Worms are still a serious problem for poor and developing countries. Children, especially school-age children, are more at risk of infection. Efforts need to be made to prevent the effects of worms. Prevention can be done through a promotive approach. This observational study with a pre-posttest and cross-sectional approach is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of health education on healthy and helminthic behavior and analyzing the impact of helminthiasis on the deficit in the diet and children’s learning achievement. The number of samples is 60 students from five grade 3 and 4 elementary schools in North Pontianak, West Kalimantan. The sampling technique was carried out by proportional random sampling. Worm infection in elementary school students was 16.7%, anemia was 55%, and learning achievement scores were less than the average grade of 55%. There was a significant difference in health counseling towards a decrease in the worm number (p=0.046). There was a significant relationship between healthy living behavior and helminthiasis (p=0.005). There was a significant relationship between helminthiasis and anemia (p=0.017). There is a relationship between helminthiasis and learning achievement in elementary school children (p=0.017). There is a relationship between anemia and learning achievement (p=0.005). It is necessary for public health centers to provide treatment services for worms and health education about the effects of helminthiasis on health and learning achievement. The school should provide hand washing facilities in schools, and parents should play an active role in improving clean and healthy lifestyle habits at home.

The existence of partners who will be selected by the implementing team are teachers who teach at STATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (SDN) 206 Putraco Indah Bandung. Partners were chosen because they have not fully implemented the Bandung city government program, namely "Bandung Masagi Pillar of Love for the Environment" as an effort to reforest and organize the environment in every school in the city. The problem faced by partners is that there are no funds to carry out the program and the environmental arrangement is not yet complete, especially the back of the school, then teachers have difficulty finding methods to educate students because almost 75% of the students are Children with Special Needs to thoroughly instill knowledge about Environmental Education ( PLH). The students not only memorize theories, but also implement their knowledge in daily behavior and self character. So that the solution that will be carried out is by providing guidance on making preparation plans for environmental thematic learning then school greening practices which include improving hygiene facilities such as toilets, sinks, and empowering teacher-students in maintaining gardens, composters and waste banks as well as environmental stewardship that is representative. The training providers are a combination of experts from BPLH and PGSD UNPAS. The activities that will be carried out are providing training in making environmental thematic lesson plans, then carrying out school greening and cleaning school facilities. The results of monitoring can be scientific publications in ISSN journals/Proceedings and publications in print/online/repocitory mass media. From this assistance, it is hoped that the teacher's ability to develop PLH RPP for elementary school students will increase so that it is more attractive and becomes good behavior for aspects of environmental protection. In addition, teachers are expected to be able to make modules for learning PLH that are interesting and increase the attractiveness of the environment to students' daily lives. In addition to these two elementary schools, they also have problems with environmental hygiene and sanitation facilities that do not meet health standards. This PKM will provide solutions by improving cleaning facilities such as toilets, sinks, improving the environment, and empowering teachers and students in maintaining gardens, composters and waste banks. The activity of making lesson plans (RPP) for Elementary School (SD) teachers must be thematic. So that the arrangement of the school environment can create a beautiful, cool, clean, healthy atmosphere and can support the process of implementing KBM. A conducive school environment is needed in producing a comfortable learning process. A conducive school environment will contribute to the realization of a quality lifestyle which is currently very much needed in increasing educational productivity.

ABSTRACT Objective: to evaluate and compare the phonological awareness of low vision students with normal vision ones. Methods: this is a cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative research that was performed through the application of the Oral Phonological Awareness Test, which is composed of ten subtests, with four items each. The population consisted of 30 students attending public elementary school, aged 8 to 14 years, and divided into two groups of 15 participants each: the study group and the control one. Results: the p value found was less than 1% for the Phonemic Synthesis, Rhyme, Phonemic Segmentation, Syllabic Manipulation, Phonemic Manipulation questionnaires, in addition to the two Phonemic Transposition questionnaires, thus, considering the significance level of 1%, and rejecting equality in the results of the questionnaires. Considering the significance level of 1%, and since the p-value obtained was less than 1%, a statistically significant difference was observed in the variance analysis of the sum of the points obtained in all questionnaires. Conclusion: The Study Group, which was represented by low vision students, had lower results in most of the subtests of the Oral Phonological Awareness Test, except for the Syllabic Synthesis test, in which they had similar results as those of the Control Group, represented by normal vision students.

