using three variations on doses on the three extracts using the glucose test tolerance method, then the alloxan induction and high-fat feed induction testing methods using selected doses, decreasing blood glucose levels using the GOD PAP enzyme and decreasing MDA levels and increased levels of the enzyme SOD. Extracts that have potential antidiabetic activity are fractionated using liquid-solid fractionation; then the fraction is screened for antidiabetic activity using the glucose test tolerance method. Results: Screening for antidiabetic activity on the three extracts using the glucose test tolerance method showed that the ethanol extract at a dose of 250 mg/kg BW. The three extracts were then screened for the next mechanism using the alloxan induction method and high-fat feed induction, the decrease in blood sugar levels by the GOD-PAP method showed a good decrease in the ethanol extract by 202.94±2 mg/dl, the three extracts showed good less significant, in the SOD enzyme method, the ethanol extract gave a good value such as the positive control value. Testing on fraction can decrease in blood sugar; the results showed that the ethanol extract and methanol fraction gave a small AUC 0-150 (32695,3 and 33167,71), where the value was close to the result of the glibenclamide 30238,48. Conclusion: The antidiabetic activity of the extract showed that the ethanol extract was better with the glucose test tolerance method, with alloxan induction animal models and high-fat feed induction. In the methanol fraction derived from 96% ethanol extract, it provides a good reduction in blood sugar levels in the screening method with a glucose test tolerance

ABSTRACTSesewanua leaves contain flavonoids which can be potentially as antidiabetic. Flavonoids reduce blood sugar levels by capturing free radicals that cause damage to pancreatic beta cells and inhibit pancreatic beta cell damage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of antidiabetic activity on the administration of Sesewanua (Clerodendron squamatum Vahl.) Leaf extracts in wistar white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by Aloxan. This type of research is a laboratory experiment using a completely randomized design. Test animals are grouped into 5 groups each consisting of 3 test animals. The negative control group (K-) was not treated, the positive control group (K +) was given metformin, groups 2, 3, and 4 were treated with different extract concentration of 200, 400, and 800 mg. Before the treatment was done the rats were examined the initial blood sugar level, then induced alloxan monohydrate 120 mg / kg BW intraperitonially (ip), and checked the blood sugar level on the 3rd day and continued with the administration of the leaf extracts of the animal every two days until the 14th day. The results showed that sesewanua leaf extracts with a concentration of 200, 400, and 800mg had a decreased activity in blood sugar levels from day 4 to day 14 with a decrease of 13.66 mg / dL in the concentration group 1, 43 mg / dL in the dose concentration 2, and 103 mg / dL in the concentration group 3. Keywords: Blood Glucose, Clerodendron squamatum Vahl., Flavonoids,  Rattus norvegicus ABSTRAKDaun sesewanua mengandung flavonoid yang dapat berpotensi sebagai antidiabetes. Kelompok kontrol negatif (K-) tidak diberi perlakuan, kelompok kontrol positif (K+) diberikan metformin, Kelompok 2, 3, dan 4 diberi perlakuan dengan konsentras ekstrak yang berbeda-beda yaitu 200, 400, dan 800 mg. Sebelum perlakuan dilakukan tikus diperiksa kadar gula darah awal, kemudian diinduksi aloksan monohidrat 120 mg/kgBB secara intraperitonial (ip), dan diperiksa kadar gula darah pada hari ke-3 dan dilanjutkan dengan pemberian ekstrak daun sesewanua setiap dua hari sekali sampai hari ke-14. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun sesewanua dengan konsentrasi 200, 400 , dan 800mg memiliki aktivitas penurunan kadar gula darah dari hari ke-4 sampai hari ke-14 dengan penurunan sebesar 13.66 mg/dL pada kelompok konsentrasi 1, 43 mg/dL pada kelompok konsentrasi 2, dan 103 mg/dL pada kelompok konsentrasi 3. Kata Kunci: Clerodendron squamatum Vahl., Flavonoid, Glukosa Darah, Rattus norvegicus

