Cooking oil has become a part and parcel of modern food system and therefore its safety is of prime significance for health agencies around the globe to ensure good health among the community. Current study was designed to investigate the physicochemical properties including free fatty acids, peroxide value and conjugated dienes; minerals (nickel & cobalt) and heavy metals (lead and cadmium) in oil samples collected from different areas of Multan city of Pakistan. The findings of this study revealed that free fatty acid percentages, conjugated dienes, cobalt and nickel concentrations were in normal ranges while the peroxide values, lead and cadmium concentrations were recorded above the norms. Strict regulatory measures need to be adopted to ensure good quality oil supply and to protect the people from health implications of physicochemical and metallic hazards prevailing in fried oils and fried foods.

Governments regulate risks on behalf of the people they serve. Given that regulatory agencies aim for regulatory measures that the public would endorse if rational and informed, the mean-risk method of evaluating acts provides valuable guidance. It offers a way of constructing for a citizen informed probability and utility assignments for a regulation’s possible outcomes, and using these assignments to obtain for the citizen an informed utility assignment for the regulation. The theory of cooperative games combines the utility assignments of multiple agents to support a collective act, and under simplifying assumptions, supports an act that maximizes collective utility, defined as a sum of the act’s utilities for the agents, in the tradition of utilitarianism. This approach to regulation accommodates acts targeting information-sensitive, evidential risks as well as acts targeting physical risks. Verification of a reduction in an evidential risk can meet the standards of objectivity that the law adopts.

Good Health and Well-being is one of the important goals in the current decade of twenty first century. The people of current generation prefer the consumption of plant sourced bioactive molecules over the modern medicines because the former has no side effects and residue free. In order to mitigate the food requirement of growing global population during the previous century, the green revolution technologies focused on fewer crops leading to negligence of several important crops; popularly known as underutilized or neglected crops. In the list of underutilized crops, Dioscorea spp. occupies significant niche as it is rich in several phytochemicals and could be grown under multiple stress conditions faced by the modern agricultural practices. Besides, it has been known as prominent member under age old practices of “traditional health care system” to treat several malaises of human being during the early date of civilization. The tubers and bulbils of the Dioscorea spp. are rich in saponins, tannin, flavonoids, sterols, polyphenols, and glycosides in addition to its higher contents of basic essential nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals etc. Further, its tubers are staple food for indigenous people of several Asian and African countries. Therefore, the Dioscorea spp. signifies as an important crop both to the next generation population as well as underprivileged class of people in the coming decade for good health wellbeing and food security. The basic concern of this article is to explore the people’s nature of acceptance on the initiatives taken by different national and international organisations to increase the well-being of common people irrespective of their origin of residence and other socio-economic variables. The comparative features of rural and urban communities in relation to their basic scope and infrastructure conceptualise the world around them. When they are practising religious rituals, then the people of both the locals are homogeneous in character without any type of strata among them, and sociologically, this form of homogeneousness appeared as religious community. The research question of this article stemmed from this point. Are the people of a specific religious community given higher priority in terms of good health or religious rituals when they use sacred water irrespective of their origin of residence and other socio-economic variables? Water is a sign and symbol of sacredness to religious rituals, while polluted water is harmful for good health.

AbstractObjectiveTo explore how individuals perceive the availability of ultra-processed foods in their neighbourhoods and the barriers to and facilitators of consumption of such foods.DesignA qualitative design was chosen. In-depth, face-to-face semi-structured interviews were conducted and a content analysis was performed.SettingSão Paulo, Brazil.SubjectsA purposeful sample of adults (n 48), stratified by sex and age group (20–39 years and 40–59 years).ResultsAll participants perceived their neighbourhoods as favourable regarding the availability of ultra-processed foods. Three barriers were identified: health concerns, not appreciating the taste of these foods and not being used to eating them. Five facilitators, however, were identified: appreciating the taste of these foods, their children’s preference, convenience, addiction and cost.ConclusionsParticipants perceived their neighbourhoods as favourable to the consumption of ultra-processed foods and reported more facilitators than barriers to their consumption. Reported barriers point to the need to include measures promoting a healthy food system and traditional eating practices. The facilitators reinforce the idea that these foods are habit-forming and that regulatory measures to offset the exposure to ultra-processed foods are necessary.

