Speaking skills is a crucial element which all students in Malaysian polytechnic should master. The new English syllabus introduced in Polytechnic is aimed at building confidence and fluency in English for students as well as enabling them to function effectively at the workplace. Majority of the Communicative English assessment requires students to communicate in English either as individuals or in groups, but many students are still reluctant to speak in front of the classroom and have a very low level of confidence. Thus, Video Project Assignment (VPA) is implemented to boost the achievement of students in the field of Communicative English. The aims of this study are 1) to analyse the student’s perception on the use of Video Project Assignment (VPA) in Communicative English subject, 2) to examine students’ engagement level towards the use of Video Project Assignment (VPA) based on emotional engagement and cognitive engagement and 3) to identify students’ achievement in DUE3012 Communicative English 2 subject. A set of questionnaire was used to gather data from thirty-three respondents from one of the polytechnics in Johor. Descriptive analysis technique was used to analyzed the data gathered from questionnaire. Result of the study indicates that by generating Video Project Assignment (VPA), students demonstrate positive perception, engagement, and achievement. This study also provides the students, lecturers, and potential researcher with a good inference.

This study aims to determine the effect of student engagement on student achievement in the Faculty of Communication and Business, Telkom University. The aspects studied were cognitive engagement, emotional engagement and behavioral engagement in terms of student engagement. And the value of GPA for learning achievement. The method in this study uses descriptive analysis techniques with simple linear regression analysis. To collect the sample using incidental sampling technique through a questionnaire. This questionnaire was distributed to 361 students of the Faculty of Communication and Business Telkom University. From the results of tests conducted, it is found that there is a relationship between student engagement on learning achievement. Where this relationship is perfectly positive correlation. And there is no significant effect between student engagement on learning achievement.

This research takes the object of Sebening Syahadat by Diva SR, this work is a novel that tells the story of the journey ofa teenager named Sam who is in the process ofsearching for identity. The journey is filled with interesting twits and turns embelissed with a love story that is very suitable if consumed by the younger generation who are learning to find identit. This study aims to reveal the value motives that led Sam’s character in finding his identity, which expected to be a material for reflection for readers, especially young people who are in the process of discovering his identity, the scope of the problem in this study is to reveal the value motives that affect the character’s psyche. Sam is told to have a rascal character.The research method used in this study took a descriptive qualitative approach, data colletion used was a literature study technique with stages of reading, note taking, coding for futher analysis. The analysis technique used is qualitative descriptive analysis technique.The result of the research in this research process indicate that the mental process of Sam’s character influenced by several factors, including: a. Motives in cultural factors (Situasional Factors), b. The motive for love begins with admiration for the attitude of someone who is full of noble values of character, c. The motive of curiosity and fulfillment of his needs for true value.

This study aims to determine the effect of Total Quality Management (TQM) on employee productive behavior and company performance at PT. Tomorrow’s Antiques Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative method with a sample of 104 employees. Data was collected by observation, interviews, documentation, literature, and questionnaires. The analysis technique used descriptive analysis, path analysis (analysis path), and sobell test. The results of the total quality management (TQM) research have a positive and significant effect on employee productive behaviour at PT. Tomorrow's Antiques with coefficient of 0.986 and a sig value of 0.00 <0.05; employee productive behavior has a positive and significant effect on company performance at PT. Tomorrow's Antiques with coefficient of 0.606 and a sig value of 0.00 <0.05; total quality management (TQM) has a positive and significant effect on company performance at PT. Tomorrow's Antiques with coefficient of 0.396 and a sig value of 0.00 <0.05, and employee productive behaviour can mediate the effect of total quality management (TQM) on company performance at PT. Tomorrow's Antiques with Z value (17,311) > Z table (1,96).

