Oral health & general health go hand in hand as one influences the other. The oral cavity can be called as the gateway to the body as it serves as an entry point to all forms of infection. To attain good oral health, one needs to have knowledge of dietary habits and oral hygiene practices.  . The extreme weather and hard labour conditions in the salt pans cause a lot of morbidities among the salt workers. These morbidities are aggravated if the salt workers do not protect themselves with personal protective measures. From the study, we can infer that the understanding of the mindset of daily wage workers can be key to providing them with dental treatment for their needs. The study aims to measure the knowledge and attitude about oral health maintenance and habits among salt pan workers in Tuticorin district.  This survey was carried out among salt pan workers in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu to assess their awareness about common dental health problems and data was collected using a pre-designed questionnaire and samples were assigned using convenience sampling methods. Data were collected after obtaining informed consent and steps were taken to ensure confidentiality at all stages. A maximum of 10 people was asked to visit the clinic to take the survey. It was conducted over a period of 10 days. Both male & female workers were involved in the study. The data was collected and tabulated in an excel sheet. Then the raw data was later transferred to SPSS Software. Salt pan workers generally have dental problems, dermatological problems and musculoskeletal problems as the most common morbidities among them. This study showed that more than 50% of the salt pan workers in Tuticorin have good awareness towards oral health.

One of the factors that influence Kadarzi's achievement is the knowledge and attitudes of the toddler's mother. This study aims to determine the effect of counseling using backsheet media on the knowledge and attitudes of toddlers' mothers about Kadarzi in the Cipeundeuy Health Center District of West Bandung Regency. The research design used was quasi-experimental with a pre-post test control group design model with a total sample of 28 people each for the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group was given an intervention in the form of counseling using flipchart media, while the control group was given an intervention in the form of counseling using leaflet media. The results obtained from the Wilcoxon test in the experimental group and the t-dependent test in the control group were changes in the increase in knowledge and attitude scores in the experimental group and the control group after intervention (p <0.005). The results of the Mann-Whitney test showed no significant difference between knowledge and attitude scores in the experimental group and the control group (p> 0.005). It is better to do further research related to Kadarzi's behavior so that the application of the Kadarzi indicator can be monitored so that it can describe the results of attitudinal changes, and to increase Kadarzi's knowledge and attitudes to toddler mothers.

Abstract Background: Acid mist can suspend in the air and enter the body via skin contact, the respiratory tract, or even oral intake, which pose various health hazards. Previous studies have shown that occupational exposure to acid mist or acidic solutions is a major risk factor for oral diseases. However, the findings are inconsistent and do not consider individual factors and lifestyles that may cause the same oral diseases. Therefore, we conducted a comprehensive oral health survey and collected detail information to confirm the effect of acidic solution exposure on worker’s oral health. Methods: From 4 acidic solution factories, a total of 309 subjects (157 in control and 152 in exposed group) was enrolled. All participants competed oral examinations and self-report questionnaire, including the decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT) index, community periodontal index (CPI), loss of attachment (LA) index, and tooth erosion. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine the association between the acidic solution exposure and oral health. Results: The results showed that acid exposure was correlated with soft oral tissue injury rather than hard oral tissue in our survey. In the multivariate model (adjusted for sex, age, worked years, education level, mouthwash use, dental floss use, tooth brushing, mask use, smoking, drinking, chewing areca and dietary habits with acidic foods), significant relationships of acid exposure with LA score were observed (OR=2.32, 95% CI 1.03-5.26). However, the presence of acid exposure was not significantly associated with tooth erosion, DMFT, and CPITN.Conclusion: Our study highlighted that occupational acid exposure was an independent risk factor for periodontal health, especially LA. It is important to strengthen occupational hazard control, educate workers on oral disease and related factors, and raise the awareness of oral hygiene.

AIM: This research aims to determine the effect of educational media development in increasing knowledge and attitudes about complications of pregnancy and childbirth in pregnant women. METHODS: This research method passed through several stages as follows: First stage consisted of the development of educational media (leaflets), and second stage consisted of development test with leaflet media using a quasi-experimental research design. The samples were Trimester I to Trimester III pregnant women who visited Sayang Rakyat Hospital Makassar, which consisted of 30 people as intervention group and 30 people as control group. The intervention group was provided leaflets while the control group was provided books on maternal and child health. Data analysis used Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Mann–Whitney test. RESULTS: The results showed that there are differences in case of knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding complications of pregnancy and childbirth before and after being provided with leaflet intervention with a value of p = 0.000. Likewise, there are differences in the case of knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding pregnancy and childbirth complications between the intervention and control groups with p = 0.041 and 0.001, respectively. CONCLUSION: Educational media on knowledge and attitudes about complications of pregnancy and childbirth has a positive effect in pregnant women at Sayang Rakyat Hospital in Makassar.
