As a multilingual country, the Indonesian government has set the positions of local language, national language, and foreign language in education through Law of National Education System No.20 of 2003, Chapter VII, Article 33. Fifteen years passed and this paper seeks to find the results of the law in higher education students by investigating the patterns of language use of multilingual students in English Literature Study Program of FBS UNY. This is a descriptive study with parallel mixed method design. The data in this study were responses upon questions in the questionnaires distributed to respondents where the results were then analyzed quantitatively by using SPSS (17) and the results of interviews were analyzed qualitatively. The source of data in this study were 162 respondents who were students of English Literature study program, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta year 2015-2017. The results show that at home, more than 60% of students use Javanese with intimacy and habit as motivating factors. As English Literature students, they are more exposed to media in Bahasa Indonesia. On the campus, English is only used for academic purposes, Bahasa Indonesia for communicating with lecturers while Javanese is for a casual talk with classmates. Javanese is close to traditional commerce while for the modern one, they prefer to use Bahasa Indonesia. For cognitive and mental activities, Bahasa Indonesia is the most dominant, and Javanese is used more than English. These results imply that rather than conforming to the law made by the government, contexts play a more important role in forming people’s language choices. Keywords: multilingualism, local language, national language, foreign language, English Literature UNY POLA PENGGUNAAN BAHASA MAHASISWA MULTILINGUAL JURUSAN BAHASA INGGRISSebagai negara multibahasa, pemerintah Indonesia telah menetapkan posisi bahasa daerah, bahasa nasional, dan bahasa asing dalam pendidikan melalui Undang-Undang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional No.20 tahun 2003, Bab VII, Pasal 33.

HOTS must be owned by students, and need to be assessed authentically. This study aims to 1) analyze the efforts of high school teachers in Malang in developing a HOTS-authentic assessment in tissue structure materials; and 2) Analyzing the pre-validation final draft of the HOTS-authentic assessment model on tissue structure materials. The research method used is R&D. However, in line with the objectives, this publication only focuses on define, design, and develop. The develop part is only on the product (a pre-validation final draft). The research was carried out in state high schools in Malang (SSHS 1, 3, 4, 7, and 8). The study was conducted in April-November 2018. The subjects were 2 teachers from each school (there was 10 teachers). Research data and findings were analyzed by descriptive analytic qualitative. The results show that teachers have included or considered HOTS aspects in lesson plans. However, the development of HOTS aspects and their assessment were not able to be carried out maximally. In practice, in a greater percentage, teachers use lesson plans without modification or making adjustments to student conditions. They modify and incorporate the HOTS aspect if there is an opportunity to discuss with other parties who guide them. Therefore, the existence of this model is very needed. The pre-validation final draft is essentially in the form of concepts that can be linked to the MGMP activities, and various related parties, in an interactive and cyclical relationship so as to form a model of professional development of biology teachers.

The present study attempts to present the evidence of how learners of English as Second Language perform the target language by involving 20 participants from one of state universities in Yogyakarta. The participants are sitting in the first semester majoring English Literature. In investigating the target language performance this study used a writing assignment namely recount text in order to identify language development in relation to grammar acquisition comitted by the learners. Errors made by the learners tend to show interlanguage that the learners performance gains immediate status between native language and target language. The study found that the leaners explored 15 grammar aspects including past tense, modality, to + infinitive , gerund, make, passive voice ,sentence elements, prepositions, articles, collocations, singular and plural nouns, pronouns, relative pronouns, question word order and native language transfer.  The approximate cause of the errors are overgeneralization , learning strategy and native transfer. Moreover, overgeneralization becomes the most frequent in making errors that is by consistently using past tense in dealing with verbs. Thus, it is suggested that the teacher is necessary to sharpen the material spesifically based on actual evidence of learners’ performance in order to accomodate what the learners need.

The low literacy of children in Indonesia is quite alarming because it can affect the competence of critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration that Indonesian children should have. One of the effective ways to ensure that the 4C competency mastery is achieved is by improving and fostering the reading literacy skills of Indonesian children. The purpose of this community service activity is to introduce children literature to children with the aim of increasing their interest in reading and literacy from an early age. It is hoped that in the future, by knowing and reading various literary works, moral values and the cultivation of good character can be given to children. By carrying out this training, it is hoped that students can produce a simple children's work / story in the form of an anthology work. The method of implementing this activity is divided into three stages, namely; the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the final reporting stage. This activity involved two students, namely Rida Alifia (Indonesian Literature Department) and Andini Mandala Putri (English Literature Department). The community service activity partner is SD Negeri Gentan, and community service activity is conducted in SD Negeri Gentan on 21 November 2020, 28 November 2020, 5 December 2020 and 12 December 2020 through zoom meeting online. This activity was attended by 47 students of SD Negeri Gentan and was very well appreciated by the students and teachers. Students can listen well to 4 children's stories submitted by team members. They are able to answer well and retell the contents of the children's stories. The targets and outputs of this community service activity are scientific publication manuscripts published in journals, articles published in print media, activity videos, and IPR certificates.
