The research results in a number of cases allow us to judge about the change in the functional activity of the studied organs after the use of the drug. The obtained factual material significantly complements the information on the biological properties of the aqueous-alcoholic propolis emulsion. In practical veterinary medicine, research results can be taken into account when prescribing propolis for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes, since histological analysis of intestinal sections did not reveal destructive or pathological changes in all compared groups. In the field of zootechnics, the obtained practical material makes it possible to concretize the stimulating effect of the preparation in terms of stimulating the growth of animals depending on the age of pigs. So, as a result of the study, it was found that the most characteristic histological changes in the structural components of the intestinal wall are observed in the ileum of piglets and pigs of the experimental groups. The height of the villi of this intestine in piglets of the experimental piglet is 280.97 ± 3.37 μm, and in the control piglet – 193.89 ± 2.66 μm (p <0.001). In pigs receiving the drug, the villi also have a greater height – 256.89 ± 1.62 μm versus 163.96 ± 0.61 μm in the control group. In piglets and pigs of the control groups, the shape of the villi of the ileum is finger-shaped or bottle-shaped, while in the animals of the experimental groups their forms are more differentiated – bottle-shaped, leaf-shaped and dome-shaped. This will allow young animals receiving propolis to better absorb the nutrients of the diet and gain weight faster. The biochemical parameters of the blood of all animals in the dynamics of the experiment were within the physiological norm. The only exception was a slight decrease below the norm in piglets in the control group with reserve alkalinity of 44.81 ± 0.98 vol. % CO2, observed at the beginning of the experiment. The research results are of interest to researchers developing oral propolis preparations.

Abstract Research has been carried out on the use of the symbiotic “Rumimaster” in balanced diets of highly productive cows in the conditions of the breeding plant “Kirovskaya meadow-bog experimental station”. The experiment was carried out on two groups of animals in the middle of lactation with a duration of 90 days. The inclusion of the feed additive “Rumimaster” in the diet of experienced cows contributed to an increase in the gross production of natural and 4% fat milk by 124.5 kg and 128.4 kg, the yield of milk fat and milk protein by 5.2 and 4.1 kg, respectively. … The differences between the groups for these parameters were in the range of 5.1-5.7%. The productivity of cows for 305 days of lactation in the experimental group was higher than in the control by 7.5%. The symbiotic “Rumimaster” promoted the activation of digestion processes, which was reflected in the increase in the time of feed consumption and the duration of the chewing gum. The cows of the experimental group showed an increase in the level of digestibility of the main nutrients. In terms of the digestibility of crude protein and crude fiber, the experimental group of cows significantly exceeded the indicators of the control group by 3.3 and 3 absolute percent, respectively. The blood biochemical parameters of the animals of the experimental and control groups were within the physiological norm. The economic evaluation of the research results showed the effectiveness of the use of the symbiotic “Rumimaster” in the diets of lactating cows, which was expressed in the receipt of additional profit from one cow in the amount of 1,344.79 rubles for the period of experience and an increase in the profitability of milk production by 2.1 absolute percent.

This study aimed to investigate the protective influence of olive leave extract zinc oxidenanoparticles (OLEZnONPs) complex against gentamicin–induced kidney dysfunctions ingoats. Twenty five adult female goats were randomly divided into five equal groups andtreated as follows: control group (C) administered sterile distilled water (IM) for 10 days, group G administered 25 mg/kg BW gentamicin (IM) for 7 days, group Z administered 10μg/kg BW of OLEZnONPs (IP) for 3 days, group GTZ administered 25 mg/kg BW gentamicin(IM) for 7 days and then 10 μg/kg BW of OLEZnONPs (IP) for 3 days, group GWZadministered 25 mg/kg BW gentamicin (IM) and 10 μg/kg BW of OLEZnONPs (IP) togetherfor first 3 days and then followed by gentamicin only for 4 days. After seven days of theexperiment, the gene expression of kidney injury molcule-1(KIM-1) and neutrophilgelatinase-association lipocalin (NGAL) gene expression of kidney tissue were measured. Inaddition, samples of kidney were obtained for histopathological examination. Gentamicinmedication induced a marked elevation in kidney tissue KIM-1 and NGAL gene expressionin G and GTZ groups compared to control and other groups. Intraperitoneal treatment ofgoats with OLEZnONPs did not significantly affect NGAL and KIM-1 gene expression in Z,GWZ, and control groups. Histologically, in contrast to control, gentamicin induced moreextensive kidney damages such as necrotized glomeruli, atrophic glomeruli, and renaltubular epithelial necrosis, while it was found that these alterations in kidney tissues wereimproved in goats given OLEZnONPs with gentamicin compared to group G. In conclusion, our results demonstrate that OLEZnONPs reduce the deleterious effects of gentamicin withsignificantly decreasing of KIM-1 and NGAL gene expression and remodeling the histologicalchanges of kidney in goats

