This research work depicts the importance of implementing those punishment Islam prescribed against physical injury. Those punishments which involve physical injuries are mainly focused. After establishing the validity of Islamic punishments, the writer has elaborated the punishment of those who kill or cause injuries to others unintentionally. Considering the sensitivity of legal retribution Muslim jurists have set forth certain conditions which must be met before decreeing any capital punishment. According the writer Islamic punishments hold the features of all contemporary theories namely; deterrent, preventive, retributive or reformative etc. This work has addressed the following questions: How much importance does Islam give to peace and order? How for Islamic penalties play a role in keeping peace in a society? How Islam has a different perspective as compared to secular schools of punishments? What conditions Islam prescribes for implementation of any punishment? How Islam distinguishes between a deliberate killing and killing by mistake? What are the conditions of implementing legal retribution? What is the overall impact of an Islamic punishment? Relying upon quantitative method the writer attempts to elucidate on those propositions which were not clear otherwise. He relied upon those texts only which were authentic and unambiguous.  Each topic is discussed in the light of different Islamic schools of thought. The researcher has added his own opinion as well where it is necessary to illuminate the subject.

The current work deals with experimental tests concerning the behaviour of different materials used in chemical industry when are exposed to diverse corrosions environments. During the research work four different metals have been tested, namely T15NiCr180, T15MoNiCr180, W4027 and W4059. The presented work is trying to classify the tested materials function to different chemical environment, different concentration of the environment, different temperature of the environment, and different expose time. Some of the substances which were considered as corrosion environment are: HNO3, H3PO4, NaCl, NH4Cl, C2H5OH, Petrol, NH4NO3, KNO3, K2CO3, Na2CO3, KMnO4, KOH and Ca (OH)2. The concentration of the corrosion solutions varies between 1% and 96%. Tests have been done at room temperature and hot environment of 100°C. Time is playing an important role on evolution of the corrosion. For this reason the samples have been analyzed after 48, 336, 720 and 2160 hours of exposes to chemical agents. To understand the comportment of the subject metals when are used in industry, samples have been tested for longer period of time, respectively 1, 3, 6 and 12 months. After each selected period of time the metallic samples were analyzed and measured to quantify the effect of the environment on the corrosion speed.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to critically analyse the concept of unfair dismissal and to assess the extent to which the Employment Rights Act 2008 is affording protection to employees in Mauritius. The purpose of this study is to also demonstrate that as employees form an integral part of their workplace, their employment cannot be terminated without substantive and procedural fairness. The paper will provide some recommendations to cater for loopholes in existing Mauritius employment legislations. Design/Methodology/Approach To critically examine the topic, the black letter approach is adopted to detail legislations and judgments of courts on the subject matter. A comparative analysis with some other jurisdictions’ employment legislations is also carried out to define, explain and examine the concepts of dismissal, substantive causes such as misconduct and procedural fairness. Findings From the methodologies used, it is found that a substantial reason is not sufficient to conclude whether a dismissal is fair. The law of unfair dismissal has introduced some procedural safeguards to protect the employee from being unfairly and unjustifiably dismissed. The procedural requirements act as guidelines to employers and if they are not followed properly, the dismissal will be unfair. Unfair dismissal needs to be accompanied by remedies from employers, and monetary compensation has been found to be the most appropriate remedy. Originality/Value This paper is amongst the first research work conducted in Mauritius that compares the law of unfair dismissal and its implications with the laws of England and South Africa. The study is carried out with a view to provide practical recommendations in this area of employment law to the relevant stakeholders concerned.

The Domain Name System - DNS is regarded as one of the critical infrastructure component of the global Internet because a large-scale DNS outage would effectively take a typical user offline. Therefore, the Internet community should ensure that critical components of the DNS ecosystem - that is, root name servers, top-level domain registrars and registries, authoritative name servers, and recursive resolvers - function smoothly. To this end, the community should monitor them periodically and provide public alerts about abnormal behavior. The authors propose a novel quantitative approach for evaluating the health of authoritative name servers – a critical, core, and a large component of the DNS ecosystem. The performance is typically measured in terms of response time, reliability, and throughput for most of the Internet components. This research work proposes a novel list of parameters specifically for determining the health of authoritative name servers: DNS attack permeability, latency comparison, and DNSSEC validation.

The great diversity of prosthetic mechanisms available nowadays leads to the question of which type of artificial foot would be the most advisable for a particular person. To answer correctly, it is necessary to establish, in an objective way, the performance of each type of prosthetic mechanism. This knowledge is obtained by means of the study of the subject-prosthesis interaction, both in static and dynamic conditions. This paper, based on the analysis of 8 transtibial (TT) amputees, presents a quantitative method for the study of human gait which allows the determination of the influence of four different prosthetic ankle-foot mechanisms (SACH, Single-axis, Greissinger and Dynamic) on gait. To do this, 1341 gait trials at different cadences were analysed (383 with normal subjects and 958 with amputees, using the four prosthetic feet under study). From all the variables available for study only those which offered interpretable clinical information were chosen for analysis. A total of 18 variables (kinetic, kinematic and time-related) were selected. A covariance analysis (ANOVA) of these variables was made, which showed that the factors influencing TT amputee gait were, in order of importance, cadence and leg studied (sound or prosthetic), inter-individual variability and, finally, the prosthetic mechanism used. When looking at the performance during gait of the 4 prosthetic mechanisms studied it can be observed that there are similarities in the kinetic study between SACH and Dynamic feet on one hand and Single-axis and Greissinger feet on the other. These results seem to support the classification criteria of articulated and non-articulated prosthetic mechanisms.

The subject I have to talk about this evening is one on which many previous papers have been read before this Society, so I am afraid I must ask you not to expect much original material from me. Practically the whole of the material I have gathered together is the result of practical experience, and from this point of view I hope it will prove interesting.During recent years considerable development has been done and good progress made with both the design and operation of big flying boats. Also, the Schneider Cup races have caused a considerable amount of research work to be done on the development of twin float seaplanes, particularly with regard to taking off the water at very high speeds and also to the air resistance of the floats. In the last year we have seen the advent of the Dornier Do.X the largest flying boat yet constructed, whose total flying weight approximates to 50 tons.
