Basic Health Research Data 2018 states that the prevalence of malnutrition in infants is 18.8%. MPASI, complimentary food to breast milk, is food or drink containing nutrients, given to babies or infants aged 6-24 months, and given in stages according to the age and digestive capacity of the babies or infants to meet their nutritional needs other than breast milk. This dedication aims to improve the nutritional status of infants under five years old by providing nutrition education to mothers of children under five related to the provision of complementary feeding recommended by WHO. The method used is counseling to 30 mothers of toddlers in Mataram City. The results of the community service activity show that there is an increase related to participants’ knowledge of complementary foods, solving problems for children who do not want to eat, and an increase in commitment to make complementary foods according to those recommended by WHO. The conclusion of this dedication is an increase in knowledge and willingness of mothers to provide food in accordance with WHO recommendations.

The nutritional needs of infants 6-24 months can be met by providing complementary foods with breast milk (MP-ASI). One of the causes of the increasing incidence of malnutrition at 12 to 24 months of age in the world and in Indonesia is the provision of complementary foods that are not in accordance with WHO standards. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge of mothers about complementary foods. This activity was held in Mapane Village on November 7, 2020. The target of this activity is 5 mothers of toddlers. The method of this activity was distributing pre-test questionnaires to participants, distributing leaflets then conducting counseling, and evaluating activities through post-tests. The results of the counseling obtained an increase in the knowledge of mothers under five about complementary foods. The average of knowledge before extension was 74% and the average after extension was 96%. The results of this service recommend that village midwives in Mapane Village be able to provide continuous counseling at each posyandu

Complementary food to breast milk is food or drink given to babies aged 6-24 months to meet nutritional needs other than breast milk. Supplementary food or complementary feeding programs have been implemented in Indonesia with the hope of reaching 80%, but in this case it fulfills many things. According to the 2008 Ministry of Health's national data, there were 28.5% or 6 million undernourished toddlers because there were still many people who lacked knowledge about the importance of maintaining nutrition from infancy. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge of mothers about complementary foods and offering complementary foods at the age of 0-6 months. This type of research is analytical correlation with cross sectional design. The population is all mothers who have babies aged 0-6 months in Billa'an village. Sampling using a total sampling technique of 34 respondents. The independent variable is mother's knowledge, while the dependent variable is offering complementary foods to babies aged 0-6 months. The instruments used were questionnaires and KMS books. The results of the study of 34 obtained results as many as 3 respondents (8.82,%) who have knowledge of complementary foods and 27 respondents (79.4%) are not appropriate in giving complementary foods at the age of 0-6 months. The statistical test used is Chi-Square with a significant number a = 0.05, then it is obtained X2 count (14.008)> X2 table (5.991) so that Ho is rejected. From the results obtained, it can be ignored that there is a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and complementary feeding in infants aged 0–6 months. Therefore the need for mother's awareness to increase mother's knowledge in providing complementary breastfeeding on time or age, namely for babies aged 6 months so that it does not pose a risk because the function of the baby's digestive system is not optimal if given complementary feeding before the baby is 6 months old.

When breast milk is no longer enough to meet the nutritional needs of infants, complementary foods should be added to their diet. It is a very vulnerable period when malnutrition starts in many infants, contributing significantly to high prevalence of malnutrition in under-5 children world-wide. In Bangladesh, complementary feeding (CF) practices are not satisfactory. The objectives of the study were to look into the feeding patterns of under-2 children and to identify the causes which lead mothers/ caregivers to practice inappropriate CF. This cross-sectional study was done in the Pediatric department of Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital, Dhaka and in a private chamber from a district town of Bangladesh from October, 2011 to December, 2011. Four hundred mother-child pairs were enrolled by non-random convenience sampling. Different aspects of feeding practices (age of initiation of CF, type of first complementary food, current main complementary food & its quantity, and frequency of CF) were analyzed. Bottle feeding, fast foods and lack of proper family support were most important barriers (p<0.05). High rate of early initiation of CF was mainly due to mothers’ perception that breast milk alone was not enough (81.8%) and main cause of late initiation was refusal of complementary foods by their babies (48.4%). Feeding practices were mainly influenced by relatives (25%), qualified doctors (15.3%), neighbors (14.5%) & mother-in-laws (13.5%). CF practices are still far from ideal. Strengthening of nutrition education to mothers/caregivers and family members/relatives along with awareness building in the community may change the wrong practices.J Bangladesh Coll Phys Surg 2015; 33(4): 195-201

