The COVID-19 pandemic constitutes a severe hazard: not only to human health but also to the economy on both a national and a global level. The pandemic has particularly affected the event industry, which relies on mass gatherings. This research aims to analyse the impact of COVID-19 on the event industry and propose best practices for virtual events in terms of attendee engagement. A qualitative research approach was applied to generate insights from industry experts in real contexts in Vietnam. The study drew on interviewees with four participants engaged in virtual events: two from the event industry, and two from the education sector. This research focuses on three key elements to enhance the level of attendee engagement in virtual events: the four realms of experience, storytelling and attendee objectives when joining a given event. The study also highlights the relationships among these three critical elements while offering theoretical contributions and suggesting best practices.

The chapter applies critical theory to analyze the impact of globalization on education at the classroom level. Based on the hypothesis that education policy decisions made at the global level result in outcomes at the classroom level, it is clear globalization directly impacts students in the classroom. Therefore, within the context of curriculum and instruction, this chapter critically explores 21st century instructional practices as a response to the following research question: What are effective methods for engaging all learners in today's classrooms? The chapter incorporates qualitative research results and historical background about globalization, which thus situates current 21st century instructional practices within a framework for critical deconstruction. Finally, the qualitative research utilized in this chapter stems from classroom observations of teachers delivering 21st century instruction, and this research serves the purpose of clearly illustrating the characteristics of 21st century instruction in the classroom.

Families seek vacations as a means to improve family interaction and cohesion. Research on the effects of smartphones and other technology on the tourist experience has gained traction in recent years. Unfortunately, there still remains a void in understanding the role smartphones have on interaction and relationship dynamics during family vacations. Therefore, a qualitative research approach was employed to understand the extent to which smartphone usage influences the family vacation experience. The findings revealed that families relied on smartphones to foster a sense of family unity and retain a sense of individuality. Second, smartphones mediated families’ experience of a destination. Third, smartphones altered the traditional internalization and recollection process of family vacation memories.

The effort of the formation or establishment of spiritual intelligence on the students is done by planting Islamic religious values in PAI learning and character planting which then implemented in the form of daily behavior that reflects the character or identity of each individual learners and is supported by the religious program that have been compiled by the school institution. This study aims to (1) Describe and analyze the process of the formation of spiritual intelligence on students or learners (2) Describe and analyze the implementation of religious activity programs in shaping spiritual intelligence in learners (3) Describe and analyze the impact of the formation of spiritual intelligence in learners through the implementation of the religious program. This research uses qualitative research approach. The type of research used in this research is case study and case studies and multiple cases design. Data collection uses observation, interview and documentation. The results showed that in SD Plus NurulHikmah the formation of spiritual intelligence is done by planting the values of faith and pillars of Islam as well as the implanting of characters in learning PAI and applied through the program of religious activity and application of character, while in MIN Konang the formation of spiritual intelligence done by planting The prophet characteristics and the prophet`s story in learning PAI as well as the planting of characters applied in the form of religious activity and the application of character. The formation of spiritual intelligence in both schools can be concluded that overall spiritual intelligence in learners has been formed, it is known from attitudes, behaviors and religious activities always performed by learners at both school and at home, although the results have not reached one hundred percent, But both school is always working in terms of improving the strategy of the formation of spiritual intelligence in learners.

Purpose The primary objective of this qualitative research is to gain a deeper understanding of the multi-channel impact on the role of sales forces and the way in which they are managed in a B2B context. Design/methodology/approach The authors compare the conclusion of their literature review with an analysis of the sales strategy of a leading cosmetic brand. They conducted their study by applying a multi-method qualitative research approach, which includes semi-structured interviews with managers and a research action performed by accompanying five salespeople on visits to their professional clients. Findings The results suggest that the development of a multi-channel context encourages salespeople to focus less on sales and order taking and more on advising clients about how best to develop their businesses. The multi-channel evolution seems to have enabled a transition of the role of sales people from a sales function to a function of a provider of personalized advice in the fields of business development, team management, salon promotions and merchandising. Research limitations/implications The quest for coherence, particularly at the international level, would justify a broadening of our study to include the impact of multi-channels sales on the market positioning of the brand and of other brands in different industrial sectors. Practical implications The expansion of the multi-channel sales approach implies that managers are obliged to seek a convergence, or at least a degree of coherence between the different channels. This strategy can be used to promote an effective integration of channels at the international level into a single, reliable distribution system that avoids all forms of cannibalization. The Omni-channel strategy implies shifting the emphasis in the channel and moving from a focus on direct sales to the professional client (“selling-in”) to a stress on direct sales to the end user (“selling-out”). Originality/value This article provides an original analytical approach to highlighting training methods and systems of remuneration that will help sales forces to manage the inter-channel migration of their customers. Salespeople will then be able to view the future Omni-channel context as an opportunity to improve the status of their role.

Abstract In life science, RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) technique is a state-of-the-art research approach for tissue or cell transcriptome analyses. In recent years, RNA-seq has been applied to profile the gene expression in response to dietary nutrients or feed additives to gain thorough understanding of the complex nutrient-gene interactions in agricultural animals. In this presentation, we will selectively review the application of RNA-seq technique in nutrigenomics studies in swine. Such studies have investigated the impact of various sources and quantities of dietary fatty acids, protein (including alternative protein), energy, probiotics, and plant-derived bioactive compounds on the gene expression in major metabolic tissues, such as liver, muscle, and adipose. Although the RNA-seq methodology is a powerful quantitative tool for transcriptomics analysis, it still has various technical challenges and pitfalls throughout its practice steps that include experiment design, sample collection, sample laboratory analysis, data statistical and bioinformatic analyses, and data interpretation. Currently, many options are available for use in some steps, but a thorough understanding of each option is critical for making right decisions and avoiding getting into inconclusive results. Therefore, this presentation will also provide an overview on the “best practices” for applying RNA-seq technique in swine nutrigenomics studies, which include the aspects of appropriately designing experiments, collecting samples, and analyzing the data in order to have confidence in the results obtained from this approach. In short, the aims of this presentation are to provide some basic guidelines for researchers new in the field and to promote a discussion of standardization or “best practices” of RNA-seq methodology for animal nutrigenomics studies.

In Malaysia, waqf management including those in universities, is under the authority of the State Islamic Religious Council as a sole trustee waqf. This is to protect the waqf assets from any interventions by the heirs. Even so, one Malaysian university is said to manage the waqf scheme without the supervision of the Islamic Council which contradict with the provision of the State of Islamic Religious Council (SIRC) as the sole trustee of waqf. Thus, this study explores the management of waqf by several universities in Selangor and relation to SIRC as the sole trustee of waqf. A qualitative research approach was employed to collect data from focus group discussions and interviews with selected participants from the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Selangor IRC), selected universities and waqf experts in Malaysia. The findings show that University Kebangsaan Malaysia and University Putra Malaysia waqf funds are managed under the Selangor IRC monitoring while University Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia endowment or waqf fund is managed privately by the university. The impact of this is that several waqf management issues arose. Hence, the authors recommend the Model theory of al-wilayah to be applied in the management of waqf in the universities. Through this model, SIRC and the university can play a more significant role in the management of waqf, thereby promoting the development of waqf in Malaysia.
