Abstract Previous work focusing on the relationship between Internet use and quality of life among older adults (aged 65+) has found evidence of various positive impacts. This project expands upon this work by examining the relationship between Internet use and measures of psychological well-being (PWB) including autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relations with others, purpose in life, and self-acceptance. The analytic sample is derived from two waves of data (Time 1 = 2004, Time 2 = 2011) taken from the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study and includes a sample of older adults aged~65 at Time 1 (N = 4943). Participants were separated into four categories: those who did not use the Internet at Time 1 or 2, those who used the Internet at Time 1 only, those who used the Internet at Time 2 only, and those who used the Internet at both Time 1 and 2. Regression analyses were performed with the Time 2 PWB measures as the outcomes and the Internet use categories as the primary predictors. Results indicate that while continuous Internet users typically reported higher PWB scores compared to non-users, those who stopped use between Time 1 and 2 also reported higher scores and those who started use between Time 1 and 2 reported lower scores. These results generally held when introducing Time 1 PWB measures as controls, suggesting changes in Internet use may affect PWB but not necessarily in the predicted directions. Additional control variables, potential explanations, and implications for future research are discussed.

At the present stage of society's development, there is an increasing need for highly qualified specialists who are ready for continuous updating of knowledge and skills, solving research problems in their professional activities. In this regard, one of the important tasks of the implementation of educational programs is the achievement of a high level of research competence by graduates. Teaching mathematics opens up unlimited opportunities for the development of the intellectual sphere and research skills of schoolchildren. However, the insufficient development of pedagogical technologies focused on the implementation of psychodidactic patterns of research activity development is a negative factor that prevents the realization of the developing potential of mathematical disciplines. The article presents the author's approach to the organization of research activities of high school students, based on the idea of integrating the process of educational cognition and modern digital technologies. As a key aspect of personal development in teaching mathematics, we consider the activity of mastering complex knowledge in the course of performing ordered, forming a single motivational and applied integrity of the complex tasks of a research nature, in the process of which there is an active mastery of knowledge, deeper penetration into the essence of mathematical concepts, methods, ideas. At the same time, intelligent management of research activities of high school students is carried out within the framework of using the functionality of a hybrid learning environment that integrates the functions of artificial neural networks, genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic, expert systems, providing individualization of learning, synthesis of mathematical and computer modeling of the content of knowledge and procedures. The paper describes the content and functionality of the basic modules of the intellectual learning system, describes the theoretical, methodological, and technological aspects of the organization of research activities of high school students to master complex mathematical knowledge.

The Internet as a special space for political activity and political communication is becoming more and more attractive to political actors. The intensification of political activity on the Internet leads to the increase of researchers’ interest. One of the prominent areas of this research is the analysis of the efficiency of communication strategies used by politically oriented communities on the Internet. The results of such assessment contribute to, in particular, characterizing the level and features of the political engagement of Internet users into political processes. To study these processes, a telephone survey of residents of St. Petersburg was conducted. St. Petersburg was chosen because it is one of the largest cities in Russia with high Internet coverage and a high level of political activity compared to other regions. The results showed that politically oriented communities effectively implement primary communication strategies — information and presentation. More than two-thirds of politically active Internet users in St. Petersburg noted that visiting the relevant resources helped them to understand the political situation, to define their attitude toward parties, politicians, social movements and organizations. At the same time, the strategy of supporting political identification has not yet worked for the majority of users. Perhaps this is a consequence of the fact that the majority of St. Petersburg citizens have not yet found appropriate political leaders and organizations. The authors found that the majority of Internet users display an interest in politics permanently, and not only during the pre-election period. The hypothesis that one of the factors of an efficient strategy of politically oriented communities is emphasizing anti-power positions was confirmed. The survey results also confirmed the high level of opposition views among Internet users.

Digital inclusion has now become not only a matter of technological adoption, but the ability to use technologies where individuals are to possess necessary skills to make effective use of digital technologies. In this regard, digital literacy is seen as a crucial enabler for individuals to take advantage of digital opportunities as well as to engage in digital activities. Building on the importance of digital literacy, this study therefore attempts to assess the role of Internet usage and digital literacy on human development, which is proxied by the Human Development Index (HDI). Using a panel dataset covering 38 countries over a 4-year time span from 2015 to 2018, results of regression analysis indicate that both Internet usage and digital literacy emerge with significant and positive relationships with HDI. This evidence suggests that the high number of Internet users and high level of digital literacy are important means for promoting human development. Additional moderation analysis between Internet usage and digital literacy also produces a positive and significant interaction effect, which subsequently implies that digital literacy is an essential skill in enhancing effective usage of the Internet towards achieving greater socioeconomic well-being.

The article substantiates the relevance of a research devoted to the issues of medical education in the modern world associated with people’s desire to get high quality medical service. The authors focus on the development of medical students’ social and psychological readiness to vocational activities. One of the components of medical students’ vocational activities is reflection, which plays an essential role in the process of personality development, self-esteem, social and professional realization. Medical workers’ reflection is viewed in the context of the so called clinical thinking, special type of doctors’ professional thinking, a basis of doctors’ professional and personal development, self-improvement aimed at ensuring effective doctor-patient communication. The article presents the results of an experimental research aimed at measuring medical students’ reflection abilities. The researchers used A. V. Karpov and V. V. Ponomareva’s method to identify the general level of students’ reflection abilities and their ability of situational, retrospective, and perspective self-reflection and perception of other people’s inner world. They also employed the qualitative analysis of Me and My Career essays written by medical students. More than half of medical students show a high level of appreciation of professional activities. The authors believe that this can be accounted for by the fact that medical students annually participate in internship programs at National Research Mordovia State University named for N. P. Ogarev, which provides them with a perfect opportunity to appreciate the real pleasures and hardships of their future profession and ensures a better appreciation of such clinical disciplines as Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases, Inhospital Therapy, Inhospital Surgery, Infectious Diseases, etc.

The article determines modern marketing methods for promoting the products of domestic manufacturing enterprises. Marketing opportunities on the Internet are significantly higher than in other communication tools. Internet advertising enables domestic manufacturers to expand both the domestic sales market and provides access to foreign markets. An important advantage of the Internet for product promotion is the constant development of Internet technologies and the emergence of modern methods of promotion. Internet marketing has great potential in such parameters as reaching the target audience; questionnaires and surveys of the target audience; efficiency in obtaining results; high level of reliable results. The use of the Internet can significantly reduce the cost of promoting products on the market for domestic feed-producing enterprises, as the cost of advertising on the Internet is lower than in print media. The Internet allows the marketer to determine the profile of the target audience: gender, age, income, education and demands. The analysis of the main methods of promoting feed products on the Internet has been carried out, they are information search using search engines, search using thematic web servers, the practice of exchanging links between servers, marketing research of Internet users and others. A strategy has been developed to promote feed production of KKZ LLC on the Internet through the use of cookie files. Domestic manufacturers can use cookie files in order to avoid imposing the same advertisement on the user, and also allow to track the number of one type advertisements shown to the user. Promotion of feed products of KKZ LLC on the Internet is advisable to carry out using its own website; its optimization will increase the number of visitors from both highly specialized and general thematic social networks.
