Abstract Background Studies on the application of developmental care initiatives in Italian NICUs are rather scarce. We aimed to assess parental access to the NICUs and facilities offered to the family members and to test “the state of art” regarding kangaroo mother care (KMC) and breastfeeding policies in level III Italian NICUs. Methods A questionnaire both in paper and in electronic format was sent to all 106 Italian level III NICUs; 86 NICUs (i.e., 80% of NICUs) were completed and returned. The collected data were analysed. In addition, a comparison between the 2017 survey results and those of two previous surveys conducted from 2001 to 2006 was performed. Results In total, 53 NICUs (62%) reported 24-h open access for both parents (vs. 35% in 2001 and 32% in 2006). Parents were requested to temporarily leave the unit during shift changes, emergencies and medical rounds in 55 NICUs (64%). Some parental amenities, such as an armchair next to the crib (81 units (94%)), a room for pumping milk and a waiting room, were common, but others, such as family rooms (19 units (22%)) and adjoining accommodation (30 units (35%)), were not. KMC was practised in 81 (94%) units, but in 72 (62%), i.e., the majority of units, KMC was limited to specific times. In 11 (13%) NICUs, KMC was not offered to the father. The average duration of a KMC session, based on unit staff estimation, was longer in 24-h access NICUs than in limited-access NICUs. KMC documentation in medical records was reported in only 59% of questionnaires. Breastfeeding was successful in a small proportion of preterm infants staying in the NICU. Conclusion The number of 24-h access NICUs doubled over a period of 13 years. Some basic family facilities, such as a dedicated kitchen, rooms with dedicated beds and showers for the parents, remain uncommon. KMC and breastfeeding have become routine practices; however, the frequency and duration of KMC sessions reported by NICU professionals still do not meet the WHO recommendations.

Management of medical records and health information is one of the elements in the assessment of Public Health Center accreditation. Medical records play an important role in collecting accurate and comprehensive data for targeted health policies. The most appropriate management of medical records at the Public Health Center is the regional storage system or often referred to as the family folder system. Community service activities at the Cibeureum Health Center are carried out using consultation, training, and mentoring methods. Compiled 10 quality documents and the implementation of the e-family folder in stages. Furthermore, continuous data migration was carried out assisted by RMIK students. Activities carried out well.

Abstract Objective: To identify health promotion actions carried out by professionals in the Family Health Strategy in relation to elderly people. Method: An exploratory study with a qualitative approach was performed in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, Brazil, with 19 professionals. A recorded, fully transcribed semi-structured interview was used after authorization by the ethics committee under number 501 675. The discussions were analyzed using Content Analysis, organized into thematic categories. Results: Actions of a collective nature were identified, such as activities in groups, meetings, conversation circles, lectures and guidance in the waiting room. Other directed actions were used, such as guidelines during individual consultations and referral to specialized services. Conclusion: The need for the discussion of health promotion and actions in relation to old age was highlighted, with debate and reflection on this theme required locally, along with the need to build a network of support for the health of the elderly in a shared manner among professionals, managers and the community.

Aims:To investigate caregiving and its consequences among fathers and mothers of the same patients suffering from schizophrenia.Methods:101 patients as well as both parents were investigated using the “Carers' Needs Assessment for Schizophrenia”, the “Beck Depression Inventory”, the “Involvement Evaluation Questionnaire” and the “Family Problem Questionnaire”.Results:The mean number of days fathers lived together with the patients was not significant from that of the mothers, but the average duration (hours per week) of contact with the patient was significantly higher for mothers than for fathers. Among 40% of the sample, fathers and mothers spend an equal amount of time caring for the patient. Mothers reported significantly more often problems than fathers concerning stress due to earlier life events and burn-out. Mothers needed some interventions such as individual psychoeducation or family counselling more than twice as often as fathers. Mothers reported overall higher numbers of problems and needs for intervention than fathers. The overall score of caregivers' involvement did not differ significantly between fathers and mothers. The mothers' objective burden was significantly higher than the fathers' objective burden, but parents did not show differences concerning subjective burden. Using the “Beck Depression Inventory”, mothers were more often depressed than fathers. Conclusions:This study shows that often fathers and mothers spend an equal amount of time caring for the patient. The differences found between mothers and fathers should be considered when planning services for family caregivers.

Satir’s model (1916-1988) is not theoretical; it is a practical model; she has developed it by applying herself. It does not include stereotyped shapes in human relationships, but dynamic, variable applications. According to Satir, “the form is not the method itself”, the method is motion; this is a dynamic phenomenon. It constantly changes and tries to remove certain bans that have examined itself and prevented it from changing. A person who grows in a constantly restricted, prohibited environment since childhood cannot fully demonstrate his capacity without being aware of his potential. Such a result is manifested only in a limited environment where development is hindered. The change will take place after the problem is recognized. The goal is to increase self-confidence in the family, to nurture or support better choices, to increase responsibility, and to improve compliance within the family or between people. This study was carried out by using the copy of Satir’s book, which was originally called “The Conjoint Family Therapy” and translated into Turkish by Selim Ali Yeniçeri as “Basic Family Therapy” and published in Istanbul by Beyaz Yayınları in 2016.

The purpose of this study was to assess users' acceptability of the care offered and delivered by Family Health teams in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil. This exploratory-descriptive study was based on a quantitative-qualitative approach method. The sample consisted of 171 users, registered at the four Family Health Units that cover the basic area of a secondary service. The study used semi structured interviews with analytical dimensions: infrastructure, accessibility, and team-user relationships. Descriptive statistics was used for calculations of standard deviation, mean and median, assisted by Statistical Package for Social Science, and thematic analysis. The results show predomination of the female gender (87,7%), age older than 60 years old (31.0%), and monthly income inferior to two minimum monthly salaries (34%). Users indicated considerate and affective interpersonal relations as one point of satisfaction and one of the aspects that differentiates health care. Dissatisfaction predominated in terms of environment, a long time spent in the waiting room, and organizational accessibility, impairing care longitudinality and continuity. Studies within this theme give opportunities to users, strengthening their participation in the planning processes and exercising social control.