The high plan of nutrition right from an early age is believed to enhance ovarian activity and early onset of puberty in heifers. This study was therefore conducted to know the body weight, ovarian and blood biochemical changes in nutritionally supplemented and control groups of prepubertal Jaffrabadi buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) heifers. A total of 12 animals of 30 ± 2 month's age and the identical body weight of 380–410 kg from Cattle Breeding Farm, JAU, Junagadh were utilized for this study. They were randomly divided into two equal groups of 6 animals in each treatment and control groups. The heifers of the treatment group were supplemented with bypass fat (100 g), bypass protein (950 g) and chelated mineral mixture (50 g) over the routine farm feeding practices of control group, and its effect on body weight gain and blood biochemical profiles were studied at a monthly interval during 6 months of experimental period. The overall effect of nutritional supplementation on animals body weight, blood glucose and total cholesterol over the control group was statistically non-significant (p greator than 0.05) yet beneficial. The plasma total protein levels in the supplemented group increased with a duration of supplement and levels were significantly (p less than 0.05) higher over the control group. The ovarian dynamics evaluated by transrectal ultrasound during last three months of the study revealed an increasing number of growing follicles greator than 4 mm in diameters (5.00 ± 0.13 to 6.67 ± 0.40), without significant variation in diameters of largest follicles (9.14 ± 0.45 to 10.27 ± 0.85 mm) between groups or periods. However, none of the heifers exhibited behavioral signs of estrus during 6 months study, in spite of the establishment of cyclicity with the presence of developed follicles, or CLs suggesting silent ovulation, at 36 ± 2 months of age in this breed.

This paper presents the results of experimental studies the influence of biologically active substances of propolis on micromorphometric parameters of the ileum in young pigs. The results of the experiment make it possible to ascertain a change in the functional activity of the studied organ after the use of the drug from propolis. Since the most active process of absorption of monomeric hydrolysis products, especially amino acids and carboxylic acids, occurs in the ileum. Hydrolysis of intermediate products to monomers and preparation of the transition to absorption is carried out by enzymes fixed on the intestinal cell membranes. And the level of bioconversion of feed and retention of nutrients depends on their shape and structure, which ultimately affects the payment for feed with products. Therefore, the study of the histology of the small intestine and especially the ileum is of great importance. So, as a result of the study, it was found that the most characteristic histological changes in the structural components of the intestinal wall are observed in young animals of the experimental groups. The thickness of the main lamina of the mucous membrane of the ileum in piglets in the control group is 308.28 ± 2.81 µm, in piglets in the experimental group – 255.49 ± 0.75 µm. The height of the villi of the ileum, in the animals of the control group, is significantly lower and amounts to 193.89 ± 2.66 µm versus 280.97 ± 3.37 µm in the experimental group. Similar changes are observed in young animals of the older age group. The height of intestinal villi in pigs of the experimental group significantly exceeds the indicator of the control group and is 256.89 ± 1.62 µm and 163.96 ± 0.61 µm, respectively. The muscle plate of the intestinal mucosa of the pigs in the experimental group is significantly thicker than the control and is 17.8 ± 0.2 μm and 8.89 ± 0.08 μm, respectively. The obtained experimental material substantially supplements the information on the biological properties of propolis preparations. In practical veterinary medicine, research results can be taken into account when prescribing propolis for medicinal and prophylactic purposes. Since histological analysis of intestinal sections did not reveal destructive or pathological changes in any of the compared groups. In feeding, using the obtained practical material, we can specify the stimulating effect of the propolis preparation to intensify the growth of animals depending on the age of the pigs.

