Abstract Background Young children with CAH require small doses (0.1-1.25 mg) of hydrocortisone (HC) to control excess androgen production and avoid the negative effects of overtreatment. The smallest commercially available HC formulation, before the recent FDA approval of HC granules, was a scored 5 mg tablet. The options to achieve small doses were limited to using a pharmacy-compounded suspension, which the CAH Clinical Practice Guidelines recommended against, or splitting tablets into quarters or eighths, or dissolving tablets into water. Methods Cross sectional chart review of 130 children with classic CAH treated with tablets versus a pharmacy-compounded alcohol-free hydrocortisone suspension to compare growth, weight, skeletal maturation, total daily HC dose and exposure over the first four years of life. Results No significant differences were found in height, weight, or BMI z-scores at 4 years, and in predicted adult height, before or after adjusting for age at diagnosis and sex. Bone age z-scores averaged 2.8 SDs lower for patients on HC suspension compared to HC tablets (p<0.001) after adjusting for age at diagnosis and sex. The suspension group received 30.4% lower (p>0.001) average cumulative HC doses by their 4th birthday. Conclusions Our data indicates that treatment with alcohol-free HC suspension decreased androgen exposure as shown by lower bone age z-scores, allowed lower average and cumulative daily HC dose compared to HC tablets, and generated no significant differences in SDS in growth parameters in children with CAH at 4 years of age. Longitudinal studies of treating with smaller HC doses during childhood are needed.

We present in this paper an in-depth study and analysis of bronchiectasis haemoptysis by multirow CT tomography and a multifaceted treatment and analysis of the interventions monitored by the scan. Although coronary CT is of great clinical value in the diagnosis and monitoring of coronary artery disease, the potential radiation damage caused by coronary CT should not be underestimated because CT imaging is based on X-rays and the actual effective dose is 5–30 mSv, which is reported in the literature to be high when using conventional imaging modalities for coronary CT. Although there is no direct evidence of a definite causal relationship between X-ray exposure during CT examinations and tumorigenesis, theoretically, even small doses of radiation exposure may pose some potential health risk. Therefore, in clinical practice, coronary CT examinations should be performed in strict compliance with the radiation protection rule “as low as reasonably achievable” (ALARA) recognized by the radiation industry. For longitudinal openings in the range of 0° to 59° and transverse openings in the range of 0° to 44°, the CB2 catheter is significantly more stable than the MIK catheter, and for longitudinal openings in the range of 60° to 119° and transverse openings in the range of 0° to 44°, the CB2 catheter is more stable than the MIK catheter. For longitudinal openings from 0° to 120° and lateral openings from 45° to 90°, there was no significant difference in cannulation stability between the CB2 and MIK catheters. There was a potential tendency for MIK cannulation stability to be higher than CB2 for longitudinal openings in the range of 120° to 180° and lateral openings in the range of 45° to 90°, but there was no significant difference.

Abstract We present the results of studies of the effect of wet chemical treatment on the properties of a GaAs surface modified by a gallium focused ion beam. Our studies based on results of AFM, KpAFM and Raman spectroscopy measurements have shown that, during wet chemical treatment, the damaged areas disappear completely in the case of low accelerating voltages and small doses of ions. At the same time, large accelerating voltages lead to the formation of extended damaged regions, the complete removal of which requires a longer treatment or additional processing.

Significant and important details should be taken into account when planning a Phonetics training course. As you know, the Morphology and Syntax of the Georgian language are taught in small doses at school, and thus, these subjects are somewhat familiar to the entrants. But we can not say the same about "Phonetics". This scientific discipline is a completely new fruit for first-year students of the Philology contingent, which puts lecturers in front of great responsibilities and serious difficulties. Thus, when working out a Phonetics lecture course, we must carefully select the issues that we will provide to students seeking new knowledge, not in terms of learning and mastery, but in terms of assessment and cognition. We hope that the model we have developed will give the freshman the opportunity to think rationally, to choose and to formulate his own position, even to identify/develop a new theory/point of view, and to create his scientific skills.

