The study was designed as a mixed method. The quantitative dimension of the research was designed as a single group experimental study and the prepared academic achievement test was applied before and after the study. In the qualitative dimension, phenomenology was applied and the data were collected through audio-recorded interviewing. The quantitative study group of the research consists of 10 students, and the qualitative phase consists of 5 students. The obtained data were analyzed through the statistical program in the quantitative phase and content analysis in the qualitative dimension. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the use of digital comics in distance education increases the success and helps to develop positive behaviors towards the course.

Distance education, which is thought to become more widespread in the near future, has become important with the COVID-19 pandemic. Distance education has been used as an important method for the continuity of education and training in this process where it is not possible to continue face-to-face education. Due to the sudden transition to distance education, it has been a matter of curiosity how this process has been realized and what effects it has had (Karahan at al.,2020, p.1). This study was conducted to determine the effects of the distance education process put into practice during the pandemic process on students based on teachers' opinions. The sample consisted of 70 teachers who were working in different branches and different regions in Turkey in the academic year of 2020-2021. In the study, a questionnaire developed by the researchers was used as a data collection tool. As a result of the research, it was found that distance education had both positive and negative effects on students, students were affected negatively in terms of social and emotional development aspects, and screen addiction problems may be encountered because they cannot socialize. Again, it was concluded that distance education negatively affects disadvantaged students and may reduce their academic success, and parent involvement in the process has both positive and negative effects. Several previous studies have shown that students have difficulty integrating ethnoscience into science learning. Students are more likely to be introduced to the basic concepts of ethnoscience without involving how to integrate ethnoscience into science learning. The impact is that students’ scientific literacy is low. This is what underlies researchers to apply the Local Wisdom Integrated Science (LWIS) learning model by using local Madurese content to train students’ scientific literacy. The aim of this study was to evaluate differences in student scientific literacy after implementing the LWIS learning model in ethnoscience learning with local Madurese content. The method used was pre-experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design. When the study was carried out in the even semester of the 2019/2020 academic year by taking 22 students via purposive sampling technique as a sample of all students in class 6A of science education, Trunojoyo University, Madura. Analysis of data using descriptive statistics and paired sample t test. The results showed that there were different in the scientific literacy of the students using the LWIS learning model before and after studying ethnoscience with local Madurese material. The entire LWIS syntax helps train students' scientific literacy by including self-awareness of the importance of local Madurese content as a learning context. Ethnoscience can be integrated into science learning through the STEAM approach. The contribution of STEAM to the LWIS learning model and self-awareness is very significant in developing ethnoscience learning for local Madurese content from elementary, middle, and tertiary level.

Academic success is a popular topic of psychological and pedagogical studies, but such studies usually emphasize factors that affect academic success or variables associated with it.What constitutes academic success remains an open question if at all posited.Researchers tend to use simplified operationalizations, mainly the academic performance, and ignore the students’ point of view. The purpose of this study is to clarify students’ perceptions of academic success.A qualitative analysis of in-depth interviews about learning experience was conducted. The study involved 20 students from various Moscow universities who completed their first academic year (aged 17—42).The technique of reflective thematic analysis was applied.Main themes are the following: “Performance” (learning is considered successful if grades are high and there are no academic troubles), “Knowledge” (learning is successful if the curriculum is being assimilated, or professional knowledge increasing, of one’s horizons are expanding), “Sense of self” (learning is considered successful if there is interest in studying, enthusiasm, as well as internal comfort and/or self-development).Themes are arranged in a sequence, moving from external criteria to internal ones.A number of contradictions are found in the informants’ perceptions of success. In the continuum of themes, different understandings of success are attributed to different instances (university, profession, life activities, Self) and allow us to see the diversity and inconsistency of higher education meanings that explain the observed paradoxes.

The sample group of the study consists of 130 students who received distance education at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University State Conservatory during the COVID-19 pandemic. The quantitative data of the study were obtained via the "Computer Self-Efficacy Perception Scale" developed by Aşkar and Umay, and the academic success scores were obtained through correspondence with the conservatory administration. The demographic characteristics of the participants including gender, branch, age, and class information in the sample group were collected through a form prepared by the researcher. SPSS 21.0 program was used in the analysis of the research data. The data was analysed using a t-test, ANOVA and correlation and regression analyses. According to the results of the research, there is a positive, significant, and moderate relationship between conservatory students' computer self-efficacy perceptions and their academic success scores in distance education. The current study revealed that conservatory students' computer self-efficacy perceptions are a predictor of the academic success scores in distance education and can explain 30.2% of the academic success score. Gender, branch, age, and class variables do not have a significant effect on academic success scores and computer self-efficacy perceptions.
