Orthorexia is a term used for “obsession for healthy and proper nutrition”. ON is a recently identified disorder and prevalence studies are mainly limited to Eurasian and Scandanavian countries. There is a paucity of literature currently available for Asian population and more specifically for the Indian population. Therefore, the present study was designed to estimate the prevalence of Orthorexia Nervosa in Indian population. To estimate the prevalence of ON in young North Indian population and to highlight its characteristics. The study population consisted of 448 young students (males=173, females=275). The ORTO-15 questionnaire developed by Donini et al. was used to determine the prevalence. Subjects who scored below 40 were classified as having ON. : Mean score of the participants in the ORTO-15 was using a 40 point threshold. A total of three fourth of the young students in the study group exhibited orthorexic tendency. High prevalence of ON in young students necessitates that Orthorexia Nervosa trends in general population be assessed in Indian subcontinent for better understanding of eating disorders and its interplay with socio-cultural diversities.

Biologic drugs and subsequently developed biosimilars treat chronic inflammatory autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid or psoriatic arthritis, ankylosingspondylitis, crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and psoriasis. Biologics can target the cancer in a specific way and may work synergistically with chemotherapy to improve outcome. It is expected that in the next five years, 50% of biological products will originate from biotechnology. Biological products, including those manufactured by biotechnology, tend to be heat sensitive and susceptible to microbial contamination. There are no expected clinically meaningful differences in efficacy and safety between a biosimilar and the biologic drugs which are authorized for sale. The global market for Biosimilars is dominated by oncology (nearly 39% share) whereas the total biosimilar market size is expected to reach nearly 70 billion by 2025. Biosimilars are generally marketed at prices 25 to 40 percent below original branded productsie Biologics. The number of biosimilars approved by US FDA are nearly 30. There are about 25 top global manufacturers of biosimilars. Many Domestic companies in India are making strong presence even in regulated markets.  (BPCIA) guidelines in the United States (US), mention that a biosimilar can be designated as “interchangeable”, whereby it may be substituted for the reference product (original biological drug).

Rabies, though endemic in India, has been a disease of low public health priority throughout the years. Being a non-notifiable disease together with limited diagnostic facilities, it often ends up in under-reporting of cases, especially atypical rabies. Failure of complete rabies Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) with Immunoglobulin has been rarely reported. We report a case of atypical rabies in a 60-year-old man from a rural village in Kerala, who presented with fever, paralysis of limbs, fluctuating consciousness, phonophobia and without classical signs of hydrophobia and aerophobia 22 days after dog bite. The case is supplemented with supportive Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) findings and corneal imprint smear Fluorescent Antibody Test (FAT). The death of the patient on the 28th day of exposure despite early PEP with rabies vaccine and immunoglobulin is suggestive of PEP failure. The case study stresses on the need in making rabies a notifiable disease in the study setting, encouraging disease specific investigation, ensuring availability of vaccine and immunoglobulins with adherence to standardized treatment protocols.Deviations from the recommended protocol for Animal bite management, such as delay in seeking PEP, lack of or improper administration of rabies immunoglobulin (e.g. missing out bite sites), lack of or improper primary wound care, and/or poor-quality rabies vaccine, may lead to death.

COVID-19 pandemic is an ongoing global pandemic which has resulted in significant morbidity and mortality. India has been one of the worst affected nations. The second wave has gripped the country in an unforeseen way. In an effort to contain the pandemic, the measures taken have led to all other health conditions taking a back seat. Patients of chronic diseases like cancer, marked by a continuity of care, have been bearing a major brunt. Access to cancer treatment has been disrupted as a result of COVID-19. This adversely affects the outcomes of the disease. This pandemic is here to stay, so cancer services should continue to be provided with due safeguarding of the health personnel and patients against the COVID-19 infections. Due modifications of the treatment schedules for systemic therapy, surgery and radiation treatment should be incorporated as per the guidelines. Vaccination of the immunocompromised, high risk, cancer patients on priority, besides that of the health care providers should be aimed at. In the long term, capacity of primary care physicians needs to be strengthened to provide basic cancer care services using a hub-and-spoke model with tertiary care centres.

: Till recently the government is planning for national level availability of doctors. However, to improve health care service delivery, robust regional planning for production and supply of health professionals is need of hour. The study aims to understand the demand and supply of trained doctors and tertiary care facilities in different regions of Rajasthan.: Data of undergraduate medical entrance were used to adjust against the voluntary attrition rate, superannuation rate, natural death rate and external additions to define the pool of available practicing doctors. The estimates were generated by forecasting the population and expected supply of doctors till the year 2035 by projecting the data by Average Exponential Growth Rate (AEGR).: The study suggests that in 2018 the density of doctors was 0.32 per thousand population in Rajasthan than that of 0.7 in India. At the current AEGR of 5.53 %, density of doctors will only improve to 0.73 in year 2035. There are 16 districts with 41.1 % of the population of Rajasthan have no medical school or any tertiary health care institution. Similarly, undergraduate enrollment varies in different regions from 1.5 to 13.5 students per 100000 population.: The challenge of availability of qualified doctors in Rajasthan will persist even in year 2035. There is an urgent need to ensure regionally balanced production and supply of skilled doctors.

Alcoholism is now becoming a major problem of all the nations. Approximately 2.5 million die each year from the harmful use of alcohol accounting for about 4 % of all deaths in the world. Because of these problems created by alcoholism, the study was conducted with the aim to create awareness on effects of alcoholism among adolescence students of higher secondary students of Mizoram as a preventive program. An evaluative research approach was adopted with one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample comprised of 100 students selected by using lottery method from three higher secondary schools in Aizawl, Mizoram. The tool was developed and reliability of the tool was established by Pearson’s covariance co-efficient i.e. 0.87. The teaching programme was found to be effective in increasing the knowledge of students as evidenced by‘t’ (99) = 27.13, p < 0.05. The study also reports that there was significant association between pre-test knowledge score with mother’s education as evident from p = 0.020 at 0.05 level of significance, but no significant association between pre-test knowledge score and other selected demographic variables were found.: The planned awareness programme was an effective method to increase the knowledge of the students. Mother’s education played an important role in educating their children towards effects of alcoholism. The study can be implicated in practical nursing field for health promotion and prevention of alcoholism and alcohol related disorders.
