This study aims to examine the language style (al–uslub) used by al- Barudi in his poetry with the theme of life descriptions by describing the main idea or theme, elements of feeling or emotion, and language style based on aspects of diction or choice of words, syntax or sentence structure and rhetorical aspect or meaning. This research is a type of qualitative research with a descriptive-analytical literature study by referring to Al-Barudi's poetry text as the primary source. The data analysis method used is content analysis (tahlil al–madmun).  The author uses a stylistic approach in examining and analyzing the language styles used by the poets in this poem. In examining this poem, the writer will use the stylistic theory proposed by Gorys Keraf related to the classification of types of diction, language style based on syntactic aspects, and rhetorical aspects or meaning. This poetry has the theme of "life description" with a choice of words that still maintain aesthetic values supported by a very strong language style or (al–uslub). The language style contained in the poem is very strong and appropriate with the characteristics of the neoclassical genre of poetry pioneered by al-Barudi at that time, although free, but still strongly adheres to wazan and qafiyah. Seen from the aspect of diction, the words chosen by the poet in sya'ir are quite easy to understand in a popular style. Then from the aspect of sentence structure or syntax, this poem has a climax style. The language styles based on the meaning contained in this poem are hyperbole, simile, pleonasm, apostrophe, ellipsis, assonance, erotesis, and euphemism.

Stylistic is a multidisciplinary approach that aims to foreground the peculiar properties of texts on the basis of language and derive hidden and in-depth meaning to figure out major and minor themes. The evident fact that makes Stylistic a multidisciplinary approach is its retrievable, rigorous, and replicable principles. With Stylistic science, someone can reveal the secrets of the Qur’an as a whole by analyzing all aspects of the Qur’anic linguistics. This article aimed to analyze Surah al-Najm with the Stylistic theory. The research was qualitative research with library research or literature study. The analysis was carried out using an objective approach and descriptive analysis method by reading Surah al-Najm repeatedly then collecting relevant data. So, the data that has been found was analyzed with the two terms of Stylistics, they are semantics and imagery. From this study, it was concluded that in Surah al-Najm there were (1) nouns and verb preferences, various sentence structures and sentence confirmation in syntactic aspects, synonyms and antonyms in semantic aspects, and (2) several kinds of language styles such as isti'arah, majaz, and kinayah in imagery.

Pengkalan Kuras, Langgam, Kuala Kampar, and Bunut Subdistrict, Pelalawan Regency. Petalangan tribe has various cultures in the traditions of life. A good introduction to cultural heritage by the next generation can strengthen the nation's tradition in responding to the increasingly severe challenges of the future in this era of globalization. Cultural heritage in the form of moral-spiritual inheritance, one of which is obtained and known through the tradition of belief in the traditional proverb that exists in the community. The traditional adage in the Petalangan community, among others, explains the perspective on community life. This study aims to describe the style of language in the customary proverb that is related to the perspective of life in society. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method. The data source used was the book entitled Pepatah Adat, Istilah, dan Kosa kata Masyarakat Petalangan Kabupaten Pelalawan, Riau. There are 16 traditional proverbs used as data in this study, which then obtained 3 language styles based on sentence structure and 2 language styles based on meaning. By knowing and learning the style of language in this traditional proverb, the philosophy of life and aesthetic tastes of the people of Riau can be understood. Petalangan merupakan salah satu puak asli di Provinsi Riau yang bermukim di Kecamatan Pengkalan Kuras, Langgam, Kuala Kampar, dan Bunut, Kabupaten Pelalawan. Suku Petalangan ini memiliki beraneka kebudayaan dalam kehidupan. Pengenalan yang baik terhadap warisan kebudayaan oleh generasi penerus dapat memperteguh tradisi bangsa dalam menjawab tantangan masa depan yang semakin berat dalam era globalisasi ini. Warisan kebudayaan yang berupa warisan moral-spiritual, satu di antaranya didapatkan dan diketahui keyakinan terhadap pepatah adat yang ada pada masyarakat. Pepatah adat dalam masyarakat Petalangan antara lain menjelaskan cara pandang mengenai hidup bermasyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan gaya bahasa di dalam pepatah adat yang berhubungan dengan cara pandang dalam hidup bermasyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakanpendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah buku Pepatah Adat, Istilah, dan Kosa kata Masyarakat Petalangan Kabupaten Pelalawan, Riau. Terdapat 16 pepatah adat yang dijadikan data dalam penelitian ini, yang kemudian diperoleh 3 gaya bahasa berdasarkan struktur kalimat dan 2 gaya bahasa berdasarkan makna. Dengan mengetahui dan mempelajari gaya bahasa dalam pepatah adat ini dapat dipahami filsafat hidup dan cita rasa estetika masyarakat Riau.

