Phyllanthus niruri L. is known to promote hair growth. Menthol is one of the enhancers which promotes drug penetration into the skin. The aim of this research is to determine the potential of menthol in P. niruri Ethanol Extracts gel preparation as a hair growth promoter. The test animals were randomized into 4 groups: normal group, negative control (gel without extract and menthol), E1 group (Ethanol Extracts of P. niruri 5% gel without menthol) and E2 group (Ethanol Extracts of P. niruri 5% gel with menthol). Hair growth activity test was conducted by applying the gel on the rats’ back, and hair length was measured on the 7th, 14th and 21st days, while the hair was weighed on the 21st day. The results showed that the E2 group had an average hair length and hair weight of 12.45±3.457 mm and hair weight of 28.53±7.681 mg, greater than the E1 group of 10.67±2.455 mm and 19.87±9.552 mg respectively. Based on these results, it can be concluded that adding menthol in P. niruri Ethanol Extract gel preparation can influence hair growth and thickness.

AbstractHair loss is a disorder or disorder of hair apart from the scalp or body skin so that it interferes with various biological functions of hair on the body. Types of hair care cosmetic that is effective in dealing with hair loss are hair tonic. Hair tonic is a preparation for the treatment of the scalp and hair. Bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides L.) is used by the public as medicine and hair care. The purpose of this study was to determine the formulation of hair tonic preparations from the ethanol extract of bandotan leaves according to the requirements and hair growth activity of local male rabbits. The extraction method used the maceration method with 96% ethanol and applied hair tonic extract of bandotan leaves on the skin of local male rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) which were treated as blanks without smearing, positive control (Natur), negative control hair tonic base, concentration bandotan leaf extract. (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) for 21 days. The data obtained in the form of hair length, and hair weight. Analysis of the data obtained for hair growth activity was seen from the results of the ANOVA test and continued with the BNT test (Least Significance Different). The results of the research for evaluating hair tonic preparations included organoleptic tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, specific gravity tests, and cycling tests. Hair tonic ethanol extract of bandotan leaves has hair growth activity. Hair tonic ethanol extract of bandotan leaves with a concentration of 20% had the highest hair length and hair weight. From the results of one way ANOVA, a significant value was obtained 0.000 < 0.005, so it was concluded that there was a significant difference between treatments, and continued with the BNT test (Least Significance Different) positive control was not significantly different from hair tonic concentration of 20%.Keywords: Bandotan leaves, Hair tonic, Hair growth AbstrakKerontokan rambut adalah suatu gangguan atau kelainan rambut terlepas dari kulit kepala atau kulit tubuh sehingga mengganggu berbagai fungsi biologis rambut terhadap tubuh. Jenis kosmetik perawatan rambut yang efektif mengatasi rambut rontok adalah hair tonic. Hair tonic adalah sediaan untuk perawatan kulit kepala dan rambut. Bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides L.) digunakan oleh masyarakat sebagai obat dan perawatan rambut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini mengetahui formulasi sediaan hair tonic dari ekstrak etanol daun bandotan yang sesuai dengan persyaratan dan aktivitas pertumbuhan rambut pada kelinci jantan lokal. Metode ekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan etanol 96% dan dilakukan pengolesan hair tonic ekstrak daun bandotan pada kulit kelinci jantan lokal (Oryctolagus cuniculus) yang diberikan perlakuan sebagai blanko tanpa pengolesan, kontrol positif (Natur), kontrol negatif basis hair tonic, ekstrak daun bandotan konsentrasi (5%,10%,15% dan 20%) selama 21 hari. Data yang diperoleh berupa panjang rambut, dan bobot rambut. Analisa data yang diperoleh untuk aktivitas pertumbuhan rambut dilihat dari hasil uji ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji BNT (Beda Nyata Terkecil). Hasil penelitian untuk evaluasi sediaan hair tonic antara lain uji organoleptis, uji pH, uji viskositas, uji bobot jenis, dan uji cycling test. Hair tonic ekstrak etanol daun bandotan memiliki aktivitas pertumbuhan rambut. Hair tonic ekstrak etanol daun bandotan dengan konsentrasi 20% memiliki panjang rambut dan bobot rambut tertinggi. Dari hasil one way ANOVA didapatkan nilai signifikan 0,000 < 0,005 sehingga disimpulkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antar perlakuan, dan dilanjutkan uji BNT (Beda Nyata Terkecil) didapatkan kontrol positif tidak berbeda nyata dengan hair tonic konsentrasi 20%.Kata kunci : Daun bandotan; Hair tonic; Pertumbuhan rambut

