The title of this research is “Shinju in Sonezaki Shinju and Shinju Ten no Amijima, Short Stories by Chikamatsu Monzaemon”. This research aims to examine the background factors of shinju and the author's view of shinju in the Sonezaki Shinju short story and Chikamatsu Monzaemon's Shinju Ten no Amijima short story. The method used in this research is a descriptive analysis method by Ratna (2015). The theory used in this research are the sociological theory of literature proposed by Wellek & Werren (1990), the author's worldview theory proposed by Goldmann in Faruk (2010) and suicide theory proposed by Emile Durkheim (1897). Based on the results of the analysis found three factors underlying the occurrence of the shinju phenomenon in the Sonezaki Shinju short story, such as 1) shinju as a form of rejection of custom marriage, 2) shinju as a way out of conflict between on, giri, and ninjo, and 3) shinju is a form of proof of love, while in Chikamatsu Monzaemon's Shinju Ten no Amijima short story there are three factors underlying the shinju phenomenon, such as 1) shinju as a form of implementation of giri, 2) shinju as a form of shame, and 3) shinju as a form of proof of love. From these factors there are also three authors' views about shinju itself, such as 1)shinju restores self-esteem, 2) shinju to remove shame, and 3) shinju as a union of love.

The journal entitled "Analysis of the Relationship between Reaching For The Sky Short Story and Genetic Structural Theory" aims to describe the genetic structuralistic relationship shown in the study of Reaching For The Sky short stories. This research uses descriptive analysis method by using literary sociology analysis techniques. Short Story Reaching For The Sky is an interesting to be chosen because it is thought to show the relationship between structuralism theory and social inequality.The results showed that the short story Reaching For The Sky by Mitchell Waldman is work that is full of criticism about social class inequality that occurs in Brooklyn, New York, USA. This short story besides carrying the theme of social class, can also be examined more deeply using the theory of Genetic Structuralism. This can be achieved because between the short story and the author, there is a very close relationship. Can be identified through the author's background and what is in the short story. Characters, settings, story lines, enough to represent the correlation of short stories, authors and theories that support the link between the short storyline and genetic structuralism. Among these are: facts of humanity, collective subjects, worldview, structuration and dialectics of understanding.

This research is titled “The Shichou Electoral System in Japan in the Kunimitsu no Matsuri Manga by Yuma Ando and Masashi Asaki”. This research aims to examine the shichou electoral system and election campaign which was held in Japan in the Kunimitsu no Matsuri Manga by Yuma Ando and Masashi Asaki. The method used in this research is a descriptive analysis method by Ratna (2015). The theories used in this research are the sociological theory of literature proposed by Wellek & Werren (1990), semiotics theory by Hoed (2014) and Ricæur (in Hoed, 2014), Public Office Election Law Number 100 in 1947. Based on the result of the analysis found the shichou electoral system is divided into 1) candidate qualifications in shichou election; 2) voter qualifications in shichou election; 3) the procedure for shichou election. Citizens who have qualified to become candidates in the shichou election will do campaign to win the election. The election campaign is divided into 1) implementation of election campaign; 2) ban in election campaign; 3) the media used in the election campaign.

This study aimed to describe the social and political conflicts contained in the collection of short stories Drama Tells Too far work of Puthut EA and to describe thecorrelation between the short story collection The play was a story Too far work of PuthutEA with reality night history of Indonesian society. Sources of data in this study is the textcontained in the collection of short stories Drama Tells Too far work of Puthut EA. Whilethe research data is an excerpt sentence, description, dialogue, and other important mattersin the collection of short stories Drama Tells Too far work of Puthut EA. Data obtained byreading and writing techniques. Data were analyzed with the approach of sociology ofliterature and descriptive analysis techniques. The validity of the data obtained byconducting triangulation is triangualasi methods, sources of data and theory. These resultsindicate the existence of social and political conflict are contained in the collection of shortstories Drama Tells Too Far work of Puthut EA, containing social conflicts, among others:(1) gender conflict, namely: the oppression of women, (2) racial conflict, namely:discrimination of race Chinese, (3) inter-religious conflicts, namely: distrust ofcommunism, (4) conflict of interest, namely: the imposition of a leader, (5) interpersonal conflicts, namely: distrust of others, (6) the conflict between social classes, namely: socialinequality. Containing the political conflict, among others: (1) the weapons of battle and (2)the strategy politik. Correlation between the short story collection That play was a storyToo Far of Puthut EA works with historical reality of Indonesian society, among others: (1)The 1998 riots (2) The increase in fuel (3) Ethnic Discrimination (4) Dispute people of thesame religion (5) arrest Without Accompanied Official Letter (6) Violations of humanrights and (7) Poverty.