A poet often uses the style of language in composing poetry in order to achieve the desired beauty. Likewise with one of the famous Arab poets in the modern era, namely Nizar Qabbani. He often uses language styles, one of which is the figurative language style, to compose verses in his poems. One of his works which contains a lot of this style of figurative language is his poem entitled "Mansyūrātun Fidāiyyatun ā Al Judrāni Isrāīl". This study aims to analyze the style of figurative language used in the poem. In this study, researchers used stylistic analysis, to be able to find out the types of figurative language used by poets. The results of this study indicate that poets use several kinds of figurative language styles, namely equation or simile (tasybīh), metaphor or isti’ārah, antonomasia or kināyah, pars pro toto (majāz mursal juz’iyyah), irony and cynicism. The most figurative style of speech used by poets is the style of equality or simile (tasybīh), irony and cynicism. This is because the poem is a criticism and representation of expressions of bitterness, anger, and disappointment of the Palestinian people both towards Israel, America, and other world communities.

This research is aimed to find the language style used to represent how the figure of parking attendants in the Petition of “Malang Darurat Parkir” and show why those language styles are used by the writer of petition. Petition “Malang Darurat Parkir” is available in petisionline.net and becomes top three petitions on that webpage. This research is qualitative research by using model of critical discourse analysis by Van Dijk (2008) that has three aspects: text analysis, social cognition, and social context. The results reveal that the types of language style based on theory of Keraf (2006) used are diction, sentence structure, and direct and indirect meaning and all of those dominated by bad representation or negative connotation called marginalization. This language style used because Helmy can be inferred if he lives or ever stayed in Malang city and the confition of social or people around him also use that kind of words or connotation.  ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan gaya bahasa yang digunakan untuk merepresentasikan bagaimana tukang parkir dalam petisi “Malang Darurat Parkir” dan menunjukkan mengapa gaya bahasa tersebut digunakan oleh penulis petisi. Petisi “Malang Darurat Parkir” tersedia di laman petisionline.net dan masuk dalam deretan tiga teratas di laman tersebut. Penilitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif menggunakan model analisis wacana kritis oleh Van Dijk (2008) yang memiliki tiga aspek yaitu analisa teks, kognisi sosial, dan konteks sosial. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa tipe gaya bahasa berdasarkan teori Keraf (2006) yang digunakan adalah diksi, struktur kalimat, dan langsung tidaknya makna dan didominasi dengan representasi buruk atau konotasi negatif, yang disebut juga marginalisasi. Gaya bahasa tersebut digunakan karena dapat diduga Helmy tinggal atau pernah tinggal di Malang, dan kondisi sosial atau orang-orang disekitarnya juga menggunakan jenis kata atau konotasi tersebut.

