ABSTRACTThe results of phytochemical analysis showed that Areca vestiaria leaves contain terpenoids, steroids and tannins. One compound that is thought to have antidiabetic activity is tannin. This study aims to determine the decrease of blood sugar levels caused by ethanol extract of pinang yaki leaves (Areca vestiaria) in male white wistar (Rattus norvegicus) strain induced by aloxan. This type of research is laboratory experiments using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The research subjects were twelve mice divided into 4 treatment groups with each group consisting of 3 mice. The first group was the negative control group (K-) not given treatment, the second group was positive control (K+) given metformin, the third group was the treatment group sample I (PSl) with an extract dose of 400 mg / kgBW, and the fourth group was the group treatment of sample 2 (PS2) with an extract dose of 800 mg / kgBW. Before being treated in mice, fasting blood sugar was examined, and then aloxan monohydrate 150 mg / kgBW induced intraperitonially (ip), and blood sugar levels were examined once every two days until the  day. After that, it was continued with the administration of ethanol extacts of pinang yaki leaves every two days until the  day. The results showed that extracts of pinang yaki leaves at a dose of 400 mg / kgBW and 800 mg / kgBW decreased the blood sugar levels from day 8 to day 14 with a decreasing value of 61.33 mg / mL for treatment groups 1 and 3l mg / mL for treatment group 2.Keywords       : Areca vestiaria, Rattus norvegicus, Tannin, Blood glucose. ABSTRAK Hasil analisis Fitokimia menunjukan bahwa ekstrak daun pinang yaki (Areca vestiaria) mengandung senyawa terpenoid, steroid dan tannin. Jenis penelitian ini ialah eksperimen laboratorium menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Subyek penelitian dua belas ekor tikus dibagi ke dalam 4 kelompok perlakuan dengan masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 3 ekor tikus. Kelompok pertama merupakan kelompok kontrol negatif (K-) tidak diberi perlakuan, kelompok kedua merupakan kontrol positif (K+) yang diberikan metformin, kelompok ketiga merupakan kelompok perlakuan sampel 1 (PS1) dengan dosis ekstrak 400 mg/kgBB, dan kelompok keempat yang merupakan kelompok perlakuan sampel 2 (PS2) dengan dosis ekstrak 800 mg/kgBB. Sebelum diberi perlakuan pada tikus dilakukan pemeriksaan gula darah puasa, dan selanjutnya tikus diinduksi aloksan monohidrat 150 mg/kgBB secara intraperitonial (ip), dan dilakukan pemeriksaan kadar gula darah dua hari sekali sampai hari ke-7. Setelah itu dilanjutkan dengan pemberian ekstrak etanol daun pinang yaki setiap dua hari sekali hingga hari ke-14. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak daun pinang yaki dengan dosis 400 mg/kgBB dan 800 mg/kgBB memiliki aktivitas penurunan kadar gula darah dari hari ke-8 sampai hari ke -14 dengan penurunan sebesar 61,33 mg/mL untuk kelompok perlakuan 1 dan 31 mg/ml untuk kelompok perlakuan 2. Kata kunci      : Areca vestiaria, Rattus norvegicus, Tannin, Glukosa darah.

ABSTRACTThe result of phytochemical analysis showed that Pinang Yaki extracts contains tannins, flavonoids and triterpenoid. One of the compounds thought to have antidiabetic activity is flavonoids. Flavonoids are generally thought to regenerate pancreatic beta cell damage due to aloxan induction and can reduce blood glucose levels by stimulating pancreatic beta cell to produce insulin. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of areca nut extract to reduce blood sugar levels of male white wistar rats which are induced by aloxan. This Type of research is laboratory experiments using Complete Random Design (CRD). Twelve rats were divided into 4 treatment groups with each group consisting of 3 rats. The first group was the negative control group (K-) only given aquades, the second Group was positive control (K+) given metformin, group three was the sample treatment group (PS1) with an extract dose of 400 mg, and the sample treatment group (PS2) with an extract dose of 800 mg. Previously rats were examined the fasting blood sugar, then induced aloxan monohydrate dose of 150 mg/kgBW intraperitoneally, and blood sugar levels were examined once in every two days for 7 days. On the 8th  day extract was given and blood sugar levels were examined every two days until the 14th day. The result showed that extract of Pinang Yaki fruit at a dosage of 400 mg  and 800 mg had activities to reduce blood    sugar levels on the 8th to 14th day with a decrease of 38 mg/dL for the PS1 treatment groups and 29 mg/dL for the PS2 sample treatment group. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak buah pinang yaki dosis 400 mg dan 800 mg memiliki aktivitas menurunkan kadar gula darah pada hari ke-8 sampai hari ke-14 dengan penurunan sebesar 38 mg/dL untuk kelompok perlakuan sampel PS1 dan 29 mg/dL untuk kelompok perlakuan sampel PS2. Kata kunci  : Areca vestiaria, Rattus norvegicus, Kadar Gula Darah, Flavonoid