The study aims to determine the moral values and social values in a collection of short stories by Ahmad Tohari as learning material in class X SMAN 5 Pandeglang. The aim of this study to 1) Provide knowledge about the values contained in short story, 2) Growing motivation in reading short story literature, 3) Increasing interest in appreciating short stories, 4) Able to analyze the values contained in short story literature, 5) Instill the positive values of short stories in everyday life. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method. Descriptive method is the method used to make broader conclusions. Research data collection techniques were carried out using literature studies or documentation studies on Ahmad Tohari’s short stories. The steps in this descriptive study are, 1) Identify significant problems that can be solved through the descriptive method, 2) Formulate the problem clearly, 3) Determine the purpose and benefits of research, 4) Conduct literature studies related to problems, and 5) Collect and analyze data qualitatively. The steps of data collection are reading Ahmad Tohari’s short stories carefully, recording the appropriate data, identifying and classifying data and making data education. The results of the study indicate that the collection of short stories by Ahmad Tohari contains many values, especially moral values and social values.

The writing of literary works by authors from Minangkabau is dominated by the theme of youth resistance to Minangkabau culture supported by the Elder. Therefore, this article tried to discuss about young people's resistance to Minangkabau culture in the Kompas Daily short story. The research data was collected from four short stories by Minangkabau authors published by Kompas daily and analyzed using the theory of sociology of literature by using mimesis approach. This type of research was qualitative descriptive. Collecting and analyzing data were done simultaneously with reading-record-analysis technique, used content analysis method and heuristic and hermeneutic reading method. The findings of the study and discussion revealed that the short story of the Kompas Daily contained the resistance of Minangkabau youth which included resistance to the tradition of money pick-ups,  to the customary provisions that prohibit boys in Minangkabau occupied communal land, to mamak policies abusing inherited property, and  to the ban on marriage in the Minangkabau culture.Penulisan karya sastra oleh pengarang yang berasal dari Minangkabau didominasi oleh tema penentangan kaum muda terhadap budaya Minangkabau yang didukung oleh kaum tua. Oleh sebab itu, artikel ini mencoba melihat penentangan kaum muda terhadap budaya Minangkabau dalam cerpen Harian Kompas. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dari empat cerpen karya pengarang Minangkabau yang diterbitkan Harian Kompas dan dianalisis menggunakan teori sosiologi sastra dengan menggunakan pendekatan mimesis. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskripstif. Pengumpulan dan penganalisisan data dilakukan secara bersamaan dengan teknik baca-catat-analisis, menggunakan metode content analysis dan metode pembacaan heuristik dan hermeneutik. Temuan penelitian dan pembahasan mengungkapkan bahwa cerpen Harian Kompas memuat penentangan kaum muda Minangkabau yang meliputi penentangan terhadap tradisi uang jemputan, penentangan terhadap ketentuan adat yang melarang anak laki-laki di Minangkabau menempati tanah ulayat, penentangan terhadap kebijakan mamak yang menyalahgunakan harta pusaka, dan penentangan terhadap larangan pernikahan sesuku dalam budaya Minangkabau.

