ABSTRACT          This study aims to assess cholesterol, uric acid and blood glucose levels in laying hens which are fed with the addition of betel leaf juice (Piper Bettle Linn). There were 16 chickens used in layer phase hens. The cage used is an individual cage equipped with a place for feeding and drinking water. The treatments in this study consisted of: (P0) commercial feed + 0 ml of betel leaf juice, (P1) commercial feed + 5 ml of betel leaf juice, (P2) commercial feed + 10 ml of betel leaf juice, and (P3) commercial feed + 15 ml of betel leaf juice. The variables observed were cholesterol, uric acid and blood glucose levels. The data obtained from the research results were analyzed using variance and continued with Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed that the administration of betel leaf juice had no significant effect (p <0.05) on cholesterol, uric acid and blood glucose levels in layer phase hens. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the administration of betel leaf juice does not affect the amount of cholesterol, uric acid, and glucose levels in layer phase hens, but these conditions are still in normal physiological conditions. Keywords: uric acid, layer hens, glucose, cholesterol ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tentang kadar kolesterol, asam urat dan glukosa darah ayam petelur yang diberi penambahan jus daun sirih (Piper betle Linn) pada level yang berbeda. Ayam yang digunakan sebanyak 16 ekor induk ayam petelur betina fase layer. Kandang yang digunakan yaitu kandang individu yang dilengkapi dengan tempat pakan dan air minum. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini terdiri atas: (P0) pakan basal + 0 ml jus daun sirih,  (P1) pakan basal + 5 ml jus daun sirih,  (P2) pakan basal + 10 ml jus daun sirih, dan (P3) pakan basal + 15 ml jus daun sirih. Variabel yang diamati adalah kadar kolesterol, asam urat, dan glukosa darah. Data yang diperoleh dari hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian jus daun sirih tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata (p<0.05) terhdadap kadar kolesterol, asam urat dan glukosa darah ayam petelur fase layer. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian jus daun sirih tidak mempengaruhi jumlah kadar kolestero, asam urat, dan glukosa ayam petelur fase layer, namun kondisi tersebut masih dalam kondisi fisiologis normal. This research aims to examine the hemoglobin level and the total leukocyte differential in the blood of laying hens fed with different levels of betel leaf juice (Piper betle Linn). There were 32 laying hens in layer phase. The cage used is an individual cage equipped with a place for feeding and drinking water. The treatments in this research consisted of: (P0) drinking water + 0 ml of betel leaf juice, (P1) drinking water + 5 ml of betel leaf juice, (P2) drinking water + 10 ml of betel leaf juice, and (P3) drinking water + 15 ml of betel leaf juice. The variables observed were hemoglobin level, leukocyte differential (lymphocytes, heterophils, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils) and the heterophils / lymphocyte ratio (H/L). The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance and then continued with Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed that the addition of betel leaf juice had no significant effect (p> 0.05) on the levels of hemoglobin, lymphocytes, heterophils, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils and the H/L ratio of laying hens’ blood. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the addition of betel leaf juice at different levels does not affect the levels of hemoglobin, lymphocytes, heterophils, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils and the H/L ratio of laying hens’ blood, but these conditions are still in normal physiological conditions.

The purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness of red betel leaf infusion (Piper crocatum) as anti-obesity in mice (Mus musculus). Other parameters of this study to know the relationship between changes in blood glucose levels to obesity in experimental animals. Experimental animals used were 24 male mice. The design of this research is completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments 6 repetitions. There are four treatmens P0 (Control), P1 (6 mice by giving a betel leaf infusion with a concentration of 5%), P2 (6 mice by giving a betel leaf infusion with a concentration of 10%), and P3 (6 mice by giving a betel leaf infusion with a concentration of red 15%). The treatment is carried out once every day for 21 days. Before treatment, initial weight was weighed and blood glucose level examination continued on the 7th day, on the 14th day, and on the 21st day. Data obtained from the results of weighing and checking blood sugar levels were further analyzed using the ANOVA test which statistically showed no significant changes (P> 0.05) of body weight and blood glucose levels in mice (Mus musculus) given infusion red betel leaf (Piper crocatum).

