Developing 21st century reading competencies is one of the primary concerns of higher education institutions (HEIs). Initiatives have been undertaken to prepare the learners to function effectively in this technology-driven society. Hence, academic institutions integrate technology and the Internet in the teaching-learning processes. This study intends to determine the effectiveness of an instructional material on developing reading competencies using blended instruction. Dziuban, Hartman and Moskal, (2004) define blended instruction as a pedagogical approach that integrate the effectiveness and socialization opportunities of the classroom with the technologically enhanced active learning possibilities of the online environment. Six lessons were implemented in the English 107 – College Reading Skills classes. The learners were provided with hypertext reading activities, individual and collaborative tasks, online discussions, online surveys and other extension activities which provided them with the opportunity to communicate their ideas on the topics discussed in class. To determine the effectiveness of the lessons, a one-group pretest and post-test design was used.  The pre-test and post-test scores were compared using the paired t-test. Findings reveal that the students performed better after the implementation of the lessons in developing reading competencies using blended instruction. Moreover, majority of the students said that the lessons are interesting, meaningful, useful and enjoyable. It can be concluded that blended instruction effectively develops the students’ reading competencies.

Doing reading comprehension needs active process in doing. The suitable teaching-learning process must achieve the objective of reading comprehension. In fact, reading skill is not easy. Lecturer should use good strategy in teaching about reading comprehension. It also happens for students that they find some hard in doing reading comprehension well. They can’t get good value for understanding the text meaning. So, the strategy is very useful to solve the difficulties in reading comprehension. This study is concerned with the reading effect about descriptive text through Metacognition strategy application. This study learns about students reading skills in descriptive text. This research is conducted based on experimental quantitative design which has two randomized subject. The population were Health Information Management students at Deli Husada Deli Tua Health Institute grade I, II and III. The random sample was taken from grade I and III as group of experimental and grade II as the control group. In every group was given pre-test and post-test in same test but the experimental group accepted the treatment of Metacognition strategy in the study. The result of this research showed that there was difference between the mean of the group of experimental and the group of control. The statistic calculation showed that t-observed (4.1) is higher than t-table (1.67) for the degree of freedom (df) 58 at the level α = 0.05 level of significance. It proves that Metacognition strategy has significantly effect on students’ reading comprehension in reading descriptive text.

Abstrak - Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan team teaching pada materi pokok format teks halaman web terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas X TKJ 1 SMK  Malaka Jakarta.Penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan penelitian pra eksperimental dengan model one-group pre-test post-test design. Sampel penelitian diambil secara acak sebanyak 30 siswa. Perlakuan yang diberikan pada siswa yaitu siswa diajar menggunakan metode pembelajaran team teaching (tim pengajar). Sebelum diberi perlakuan, siswa diberikan pre-test untuk mengetahui kemampuan awal siswa, kemudian setelah diberi perlakuan siswa diberikan post-test untuk mengetahui sejauh mana peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa tes, pada tes ini soal-soal diberikan dalam bentuk pilihan ganda.Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa tes, pada tes ini soal-soal diberikan dalam bentuk pilihan ganda. Dari hasil analisa data pada uji hipotesis didapat harga yaitu 25,15 dan  untuk satu pihak yaitu 2,462, bila dibandingkan antara  dan  maka  >  atau 25,15 > 2,462.Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil adalah terdapat pengaruh terhadap hasil belajar siswa yang diajar menggunakan metode pembelajaran team teaching, khususnya untuk materi pokok format teks halaman web. Kata Kunci : Metode, Pembelajaran, Pengaruh, Team Teaching, hasil belajar, SMK Malaka Jakarta.   Abstract - The purpose of this research is to know the influence of the implementation of team teaching on the subject matter of the text format of the web page to the learning result of the students of class X TKJ 1 SMK Malaka Jakarta. The research is an experimental pre experiment with one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample was taken randomly as many as 30 students. The treatment given to students is that students are taught using Teaching Teaching Method (Teaching Teams). Before being treated, students are given a pre-test to determine the students' initial ability, then after being given the students treatment is given a post-test to find out how far the improvement of student learning outcomes. Instrument data collection in the form of test, in this test the questions are given in the form of multiple choice. From the results of data analysis on the hypothesis test obtained price of  is 25,15 and for one party is 2.462, when compared between  and , then > or 25,15> 2,462. The conclusion that can be taken is there is an influence on the learning outcomes of students who are taught using teaching team teaching methods, especially for the subject matter of text format web pages. Learning a second language can be challenging and demanding, especially for teachers, as they are required to continuously innovate and improve their teaching by integrating new strategies and techniques into the classroom environment. Hence, the present study intents to examine the effect of board games  activities on Iraqi Preparatory school students’ reading skills. A quantitative research method is adopted, and a sample of (30) preparatory school students is randomly chosen to exemplify the two sets of the research (the control and experimental groups). The study adopts a pre-test post-test design to measure the influence of the strategy. The first hypothesis is accepted, and the researcher concluded that indeed board games  activities help in developing the students’ reading skills; however, other studies could concur or find different results.