The research entitled “Identification of Unit Shift from Word to Phrase in English-Indonesian Translation of Ms Wiz Spells Trouble by Terence Blacker” finds the unit shift and classifies the unit shift in Ms Wiz Spells Trouble short stories by Terrence blacker. The theory used in this research is unit shift by Catford as seen in his book entitled ‘A Linguistic Theory of Translation’. Descriptive analysis method is used to analyze the data in the research. Based on the analysis, unit shift is a change of a unit in source language to a different unit in target language. There are two classified unit shift in the research; from Adverb to adverbial phrase and adjective to adjective phrase.

This research aims to show the masculinity crisis experienced by a male character (a husband) due to the shift role of breadwinner in marriage in the short story "Huruf Terakhir" by Benny Arnas. This research is essential because it can demonstrate the impact of the wife's involvement to work in the public domain towards the husband's condition. This research is qualitative research by utilizing the concept of gender. Data collection techniques are carried out through document tracing on a short story "Huruf Terakhir" by Benny Arnas as the corpus.  The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive analysis method. The results showed that shifting role of breadwinner can cause a man (a husband) to experience a crisis of masculinity such as loss of independence, confidence, courage, assertiveness, and emotional control. The shifting role as breadwinner is also shown to open the opportunities for repression in women. Therefore, the research on the short story "Huruf Terakhir" is expected to contribute to the study of gender-sensitive literature, especially since it is able to show masculinity traits associated with the role of breadwinner can complicate men’s position and  potentially hinder women's freedom.

This research was conducted to find out the translation methods applied by the translator in translating figurative language in O. Henry’s short stories. This descriptive analysis research took the data from nine short stories as the research documents. There were 19 data taken from those nine short stories. The data were collected by analysis of document. Based on the research findings, from nine short stories, seven simile, three metaphor, three hyperbole were literal translation, two simile were semantic translation, two hyperbole were communicative translation, one hyperbole was idiomatic translation, and one simile was translated free translation. In conclusion, the findings of the study indicated that the result of literal translation was significantly higher than others translation methods. The result is expected to be helpful to improve students’ and readers references of translation method.

This research originated from the low skills of grade IV SDN (public school) 1 Sigli students in writing short stories. Learning media to write short stories is an alternative means of delivering material to students through animated film media. This study aims to determine the improvement of short story writing skills using animated film media in fourth grade students of SDN 1 Sigli. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in three cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this study were 24 students of grade IV SDN 1 Sigli, consisting of 12 female students and 12 male students. The data collection technique was done by using tests, observations, and field notes. The data analysis used was a comparative descriptive analysis technique. The results of data analysis showed that the acquisition of student learning outcomes with an average value in cycle I: 60%, cycle II: 80%, and cycle III: 91%. Thus it can be concluded, the use of animated film media can improve students' short story writing skills, and teachers always improve their skills in using instructional media. This can be seen from the cycles obtained by students in each cycle.

The research was motivated by the success of the Children's Literaturecourse. During this time students taking courses in children's literature lessinterested in writing children's stories, because they think children's literature isnot interesting. The use of a less appropriate learning model is very influential inteaching and learning smooth and therefore can not meet the Unimed passingstandards  specified in Children's Literature Lecture Events Unit. Lecturers whoteach the exact learning model is expected to improve the ability of students to writea short story based on the character of the child. Many models can be applied in thelearning process, one of which is a model of learning Mind Map. Learning isproving an increase in the ability of students to write a short story based on thecharacter of the child's learning model implemented Mind Maps. Analysis of thedata used is descriptive analysis that describes the direction of change, improvementchanges, and understanding of concepts. The results of this study began beforeimplementing the learning cycle that initial test results with an average value of69.3. After the first cycle of the pretest is then performed by applying learningmodels with Mind Maps average value of 84.7. These results are considered to beless satisfactory then continue the cycle II conducted by applying the  model oflearning  Mind Map  with the average value of 91.8 were categorized as verycompetent. Furthermore concluded that the model of learning Mind Map canenhance the ability to write short stories character based child student in theDepartment of Indonesian.
