This study aims to determining the incidence of prediabetes and diabetes with total cholesterol and HDL as risk factor for the incidence of prediabetes and diabetes in the Palembang city. The research design was used by crossectional with 329 respondent, data was conducted by home visit and biomedical measurement of blood sugar and total cholesterol. The data were analyzed using chi-square. The results of the study showed that the incidence of pre-diabetes 19,8% and the incidence of diabetes14%. There was a significant relationship between total cholesterol and the incidence of prediabetes(p value= 0.003) and diabetes (0,137). the increasing of total cholesterol levels can be an early predictor of pancreatic β cell dysfunction. Prediabetes can increase the absolute risk to diabetes. by knowing lipid profile as risk factor of pre-diabetes, early prevention program can be conducted to decrease the diabetes incidence.

Abstract: Coronary heart is a disease that offense to blood vessels and heart attack due to constriction of blood vessels. A high level of cholesterol in blood or exceeds the normal limit can form sediment in wall of blodd vessels which cause blood vessels constriction or blockage. This research object to determine whether there is a correlation between cholesterol level total and hypertension with coronary heart disease in patients who hospitalized in Regional Public Hospital of dr. Soedarso Pontianak. This study was used cross sectional design, purposive sampling technique, it gained 50 people as samples. The measurement of blood pressure was done in heart poly and cholesterol total level in clinic laboratory of Regional Public Hospital of dr. Soedarso by using enzymatic CHOD-PAP method. It can be obtained that 10 people had hypertension and 40 people did not.the average of total cholesterol was 224 mg/dl. Maximum value of total cholesterol was 224 mg/dl and 152 mg/dl as minimum value. Data has been analyzed by using statistical test, Chi-Square, to determine the correlation of total cholesterol wit coronary heart disease, obtained p value=0,024 (less than α=0,05). Correlation of hypertension and coronary heart disease gained p value=0,923 (more than α=0,05), it can be concluded that total cholesterol correlated with coronary heart disease, and there was not a correlation between hypertension and coronary heart disease.Abstrak: Jantung koroner adalah penyakit yang  menyerang pembuluh darah dan serangan jantung, karena penyempitan pada pembuluh darah. Kadar kolesterol yang tinggi dalam darah melebihi normal dapat membentuk endapan pada dinding pembuluh darah sehingga menyebabkan penyempitan dan tersumbatnya pembuluh darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kadar kolesterol total dan hipertensi dengan penyakit jantung koroner pada pasien di RSUD dr. Soedarso Pontianak. Disain penelitian  ini menggunakan cross sectional, teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu purposive sampling, didapat jumlah sampel 50 orang. Pengukuran Tensi Darah dilakukan di poli Jantung dan pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol total di laboratorium klinik RSUD dr. Soedarso Pontianak dengan metode enzimatik CHOD-PAP. Hasil penelitian didapatkan 10 orang mengalami hipertensi dan 40 orang non hipertensi. Rata-rata kadar kolesterol total 224 mg/ dl. Nilai maksimum kadar kolesterol total yaitu 224 mg/dl dan nilai minimum yaitu 152 mg/dl. Analisa data dengan uji statistik Chi-square untuk mengetahui hubungan kolesterol total dengan penyakit jantung koroner didapatkan nilai p = 0,024 (lebih kecil dari  α 0,05). Uji hubungan hipertensi dengan penyakit jantung koroner didapat nilai p = 0,923 (lebih besar dari α 0,05), dapat disimpulkan terdapat hubungan kadar kolesterol total dengan penyakit jantung koroner dan tidak ada hubungan hipertensi dengan penyakit jantung koroner.

High cholesterol levels constitute 56% of the factors that contribute greatly to the cause of CHD. Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a disease of the heart and blood vessels caused by narrowing of the coronary arteries. The purpose of this study to analyze the relationship of sports habits, circumference waist hip ratio, consumption pattern, level of fiber adequacy, and smoking habits with total cholesterol levels heart policlinic patients RSUD Banten. This type of research uses a cross sectional design, with a sample of 96 respondents namely heart policlinic patients. Analysis of the data used in this study is the Chi-square test. The Results show Respondents with normal nutritional status were 66.70%, respondents who consumed cholesterol-lowering drugs were 55.2%. Respondents with normal cholesterol levels were 53.10%, respondents with exercise habits were 56.25%, respondents with RLPP were at a risk of 71.87%. Respondents did not smoke as much as 66.70%. There was a relationship between exercise habits, hip waist circumference ratio, to total cholesterol levels (p <0.05). There is no relationship between smoking habits on total cholesterol levels (p> 0.05). This study concluded that the sports habits, RLPP, affect total cholesterol levels, while smoking does not affect total cholesterol levels.