Abstract Patients with type 2 diabetes relative insulin deficiency so that blood glucose regulation becomes screwed, eventually causing hyperglycemia. When it is left untreated can lead to complications. Complications in diabetic patients undergoing indicate hospitalization for management of blood glucose levels. Such conditions often make the patient stress and anxiety experiencing great that ultimately may increase blood glucose levels. Autogenic relaxation is the relaxation that comes from yourself form of words or short sentences or thoughts that can make the mind peaceful. Autogenic relaxation response can divert our bodies consciously by the command of yourself, it can help fight the harmful effects of stress. Autogenic relaxation could be expected to control blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of autogenic relaxation on blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes. Research design was quasi-experimental with pre and post with control group, for each sample group consisted of 31 people with consecutive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate. The statistical test used the Wilcoxon Sign-Range Test and Mann Whitney U . Analysis showed there is effect of autogenic relaxation to decrease blood glucose levels (p = 0.001). The conclusion of study, there are significant autogenic relaxation to decrease blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. Results of this study can be input for nursing services to make the autogenic relaxation womanly one independent nursing interventions in providing nursing care to patients with DM Type 2 Keywords: Autogenic relaxation, blood glucose levels, type 2 diabetes   Abstrak Pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 relatif mengalami kekurangan insulin sehingga pengaturan kadar glukosa darah menjadi tidak terkontrol, pada akhirnya menyebabkan hiperglikemia. Bilamana hal ini tidak ditangani dapat menyebabkan komplikasi. Komplikasi pada diabetes mengindikasikan pasien menjalani perawatan di rumah sakit untuk pengelolaan kadar glukosa darah. Kondisi seperti ini sering membuat pasien stres dan mengalami kecemasan yang hebat sehingga dapat meningkatkan kadar glukosa darah. Relaksasi autogenik merupakan relaksasi yang bersumber dari diri sendiri berupa kata-kata atau kalimat pendek atau pikiran yang dapat membuat pikiran tentram. Relaksasi autogenik dapat mengalihkan respon tubuh kita secara sadar berdasarkan perintah dari diri sendiri, maka dapat membantu melawan efek stres yang berbahaya. Relaksasi autogenik diduga dapat mengontrol kadar glukosa darah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh relaksasi autogenik terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah pada pasien DM Tipe 2. Desain penelitian ini kuasi eksperimen dengan pre and post with control group, untuk masing-masing kelompok terdiri 31 orang sampel dengan tehnik  consecutive sampling. Data dianalisis secara univariat dan bivariat. Uji statistik yang digunakan Wilcoxon Sign Range Test dan Mann Whitney U. Hasil analisis menunjukkan ada pengaruh relaksasi autogenik terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah (p=0,001). Kesimpulan penelitian ini, ada pengaruh relaksasi autogenik terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi masukan bagi pelayanan keperawatan untuk menjadikan relaksasi autogenik menjasi salah satu intervensi keperawatan mandiri dalam memberikan asuhan keperawatan pada pasien DM Tipe 2. Recent studies have introduced serum uric acid (UA) as a potential risk factor for developing diabetes, hypertension, stroke, and cardiovascular diseases. The value of elevated levels of UA in serum as a risk factor for diabetes development is still under scrutiny. Recent data suggest that clearance of UA is being reduced with increase in insulin resistance and UA as a marker of prediabetes period. However, conflicting data related to UA in serum of patients with Type 2 diabetes prompted us to study the urine/serum ratio of UA levels (USRUA) in these patients and healthy controls. All subjects included in the study were free of evidence of hepatitis B or C viral infection or active liver and kidney damage. Patients receiving drugs known to influence UA levels were also excluded from this study. Analysis of glucose and uric acid were performed on Dade Behring analyzer using standard IFCC protocols. Interestingly, our data demonstrated about 2.5 fold higher USRUA values in diabetic patients as compared to control subjects. Furthermore, there was a trend of correlation of USRUA value with the blood glucose levels in diabetic patients, which was more prominent in diabetic men than in women. With aging, levels of uric acid increased in serum of diabetic patients, and this effect was also more profound in male than in female diabetics. In conclusion, this study showed significantly elevated USRUA levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes, a negative USRUA correlation with the blood glucose levels in diabetic patients, and an effect of sex and age on the uric acid levels. Since literature data suggest a strong genetic effect on UA levels, it would be pertinent to perform further, possibly genetic studies, in order to clarify gender and ethnic differences in UA concentrations.