Learning of reading provides students with the knowledge and ability to master reading techniques, and capture the reading content well and be able to write it correctly. Reading activities become part of human life in everyday life, through reading activities we can find knowledge, and open insights.This study aims to describe students' reading ability with the application of fast-reading smart books that have previously been developed in previous research. The method in this study is a quantitative approach with a type of experimental research that uses pre test post test design. The subjects in this study were grade 1 students of SD Islam Terpadu Asslafiyyah Pambon Tuban with a total of 7 students. The results of the student's research were completed with KKM ≥70 with a percentage of student completion obtained by 100%. After the calculation of The Normality Gain Test explained that the improvement of learning outcomes obtained an increase in the high category with the number of 5 students, and moderate 2 students. Psychomotor observations gained an average of 94. So it can be said that the use of Smart Book Quick Read that has been in grade 1 of SD Islam Terpadu Assalafiyyah Pambon Tuban can improve the cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes of students

ABSTRACT Objective: To assess the effectiveness of an educational hypermedia in the knowledge of Nursing academics on peripheral venipuncture. Method: Quasi-experimental study with pre and post-test design. Results: The mean number of right answers of the 73 individuals who participated in the study, in the pre-test, was 7.7 (DP = 1.05), and 8.3 in the post-test (DP = 0.74). The comparation of pre and post hypermedia mean number of right answers showed significant difference (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Hypermedia is a strategy that increases knowledge and is feasible in the teaching-learning process, being useful as a support tool for teachers and for the development of undergraduate Nursing students.

ABSTRAK Berbagai masalah gizi diderita oleh sebagian besar masyarakat Indonesia dan salah satu masalah gizi utama adalah anemia gizi besi. Salah satu upaya untuk memperbaiki pola konsumsi pangan dan pola kebiasaan yang bertujuan untuk menanggulangi anemia dikalangan masyarakat terutama ibu hamil dengan melalui peningkatan pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku seseorang dengan penyuluhan gizi dan mengonsumsi tablet tambah darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh penyuluhan gizi, asupan gizi dan pemberian tablet tambah darah terhadap kadar hemoglobin ibu hamil di Puskesmas Paccerakkang Kota Makassar. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik dengan rancangan one-group pre-test and post-test design. Data diperoleh dari hasil Pre test dan Post test menggunakan kuesioner, pengambilan Hb, recall 24 jam dan data tablet tambah darah yang di konsumsi. Kadar hemoglobin ibu hamil pada awalnya anemia (100%) dan pada akhir terdapat sebanyak 8 orang (53,33%). Hasil pre dan post test ibu hamil yang memiliki criteria baik sebelum mendapatkan penyuluhan gizi sebanyak 2 orang (13,33 %) dan setelah mendapatkan penyuluhan gizi sebanyak 4  orang (26,67%). Asupan gizi (energi) ibu hamil yang memiliki criteria asupan baik di awal sebanyak 1  orang (6,67 %) dan di akhir sebanyak 9  orang (60%). Asupan gizi (protein) baik di awal sebanyak 3 orang (20 %) dan di akhir sebanyak 4  orang (26,67%). Pada umumnya asupan Fe di awal dan di akhir dari 15 ibu hamil 100% tergolong kurang. Ibu hamil yang mengkonsumsi tablet tambah darah dengan baik sebanyak 6 orang (40%). Disarankan ibu hamil turut berpartisipasi setiap pemeriksaan rutin yang diadakan oleh Puskesmas guna mencegah terjadinya masalah gizi.

