Quantitative analysis is a significant feature of criminological research. This chapter discusses quantitative methods of analysis in which statistical tests are used to describe data and to draw inferences from the data. It covers the nature of quantitative data; types of variable; univariate analysis; bivariate analysis; statistical significance; and multivariate analysis. It also includes examples of using SPSS to generate statistics and perform tests on data.

The current Research aims at figuring out relationships between performance (as measured by ROE and PM) and demographics, interest in scanning, kinds of scanning, scanning frequency, sources of scanning (impersonal and personal), and obstacles of scanning. Experiences of 292 UAE executives have been used to fulfill these objectives. Via SPSS package release ten and seventeen, multivariate analysis (e.g. Multiple Regression), bivariate analysis (e.g. WSRT), and univariate analysis (e.g. descriptive analysis like mean, percentage, and sum) were conducted to explore the network of relationships amongst variables. Significant relationships between performance (as measured ROE) and interest in scanning, scanning frequency, sources of scanning (impersonal), and obstacles of scanning are existed. Significant relationships between performance (as measured by PM) and interest in scanning, scanning frequency, sources of scanning (personal), and sources of scanning (impersonal) are also existed. Finally, the current study revealed that UAE businesses are conducting regular, proactive, and hoc scanning more often than irregular, reactive, and primitive scanning.

Hyperbilirubinemia is one of the clinical phenomena most often found in neonates occurring in the first week of life, which is also one of the factors causing infant death is influenced by the immature liver function of the baby to process erythrocytes (red blood cells), resulting in the accumulation of bilirubin. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of birth weight of infants with the incidence of hyperbilirubinemia in RSUD dr. Ibnu Soetowo Baturaja Ogan Komering Ulu Regency in 2019. This study uses analytic methods with a cross-sectional approach. The study population was all infants aged 0-7 days in the neonatal room at RSUD dr. Ibnu Soetowo Baturaja Ogan Komering Ulu Regency in 2019, with a random sampling. Data analysis uses univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using distribution tables and Chi-Square statistical tests, with a 95% confidence level. In the univariate analysis, of 203 respondents found 26.5% had hyperbilirubinemia and those without hyperbilirubinemia 72.5%, 24.6% of infants with LBW and non-LBW infants 75.4%. Bivariate analysis showed that there was an LBW relationship with the incidence of hyperbilirubinemia (p-value 0,000).

<span lang="IN">Determinant of the selection of long-term contraceptive methods on family planning acceptors in Pedamaran community health center. </span><span lang="EN"> The population problem faced by Indonesia is a large population with a low quality of life. Uncontrolled population rate will cause baby booming so information needs to be disseminated about the benefits of family planning (FP). Long-term contraceptive method has a high level of effectiveness and can reduce the rate of population growth. </span><span lang="EN">This study aim to determine the factors that affect the selection of long-term contraceptive methods in active family planning acceptors.</span><span lang="EN">This study used a cross-sectional study design and using</span><span lang="IN"> simple random sampling</span><span lang="EN"> technique, consisted of 243 acceptors. Analyzes of data were univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using chi-square test with α = 0.05 and 95% confidence interval value, and multivariate analysis using binary logistic regression.</span><span lang="EN">Based on multivariate analysis was the variables significantly related to the selection of long-acting contraception include </span><span lang="IN">age (p = 0.01; OR = 2,24; 95% CI: 1,17-4,29), education (p = 0.01; OR = 0,31; 95% CI: 0,13-0,75) and number of children (p = 0.03; OR = 2; 95% CI: 1,05-3,81).</span><span lang="EN"> Thus, age was the variable that had the greatest impact on determining the selection of long-acting contraception.</span><span lang="IN">The </span><span lang="EN">acceptors with ≥ 35 years old, low educated and have &gt;2 children more likely to choose long-acting contraception. It is hoped that family planning workers can educate and persuade people of all ages with </span><span lang="IN">different educational backgrounds so total fertility rate can be reduce.</span>

In this paper we develop a multivariate analysis of length and age at maturity that includes the univariate maturity model of Schnute and Richards (1990, Can. J. Fish. Aquat. Sci. 47: 24–40) as a special case. In addition, we address the problem of drawing meaningful conclusions from large data sets oriented to fish maturity, and we present statistical tests of such conclusions. We illustrate our approach with comparisons among male and female lingcod (Ophiodon elongatus) from three stocks along the coast of British Columbia, Canada. From the univariate analysis, we demonstrate that male lingcod mature at a smaller size than female lingcod, and that for each sex, size at maturity increases with latitude. From the multivariate analysis, we determine that length and age together provide a better prediction of lingcod maturation than either variate considered alone. The multivariate model is applicable to any situation for which one or more positive variates is asymptotically related to a probability measure in the range (0, 1).