Girls who undergo early menarche have excess body weight and heightcompared to that experienced normal menarche or late. The prevalenceof early menarche in Indonesia in 2010 was 20,9%. Research conductedby Hyun Ju et al, showed that early menarche is a risk factor for obesityin adulthood. This study aims to investigate the relationship between ageof menarche with body mass index (BMI) at the Faculty of Medicinestudent YARSI force from 2013 to 2014 involving 87 female studentswere willing to become respondents to fill out questionnaires that havebeen provided as well as measuring the height and weight, researchconducted in YARSI in 2016 with cross sectional research methods. Theresults of statistical calculation using the Pearson chi-square test showedthe p value of 0.000 (P value 0.005), which means h0 rejected, thisproves that there is a relationship between the age of menarche withbody mass index in the student of the Faculty of Medicine YARSI force in2013 and 2014. Obesity is a risk factor in children who undergo earlymenarche therefore girls who undergo early menarche should maintain anutritionally balanced diet and exercise regularly.

The purpose of this project was to determine the accuracy in lipids measurement and risk factor classification using Reflotron, Cholestech, and Ektachem DT-60 dry-chemistry analyzers. Plasma and capillary venous blood from fasting subjects (n = 47) were analyzed for total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein (HDL-C), and triglycerides (TG) using these analyzers and a CDC certified laboratory. Accuracy was evaluated by comparing the results of each portable analyzer against the CDC reference method. One-way ANOVAs were performed for TC, HDL-C, and TG between all portable analyzers and the reference method. Chi-square was used for risk classification (2001 NIH Guidelines). Compared to the reference method, the Ektachem and Reflotron provided significantly lower values for TC (p < .05). In addition, the Cholestech and Ektachem values for HDL-C were higher than the CDC (p < .05). The Reflotron and Cholestech provided higher values of TG than the CDC (p < .05). Chi-squares analyses for risk classification were not significant (p > .45) between analyzers. According to these results, the Ektachem and Cholestech analyzers met the current NCEP III guidelines for accuracy in measurement of TC, while only Ektachem met guidelines for TG. All 3 analyzers provided a good overall risk classification; however, values of HDL-C should be only used for screening purposes.

Objective: To define that elevated TNF-α serum level was the risk factor of preeclampsia in pregnancy. Method: This research is a case-control study. From 56 pregnant women, there are 28 women with preeclampsia and the other 28 women with normal pregnancy. Then the serum level of TNF-α was obtained at Prodia’s clinical Laboratory Denpasar. Data’s normality test was done with Kolmogorov-Smirnov, then an analysis of data was done with Independent Sample Test, predictive value a = 0.05. To define the role of TNF-α level in preeclampsia, Chi-Square test was chosen. Result: From this research we found the average level of TNF-α in preeclampsia (6.64 ± 7.64 pg/ml) was higher than in normal pregnancy (2.42 ± 1.77 pg/ml). Analysis with t-independent test shows that the t-value was 2.85 and p-value was 0.006, which means that the average level of TNF-α between the two group was significantly different (with predictive value, p

Aim:-The aim of this study is to analyse the factors causing recurrence of infection in the corneal graft after therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty.Material and Methods:- This study was conducted at Upgraded Department of Ophthalmology, SVBPH,Meerut. This institution performs 120 keratoplasty procedures per year on an average. The study was conducted for a period of one year & 25 patients had reinfection and those who presented with reinfection constituted the sample size complete enumeration.The data thus obtained was compiled and analysed using Statistical Package for Social services (SPSS vs 20). The qualitative variables were analyzed by using frequencies and The qualitative variables were analyzed by using frequencies & percentages & chi square test was used as test of significance.The quantitative variables were presented as measures of central tendency and dispersion. A p value of less than 0.05 was considered as statistically significant Results Initial fungal etiology was the main risk factor for the recurrence of microbial keratitis after TPK in (24%) of the cases followed by persistent epithelial defects (16%),Initial bacterial etiology (12%), Lid abnormalities (8%) ,contact lens use (8%), Secondary ocular hypertension (8%), prior rejection episodes(8%), initial viral etiology (4%) ,peripheral ulcerative keratitis (8%) & suture related problems(4%). Conclusion:- .This study has shown that Fungal keratitis was the main reason for the initial TPK & initial Fungal aetiology was the main risk factor for the reinfection after TPK