ABSTRACTSesewanua leaves contain flavonoids which can be potentially as antidiabetic. Flavonoids reduce blood sugar levels by capturing free radicals that cause damage to pancreatic beta cells and inhibit pancreatic beta cell damage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of antidiabetic activity on the administration of Sesewanua (Clerodendron squamatum Vahl.) Leaf extracts in wistar white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by Aloxan. This type of research is a laboratory experiment using a completely randomized design. Test animals are grouped into 5 groups each consisting of 3 test animals. The negative control group (K-) was not treated, the positive control group (K +) was given metformin, groups 2, 3, and 4 were treated with different extract concentration of 200, 400, and 800 mg. Before the treatment was done the rats were examined the initial blood sugar level, then induced alloxan monohydrate 120 mg / kg BW intraperitonially (ip), and checked the blood sugar level on the 3rd day and continued with the administration of the leaf extracts of the animal every two days until the 14th day. The results showed that sesewanua leaf extracts with a concentration of 200, 400, and 800mg had a decreased activity in blood sugar levels from day 4 to day 14 with a decrease of 13.66 mg / dL in the concentration group 1, 43 mg / dL in the dose concentration 2, and 103 mg / dL in the concentration group 3. Keywords: Blood Glucose, Clerodendron squamatum Vahl., Flavonoids,  Rattus norvegicus ABSTRAKDaun sesewanua mengandung flavonoid yang dapat berpotensi sebagai antidiabetes. Sebelum perlakuan dilakukan tikus diperiksa kadar gula darah awal, kemudian diinduksi aloksan monohidrat 120 mg/kgBB secara intraperitonial (ip), dan diperiksa kadar gula darah pada hari ke-3 dan dilanjutkan dengan pemberian ekstrak daun sesewanua setiap dua hari sekali sampai hari ke-14. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun sesewanua dengan konsentrasi 200, 400 , dan 800mg memiliki aktivitas penurunan kadar gula darah dari hari ke-4 sampai hari ke-14 dengan penurunan sebesar 13.66 mg/dL pada kelompok konsentrasi 1, 43 mg/dL pada kelompok konsentrasi 2, dan 103 mg/dL pada kelompok konsentrasi 3. Kata Kunci: Clerodendron squamatum Vahl., Flavonoid, Glukosa Darah, Rattus norvegicus

ABSTRACT Background: An increase in blood sugar levels caused diabetes mellitus, and various other health complications. One of the herbal therapy approaches can be used by consuming mahogany seeds which are believed to reduce blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of consuming mahogany seeds to reduce blood sugar levels. Subjects and Method: This was a quasi-experiment with non-randomized control group pretest-posttest design conducted on March 24-26 2020. A sample of 22 respondents was divided into 2 groups: treatment group and control group selected by purposive sampling. The data was collected by observation. The data was analysed by Paired t-test. Results: The treatment group before consuming the dry extract of Mahogany seeds (Mean= 258.27; SD= 46.98), and after consuming the dry extract of Mahogany seeds (Mean= 185.36; SD= 38.85). In the control group, before consuming the extract of Mahogany seed ekring (Mean= 224.27; SD= 14.73), and after consuming Mahogany seed extract (Mean= 213.27; SD= 6.75). It was statistically significant (p= 0.001). Conclusion: Consumption of dry extract of Mahogany seeds effectively reduces blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Consumption of mahogany seeds can be used as a complementary therapy in nursing to reduce blood sugar. Keywords: Consumption of dry extract of Mahogany Seeds, Diabetes Mellitus. The routine and long-term use of oral antidiabetic drugs in DM patients can make the public's perception worried about the side effects of the drug. In the Yakon (SS) plant tuber there is Fructooligosacaraide (FOS) which can reduce blood sugar levels. The research objective was to determine the effect of Yakon plant tubers on blood sugar levels in white rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus model. This type of research was experimental with a pre-post test design with control-group design. Independent variable, administration of Yakon plant tuber powder, dependent variable, blood glucose levels. The sample was divided into 2 groups (dose 1, dose 2) and a control group, each of 6 rats. The mice were given a high carbohydrate diet for 9 weeks. Treatment dose 1 (100 mg / kgBB) for 3 days. Measurement of blood sugar levels using Gluco-Dr. Data analysis used Paired Sample T-test, Independent Sample T-test, and One Way Anova. The results showed that the rats in the treatment group dose 1 experienced a decrease in the average blood sugar level of 122.83 mg / dl (p 0.002) (p 0.009). This shows that there is an effect of using Yakon plant tuber powder on blood sugar levels. The results of this study were the control group and the treatment group dose 1 (Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000, α = 0.05). Meanwhile, the comparison results showed that there was a difference between the control group and the treatment group at dose 1, Based on the above research, Yakon tubers can be used to reduce blood sugar levels.

