Abstract: The Transformation of Contemporary Islamic Economics Movement. This paper discusses the phenomenon of Islamic movements in Indonesian since the post-independence until the reformation time. It argues that there is a transformation of Islamic economic movement from the post-Independent (1945- 1998) which emphasizes nationalism and religiosity to community development in the post reformation era. In the early 1990s and after the reformation era, the movement of Islamic economics is aimed at improving social, education and economic development among the poor, not Islamization. In addition, the movement of Islamic economy also emphasizes entrepreneurship for the development of society. The establishment of Islamic banks and philanthropic institutions become the main part of developing Muslim community. In its development, Islamic spirit goes hand in hand with democratization that emphasizes transparency and accountability. Therefore, the model of economic movements aims at community empowerment and welfare.

Kata Kunci:Islamisasi, filantropi Islam, ekonomi Islam, demokratisasi, reformasi

Islamic Credit Cards and Consumptive Behaviour of Society. The credit card as one means of payment utilising cards, is a payment system that is growing rapidly, brought about by the security and risk of carrying cash in large amounts, efficiency, speed and ease of transaction that is offered. Islamic banks are glancing consumer funding products as one of the products services to be offered. There is a very important limitation that must be realized for Islamic banks, namely the provisions of the shari’a principles regarding the provision of credit card and influence on consumer behaviour society, particularly the Muslim community. It is not impossible for the existence of Islamic credit cards that are presented for the ease of transacting to become a card for the ease of indebtedness and cause a consumptive/wasteful attitude that is definitely forbidden in Islamic economic concept.DOI: 10.15408/ajis.v14i2.1287

This paper explores one of the leading Islamic educational institutions and its roles in the dissemination of the Qur’an and community development in an urban setting in Indonesia. The rising trend of the program of the memorization of the Qur’an (taḥfīẓ) has attracted young Muslim generations. This empirical study finds that the PPPA Daarul Qur’an develops an Islamic institution that focuses mainly on the production of the Qur’an memorizers and the dissemination of this program throughout the country. With the large support from broader Muslim community and international networking, the institution is now a home for thousand students coming from across the country. In addition to regular study of the Qur’an, the institution also run charity programs that target the poor to offer easy access to Islamic education. By incorporating education and social service, the PPPA plays important roles not only in enhancing Islamic education but also in developing Muslim community.

This study aims to analyze the importance of a social entrepreneurship approach and celestial entrepreneurship in the midst of Islamic societies in Indonesia. Empirically, Indonesia as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world has great potential in developing community empowerment programs, especially in the Covid-19 pandemic situation which has created many new layers of indigent society. However, at the same time the availability of literature that examines social entrepreneurship as an important instrument of community development is relatively rare. Methodologically, this research is a library research conducted using literature in various forms, which are positioned equally depending on the connection with the main research topic. The results of this study indicate that developing a social entrepreneurship ecosystem that promotes innovation and collaboration is one of the solutions to overcome social problems that occur in the midst of the Indonesian Muslim community. In addition, this study also concludes that entrepreneurial practices carried out by the Muslim community are part of social responsibility, where the overall practice must be framed by Islamic values that prioritize the social dimension of humanity rather than being solely oriented to personal financial benefits.

AbstractIslamic banks create an interest in their own right as a rising branch in financial intermediation, particularly in the post-crisis era. In addition, they also deserve the attention of students of Islamism due to their possible connection with Islamic movements. Through a comparison of Islamic and conventional banking, we analyze the motivations and behavior of Islamic economic actors who determine the cash flow to Islamic banks. Our findings suggest that, in contrast to popular views that portray these actors as ideologues or financiers of radical Islam, they have pragmatic motivations and may adapt to liberal systems in order to seize economic incentives.

The implementation ofthe capitalist system has eliminated the Islamic values in economic practice. After the financial crisis hit the world, the capitalist system reaped many questions and its greatnessbegins to be doubted. The capitalist system implementationprecisely creates new problems in the economy. The concept of individualism which is the main key in capitalist practice only creates economic injustice and misery of the poor. The only economic theory that is expected as a light in dealing with economic problems is an economic system that is able to create justice, the welfare of all parties and blessings both the world and the hereafter. The theory is the Islamic economics which in practice is inseparable from Islamiceconomic law. Islamic economic law that underlies the Islamic economic system is totally different from the capitalist economic system. Keywords: Islamic Economic Law; Islamic economics; Capitalist Economy

Community development in this village was done by taking three primary focus , they are the field of economics, health, and education and religion.

***

Projects began to emerge during the sixteenth century en masse by promising to relieve the poor, improve the balance of trade, raise money for the Crown, and thereby push England’s imperial ambitions abroad. Yet such promises were often too good to be true. This chapter explores how the ‘reformation of abuses’—a fateful slogan associated with England’s break from Rome—came to be used widely in economic contexts, and undermined promised public service under Elizabeth and the early Stuarts. The negative image of the projector soon emerged in response, reaching both upper and lower echelons of society. The chapter reconstructs the social circulation of distrust under Charles, and considers its repercussions. To do this it brings conceptual tools developed in social psychology and sociology to bear upon sources conventionally studied in literary and political history.

The implementation of NUSSP (Neighborhood Upgrading Shelter Sector Project) program policy is a residential upgrading and settlement sector project in the context of urban slum settlement management for the empowerment of the poor communities based on tridaya in Makassar City which was implemented since 2005-2009 (phase I). This study used a qualitative approach by using case study at five urban villages of NUSSP’s program locations as the key areas, namely: Buloa, Cambaya, Lette, Rappocini, and Balang Beru sub-districts within Makassar. The data collection used in-depth interview, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), direct and participatory observation supported by document study, case history, and triangulation. The results of this study indicated that the integrative model achievement of NUSSP’s program policy implementation in handling of urban slum settlement by using the tridaya’s empowerment approach as an effort to empower the poor society, in the form of output and outcome of policy implementation that had provided benefits for the government and the poor communities from the empowerment development aspect, such as the physical environment, economic empowerment, and social empowerment. Although from the economic aspect and social empowerment were not relatively optimal conducted by government and private parties, neither were not yet relatively optimal conducted by NUSSP executing actors in the utilization of local cultural values and religious values to support the successful implementation of NUSSP program policies in the field. The findings of this study were in the form of the development of “Tridaya” empowerment concept into “Pancadaya” (environmental, social, economic, cultural and religious development). This finding revealed that the importance of the use of cultural and religious values transformed in the poor community empowerment concept, so it was assumed that they will give a significant contribution in supporting the integrative model of NUSSP’s program policy implementation in the handling of slums in order to empower the poor communities in urban slum areas.