AbstractDiction, Language Style and Sound Games on Lyrics of Melayu Songs. This study aims to determinethe aesthetic value in the lyrics of melayu songs sung by Ahmad Jais. This research is directed towardsthe lyrics of melayu songs which are more prominent in terms of diction, language style and soundgames that are used specifically to create certain effects, especially aesthetic effects.This research is adescriptive qualitative research using content analysis method. The researchers took as many as 10 lyricsof melayu songs sung by Ahmad Jais.The results showed that the dictions or choice of words in the lyricsof melayu songs sung by Ahmad Jais use both connotative and denotative meanings. There are 160diction which meanings are divided into two; 80 data with connotative meanings and 80 data withdenotative meanings. This choice of words helps the author to convey the message he wants to deliver andto add the beauty of the songs’ lyrics. The most widely used language style based on the choice of wordsis the unofficial language style found as many as 8 data. The most widely used language style accordingto the tone contained in the discourse is the powerful noble language as many as 5 data. The most widelyused in language style according to mostly used sentence structure is the climax, as many as 7 data.The most widely used language style according to the direct or indirect meaning is the style of rhetoricallanguage, as many as 10 data. From the document analysis of the lyrics of melayu songs from soundelements, it can be seen that there are 174 data from taxation elements consisting of 34 alliteration data,134 assonance data and 6 data of the combination of alliteration and assonance. From the element ofrhythm, there are 10 kinds of euphony. From the elements of the tone and the atmosphere, which are 2data of sad atmosphere, 2 data of joyful atmosphere, and 6 data of powerless atmosphere.Key words: diction, language style and sound gamesAbstrakDiksi, Gaya Bahasa dan Permainan Bunyi pada Lirik Lagu-Lagu Melayu. Penelitian ini bertujuanuntuk mengetahui nilai keindahan yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu-lagu melayu yang dibawakanoleh Ahmad Jais. Penelitian ini diarahkan terhadap lirik dalam lagu-lagu melayu yang lebih menonjoldari segi diksi, gaya bahasa dan permainan bunyi yang digunakan secara khusus untuk menimbulkanefek tertentu, khususnya efek estetis.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif denganmenggunakan metode analisis isi. Peneliti mengambil data sebanyak 10 lirik lagu-lagu melayu yangdibawakan oleh Ahmad Jais. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diksi atau pilihan kata dalam liriklagu-lagu melayu yang dibawakan oleh Ahmad Jais menggunakan makna konotatif dan juga makna205denotatif. Ada 160 data terdapat diksi, yang bermakna konotatif 80 data dan diksi yang bermaknadenotatif 80 data. Pilihan kata ini membantu penulis untuk menyampaikan pesan yang ingindisampaikannya dan menambah keindahan lirik lagunya. Gaya bahasa menurut pilihan kata yangpaling banyak digunakan adalah gaya bahasa tidak resmi sebanyak 8 data. Gaya bahasa menurut nadayang terkandung dalam wacana yang paling banyak digunakan adalah gaya bahasa mulia bertenagasebanyak 5 data. Gaya bahasa menurut struktur kalimat yang paling banyak digunakan adalah klimakssebanyak 7 data. Gaya bahasa menurut langsung tidaknya makna yang paling banyak digunakanadalah gaya bahasa retoris sebanyak 10 data. Dari analisis dokumen lirik lagu-lagu melayu dari unsurbunyi dapat diketahui ada 174 data dari unsur persajakan yang terdiri dari 34 data aliterasi dan 134data asonansi serta 6 data kombinasi aliterasi dan asonansi. Dari unsur irama ada 10 jenis efoni. Dariunsur nada dan suasana, yaitu suasana sedih ada 2 data, suasana gembira ada 2 data, dan suasana takberdaya ada 6 data.Kata-kata kunci: diksi, gaya bahasa, permainan bunyi

Utomo’s novels are very related to the theme of religion and culture. The language used tends to be simple but still interesting and beautiful so research on the form and function of language style is very interesting. The purpose of this study is to describe the form and function of language style in the three Utomo novels. Data collection is done by heuristic techniques or read by repeatedly. Data analysis method used is hermeneutics. Almost all types of figurative language styles are found, but for the sake of effective exposure, only three data would be presented as examples of the form of language style and the function of language style. The three most found figurative languages are metaphor, simile, hyperbole, personification, and sinekdoke. The function of language also varies, starting from clarifying the picture, increasing the impression, shortening the narrative, and describing the character's feelings. Fulfillment of these functions with simple but beautiful forms of language style makes Utomo's novels have high aesthetic value and are easily understood by readers.

This research is motivated by the existence of several styles of comparative attitude contained in the novel by Okky Madasari. This research is focused on the comparative language style in the novel by Okky Madasari. The purpose of this study is to describe the comparative language style in the novel by Okky Madasari. This type of research is qualitative research. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method. The data in this study are in the form of words, sentences and dialogues related to describing the comparative language style in the novel by Okky Madasari. The data source in this research is the novel by Okky Madasari. The results of this study indicate that the comparative language styles contained in the novel by Okky Madasari are, parable comparison language style, metaphor comparison language style, personification comparison language style, allagory comparison language style, and pleonasm comparison language style. The language style that is most often found is the comparative language style of parable types, and from the research results it is known that of the 10 types of language language there are only 5 types of comparative language styles found.