Smoking is one of the habits that can affect human health. One type of cigarette that is currently the choice is electric cigarettes. The e-cigarette content includes nicotine, propylene glycol, flavorings and glycerin. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of exposure to e-cigarette smoke on mice strain balb / c with the parameters of the number of spermatozoa. This study used 15 male mice which were 8-10 weeks old and weighed 25-30 grams of male mice which were divided into 3 treatment groups namely control group, treatment group one and treatment group two. In the control group no exposure to cigarette smoke was carried out while in the treatment group one was exposed to cigarette smoke in mice with a dose of 0 mg nicotine and the second treatment group was exposed to e-cigarette smoke at a dose of 18 mg nicotine. Electric cigarette smoke exposure is carried out for 30 days using a suction device from a syringe. The exposure of cigarette smoke is carried out every day with successive doses of 20 times as much as 3 times with a time lag of 10 minutes (5 minutes the chamber is closed and 5 minutes of the chamber is opened). The results showed that the average number of spermatozoa in the control group was 16.816 million / ml. The average number of spermatozoa in treatment one was 10.432 million / ml and the average number of spermatozoa in treatment two was 5.234 million / ml. This shows that exposure to cigarette smoke can reduce the number of spermatozoa from the control group to the first treatment by 42.56% and the second treatment shows a decrease from the first group by 34.65%.

AbstractBackground : Diabetes mellitus is the most common metabolic syndrome in the whole world with an incidence of 1-8%. This disease arises when insufficient insulin is produced or insulin cannot function properly.The ability of coriander juice water extract is expected to reduce blood glucose levels because the action is similar to insulin and can stimulate insulin release. Purpose : Knowing effectiveness coriander extract (Coriandrum sativum L.)to decline blood sugar levels in male white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) wistar strain induced by alloxan. Method : This is a pure experimental study (true-experiment) using a pre and post test design with control group design using subjects namely white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) male Wistar strain aged 10-12 weeks with a weight of 150-200 grams. By looking at changes in blood sugar levels during administration of alloxan and administration of coriander extract. Results : There were significant changes in some groups induced alloxan (p <0.05), but the effect of coriander extract was not very significant (p> 0.05). Conclusion : Coriander extract can control blood sugar levels to be stable or normal, but it takes longer and more research.  Keywords : coriander extract, blood sugar levels, alloxan

Diabetes mellitus is a disease or metabolic disorder that is most often found in society, including one of the diseases or metabolic disorders. Tamarind leaves (Tamarindus indica L) is a plant that can be used as an alternative treatment for Diabetes Mellitus which contains flavonoids, sapoin and tannins, which can lower glucose levels and inhibit glucose absorption in the blood. This study aims to determine the differences in blood sugar levels before and after giving tamarind leaves infusion in the village community of Tanjung Bumi. This type of research is Quasy Experiment Design and purposive sampling technique with a sample of 29 respondents. Based on the results of the paired t-test statistical analysis showed a significant difference (p = 0.000) between the blood sugar levels of the group and placebo. Meanwhile, in the posttest the treatment group after giving tamarind leaves showed the same as the control group, namely p = 0.000, which means that there is also a difference in the decrease in blood sugar levels between the sebelum pemberian perlakuan and posttest. The results of statistical tests with the Independent T-Test showed the results in both groups with a value of p = 0.000, meaning that there was a difference in the decrease in blood sugar levels between the control group and the treatment group. Steeping tamarind leaves has an effect in reducing blood sugar levels in the body