Background Uric acid is an adjunct product of normal metabolism of the digestion of protein foods containing purines or from the decomposition of purines (damaged body cells), which should be excreted through the kidneys, feces or sweat. While blood glucose levels should be maintained in sufficient concentration to provide nutrients for the organs of the body. Conversely, too high glucose concentrations can also have negative effects such as osmotic diuresis and cell dehydration.The purpose of this study was to determine the description of uric acid levels, blood glucose and level of knowledge of the elderly in Samsam Village, Kerambitan District, Tabanan Regency.Method, The type of research used is descriptive. The population in this study were all elderly in Samsam village area with sample size of 57 samples. Sampling technique used Nonprobability Sampling and sampling with Accidental Sampling.Result.From 57 respondents, there were 14 men (25%), women 43 people (75%), age group ≤ 60 years were 18 persons (32%) and age group 60 years were 39 people (68% ). The results of examination of uric acid levels of respondents in the normal category of 7 people (12%) and high 50 people (88%). Blood Glucose Levels when the respondents were normal 52 people (91%) and high 5 people (9%). Knowledge of respondents was 22 people (39%) in good category and 35 people (61%) in medium category.Conclusion, as many as 88% of respondents have high uric acid levels, 9% of respondents have high blood glucose levels and 61% of respondents have knowledge in the category of being Keywords: Uric Acid Level, Blood Glucose, Elderly’s knowledge

Abstract: Forest betel leaf (Piper aduncum L.) has been known bypublicto have efficacy in wound healing, stop vomiting, reducing nausea, aiding digestion, as an antiseptic, as well as killing bacteria, fungi and viruses. Dewi et al. found that 50 mg/kgBW and 100 mg/kgBW red betel leaf extract caused a decrease blood glucose levels in Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by alloxan. This study was aimed to identify the effect of forest betel leaf extract on blood glucose levels on Wistar rats induced by alloxan. Subjects were Wistar rats with total of 15 samples divided into five groups: a negative control group and four hyperglycemic groups induced by 130 mg/kgBW of alloxan. Forest betel leaf extract was administered with dose of 25 mg/kgBW, 50 mg/kgBW, and 100 mg/kgBW on each groups of hyperglycemic rats, and group0.4 IU/100grBW of novomix injection was administered on the positive control group. Blood glucose levels were measured in the 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes on day one, two, and three. The results showed that 25 mg/kgBW, 50 mg/kgBW, and 100 mg/kgBW of forest betel leaf extract had a tendency to decrease blood glucose levels of Wistar rats induced by alloxan.Keywords: piper aduncum L., forest betel leaf, blood glucose levels, alloxan Abstrak: Daun sirih hutan (Piper aduncum L.) telah dikenal oleh masyarakat dan mempunyai khasiat dalam penyembuhan luka, menghentikan muntah, mengurangi mual, melancarkan pencernaan, sebagai antiseptik, membunuh bakteri dan jamur serta virus. Menurut penelitian Dewi dkk, pemberian ekstrak daun sirih merah dengan dosis 50 mg/kgBB dan 100 mg/kgBB menyebabkan penurunan kadar gula darah pada tikus Wistar (Rattus norvegicus) yang diinduksi dengan aloksan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek ekstrak daun sirih hutan terhadap kadar gula darah pada tikus Wistar yang diinduksi dengan aloksan. Subjek penelitian berupa tikus Wistar berjumlah 15 ekor yang dibagi dalam 5 kelompok terdiri atas kelompok kontrol negatif dan 4 kelompok tikus Wistar yang diberi aloksan dengan dosis 130 mg/kgBB tikus yang menyebabkan tikus Wistar dalam keadaan hiperglikemik. Tikus hiperglikemik diberi ekstrak daun sirih hutan dengan dosis 25 mg/kgBB tikus, 50 mg/kgBB tikus, dan 100 mg/kgBB tikus, dan yang terakhir kelompok kontrol positif diberi suntikan novomix 0,4 IU/100grBB tikus. Data diperoleh dari pemeriksaan kadar gula darah pada semua kelompok pada hari pertama, kedua, dan ketiga pada menit ke-0, 30, 60, 90, dan 120. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak daun sirih hutan dengan dosis 25 mg/kgBB tikus, 50 mg/kgBB dan 100 mg/kgBB tikus memiliki kecenderungan untuk menurunkan kadar gula darah tikus Wistar yang diinduksi oleh aloksan. Nusukan is one village with a tendency for people who prefer to consume fast food and lack of attention to a healthy lifestyle. This causes a lot of society are affected by diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia and uric acid. Nusukan society RW 22 who are not aware that they have the disease. For it is necessary to check blood glucose levels, cholesterol and uric acid that can be detected early. The purpose of this program is to provide education on the dangers and prevention of diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, and uric acid. It is also to help people to detect diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia and uric acid using stick test and spektropothometry method. Of the 30 people there were seven people who are abnormal blood glucose levels or diabetes mellitus, according stated test stick method, whereas in spectrophotometric methods there are 2 people. Uric acid test of RW 22, there are 7 people who exceed the normal limits, whereas cholesterol levels there are 22 people who exceed normal cholesterol levels (hyperlipidemia) with a test stick method, whereas in sprektropothometry there are 18 people who hyperlipidemia. Methods stick test results show higher levels compared to the spectrophotometric method.