Objectives: To analyze the antibiotic resistance in children with acute appendicitis caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa(P. aeruginosa), and to explore the predictors of infection and antibiotic resistance in children with acute appendicitis through blood biochemical indicators Methods: 50 control children (with no bacteria detected in the culture) and 103 children with P. aeruginosa infection who were admitted to the general surgery department of Jiangxi children’s hospital and treated surgically from January 2015 to June 2019 were analyzed. Results: Cefotaxime, cotrimoxazole and tetracycline had the highest drug resistance rates in children with appendicitis caused by P. aeruginosa, with (93.20%, 96/103), (93.20%, 96/103) and (93.20%, 96/103), respectively. There were significant pattern differences between the P. aeruginosa infected group and penicillin antibiotics resistant group. The combination of glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT), phosphorus (P), free fatty acid (FFA) and fibrinogen (CFbg) could effectively identify whether children with acute appendicitis were infected by P. aeruginosa and whether they were resistant to penicillin antibiotics. For the control group and P. aeruginosa infected group, area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) value of the four indicators was 0.9034 (95% CI, 0.8514 - 0.9555), with a sensitivity and specificity of 84.76% and 87.93%, respectively. For the group with or without penicillin antibiotics resistance, the AUROC value was 0.9341 (95% CI, 0.8681 - 1.0000), with a sensitivity and specificity of 89.04% and 96.88%, respectively. Conclusions: Clinical blood biochemical indicators can reflect bacterial infection and antibiotic resistance in children with acute appendicitis to a certain extent, and the combination of GGT, P, FFA, and CFbg can predict P. aeruginosa infection and penicillin antibiotics resistance in children with acute appendicitis.

Abstract Background Probiotics are direct-fed microbial feed supplements which can modulate the gut microflora by competing intestinal pathogens through a competitive process. The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of feeding Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Bacillus subtilis or their mixture on blood biochemical constituents, intestinal pathogenic load and intestinal histological changes of growing New Zealand White (NZW) rabbits. Results Serum total protein, albumin, and globulin were (P ≤ 0.05) increased for rabbits fed supplemented diets. Microbial pathogenic load of small intestinal and caecal contents (E. coli and C. perfringens) showed reduction (P ≤ 0.05) for rabbits fed supplemented diets, while, lactobacillus spp. recorded higher counts (P ≤ 0.05) in intestinal and caecal contents of rabbits fed probiotics supplemented diets than control group. Small intestine length, villus height and crypt depth were higher (P ≤ 0.05) with probiotic diets than control. Musculosa depth was depressed (P ≤ 0.05) with probiotic diets. Conclusions It could be concluded that the addition of Bacillus subtilis or Saccharomyces cerevisiae to diets of growing NZW rabbits by 0.1% is recommended to minimize the pathogenic intestinal load and increasing of beneficial lactobacillus strains as well as improving the intestinal barriers integrity.

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a collective term for the positional and geometric isomers of a conjugated diene of linoleic acid (C18:2, n-6). The aims of the present study were to evaluate whether levels of hepatic α-tocopherol, α-tocopherol transfer protein (α-TTP), and antioxidant enzymes in mice were affected by a CLA-supplemented diet. C57BL/6 J mice were divided into the CLA and control groups, which were fed, respectively, a 5 % fat diet with or without 1 g/100 g of CLA (1:1 mixture of cis-9, trans-11 and trans-10, cis-12) for four weeks. α-Tocopherol levels in plasma and liver were significantly higher in the CLA group than in the control group. Liver α-TTP levels were also significantly increased in the CLA group, the α-TTP/β-actin ratio being 2.5-fold higher than that in control mice (p<0.01). Thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances were significantly decreased in the CLA group (p<0.01). There were no significant differences between the two groups in levels of three antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and catalase). The accumulation of liver α-tocopherol seen with the CLA diet can be attributed to the antioxidant potential of CLA and the ability of α-TTP induction. The lack of changes in antioxidant enzyme protein levels and the reduced lipid peroxidation in the liver of CLA mice are due to α-tocopherol accumulation.