AbstractThis study focuses on Western medical practices in the Atiwa District of Ghana. The people of Atiwa District accessed Western medicinal practice to prevent and cure diseases. Before the advent of Western medical practice in the Atiwa District, people were unable to access Western medicine due to the challenges with travelling or trekking from rural communities to the towns where they would find limited Western oriented health centres/hospitals. Although there were challenges, the local population continued to highly embrace practitioners and also accessed the basic Western oriented medical facilities. Western medical strategies were used to combat skin diseases, stomach aches, and malaria that was prevalent in the Atiwa District. The other diseases which afflicted the people and which required urgent attention included cerebrospinal meningitis (CSM), tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS among others. Findings from the study revealed that the introduction and success of western medical practice in the Atiwa District could not have been possible without a positive reception from the indigenous people. Importantly, this study has projected the relevance of public health in the history of the people of Atiwa and the significant roles played by governments to ensure the promotion of good health at the District.

Abstract: Health on of the key aspects of any human’s life and one needs to keep up good health to make progress in life. We see most of the people facing health issues during different times during their life and it is their first job as an individual to keep up their health. As weare already seeing the novel coronavirus has devastated the world for the past few months and continues to do so. We see many cases like people living in distant villages and towns where there are no proper medical facilities to have a health check-up once in a while, they need to travel long distances to get a basic health checkup done. Especially the old people who cannot travel much due to their age. A human's health can be carefully monitored and a reasonable outcome can be predicted to avoid unfortunate deaths or misfortunate occurrences by measuring temperature, sp02, or pulse and Strain upon the muscles. These factors are being collected by various devices, but have never been classified and carefully monitored for anomalies. So this system is the best option to counter the situation as it collects data and stores it in the webserver and also gives alerts. Keywords: Health, Sensors, Internet of things

Mae Cham district is located only 156 kilometers from the center for Chiang Mai, but the road trip would take at least 3 hours on the meandering mountains road.  The first dirt road that provides access between Mae Cham in Chiang Mai was completed in 1963.   The result of the road network and access to the global market has both positive and negative impacts on the people pf Mae Cham.  The access to Mae Cham has transformed the food production system in Mae Cham from being self sufficient to becoming a part of the national and international food chain.  The crops on the field have changed from rice to cash crops like animal feed corn and from local vegetables to commercial crops like cabbages, to feed into the national and international food chains.  The consumption of local food has been transformed as well.  The local dishes remain the same, while the added ingredient such as monosodium glutamate, fish sauce, seasoning powders that have increase the chance of high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.

Child mental health is a top priority for the 2015 Indonesian National Child Program with the vision of enabling Indonesian children to grow and develop in good health, to be protected and to actively participate. The Mount Merapi eruption had a major impact on the lives of the people living nearby. Many livelihoods came to a halt, forcing some people to work as sand miners until late at night. As a result, children receive less time and attention from their mothers. The combination of traumatic events and unsuitable parenting increase the tendency for depression, a grave health problem in children. Lack of awareness among parents and teachers can cause a delay in the detection and treatment of depression in children, which will negatively affect the children’s school performance and future. This community service and research project held a training on childhood depression. Twelve teachers, 55 parents, and 55 students from Kuncup Mekar Kindergarten and Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal (ABA) Kindergarten, Cangkringan, Sleman participated in the training. The training included early detection of childhood depression, game modules based on traditional games, game equipment, and the Child Depression Inventory (CDI). The output of the training was evaluated by comparing pre-test and post-test results, as well as interviews. The tendency of depression in the participating children before and after training was assessed using CDI. After the training, the average level of knowledge on early detection and prevention of depression in children increased from 33.7 to 68.0, while the average skill level in playing traditional games increased from 43.9 to 85.2. The number of students with depression tendencies declined from 37 children (67%) to 16 (39%). Traditional game training can increase the knowledge and skills of teachers and parents of kindergarten students in tackling depression in children after the eruption of Mount Merapi.