This study aims to: (1) develop thematic textbooks based on local wisdom of our best friend's environmental theme material for grade V elementary school students, (2) Know the validity, practicality and effectiveness of thematic textbooks based on local wisdom of our best friend's environmental theme material for grade students V elementary school. The development of thematic textbook learning media based on local wisdom uses the Research and Development (R & D) method. The development stages include: (1) Potentials and problems, (2) Data collection, (3) Product design, (4) Design validation, (5) Design revision, (6) Product testing, (7) Product revision (Sugiyono, 2016). The research was conducted with 33 students from class V SDN 2 Sendang Jepara Regency. Initial product development is a process of making media based on needs analysis. Expert testing or validation was carried out by 2 experts, namely media experts and material experts. The data collection method in this research is observation, interview, and questionnaire. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis and comparison test of two independent groups, namely using the independent t-test. Based on the results of the trial, this thematic teaching material is very valid, very interesting, effective and can be applied in learning. This can be seen from the results of the validation test from three experts which show that the product is good. The results of the effectiveness test showed that the experimental class students had better learning outcomes than the control class. This means that textbooks based on local wisdom of Jepara Regency are developed effectively

This article aims to examine and describe the influence of guidance and counseling management on learning discipline. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method using survey techniques. Data collection techniques that used are documentation studies and field studies. Moreover, the data analysis technique that has been used to answer the research hypothesis is statistical analysis with a path analysis model. The location of the study was at the Ciledug Vocational High School Al-Musaddadiyah Garut, with 85 respondents taking part in the survey. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena minat baca siswa dan pengaruh minat baca terhadap pertumbuhan kemampuan belajar siswa pada jenjang-jenjang pendidikan selanjutnya. Kepala sekolah sebagai lokomotif perkembangan mutu pendidikan memiliki peran strategi bagi pengumbuhan dan pengembangan minat baca peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran kepala madrasah sebagai edukator, manajer, dan innovator dalam pengembangan minat baca peserta didik di MIT Nurul Islam Kota Semarang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif lapangan, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan triangulasi, serta dianalisis dengan teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Peran kepala madrasah sebagai edukator dalam pengembangan minat baca peserta didik meliputi meliputi tiga pembinaan, yakni pembinaan mental dan moral, serta pembinaan artistik. 2) Peran kepala madrasah sebagai manajer dalam pengembangan minat baca peserta didik di MIT Nurul Islam meliputi penerapan fungsi-fungsi manajemen dengan didasarkan pada pada kerjasama dengan USAID dan UIN Walisongo Semarang. 3) Peran kepala madrasah sebagai innovator dalam pengembangan minat baca peserta didik di MIT Nurul Islam Kota Semarang meliputi inovasi strategi, pola pikir (mindset) dan struktur. Abstract This research is motivated by the phenomenon of reading interest of students and the influence of reading interest on the growth of students' learning ability in the next level of education. The principal as a locomotive of the development of the quality of education has a strategic role for the growth and development of reading interest of learners. This study aims to determine the role of principal as an educator, manager, and innovator in the development of reading interest of learners in MIT Nurul Islam Semarang City. This research is a qualitative field research, data collected through observation, interview, documentation and triangulation, and analyzed by descriptive analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that: 1) The role of principal as an educator in the development of reading interest of learners includes three activities are coaching, namely mental and moral coaching, and artistic coaching. 2) The role of principal as manager in the development of reading interest of learners at MIT Nurul Islam covers the application of management functions based on cooperation with USAID and UIN Walisongo Semarang. 3) The role of principal as innovator in the development of reading interest of learners at MIT Nurul Islam Semarang City includes innovation strategy, mindset, and structure.

Millions of students follow online classes which are delivered in video format. Several studies examine the impact of these video formats on engagement and learning using explicit measures and outline the need to also investigate the implicit cognitive and emotional states of online learners. Our study compared two video formats in terms of engagement (over time) and learning in a between-subject experiment. Engagement was operationalized using explicit and implicit neurophysiological measures. Twenty-six (26) subjects participated in the study and were randomly assigned to one of two conditions based on the video shown: infographic video or lecture capture. The infographic video showed animated graphics, images, and text. The lecture capture showed a professor, providing a lecture, filmed in a classroom setting. Results suggest that lecture capture triggers greater emotional engagement over a shorter period, whereas the infographic video maintains higher emotional and cognitive engagement over longer periods of time. Regarding student learning, the infographic video contributes to significantly improved performance in matters of difficult questions. Additionally, our results suggest a significant relationship between engagement and student performance. In general, the higher the engagement, the better the student performance, although, in the case of cognitive engagement, the link is quadratic (inverted U shaped).