Abstract Introduction: Myelodysplastic syndrome with del5q (MDSdel5q) is the only cytogenetically defined MDS category recognized by WHO in 2001, 2008 and 2016 and is defined as a MDS with deletion on the long arm of chromosome 5 and less than 5% of blast cells in bone marrow. It is known that for patients with MDSdel5q and transfusion dependence (TD), Len (LEN) is the first choice of treatment. However, data regarding factors that may impact on the development of TD or disease evolution in patients diagnosed without TD are scanty. In our study a retrospective multicenter analysis on patients with low-int 1 MDSdel5q without TD at diagnosis has been performed in order to answer these questions. Patients and methods: We performed a multicenter collaborative research from the Spanish (RESMD) and German MDS registries. Data from 153 low risk MDSdel5q without TD at diagnosis were retrospectively analyzed. Statistical analysis: Data were summarized using median, range, and percentage. The event of TD was defined as the development of TD according to the IWG criteria (2006) and/or the beginning of a treatment which could modify disease course (LEN or ESA). Transfusion or treatment free survival (TFS), overall survival (OS) and leukemia free survival (LFS) were measured from diagnosis to TD or treatment, the first occurred (or to last follow up if none), last follow up or death from any cause and evolution to AML, respectively. TFS, OS and LFS were analyzed using the Kaplan Ð Meier method. The Log-rank test was used to compare variables and their impact on survival for univariate analysis.Multivariate analysis was performed using Cox's proportional hazards regression model. For comparison of Kaplan Meier curves the long rank test was used, with statistical significance with p<0.05. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 20.0. Results: Main clinical and biological characteristics were summarizing in table 1. From the total of 153 patients, finally 121 were evaluable. During the study 56 patients (46.2%) became in TD and 47 (38.8%) did not develop TD but received a modified disease course treatment. In this sense, most of the patients developed relevant anemia regarding those data (103 out of 121 patients, 85%). Median time to TD or treatment (TFS) was 20 months (1-132) from diagnosis. Secondary MDS (p=0.02), thrombocytosis (>350 109/L) (p=0.007), and neutropenia (<1.5 x 109/L) (p=0.02) were associated with poorer TFS. Thrombocytosis and neutropenia retained statistical significance in the multivariate analysis (Table 2). Among the TD patients (N=56), 42 (75%) received treatment: 28 LEN, 7 ESA and 7 other treatments. Among patients that did not develop TD (N=65), 47 (72.3%) received treatment before TD development: 16 LEN, 28 ESA and 3 other treatments. In order to know the evolution of these patients, survival analysis was performed. Median follow up was 58.9 months among alive patients and 57% of them were alive at the time of the last follow up. Estimated OS at 2 and 5 years was 94% and 64%. Regarding Univariate analysis, platelet <100 x 109/L (p=0.03), patients older than 71 years (p=0.001), and progression into AML (p=0.02) were associated with poorer OS. On the contrary, patients who had received treatment showed better OS (p<0.0001). This benefit is more evident among patients receiving LEN, median OS for patients receiving LEN, ESA/other treatments and not treated group was 137 months (CI 95%: 59,4 -215,5), 99,3 months (CI 95%: 46,6 -152) and 57,9 months (CI 95%: 38,2 -77,6), respectively, p<0.0001 (Figure 1). In the multivariate analysis, patients older than 71 years and LEN treatment retained the statistical significant impact on OS (Table 2). Twenty-eight patients (23%) progressed into AML, median time to AML was 35 months (5-122). When univariate analysis was performed, variables with adverse impact on LFS were platelets <100 x 109/L(p=0.019), neutropenia < 0.8 x 109/L (p=0.026), an additional cytogenetic abnormality (p=0.013) while treatment with LEN had a favorable impact (p=0.035). In the multivariate analysis only the presence of additional cytogenetic abnormalities retained statistical significance (Table 2). CONCLUSIONS: Most of the patients with low risk del(5q) MDS and no TD at diagnosis developed symptomatic anemia very early after diagnosis (20 months). Carefully monitoring should be stablished in order to detect this time point. Outcome of this subset of patients could improve after target therapy. Figure 1 Figure 1. 