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a collection of metabolic symptoms that arise in a person caused by an increase in blood glucose due to damage to insulin secretion or resistance to insulin or both. Diabetes mellitus medication can be either parenteral or oral which can cause side effects in long-term use such as mild diarrhea, bloating, fatigue acidosis, even hypoglycemic renal impairment. To prevent it can use alternative medicine using Dayak onion (Eleutherine palmifolia (L) Merr.). One of the active substances contained in the Dayak onion is the flavonoids. Flavonoids have antidiabetic activity through their functions as antioxidants. The study aims to determine the activity of Dayak scallion Extract (Eleutherine palmifolia (L) Merr.) To decrease blood sugar levels (Mus muscullus), which is glucose-induced. The research was conducted with research draft pre and post test with control group design. The mice used amounted to 25 male white mice that were divided into 5 groups i.e. negative control (CMC Na 0.5%), control positive (Glibenklamid 3 mg/kgBB), Dayak onion-leaf ethanol extract at a dose of 50 mg/kgBB, 100 mg/kgBB and 200 mg/kgBB. Observations of the decrease in blood sugar levels of each test group were conducted on the same day, 30 minutes, 60 and 90 after hyperglycemia. Results showed that Dayak onion leaves ethanol extract had activity as a lowering of blood sugar levels in glucose-induced white mice

Diabetes is a disease, in which the body cannot produce enough insulin so that there is excess sugar in the blood which becomes toxic to the body. Ngokilo plants are believed to be able to lower blood sugar levels because of the antioxidants and polyphenols contained therein.The objective of this study was to determine the potential of the ethanol extract of Ngokilo leaves (Stachytarpheta mutabilis, Vahl) as a lowering blood glucose levels in white mice(Rattus norvegicus). The tests were carried out by an experimental method using Swiss Webster male mice (Rattus norvegicus) aged 2-3 months with a body west of 30-40 grams as test animals. This study used four dosage ratios of ngokilo leaf extract, namely 1: 20: 40: 60 and control used aquadest. The results showed that the ethanol extract of Ngokilo leaves had an F value of 27.033> F Table 2.60. It indicates that the independent variable (the difference in the concentration of ethanol extract of Ngokilo leaves) was proven to have a significant effect on the dependent variable (blood sugar levels).

ABSTRACTThe results of phytochemical analysis showed that Areca vestiaria leaves contain terpenoids, steroids and tannins. One compound that is thought to have antidiabetic activity is tannin. This study aims to determine the decrease of blood sugar levels caused by ethanol extract of pinang yaki leaves (Areca vestiaria) in male white wistar (Rattus norvegicus) strain induced by aloxan. This type of research is laboratory experiments using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The research subjects were twelve mice divided into 4 treatment groups with each group consisting of 3 mice. The first group was the negative control group (K-) not given treatment, the second group was positive control (K+) given metformin, the third group was the treatment group sample I (PSl) with an extract dose of 400 mg / kgBW, and the fourth group was the group treatment of sample 2 (PS2) with an extract dose of 800 mg / kgBW. Before being treated in mice, fasting blood sugar was examined, and then aloxan monohydrate 150 mg / kgBW induced intraperitonially (ip), and blood sugar levels were examined once every two days until the  day. After that, it was continued with the administration of ethanol extacts of pinang yaki leaves every two days until the  day. The results showed that extracts of pinang yaki leaves at a dose of 400 mg / kgBW and 800 mg / kgBW decreased the blood sugar levels from day 8 to day 14 with a decreasing value of 61.33 mg / mL for treatment groups 1 and 3l mg / mL for treatment group 2.Keywords       : Areca vestiaria, Rattus norvegicus, Tannin, Blood glucose. ABSTRAK Hasil analisis Fitokimia menunjukan bahwa ekstrak daun pinang yaki (Areca vestiaria) mengandung senyawa terpenoid, steroid dan tannin. Jenis penelitian ini ialah eksperimen laboratorium menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Subyek penelitian dua belas ekor tikus dibagi ke dalam 4 kelompok perlakuan dengan masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 3 ekor tikus. Kelompok pertama merupakan kelompok kontrol negatif (K-) tidak diberi perlakuan, kelompok kedua merupakan kontrol positif (K+) yang diberikan metformin, kelompok ketiga merupakan kelompok perlakuan sampel 1 (PS1) dengan dosis ekstrak 400 mg/kgBB, dan kelompok keempat yang merupakan kelompok perlakuan sampel 2 (PS2) dengan dosis ekstrak 800 mg/kgBB. Sebelum diberi perlakuan pada tikus dilakukan pemeriksaan gula darah puasa, dan selanjutnya tikus diinduksi aloksan monohidrat 150 mg/kgBB secara intraperitonial (ip), dan dilakukan pemeriksaan kadar gula darah dua hari sekali sampai hari ke-7. Setelah itu dilanjutkan dengan pemberian ekstrak etanol daun pinang yaki setiap dua hari sekali hingga hari ke-14. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak daun pinang yaki dengan dosis 400 mg/kgBB dan 800 mg/kgBB memiliki aktivitas penurunan kadar gula darah dari hari ke-8 sampai hari ke -14 dengan penurunan sebesar 61,33 mg/mL untuk kelompok perlakuan 1 dan 31 mg/ml untuk kelompok perlakuan 2. Kata kunci      : Areca vestiaria, Rattus norvegicus, Tannin, Glukosa darah.


