The article is an attempt to describe the specifics of the „new Bosnian narrative” as exemplified by Karim Zaimovic’s short stories collected in the book Tajna džema od malina. The text synthetically presents the new generation of prose writers clearly referring to the heritage of the so-called „narrative Bosnia” (J. Kršić). The generation of writers contemporary to Zaimovic, which dominated the literary scene in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the last decade of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century, was united by a creative motivation generated by common experiences, which was a reaction to the tragedy of the homeland war. The article briefly characterizes the „new narrative Bosnia”, highlighting the great tradition of narrative (pripovijetka) in local literature. Narrative/Short story is considered to be the most important and valued genre, which in its meaning goes far beyond purely literary boundaries – it has played and still plays an important role in the cultural, social, political and ideological context. In the text, it is shown that Zaimović’s stories, compared with (anti)war writing, are distinguished by: the way of constructing scenes that make up the story adapted from comic art, the presence of fantastic elements known from the work of „Borges writers”, as well as a characteristic, humorous style –where the author deals with the absurdity of war by the use of grotesque and satire, and describes the Sarajevo apocalypse using numerous metaphors and allegories. Even though, Zaimović’s texts cannot be treated as a model or the most representative example of “the new Bosnian narrative“, their unconventional way of presentation of the main theme as well as structural and compositional innovation have earned them an iconic status. The circumstances of the stories, and above all the fate of the young writer, made him a tragic symbol of the drama of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This paper is concerned with ‘local’ literature as different from ‘regional’ one, local literature being addressed to a smaller, inward audience of a local community. The paper presents statistics on the number of books published in Warsaw suburban microregion, their types and genres, as well as on institutions, publishers and sponsors involved in their production. First, preliminary observations show that the number of locally published books increases yearly — this tendency is visible particularly in the last six years. The most popular genres are memoirs and history books, but the scope of local literature is much wider and encompasses such genres as novels, essays, guide books, poetry and many other. Institutions involved in the publishing process are mostly local societies, libraries and town councils and distribution channels comprise mainly local fairs and events, cultural centres, libraries and parish kiosks. The paper sketches prospects for future investigation in local literature, drawing attention to the problems of taxonomy and new types of relations between author/creator and auditory/consumers.

The understanding of a folk narrative lies in the underlying principles that govern its composition. This study focuses on structures and culture found in the folk narratives of Sama, an indigenous group in Island Garden City of Samal, Philippines. The paper uses the theory on narratology by French-Lithuanian literary theorist, Algirdas Julien Greimas, and cultural theory by Bronislaw Malinowski to analyze the selected Sama folk narratives. The study reveals that the ten (10) Sama folk narratives collected do not completely follow the theory on narratology of Greimas. This is because the theories used are foreign and the folk literature collected are of local origin. Regardless of this, the study shows that Sama folk narratives reflected the ways of their people. Consequently, Sama folk narratives exemplify their cultural practices. They present social, economic, political, and religious practices. The leaders from the Sama folk were requested to validate the cultural texts gathered for this study. This research highlights the structure of Sama literature and illustrates Sama’s cultural heritage by gathering and analyzing their folk narratives so that the rest of the population (the new generation) could have the chance to experience their culture and appreciate it. Also, the researcher further emphasizes the relevance of gathering and using local literature to prevent it from vanishing into oblivion.

Jordan, as an Arab country located in the Middle East, began to pay attention to change. Jordanian society began to move from an old-style state to a contemporary state. Where globalization had a significant impact on culture, either in terms of individual culture and organizational culture. On the other hand, many studies emphasized that culture through its dimensions has an important role in influencing the corporate atmosphere or corporate social responsibility, as well as affecting the financial performance of companies. Moreover, the literature indicates that cultural dimensions influence the conduct of individuals and the performance of firms. . The literature indicated that there are different dimensions of culture, including Hofstede's dimensions of culture, which are Power Distance Index; Individualism versus collectivism; Masculinity versus Femininity; Uncertainty Avoidance index; Long-versus Short- Term Orientation; Indulgence versus Restraint. This study focused on the Indulgence versus Restraint dimension, as a recent dimension, where through the literature it can be predicted the existence of a critical role for the indulgence dimension on performance. After reviewing the literature related to the Indulgence dimension, it was found that there is a shortage and almost no local studies conducted in Jordan regarding the Indulgence versus Restraint dimension. Since this dimension is new, this paper stresses the importance of more research on this subject to expand the local literature on Indulgence and its impact on the performance in the Jordan context and compare it with other countries in order to provide important and useful results for the policymakers.