3573 Background: Preop chemoradiotherapy (CRT) with CI 5-FU is a standard of care for LAR cancer. Oral fluoropyrimidines, an attractive alternative to intravenous 5-FU, are perceived by patients as more convenient. Methods: We performed a phase II study in patients with potentially resectable tumors, localized in middle or distal rectum, ultrasonographically staged as T3 or T4 or N+ who were treated with UFT (400 mg/m2/d, 5 days a week for 5 weeks) and concomitant RT to the pelvis (45 Gy; 1.8 Gy/d over 5 weeks). Pts underwent surgery 5 to 6 weeks later followed by four cycles of 5-FU/LV (Mayo Clinic Scheme). Early end points of efficacy (pCR, downstaging, sphincter preserving surgery) and toxicity have already been reported (JCO 2004;22:3016). We now present data on secondary objectives (RFS, DFS and OS) and univariate and multivariate analysis of clinical and pathological PF. Results: 94 patients were included and complete information on 88 (94%) is availablewith a median follow-up of 5 years (60.4 months). Actuarial Kaplan-Meier DFS, RFS and OS are 61%, 66%, and 70 %. Patterns of failure are 7% pelvic and 25% distant. Univariate analysis results are shown in the table . Survival rate was also higher among patients with no or few residual disease after CRT but did not reach statistical significance. In Cox multivariate analysis both ypT and ypN are independent PF for DFS and RFS but only ypT is an independent PF for OS. Conclusions: This approach with preop UFT/RT reproduces the results that have been accomplished with 5-FU. ypT and ypN could be helpful to identify different risk groups and to select adjuvant treatments. 21097 Background: Although breast caner patients with any one of the two sex hormone receptors positive can be treated with endocrine therapy, many clinical data showed that there was different response to endocrine therapy for patients with ER+/PR+ and with ER+/PR- tumors. The aim of this study was to find out the factors related to PR expression by comparing the ER+/PR+ tumors and ER+/PR- tumors clinically and biologically. Methods: Between January 1990 to August 2006, 5,191 female breast cancer patients with known ER/PR expression status who received operation in our hospital were enrolled onto this retrospective study. Clinical and biological features of 2,227 patients with ER+/PR+ tumors were compared with those of 909 patients with ER+/PR- tumors. χ2 test was used for univariate analysis and logistic regression for multivariate analysis. Disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) was calculated using Kaplan-Meier analyses, and all statistical tests were two-sided. Results: The peak onset age of patients with ER+/PR+ tumors and ER+/PR- tumors was 50, and it was significantly higher than that of patients with ER- tumors, which is 48(P=0.001). Univariate analysis showed that ER+/PR- tumors were larger in size, had more lymph nodes of metastasis, were higher in tumor grade than ER+/PR+ tumors. Furthermore, the expression of ER and CathepsinD was significantly lower, and CerbB-2 expression was higher in ER+/PR- tumors than in ER+/PR+ tumors. Multivariate analysis indicated that positive PR expression was associated with the level of ER(OR=1.792, P=0.000), CathepsinD(OR=1.380, P=0.035)and CerbB-2(OR=0.639, P=0.007). DFS(P=0.004) and OS(P=0.009) were higher among patients with PR-expressing tumors than with PR- negative tumors. Conclusions: ER+/PR+ tumors and ER+/PR- tumors may have the same etiology which is different from that of ER- tumors. Because of low ER level and changes of the expression of CerbB-2 and CathepsinD, the tumors that lacked PR expression display more aggressive features and have worse prognosis. According to these differences, new target of therapy and endocrine regimen may provide the possibility of improving the response and prognosis of endocrine therapy for patients with ER+/PR- tumors. Introduction. The aim of our work was to investigate the causal connection between M1 and M2 macrophage phenotypes occurrence and prostate cancer, their correlation with tumor extension (ECE), and biochemical recurrence (BR).Patient and Methods. Clinical and pathological data were prospectively gathered from 93 patients treated with radical prostatectomy. Correlations of commonly used variables were evaluated with uni- and multivariate analysis. The relationship between M1 and M2 occurrence and BR was also assessed with Kaplan-Meier survival analysis.Results. Above all in 63.4% there was a M2 prevalence. M1 occurred more frequently in OC disease, while M2 was more represented in ECE. At univariate analysis biopsy and pathologic GS and M2 were statistically correlated with ECE. Only pathologic GS and M2 confirmed to be correlated with ECE. According to macrophage density BCR free survival curves presented a statistically significant difference. When we stratified our population for M1 and M2,we did not find any statistical difference among curves. At univariate analysis GS, pTNM, and positive margins resulted to be significant predictors of BCR, while M1 and M2 did not achieve the statistical significance. At multivariate analysis, only GS and pathologic stage were independent predictors of BR.Conclusion. In our study patients with higher density of M count were associated with poor prognosis; M2 phenotype was significantly associated with ECE.