<p><em>Buerger Allen Exercise</em> mampu meningkatkan pemakaian glukosa oleh otot yang aktif sehingga glukosa dalam darah dapat menurun, dapat membantu mencegah terjadinya penyakit arteri perifer, serta meningkatkan aliran darah ke arteri dan berefek positif pada metabolisme glukosa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai <em>ankle brachial index</em>pada penderita diabetes melitus tipe 2setelah melakukan <em>Buerger Allen exercise</em>. Jenis penelitian ini adalah <em>quasy-experiment </em>dengan<em> pre-post test design with control group</em><em>.</em> Jumlah sampel 60 penderita diabetes melitus tipe 2 dengan <em>purposive sampling</em>, dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok yaitu kelompok perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol. Responden kelompok perlakuan diberikan intervensi <em>Buerger Allen exercise</em> sebanyak 12 kali  selama 15 hari.Penelitian dilakukan di wilayah Puskesmas Kecamatan Nganjuk.Data hasilpengukuran nilai <em>ankle brachial index</em>berupa ratio dan diuji statistik dengan <em>Paired Samples Test</em>. Didapatkan <em>p value</em> 0.001 untuk kelompok perlakuan (<em>p value</em>&lt; 0.05) yang menunjukkan bahwa adanya perubahan bermakna secara statistik nilai <em>ankle brachial index</em> sesudah melakukan <em>Buerger Allen exercise</em>. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa nilai <em>ankle brachial index</em>pada penderita diabetes melitus tipe 2 meningkat sesudah melakukan <em>Buerger Allen exercise</em>.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Kata kunci :penderita diabetes melitus tipe2, <em>Buerger Allen Exercise, Ankle brachial index</em></strong></p><p> </p>

Depression in eldery couldn’t be easily detected because physical complaint was more often than emotional complaint. In severe case, depression could cause suicidal behaviour (Irawan, 2013). Therefore, elderly need assistance to deal with depression, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is one of the solution. Research design is pre-experimental design, using pre-test and post-test design. Before intervention, Geriatric Depression Scale test were given to one group of elder people. EFT intervention were given two times for four weeks, and Geriatric Depression Scale test were tested after intervention. Population was elder people who fulfill inclusion criterias, and 30 elderly were obatained. The significancy result was 0,000 (α = 0,05), it could be inferred that EFT has a strong relationship to depression scale. EFT could significantly reduce depression scale in elderly, so it can bes used effectively.

Hepatitis has become a health problem in the world. The hepatitis virus infected many people. According to the teacher of MTsN 02 Bondowoso more than 20 students have hepatitis A viral infection. The purpose of this research was to know the differences of students' knowledge about hepatitis A before and after counseling in MTsN 02 Bondowoso 2015. This study used pre-experimental (pre-post test design). This study used stratified random sampling technique, 127 students from 270 sample involved this research,and 143 students was excluded. We used questionnaires to collect data. The results showed that the mean value of the students 'knowledge about hepatitis A before counseling in MTsN 02 Bondowoso 2015 was 83.96 with the lowest value of 37.5 and the highest value was 100. The mean value of the students' knowledge about hepatitis A after counseling in MTsN 02 Bondowoso 2015 was 93.21 with the lowest value waf 62.5 and the highest value was 100. Paired t test showed that t (-9.07) > t table (1.98), the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. There was a difference between students' knowledge about hepatitis A before and after counseling in MTsN 02 Bondowoso 2015. This study showed that routine counseling by healthcare provider was important to prevent hepatitis A infection.; Keywords: counseling, knowledge of students, hepatitis

Guiding is a branch of oral communication. In oral communication, guiding can be included as productive skill. English guiding is one of the academic lessons in the fourth semester. Being a tour guide is a very important job in tourism part. In many cases, the tour guide is a traveller's first impression of a foreign country. In other cases a tour guide may be responsible for teaching tourists about the culture and sites in a city or town. Improving students’ communicative skill is the goal of teaching English guiding, because the student can express themselves and know how to use language well. In the real situation in teaching guide process, lecturer cannot escape from reality. It occurs because there are some problems faced by the lecture and the student. The lecturer cannot make student pay attention; make the students’ lack of creativity in making interactive guiding topics, and engagement in whole teaching learning process. This research applied photovoice as a technique to increase the student’s ability in speaking English guiding. Photovoice is suitable technique in teaching speaking skill in English guiding because it gives student chance to communicate with different context and different social by photo as a learning media. This reviews were taken from Beverly Palibroda (2009) Photovoice implementation and Speaking Assessment from Brown Lavinson (2004). This research was conducted by three cycles such as: pre-test, cycle I and cycle II. In composing this research the writer used qualitative descriptive method by classroom action research (CAR).             The result of this research showed that the mean score in pre-test before implementing Photovoice clearly showed that the ability of the subject under study was relatively “ fairly satisfactory ” in the level of mastery of speaking rubric. There were increasing in cycle I after implementing Photovoice technique. The result of the data analysis of the reflection score in cycle I showed increasing the mean score of 7.11 It was higher than the result of pre-test. In the cycle II, which the treatment was more intensive in order of weakness of the students had been known. The result of the data anaysis of reflection or post-test in cycle II that the mean score was 8.18. The different between mean score in cycle I and II was 1.07. It showed that the student’s speaking guiding ability improved after the researcher applied the photovoice thecnique to the students.