Moringa (moringa oleifera Lam) leaves contains many molecules as inhibitors for free radicals such as phenolic compounds (phenolic acids, flavonoids, quinones, coumarins, lignans, stilbenes, tannins), nitrogen compounds (alkaloids, amines, betalain), vitamins, terpenoids (including carotenoids), and several other endogenous metabolites as antioxidants. This study aimed to determine the antioxidant potency of water and ethanol extracts of moringa (moringa oleifera Lam) leave obtained by maceration and dekok. The concentration of free radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) was analyzed using UV-Vis spectrophotometer after addition of various concentrations of Moringa leaves extracts. Various concentrations of moringa leave extracts used were 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm and 80 ppm. Vitamin C solutions as the positive control were prepared on similar various concentrations. The negative control was prepared using DPPH solutions dissolved in absolute ethanol. The results indicated that the ethanol extract of moringa leaves prepared by maceration method showed the antioxidant potency with an IC50 value of 22.1818 ppm, but the IC50 value of water extract of moringa leaves prepared by dekok was 57.5439 ppm. While, the IC50 value of Vitamin C was 8.8084 ppm. Based on the IC50 data it can be concluded that Vitamin C is a stronger antioxidant than moringa leaves extracts.

PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK ETANOL KEMBANG SEPATU (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) TERHADAP JUMLAH SPERMATOZOA, BERAT BADAN, DAN       BERAT TESTIS TIKUS JANTAN WISTAR (Rattus norvegicus)ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol kembang sepatu terhadap jumlah spermatozoa tikus jantan wistar (Rattus norvegicus). Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan menggunakan 24 ekor tikus putih jantan galur wistar (Rattus norvegicus) yang dibagi atas beberapa kelompok dimana kelompok 1 sebagai kelompok kontrol tanpa perlakuan, kelompok 2, 3 dan 4 sebagai kelompok perlakuan dengan dosis secara berturut-turut 3,6 mg/ml; 7,2 mg/ml; dan 14,4 mg/ml. Perlakuan diberikan secara oral sekali sehari sebanyak 1 ml selama 50 hari sesuai siklus spermatogenesis. Variabel yang diamati yakni jumlah sel spermatozoa, berat badan, dan berat testis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol kembang sepatu dapat menurunkan jumlah sel spermatozoa, serta menyebabkan adanya perbedaan berat badan dan berat testis namun, berdasarkan hasil analisis varians, ekstrak etanol daun kembang sepatu tidak dapat menurunkan jumlah sel spermatozoa, berat badan dan berat testis tikus putih jantan galur wistar (Rattus norvegicus) secara signifikan.Kata Kunci: Sel spermatozoa, Kembang sepatu (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.),                    Tikus jantan Wistar (Rattus novergicus) THE INFLUENCE OF THE ETHANOL EXTRACTS  OF GRANTING HIBISCUS (Hibiscus Rosa-sinensis L.) AGAINST THE NUMBER OF SPERMATOZOA, WEIGHT AND THE WEIGHT OF THE TESTES MALE WISTAR RATS (Rattus norvegicus) ABSTRACTThis research’s objective is to know the influence of injecting ethanol extract from a hibiscus into a number of common male rats (Rattus norvegicus). This research uses the approach of complete randomized design (CRD) onto 24 common white rats (Rattus norvegicus) that is divided into groups, where group 1’s approach is control without treatment, groups 2, 3, and 4’s approach is with treatment, with consecutive doses being 3.6 mg/ml; 7.2 mg/ml; and 14.4 mg/ml.  The treatment is induced orally as large as 1cc per day for a total of 50 days following the spermatogenesis cycle. The variables that are being observed are the amount of spermatozoon cells, body weight, and testicle weight. The results of this research indicates that ethanol extract from hibiscuses, from a quantity perspective, can decrease spermatozoon cells, and it may also influence the body weight and testicle weight of the subject, in this case are common rats (Rattus norvegicus) but, from the mathematical results from Analysis Of Variance, ethanol extract from the leaves of a hibiscus cannot decrease the amount of spermatozoon, body weight, and testicle weight  of a common white rat (Rattus norvegicus).Keywords: Spermatozoon Cells, Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.), Common (white) rat (Rattus novergicus)

Preparation stimulating hair growth (hair tonic) is cosmetic preparations used for volumizing hair growth or stimulate hair growth on balding or hair loss. This research aims to formulate hair tonic preparation of extract Nothopanax scutellarium and determine the effect of dosage formulation hair tonic N. scutellarium towards the growth of male rabbit. This research makes five sample formula with active ingredients extract N. scutellarium with concentration 0% (basic hair tonic), 25%, 35%, 45% and positive control (hair tonic preparations containing minoxidil). The treatment is done every day with the volume every time the basting of one mili liter each plot every day for twenty one days. Hair Length measurements performed on days 8 th , 15 th and 22 nd using calipers and the hair weight measurements performed on day 22 by way of shaved hair grows and then weighed. Data were analyzed using ANOVA test. The data length and weight of the negative control hair, formula-A (25%), formula-B (35%), formula-C (45%) and positive control at day 22 in a row is 11.56, 16.19, 14.60, 14.10, 18.58 mm and 387.325, 390.85, 386.9, 387.275, 392.1 mg. This study aims to determine the potential for glucose levels in the blood of ethanol extracts of the begonias (Begonia Sp.), the effect of the extract on the pancreatic histopathology of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) which was induced by streptozotocin, and the effective dose begonias’ extract leaves on the histopathological descriptions of pancreatic male white rats. This study was an experimental laboratory where the research group consisted of group I (the control group) as a normal control was given a standard feed, group II (negative control) was given a 0.5% Na CMC suspension, group III (positive control) was orally given glibenclamide and experimental groups IV, V, and VI (doses 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg BW). Were given ethanol extract of begonias leaves. The results showed that the ethanol extract of the begonias (Begonia Sp.) contained secondary metabolite compounds, namely flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, polyphenols, and tannins. Ethanol extract of begonias leaves at adose of 50 mg/kg BW was an affective dose in reducing blood glucoselevels by an avarage of 101,8 mg/dL) and a dose of 50 mg/kg BW can affect the histopathological picture of the pancreas in STZ induuced rats with an average damage value of 2 from a maximum of 4.