Adolescence (adolence) is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood with the age limit of 10 to 18 years or before marriage which generally occurs in puberty, namely the process of changes in physical maturity. Physical or biological changes in young women are starting to experience menstruation. One complaint that usually occurs in women who are menstruating is dysmenorrhea . One way that can be done to reduce pain is by relaxation (guided imagery). This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of guided imagery relaxation therapy by decreasing the level of pain in primary dysmenorrhea in diploma of midwefery. The type of method used is quasy experiment with approach one group pre-post test design. The sampling method with probability sampling with a total sample of 51 respondents. The instrument used is NRS (numeral rating scal ) and SOP of guided imageryrelaxation therapy. The type of univariate analysis used frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using paired t test analysis. The results of this study indicate that guided imagery relaxation therapy is effective in reducing the scale of menstrual pain ( dysmenorrhea ) in diploma of midwefery, the results of statistical tests using the Wilcoxon test obtained with a significant value of p-value (2-tailed) 0,000 (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant effect of guided imagery relaxation therapy on decreasing the level of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) in adolescent girls. Based on the above research, guided imagery relaxation therapy can be applied as one of the non-pharmacological pain management during menstruation (dysmenorrhea).

Sehezar area is located in southern Tonokabon in Mazandaran province, north of Iran, near the Tarom &ndash; Hashdtjin belt. The existence of granitoid masses in the region can be important in terms of the potential of mineralization. Geochemical anomaly separation from the background is one of the important steps in mineral exploration. In the past decades, geochemical anomalies have been identified by means of various methods. Some of these separation methods include: statistical analysis methods (like univariate, bivariate, multivariate statistics), spatial statistical methods and fractal and multi-fractal methods. To identify the anomalous area, 71 stream sediment samples were collected from the area and analyzed by the ICP-MS method, and then interpreted. Initially, data were normalized and afterwards, univariate analysis (threshold limit and screening (P.N) methods) was used, in which results of the probable and definite anomaly of the threshold method were confirmed by the P.N screening method. Finally, the maps of the anomal zones were drawn. Then, bivariate analysis (Pearson correlation coefficients) and multivariate analysis on normal data were performed on SPSS software, in which factor analysis and cluster analysis were used for multivariate analysis. As a result of using the factor analysis method, six factors were identified and factor maps were drawn by the Surfer software. Also, by using cluster analysis, the variables were divided into two groups. In order for a better separation of the geochemical anomaly from the background, in addition to the threshold method, the Concentration - Area fractal method was used. Here, the fractal geometry using full-logarithmic graphs of the Concentration - Area obtained is capable of separating the stairs of different sections (background, threshold, and anomaly) with respect to the angle coefficient of the Concentration - Area plot. Then, in conclusion, results of these methods were compared and investigated, and finally, the anomalies area maps of the Au, Ag, Cu, Fe, W elements were drawn by Concentration - Area fractal and threshold methods and anomalous zones were introduced.