This study aims to describe: (1) the use of diction in Andmesh Kamaleng's first album; (2) the use of language styles contained in the songs of Andmesh Kamaleng's debut album. Researchers are interested in analyzing the diction and language style on Andmesh Kamaleng's first album because it has its own way or its own characteristics in conveying or composing a song. The object of this research is the first album from Andmesh Kamaleng which consists of 8 songs. The lyrics of the song by Andmesh Kamaleng contain 3 types of diction and 13 kinds of language styles. Diction is a choice of words that can distinguish precisely based on the nuances of meaning that arise from the idea to be conveyed. Language style is the use of words in speaking and writing in order to convince or influence a listener and reader. This research is a qualitative descriptive using content analysis method. The data source is a document in the form of song lyrics from Andmesh Kamaleng's debut album. The data collection techniques used in this study were the listening and note taking technique. Validating the data in this study using theoretical triangulation. The data analysis technique used in this research is flow analysis which includes three processes, namely: (1) data reduction; (2) Presentation of data; (3) Drawing conclusions. In the song lyrics of Andmesh Kamaleng's debut album, it contains three kinds of diction, namely diction which means denotative, connotative, and synonymy. For the language style used by the author, there are 3 kinds of language styles included in the lyrics of this song, namely: comparative language style, contradiction style, and repetition language style. The results of this study can be concluded as follows: (1) the use of word choices or diction in Andmesh Kamaleng's song lyrics, namely: 38 data denotative diction, 11 connotative diction, 11 synonymy diction, and 3 synonymy diction. The purpose of using denotative diction in a work is especially in Andmesh Kamaleng's songs so that the message conveyed by the writer can be understood by the audience; (2) the use of this language style consists of 13 types, namely: asonance as much as 46 data, alliteration of 26 data, anaphore of 18 data, personification of 10 data, tautotes with 2 data, apostrophe 5 data, epizeukis 9 data, hyperbolic 8 data, mesodilopsis 2 data, epanalepsis 1 data, metaphor 2 data, and zeugma with 2 data. Artikel  ini membahas gaya bahasa yang terdapat dalam novel “Ayat-Ayat Cinta” karya Habiburraman El Shirazy dan implementasinya dalam pengajaran sastra di MTs. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode studi kasus dan kajian pustaka . Metode ini untuk menganalisis penggunaan sistem tanda yang mengandung ide, gagasan dan nilai estetis tertentu, sekaligus untuk memahami makna yang dikandungnya. Data penelitian ini berupa penggalan gaya bahasa dalam novel “Ayat-Ayat Cinta” yang diduga berisi kalimat-kalimat bergaya bahasa tertentu. Dari hasil penelitian ini ditemukan jenis-jenis gaya bahasa dalam novel “Ayat-Ayat Cinta” meliputi gaya bahasa klimaks, antiklimaks, paralelisme, antitesis, repetisi, hiperbola, silepsis, aliterasi, litotes, asonansi, eufemisme, pleonasme, paradoks, retoris, personifikasi, ironi, sarkasme, metafora, perumpamaan/ simile, dan metonimia. Gaya bahasa yang dominan dalam novel “Ayat-Ayat Cinta”, yaitu gaya bahasa hiperbola. Implikasi gaya bahasa dalam novel “Ayat-Ayat Cinta” terhadap pengajaran sastra di MTs menitikberatkan pada sumber bahan ajar. ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research is to describe the type of language style based on sentence structure and based on whether or not the meaning and function of the language style contained in the anthology of the “Cermin Waktu” short story by Indonesian Language and Literature Education Students 2011 Faculty of Language and Art, State University of Padang. The method used is descriptive. The approach in this research is the stylistic. Based on the research conducted the type of language style based on sentence structure found 4 types of language style, namely climax, anticlimax, repetition, and antithesis. The type of language style is based on whether or not direct meaning is of two kinds, namely rhetorical  and the style of figurative language. The rhetorical style of the language is found in 7 types of language styles, namely apostrophes, asindenton, polisindenton, euphemism, pleonasm, rhetorical questions, and hyperbole. The figurative language style is found in 4 types of language styles, namely equality, metaphor, personification, and cynicism and sarcasm. The language style function contained in the anthology of the “Cermin Waktu” short story is found in 5 types of language style function, namely concreting 25 speeches, asserting 88 utterances, beautifying 24 speeches, smoothing 2 speeches, and insinuating 4 speeches.  Kata Kunci: Gaya bahasa, Fungsi, Jenis