One of the commonly used chemotherapy drugs is cyclophosphamide. However, the use of cyclophosphamide can provide various toxic effects. The most common toxic effect of cyclophosphamide is bone marrow suppression with anemia as one of its markers. The antioxidant content of cainito leaf potentially increase the production of blood cells, especially erythrocytes. The aims of this study is determining the effectiveness of the cainito leaf ethanol extract against cyclophosphamide induced mouse erythrocyte count in vivo. A sample of 20 male wistar rats was divided into five groups; normal group, negative control group, and three groups of ethanol extract of cainito leaf with dose 100 mg/kgBW, 200 mg/kgBW, and 400 mg/kgBW were administered for one week followed by intraperitoneal cyclophosphamide with dose 50 mg/kgBW as much as one time. One Way Anova Test result showed a significance of 0.015 (p<0.05). However, the LSD test results showed no significant different results between the negative control group and the treatment group. The conclusion was that there was no difference in the amount of erythrocytes in mice given only cyclophosphamide with previous rats given cainito extract.

The aim of this research is to know the ability of meniran ethanol extract (Phyllanthus niruri L.) in inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans. The research design is an experimental study. The extract used was herbal meniran extract made by maceration using 70% ethanol solvent, the content of ethanol extract of meniran tested against Candida albicans using disc diffusion method were 5%, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%. Activity test conducted on Sabaraound Dextrose agar media that has been smeared with Candida albicans culture which has been standardized with Mc Farland standard. The pre-tested disc paper is first dipped into the extract with various concentrations. Incubated at 30 ° C for 24 hours and the inhibit zone formed was measured. The result showed that herbal ethanol extract of meniran resulted in drag zone diameter at Candida albicans ie 8,5 mm; 10.3 mm; 12.6 mm; 14.1 mm and 14.3 mm, for negative control 0 mm and positive control 20.1 mm. Data obtained from the results of the study were analyzed using one way anova method showed p - value <0,05, it was concluded that there was significant difference between negative control, 5%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and positive control.

Constipation is a symptom of a problematic, non-smooth and irregular defecation process. While laxative is a substance that stimulates intestinal peristalsis as a reflex of direct stimulation of the intestinal wall that can cause or facilitate defecation. This study aimed to determine the ethanol extract of the leaves of Gynura procumbens (L.) Merr. effect as a laxative in white male mice induced by loperamide. The methods used for laxative testing are defecation patterns and intestinal transit methods. The parameters observed included frequency of defecation, stool consistency, stool weight every 30 minutes for 4 hours, and the length of the activated carbon in the mice's intestine. The extract was administered orally at a dose of 75 mg/kg BW, 150 mg/kg BW and 300 mg/kg BW, as a comparison used negative control (Na CMC). From the results of the study, it was found that the administration of ethanol extracts of Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr. leaves at the dose of 150 mg/kg BW gave laxative activity to white male mice (P <0.05).

 Objectives: To analyze the effectiveness of the topical application of a standardized ethanol extract of roselle calyx in the treatment of oral mucous ulceration.Methods: Twelve Sprague Dawley rats were divided into two groups, with oral mucous ulcer being induced in all the rats. The ulcer diameter, reddish color, and the swollen membrane around the ulcer, as well as the inflammation score of the ulcer, were recorded for all animals. The negative control group was treated with aquades, while the positive control group was treated with 0.1% triamcinolone acetonide. The treatment group received the topical application of 7.5% and 15% standardized ethanol extract of roselle calyx twice a day for 3 or 7 days. On the 4th day, six rats were sacrificed, while the remaining six rats continued to receive treatment as before. On the 8th day, all the rats were sacrificed. Specimens were fixed, and histology slides were made. Further, microscopic slides were observed and scored.Result: Both the 7.5% and 15% standardized ethanol extracts of roselle calyx were found to reduce the ulcer diameter and inflammation score. No swelling or redness was observed.Conclusions: The application of 7.5% standardized ethanol extract of roselle calyx for 7 days is equally as effective as the application of 0.1% triamcinolone acetonides, except in terms of the decrease in the inflammation score.