The Relationship

Enabling people to send and receive short text-based messages in real-time, instant messaging (IM) is a communication technology that allows instantaneous information exchanges. The development of technology makes IM communication widely adopted in the workplace, which brings a series of changes for modern contemporary working life. Based on the conservation of resource theory (COR), this paper explores the mechanism of workplace IM communication on employees’ psychological withdrawal, and investigates the mediating role of work engagement in the relationship and the moderating role of self-control. Using the experience sampling method (ESM), a 10-consecutive workdays daily study was conducted among 66 employees. By data analysis of 632 observations using SPSS and HLM, results found that: (1) IM demands had a positive relation with emotion and cognitive engagement. (2) Emotion and cognitive engagement were negatively correlated with psychological withdrawal. (3) Emotion and cognitive engagement mediated the relations of IM demands and psychological withdrawal. (4) Self-control moderated the relationship between emotional engagement and psychological withdrawal.

PurposeThis research examined the factors affecting several types of student engagement, namely agentic, behavioral, emotional and cognitive engagement. Specifically, it examined the effect of e-learning system usability on student engagement and explored teacher behavior's possible intervening impact on this relationship.Design/methodology/approachData were collected from 418 students studying at different specializations at Omani private academic institutions. This study employed a quantitative methodology and utilized the Smart-PLS for data analyses.FindingsThe findings showed that e-learning system usability influenced significantly and positively agentic, behavioral and cognitive engagement. However, the link between e-learning system usability and emotional engagement was not significant. Moreover, teacher behavior mediated the relationship between e-learning system usability and the four types of engagement.Originality/valueThis study improves one’s understanding of how the interaction of e-learning system usability and teacher behavior affects several aspects of student engagement. It also helps higher education administrators and policymakers by exploring the influential effects of e-learning systems usability and teacher behavior on facilitating students' engagement.

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the management of Government Fixed Assets inPegunungan Bintang Regency. The analysis technique used in this study was descriptive analysis.The paper described the Analysis of Regional Property Administration Evaluation in thePegunungan Bintang District Government. The data was shown in tables with numbers andpercentages to be analyzed further with descriptive analysis. In analyzing research data the authoruses qualitative descriptive analysis, also known as content analysis.The results of the study showed that the administration of regional fixed assets in terms of recordingthe assets, The Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) in Pegunungan BintangRegency has carried out the bookkeeping. This comprises of process of recording regional fixedassets in lists of its users, the inventory cards, and in the database of regional’s fixed assets. Beforerecording the assets, at first, Asset have been identified into its classification based on the type andcodes of regional fixed assets. Thus, in general, it can be concluded that the implementation ofaccounting in the administration of fixed assets in The Financial and Asset Management Agency ofPegunungan Bintang Regency has been well implemented. Evaluation of administration of regionalfixed assets to the inventory on The Financial and Asset Management Agency in PegununganBintang Regency has been carried out in accordance with mandated regulations. This can be seenfrom the evidence of inventory execution such as the existence of recording documents, theDatabase of Inventory, and documented in Inventories Books. In addition, there are reportingdocuments such as List of Inventory Recapitulation and List of inventory Mutations. Evaluation ofadministration of regional fixed assets in terms of reporting to The Financial and AssetManagement Agency in Pegunungan Bintang Regency is carried out in stages based on informationcontained in the list of assets keepers and a list of the authority of its users and keepers. Authoritiesof fixed assets users have to submit assets User Reports every semester, yearly, and 5 years toassets keepers.