As a result of man’s technological activities, numerous quantities of lead and its compounds are spread into the environment annually. The long-term effects of low doses of lead on the lungs, heart muscle and the transport function of erythrocytes were investigated.  The study results indicate that long-term intake of small doses of lead, even in the absence of visible clinical manifestations, causes distinct structural changes and therefore, functional changes in the heart muscle, respiratory system, reduces the transport function of erythrocytes, and also possibly limiting the oxygen transport in myocytes and its deposition in tissues and diffusion into cells. There is no doubt that these changes will limit the ability to maximize the realization of physical activity.

Background: Platinum derivatives including cisplatin and its later generations carboplatin, and oxaliplatin remain the most largely used drugs in the therapy of malignant diseases. They exert notable anticancer activity towards numerous types of solid tumors such as gastric, colorectal, bladder, ovary, and several others. The chemotherapeutic activity of these compounds, however, is associated with many unwanted side effects and drug resistance problems limiting their application and effectiveness. Proper dosage is still an inherent problem, as these drugs are usually prescribed in small doses. Objective: Several analytical methods have been reported for the accurate quantification of cisplatin, carboplatin, and oxaliplatin and their metabolites either alone or in combination with other chemotherapeutic drugs, in different matrices such as pharmaceutical formulations, biological fluids, cancer cells, and environmental samples. The main goal of this review is to systematically study the analytical methods already used for the analysis of cisplatin, carboplatin, and oxaliplatin in various matrices during the last two decades. Results and Conclusion: In the literature, reviews showed that numerous analytical methods such as electroanalytical, UV-visible spectrophotometry, chromatographic, fluorescence, atomic absorption spectrophotometry, and other spectroscopic methods combined with mass spectrometry were used for the determination of these compounds in various matrices.

Introduction. The article presents the problems of the use of glucocorticosteroids in the treatment of patients with coronavirus– associated pneumonia (COVID-19) without hypoxemia. The experience of the preemptive use of low doses of glucocorticosteroids in the treatment of such patients in a hospital is described. Simplification of a unified scheme of pathogenetic therapy with glucocorticosteroids in the above patients is urgent. The article highlights the effectiveness of the early use of low doses of glucocorticosteroids in the treatment of a specific cohort of patients with COVID-19.Objective. To assess the clinical efficacy and safety of early use of small doses of methylprednisolone in the comprehensive therapy of patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 pneumonia to prevent the development of complications and improve the outcomes of the disease.Materials and methods. The study included 40 hospitalized patients from 37 to 68 years (average age 52. years) with a diagnosis of moderate to severe COVID-19 pneumonia. Patients were randomized into two groups: the main group (n = 20) and the control group (n = 20). The main group additionally received methylprednisolone: 4 mg tablets, 7 tablets per day, divided into 2 doses (4 tablets in the morning and 3 tablets at lunchtime). The effectiveness of the therapy was evaluated based on the primary combined endpoint of the study, which included progression of the disease to an extremely severe form or the occurrence of pulmonary and extrapulmonary complications that required transfer to the intensive care unit, or death of the patient during the followup period. The secondary combined endpoint of the study was resolution of clinical symptoms of the disease or achievement of reference values of laboratory and instrumental indicators.Results. No lethal outcomes were observed in the compared groups, there were no cases of development of an extremely severe course, complications requiring transfer to the intensive care unit in the main group.Conclusion. Early use of small doses methylprednisolone of in comprehensive therapy of patients with moderate and severe COVID-19 pneumonia reduces the incidence of life-threatening complications and improves the outcomes of the disease.

This study intends to provide a description of how the use of polonium-210 (210Po) as a poison in terms of toxicology. This research is a qualitative research, the type of research uses comprehensive analytic studies and analytical normative approaches. Polonium-210 is created in nuclear reactors. This element is very radioactive which if swallowed even a little is very fatal. After entering the blood tissue, the element mainly targets the liver and kidneys and bone marrow. After 210Po is absorbed into the body, the whole body is basically targeted. The dose given and the sensitivity of individual tissues determine the level of damage throughout the body. Unlike most heavy metals, 210 Po accumulates in soft tissue rather than bone. Polonium (210Po) is a producer of very active alpha particles, but only becomes toxic when entering the body. If entered into the human body, toxic effects are often fatal, even at very small doses. Most of the initial dose is quickly excreted in the feces and urine, but the rest is distributed to the soft tissues of the body.