Diabetes mellitus constitutes a metabolic disorder indicated by a decrease in insulin secretion, insulin insensitivity, or a combination of both. Golden sea cucumber (Stichopus hermanii) is a natural resource of Indonesian waters with benefit for reducing blood sugar levels. This research aimed to determine the anti-hyperglycemic mechanism of golden sea cucumber.This study used a experimental laboratory research with Post-test Only Control Group. The sample of this study consisted of 25 male rats aged 60-70 days, divided into 5 groups: K(-), K(+), P1, P2, and P3 randomly. Rats from K(+), P1, P2, and P3 groups were injected with streptozotocin (STZ) with a dose of 50 mg/kg BW. Treatment was administered for 21 days. K(-) and K(+) groups were fed normally while P1, P2 and P3 groups were given golden sea cucumber 80% ethanol extract with a dose of 4,25 mg/kgBW/day, 8,50 mg/kgBW/day and 12,75 mg/kgBW/day respectively. On the 22nd day, fasting blood sugar level was measured and the number of pancreatic islet was counted with histopathological examination. The administration of golden sea cucumber (Stichopus hermanii) extract on rats with hyperglycemia does not reduce blood sugar level, but the extract administration increases the number of pancreatic islet. Golden sea cucumber (Stichopus hermanni) extract may improve the number of pancreatic islet and prevent the progressive damage of pancreatic islet.C

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by an increase in blood glucose (hyperglycemia). Physical activity has an impact on insulin action in people at risk for diabetes mellitus.Lack of activity is one of the contributing factors that causes insulin resistance in type II diabetes mellitus and diet is the behavior of humans or a group of humans in meeting their dietary needs which include food attitudes, beliefs and choices. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between patterns of physical activity and diet with blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes melitustipe II. The research method used is a qualitative method. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between patterns of physical activity and diet with blood sugar levels. Conclusions there is a relationship between patterns of physical activity and diet with blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes melitustipe II

This study aims to determine the content of flavonoid and the effect of ethanol extract of moringa seeds on the regeneration of pancreatic β cells in male white rats streptozotocin induced diabetes. This study method used has total flavonoid equivalent quercetin by spectrophotometry uv-vis and to regeneration of pancreatic β cells in male white rats used 30 test animals,namely male white rats divided into 6 groups, each group consisted of 5 male white rats with details of group I as normal control, Group II as negative control given 0.5% Na-CMC suspension, Group III as positive control given glibenclamide suspension and in Groups IV, V, and VI were given with each dose of 100 mg/kg BW, 200 mg/kg BW and 400 mg/kg BB. Histopathological damage picture of the pancreas was observed by staining HE using a 400x magnification olympus Cx21 microscope. The results showed that the ethanol extract of moringa seeds contained secondary metabolites, namely flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins and tannins. The results showed has total flavonoid equivalent quercetin of moringa seeds is 1,26% and regeneration of pancreatic β cells in male white rats streptozotocin induced diabetes of Moringa seed ethanol extract at a dose of 400 mg/kg BB can have an effect on the regeneration of β cells in the pancreas of white diabetic male rats.