Complementary Foods for Mother's Milk (MP-ASI) are foods or drinks that contain nutrients, which are given to infants to meet their nutritional needs. MP-ASI is given along with breast milk from 6 months to 24 months. As babies get older, after babies are 6 months old, they are introduced to complementary foods to meet their nutritional needs. The impact of giving MP-ASI too early is more frequent constipation, diarrhea, constipation, cough, runny nose and fever, compared to babies who are only exclusively breastfed. This study aims to determine the relationship between early complementary feeding and the incidence of diarrhea in Lubuk Palas Village, Silau Laut District in 2021. This type of research was cross sectional with a correlational study design. The population in this study were all mothers who had babies 0-6 months who lived in Lubuk Palas Village, Silau Laut District in 2021, as many as 35 people, while the samples taken in the study were all mothers who had babies under 0-6 months as many as 35 people. The results showed that there was a relationship between the availability of clean water and healthy latrines with the incidence of diarrhea in children under five. There is a relationship between early age of complementary feeding and the incidence of diarrhea in Lubuk Palas Village, Silau Laut District in 2021. It is expected that mothers who have babies at an early age in Lubuk Palas Village, Silau Laut District, should try to give exclusive breastfeeding until the baby is 6 months old.

Growth in infants and nutritional problems in children are often caused by the inaccuracy of parents in their habits of inappropriate breastfeeding and complementary feeding, and mothers are less aware that babies aged 6 months already need complementary feeding. mothers in good quantity and quality. At the age of 6 months apart from breastmilk, the baby can start to be given complementary foods, because at this age the baby already has a chewing reflex with stronger digestion. In giving baby food, it is necessary to pay attention to the punctuality of delivery, frequency, type, quantity, foodstuff, and method of manufacture, improper infant feeding habits, such as feeding too early or too late, insufficient food given and inadequate frequency. this can have an impact on the health and nutritional status of the baby. Based on the data obtained from the health office, it is known that from 12 districts the prevalence of malnutrition and malnutrition based on the BB / U indicator is 17.2% and based on the TB / U indicator is 20.2%. Fasting Ramadan as worship has many benefits for health, so that these two goals can be achieved, it is necessary to regulate diet specifically, especially regulating nutritional intake during iftar and sahur. During fasting the diet will change, because it is only allowed to eat in the morning before dawn and at night. The stomach is left empty for about 13 hours. Generally, the body takes 3-5 days to adapt to a new diet. From the nutritional aspect, fasting will at least reduce nutritional intake, especially energy by around 20-30 percent. This community service activity is carried out using an action study method where mothers in Tonasa Village will practice cooking food according to the nutritional needs needed according to age, then increase knowledge and understanding of balanced nutrition during fasting for PKK mothers in RW 01 In addition, we as a service team will provide tips so that families can continue to do activities without feeling weak. The education provided is about balanced nutrition when fasting through Pre and Post Tests. The implementation time of the service is carried out for 4 months. The expected result of this service is that it can increase the knowledge and skills of mothers regarding a balanced nutritional menu during fasting.

Introduction: Appropriate complementary foods have been found to provide infants and young children with nutritional needs for their growth and development. In the absence of a randomized control trial (RCT), this study used observational data to evaluate the effect of appropriate complementary feeding practices on the nutritional status of children aged 6–23 months in Malawi using a propensity score matching statistical technique. Methods: Data on 4,722 children aged 6 to 23 months from the 2015–16 Malawi Demographic and Health Survey (MDHS) were analyzed. Appropriate complementary feeding practices were assessed using the core indicators recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO)/United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and consist of the introduction of complementary feeding, minimum dietary diversity, minimum meal frequency and minimum acceptable diet based on a dietary intake during a most recent 24-h period. Results: The prevalence of stunting (height-for-age z-score < −2 SD) was 31.9% (95% CI: 29.3%, 34.6%), wasting (weight-for-height z-score < −2 SD) 3.5% (95% CI: 2.6%, 4.7%) and underweight (weight-for-age z-score < −2 SD) 9.9% (95% CI: 8.4%, 11.8%). Of the 4,722 children, 7.7% (95% CI: 6.9%, 8.5%) were provided appropriate complementary foods. Appropriate complementary feeding practices were found to result in significant decrease in stunting (OR = 0.7, 95% CI: 0.4, 0.95). They also resulted in the decrease of wasting (OR = 0.4, 95% CI: 0.1, 1.7) and underweight (OR = 0.6, 95% CI: 0.2, 1.7).Conclusion: Appropriate complementary feeding practices resulted in a reduction of stunting, wasting, and underweight among children 6 to 23 months of age in Malawi. We recommend the continued provision of appropriate complementary foods to infants and young children to ensure that the diet has adequate nutritional needs for their healthy growth.
