The researcher used Hudges’s (1991) theory about swearword and Molina and Albir (2005), and Fawcet(1997) about translation techniques used by the translator. From the analysis, the researcher found 9 data of imbecile term for nuts, cuckoo, and ain’t bright, 23 data general terms for bastard and crazy, 39 data of death terms for the hell and goddamn, 6 data of mother in law terms for son of bitch, 1 data of racist for Nigger, 3 data of animal terms of rats, chicken, and cat, and 6 data of sexual irregulities for tart and bitch. It is also, 5 kinds of swearword translation techniques in the research, they are 9 data of literal translation, 1 data of particularization, 1 data of reduction, 3 data of transposition and 1 data of adaptation

Every human has their own characteristics of languages and in order to understand one language to another languages, then, translation was essential and fully needed. In order to avoid the awkward translation, therefore the translator must use a technique in translating the texts. The research aimed at analyzing the equivalence between the source language and its translations based on the translation techniques applied by translator. This research focused on the amplification and transposition techniques could be seen on the imperative sentences especially command. The research was conducted by applying qualitative method. The research was conducted by applying library research and observation methods. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative method. The study applied two methods to present the analysis of data as follows informal and formal method. Target of research did not involve participants however, this research focused on analyzing data was English commands and its translation into Indonesian by using amplification and transposition found in the novel. The result of research showed amplification and transposition were dominant used in translating the English commands (SL) into Indonesian (TL). The translator applied amplification and transposition to find equivalences when transferring the meaning from the source language (SL) into target language (TL). Therefore, the overlapping translation could be minimized. Amplification had a role especially the addition of information. The phenomena occurred when the detail information did not contain in the SL and the translator must be sensitive by putting the necessary information in TL. Transposition created three parts of shift: structure, unit, and class of shift.

This study aims to find the translation techniques used by the translator in translating sentences of the bilingual destination map. The researchers used descriptive qualitative method to describe the translation techniques applied in the bilingual destination map “Peta Wisata Jawa Tengah” which is translated into “Central Java Tourist Map”. This study starts by finding the problem, collecting data, classifying data, analyzing data, and drawing the conclusion. The mostly used in translation techniques is literal translation technique to make the translation work clear for the tourists domestic even international. This technique is used when the target language (TL) is applied through the sentence without observing the differences of context or meaning in the source language (SL), whereas the discursive creation and description are rarely used.

The purpose of conducting this study is to identify and handle the problems arising from translating conversational words and phrases rooted in culture from English into Kurdish and vice versa. To achieve the objectives of the current research, source language conversational texts associated with greetings, politeness terms, kinship terms, address terms and words and phrases used on different occasions are translated into their counterparts in the target language. The results obtained from the translations show that translating cultural concepts is problematic and burdensome, and the problems identified result from cultural differences between the two languages and from literal translation which often leads to unnatural and incomprehensible expressions although this technique is used to borrow a source language expression. The results also indicate that translating culturally-bound conversational words and phrases requires good knowledge and mastery of both languages and cultures and proper use of various translation techniques. This research paper is an attempt to identify the problems that arise in translating culturally-specific conversational words and phrases from English into Kurdish and vice versa. It also aims to find out effective ways of overcoming the problem through implementing appropriate techniques for translating culturally-loaded words and phrases associated with greetings, terms of address, politeness terms, family relationship, in both languages.

The research was aimed at investigating categories of Indonesian cultural terms translated into English, explaining techniques of applied translation, and analyzing foreignization and domestication ideologies applied in the translations of Indonesian cultural terms into English in the novel Gadis Pantai that translated into The Girl from the Coast. This research was conducted through descriptive-qualitative approach. The data were collected through document analysis including content analysis and thematic analysis. The results show that there are five categories of cultural terms identified in the novel which are translated by using 16 techniques of translation, including the applications of single and double techniques of translation. In addition to foreignization and domestication ideologies of translation, it is also revealed that there is also partial foreignization and partial domestication ideologies of translation since some of the Indonesian identified cultural terms are translated through combinations of two different techniques of translation; combinations of source-language- and target-language-oriented techniques of translation. The most frequently-applied ideology of translation is domestication (82,20%), followed by foreignization (9,82%), as well as partial foreignization and partial domestication (7,98%).

This article examines strategies applied in selected passages of Elena Petrova’s Russian translation of Olga Grushin’s anglophone novel The Dream Life of Sukhanov (2005). The novel is set in Moscow during the late Soviet period and depicts a crisis precipitated by the changes brought by glasnost in the life of a loyal apparatchik. Although the Russian-American writer Grushin composed the novel in her adopted language of English, it reflects a Russian cultural subtext and contains numerous Russian linguistic elements and cultural allusions. It is therefore interesting to analyze how these elements are rendered in the Russian translation, entitled Zhizn’ Sukhanova v snovideniiakh (2011). The analysis is followed by a consideration of challenges posed by translingual texts to theoretical understandings of translation. It argues that established concepts within translation studies, such as domestication, foreignization, source language and target language, are not well-suited to cases of literary translingualism.

The Old Man and the Sea is a literature work by Ernest Hemingway. It has been translated into many languages even in Indonesian by Deera Army. Hemingway used more clause complex in producing his works. It causes problems in translation such as: translators should give more attention to the translation techniques used, readability decrease, and etc. On the other hand, Deera Army solved those problems by splitting the clause complex into shorter one. It is needed to conduct a study in how to make translation of complex clause. This study can be clearly conducted by using Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG) approach. In addition, this study is aimed at: (1) describing how can be interdependency and logical semantics of complex clause in source language realized into interdependency and logical semantics of complex clause in target language of The Old Man and the Sea Novel (2) describing what translation techniques on taxis markers are used in translating from source language to target language (3) describing translation quality of clause complex translation in target language. The result of the analysis showed that there are 400 sentences which have been broken into 701 clauses. Based on the analysis, there are paratactic and hypotactic form. Paratactic took 65.30% and hypotactic, 34.50%. All of them affect translation quality. Based on the analysis, the average of accuration takes up 2.89, naturalness with 2.96 and readibility with 2.97. The writer suggests that the next researcher can conduct the same research in the deeper way.

Translation has important role to the development of science field, especially in accounting field which has been expanding in this globalization era. Hence, it is very interesting to analyze the translation of English accounting terms into Indonesian because it contains many accounting typical terms and specific vocabulary usually used by accountant. Furthermore, this research focuses on identifying of accounting terms in English accounting book and their equivalences in Indonesian. The data was collected by note taking and comparing techniques. Then, the data analysis is performed to search the form and category of the English accounting terms. Parallel corpora were used in presenting source language and target language data. Descriptive qualitative methods were applied to analyze all research problems. The theory of translation techniques proposed by Molina and Albir (2002) was applied in order to find translation techniques chosen by translator in translating English accounting terms and the theory of grammatical proposed by Quirk et al (1985) to find the categories of word, compound word and phrase. This research is expected to contribute to further research related to accounting vocabularies consist of a set of words, compound words and phrase which are considered available in all languages of the world.