The purpose of this paper is to highlight the issues related to the clarification of the essence and legal construction of the surface right/ superficies, as initially regulated by the Moldovan legislator (until 01.03.2019), due to the fact that in the local literature there were different opinions with reference to this subject, which, consequently, led to the equivocal interpretation of the norms of law in the same matter, and this interpretation, respectively, offered different solutions of practical application of the norms regarding the institution of superficies. Thus, in this paper was analyzed the evolution of the right of superficies over time and highlighted the premises that led to the change of several rules governing the institution of superficies, but also the concept of real estate, in general.

Natural products from plants in Canadian ecological zones are understudied. There are, however, sound scientific arguments to justify investigation of natural products from plant species found within these zones. We review a broad range of scientific and local literature describing the features of the Canadian prairie ecological zone and the Asteraceae taxonomical family. Species from Asteraceae are well represented in the prairie ecological system, although very few have been investigated for natural products with bio-medical properties. Data from a range of sources that address ecological interactions, abiotic features, and Traditional Knowledge provide a foundation for future scientific studies of plant natural products found within Canadian borders. We draw from discoveries of the Asteraceae family and one of its major classes of secondary metabolites, sesquiterpenes, to stimulate research of Asteraceae species in Canada.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a public health burden worldwide due to its transience and fatality rate. The incidence of oral squamous cell carcinoma varies around the globe due to demographic and genetic differences. Oral cancer is the second most prevalent oral pathology in Pakistan which ultimately leads to death. Recent study divulged that the Pakistan has the increasing trend towards the OSCC, and the incidence rate of Pakistan is like Iran and India. Human papilloma virus and betel nut are the root causes for the development of oral cancer. Oral squamous cell carcinoma occur in the oral cavity. OSSC may present as a well-established to ambiguous lesion like exophytic lesion, endophytic lesion, or sometimes in erythroleucoplastic pattern. In current situation, the use of advance technologies for early detection and prevention can overcome this burden from the population. Due to lack of local literature we rally to review the published literature on Pakistan. The collection of published studies was made by using PubMed, NCBI and Google Scholar as database search engine. We searched and include only Pakistan based population studies during the year between 2016 to 2020. We conclude that OSCC is the highly prevalent oral pathology in Pakistan with male preponderance. Most common risk factor being betel nut followed by tobacco and Grade-II carcinoma is highly prevalent oral cancer in our population. Keywords: Oral cancer, oral squamous cell carcinoma, risk factors, Pakistani population.

Background: Reproductive health communication encompasses family planning, maternal, neonatal and child health, and sexual and reproductive health communications for adolescents and youth as fundamental elements for intervention. Objective: To summarize, examine, and identify gaps in the theoretical, methodological, empirical, and measurement literature on reproductive health communication as it relates to Ethiopia. Methods: A systematic search was conducted using electronic databases such as the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System (MEDLINE), Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Psychological Information (PsychINFO), and Google Scholar to locate theoretic, psychometric, and empirical literature on reproductive health communication. Results: Local literature identified by the databases were mainly based on crosssectional designs, had small sample size and lacked essential psychometric protocols. Results showed that most studies replicatively focused on spousal communication centering reproductive choices and decisions. A common strategy was to use student populations as data sources limiting the generalizability of findings. Conclusion: The need for more diverse designs and areas of investigation using better instrumentation is indicated.
