Indonesian language learning in schools is directed at improving students’ language skills, bothin the aspects of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Speaking is one of the language skillsthat is vulnerable in relation to spoken ethics. Language ethics is defined as a normative rule oflanguage use which becomes a general guideline agreed by the language user community thatsuch a method is recognized as a language that is polite, respectful, and in accordance with thevalues that apply in society. Someone who is skilled at speaking must consider what will be saidbefore speaking. It is not wrong if the saying goes that language is someone’s personal mirror. The phrase shows that a person’s personality can be judged by his speech in language. Formany people, good words, gentle, polite, will portray someone as a good person and virtuouscharacter. Conversely, rude and bad words will also cause a bad image in the person. On thatbasis, Indonesian speech ethics has an important role in learning in schools which also contributes to the student’s character education curriculum.

Abstract. Mandarin is one of the most widely used languages in the world. During the learning process, mother language sometimes influences second language learning. Therefore it is necessary to compare the rules of linguistic or comparative linguistics. This study uses a qualitative description method. The word "yang" in Indonesian has a function similar to the de 的 particle in Mandarin. The similarities, that is, has a function as a link between the core word and the attributive word which also describes the characteristics, nature, emphasis. In Mandarin the de-particle is behind the attributive word, while the Indonesian word "yang" is in front of the attributive word. Not all the words de 的 can be commensurate with the word "yang", the word de 的 can be translated or matched with several words in Indonesian depending on the meaning and function, such as "buatan", "ciptaan", "milik".

The scientific approach (observing, questioning, associating, experimenting and networking) employed in the 2013 curriculum requires students to not only master, experiment and create concepts but also to communicate results of analysis, findings or products to other students/parties. Indonesian teaching, therefore, is oriented not only for mastery of grammatical competence but also sociolinguistic, discourse ad strategic competences. To acquire such competences, an appropriate teaching strategy is called for. One such strategy is the so-called the language learning strategy, which refers to specific actions carried out by students to make learning easier, faster, more enjoyable, more independent, more effective and more directed towards new situations. This strategy includes memory, cognitive, compensation, metacognitive, affective and social strategies.

Education functions as an accelerator for such advancements so that itrequires ideal programs. Subject matter teachers are expected to be able to understand andimplement such programs in order to attain the advancements. However, in practice, thereare a lot of constraints. Some constraints concern the human resources and this results ineducation of low quality. Such constraints can be overcome through a policy and strategyfocusing on decentralization and autonomy in education. It is necessary to improve teacherprofessionalism by eliminating obstacles through teacher trainings to get rid of personal, economic, structural, social, and cultural constraints. To do so, it needs the government’spolitical will, teacher commitment, and society involvement. Keywords: improvement, professionalism