Background: Cigarette smoke contains various carcinogenic substances such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and nitrosamines. These chemicals not only have the potential to damage DNA, but can also induce genetic mutations and activate genes that function during apoptosis. Thus, if the gene is dysregulated, it will cause cells to survive, proliferate and subsequently lead to the development of cancerous ones. Histologically, the carcinogenic process affecting the oral cavity starts with hyperplasia and dysplasia, followed by severe dysplasia then leading to invasive cancer and metastatic processes in other bodies. Purpose: This study aims to reveal the correlation between exposure to cigarette smoke and the degree of epithelial dysplasia evident in research subjects. Methods: This study used 27 samples of Rattus norvegicus tongue, divided into three groups, namely; a control group, a treatment group subjected to four weeks’ exposure to cigarette smoke, and a treatment group subjected to exposure lasting eight weeks. Each rat was placed in an individual chamber and exposed to smoke from 20 cigarettes introduced by a pump via a pipe for 7.5 minutes. The degree of epithelial dysplasia in each case was subsequently observed microscopically using HE staining technique. Results: Mild epithelial dysplasia increased by 0.82%, during the fourth week of exposure to cigarette smoke and by 2.99% during the eighth week. Similarly, moderate epithelial dysplasia rose by 5.29% during the fourth week of exposure and 5.99% during the eighth week. Severe epithelial dysplasia also increased by 2.2% during the fourth week of exposure and by 2.66% during the eighth week. Conclusion: The longer the exposure to cigarette smoke, the higher the degree of ensuing dysplasia.

Abstract: People sure that onion bulbs ( Allium cepa L ) has a lot of advantage for health one of which is to lower blood sugar levels. The objective of this research were study the effectiveness of administration of onion bulbs extract on blood glucose levels of Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by alloxan. The subject of research using laboratory animals such as male Wistar rats that were 18 samples were divided into 6 groups, the negative control group, and 5 groups of Wistar rats with alloxan-induced hyperglycemic dose of 130 mg / kg body weight of rats. In the group with hyperglycemic rats given onion bulbs extract at a dose of 9 mg, 18 mg, and 36 mg / 200 g body weight of rats, the positive control group was given novomix flexpen, and 1 group were only given alloxan. Data obtained from the results of blood sugar tests in all groups Wistar rats on the first day, second day, third in minutes 0, 6, 12, 18, and 24 hours. Subjek penelitian menggunakan hewan uji berupa tikus wistar jantan yang berjumlah 18 ekor yang dibagi dalam 6 kelompok, kelompok kontrol negatif, dan 5 kelompok tikus wistar hiperglikemik yang diinduksi aloksan dengan dosis 130 mg/kg berat badan tikus. Kelompok tikus hiperglikemik diberi ekstrak umbi bawang merah dengan dosis 9 mg, 18 mg, dan 36 mg/ 200 g BB tikus, kelompok kontrol positif diberikan novomix flexpen, dan 1 kelompok yang hanya diberikan aloksan. Data diperoleh dari hasil pemeriksaan gula darah pada semua kelompok tikus wistar pada hari pertama, hari kedua, ketiga pada menit ke- 0, jam ke- 6, 12, 18, dan 24. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian ekstrak umbi bawang merah (Allium cepa L) mempunyai efek terhadap penurunan kadar gula darah tikus Wistar yang telah diinduksi aloksan.Kata kunci: Allium cepa L, Umbi Bawang Merah, Kadar Gula Darah, Aloksan

Diabetes Mellitus is known as a syndrome, a collection of disorders with high blood glucose level & glucose intolerance as its feature, either because of insulin deficiency or insulin impairment or both. Diabetes Mellitus, based on insulin, is broadly classified into two types. Type one indicates the distraction of pancreatic β - cells that leads to diabetes mellitus, in which insulin is necessary to prevent ketoacidosis, coma, death. Type two diabetes is characterized by disorders of insulin resistance & secretion. Male Wistar albino rats with an average weight of 180-250 g were used in this study. With a 12 hours’ light and dark period, they were kept under normal conditions (room temperature 24-27oC and humidity 60-65 %). The free access of drinking water & pellet diet to male Wistar albino rats was allowed, as per the CPCSEA guidelines. Anti-diabetic activity of Compound 2-(4- [(2-hydroxyacetyl benzyl) ketoamino]-phenyl amino-methyl)- hydrobenzophenon, male Wistar albino rats were divided into four different groups. 1ml of blood samples were collected directly into anticoagulant bottles from the tail vein & later plasma was collected after centrifugation. Blood sugar levels were determined by spectrophotometer. There was a significant decrease in blood sugar levels in Alloxan + Glibenclamide and Alloxan + Compound groups on compared to control. The present self-funded study concludes that antidiabetic activity of 2-(4- [(2-hydroxyacetyl benzyl) ketoamino]-phenyl amino-methyl)- hydrobenzophenon in Alloxan induced diabetic rats significantly shows decreed blood sugar levels when compared to the control group.