Current waste management problems often occur in Yogyakarta. This is due to population growth which results in an increase the amount of waste generated. The occurrence is certainly not comparable with the area and number of Final Disposal Sites that do not increase. One method of waste management that can be applied is a Waste Bank. After conducting a preliminary survey at Anjani Asrih Waste Bank, there are 20-25% of customers were actively saving. Therefore, a method is needed that can increase customer participation. JUMAMPAH (Waste Monitoring Interpreter) is a method created by researchers who is expected to be able to increase children's knowledge about sorting and saving rubbish so that in the long run it can increase the participants of waste bank customers. The research is quasi-experimental research with a Pre-test design Post-test by using Control Group Design. The location of the study was in Surokarsan 2 Elementary School and Kintelan 1 Elementary School. Surokarsan 2 Elementary School as an experimental group received treatment in the form of counseling using media power points while Kintelan 1 Elementary School as a control group did not receive any treatment. The results of the statistical analysis using Mann-Whitney for knowledge of sorting out the waste, waste saving knowledge obtained p-value 0,000 <0,05 and JUMAMPAH practice indicated there was a significant difference. The conclusionof the research show there is significant difference in the value of the knowledge of sorting out waste, saving waste and JUMAMPAH practices on Surokarsan 2 Elementary School students as an experimental group and Kintelan 1 Elementary School students as a control group.

Background: The case of helminthiasis in elementary school children in Indonesia is still quite high at 28%. This worm disease is caused by the Soil Transmited Helminths (STH) group. This group of worms is transmitted by means of land. The environment contaminated by worm eggs increases the incidence of helminthiasis in children. Objective: To analyze the relationship between home environmental sanitation and helminthiasis in elementary school students in Deli Serdang Regency. Method: This study was analytical with cross-sectional data analysis. The population of this study were all Muhammadiyah 37 Tanjung Selamat Elementary School students with a sample of 58 people. The research data was obtained from questionnaires, observations, and faecal examination in the laboratory with the method of using a 1-2% eosin method. Results and Discussion: Based on the results of the questionnaire and observation, it was found that 34.5% of children lived in a home environment that did not comply health requirements. Laboratory results showed that 15.5% of children were infected by the Soil Transmitted Helminths. The results of the statistical test showed a significant relationship between environmental sanitation and STH infection in elementary school students in Deli Serdang District with p-value = 0.003 (p-value <0.005). Conclusions and suggestions: There is a relationship between environmental sanitation and helminthiasis in elementary school students in Deli Serdang Regency. It is recommended to the school to always provide understanding to children about the importance of maintaining cleanliness of the school environment and also reactivating the School Health Unit program and enforcing discipline and providing guidance for children who lack hygiene such as cutting long nails as a discipline to hygiene child.

BACKGROUND - OBJECTIVE To explore and discuss the influences on 7~9-year-old children’s physical activity and cardiopulmonary endurance. METHODS Recruiting 1st and 2nd-grade elementary school students and their parents at an elementary school in Changping District, Beijing. The study made an investigation of PA level, economic and educational status on the subject families, and the other main contents including medical history and family history. The PA data of the parents were measured by the ActiGraph GT3X + accelerometer (Actigraph, Pensacola, FL, USA), and the children’s PA data were obtained by the revised PAQ-A. 50m*8 shuttle run were carried out to test the children’s cardiopulmonary endurance. RESULTS 36 families were recruited and completed the examination. There was a significant difference in the children’ PA scores between sPAf(PA sufficient family) (3.02±0.53) and iPAf(PA insufficient family) (2.61±0.58)(P<0.05), and the BMI of the two groups (15.63±1.95 vs17.77±3.67) showed great difference(P<0.01). The child from sPAf had better cardiopulmonary endurance than those from iPAf. The parent of high income, a high educational background had higher moderate to vigorous PA, and so did their child. There was a high positive correlation of the sedentary time and light PA every day of the husband and wife in a family. CONCLUSIONS The influence factors that affected the 7~9-year-old children’s PA level and cardiopulmonary endurance included their parent’s PA level, economic income, educational background, especially the mother’s PA played a prominent part. The study found there existed interaction of respective PA levels inside the couple.

This study added to existing data on home school effectiveness by comparing the academic achievement of 66 home school students with 66 of their grade-level peers in traditional public schools. The two groups of students were matched on gender, race, and grade level and were administered the Woodcock-Johnson Psychoeducational Battery III. No significant difference in overall academic achievement was found between the groups. Both home school and public school students had average or above average scores in reading, math, written language, and broad knowledge (science, social studies, and humanities). The results further revealed a downward trend in math, reading and broad knowledge scores with increasing grade level. This trend suggests that home school and public school students experience a “developmental mismatch” between the changes that occur in adolescence and their school/home experiences, resulting in lower motivation, confidence, and academic performance.