Background: India is the country with highest burden of TB. There is paucity of data as far as Pediatric TB is concern. TB in children directly reflects intensity of on-going transmission of TB in a given community. This study was done including indoor cases of Pediatric pulmonary TB in a medical college hospital, a tertiary care institute in the city of Mumbai. The aim and objectives of this study the clinical profile and outcome of Pediatric pulmonary tuberculosis/MDR TB in an indoor setting of a tertiary care center. It was a clinical observational study in a setting of medical college hospital.Methods: All admitted children with newly diagnosed pulmonary TB were included in study. A detailed clinical analysis was done. Statistical Analysis Association between two qualitative data was assessed by Chi-Square test, Fisher's exact test for all 2 X 2 tables where Chi-Square test was not valid due to small counts. Comparison of quantitative data measured between two outcomes was done using unpaired t-test. PSPP version 0.8.5 was used for statistical analysis.Results: Total of 41 patients with pulmonary TB were included in the study, making admission rate of 0.7% of total admission. Three out of 41 children had MDRTB making incidence 7% of total TB patients. Severe acute malnutrition was a major risk factor for dissemination of disease and mortality (p value 0.031and 0.0017).Conclusions: The study estimates 0.7% admission rate and 7% as incidence of MDRTB in indoor patients. Severe malnutrition was found to be risk factor for dissemination of disease [p value 0.031].

Dyslipidemias in children are a diverse group of disorders that include monogenic disorders as well as dyslipidemias caused by a variety of factors. Although cholesterol levels in healthy children differ with age, a potential link to the development of dyslipidemia may be important to determine the likelihood of an early diagnosis. In this cross-sectional study, 220 seemingly healthy children aged 1 to 12 years were studied in Benin City, Nigeria, to determine the pattern of lipid profile. An enzymatic method was used to analyze serum lipids from blood samples obtained from the participants. The level of dispersion of data needed to assess the risk of early childhood dyslipidemia was described using the 95th percentile scale. In the 1-3 years old age group, at least 95 percent of the boys had total cholesterol levels below 132 mg/dL, compared to 124 mg/dL among the girls of the same age. Similarly, total cholesterol levels in the 7-9 year old age group were 127 mg/dL in boys and 110 mg/dL in girls. These levels could serve as a guideline for children of the study’s age group who appear to be in good health. Elevated triglycerides levels were found in male children under the age of three years, as well as in the 10-12 age brackets. Increases in triglycerides in the girls, on the other hand, were not age- or time-dependent. In general, the lipid profiles shown in the results were low, particularly in the 4-6 year old age group. A significant modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease in children is elevated lipid levels. The results of this study demonstrate the importance of routinely screening children for dyslipidemia. Elevated lipid levels are a major modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease in children. The findings of this research can be used as a basis for screening children for dyslipidemia because it provides a 95th percentile in lipid profiles of seemingly healthy children.

Objectives : Novel coronavirus disease COVID-19 has emerged as a pandemic, claiming over 1,431,513 lives ( till Nov. 27,2020 ) worldwide involving 191 countries . The objective of the study is to evaluate age and gender as a risk factor for COVID -19 related mortality . Material and Methods : It is a retrospective cohort study , where the database of indoor COVID-19 positive patients was assessed for the study. Evaluation of the role of age and gender in mortality of COVID infection by comparing dataset of 2,142 indoor COVID positive patients with two outcome groups namely ,death and discharged groups was done. Results: The age comparison between two groups namely, death and discharged groups showed a median age of 60 years (IQR 50-70) for patients who died and 52 years (IQR 36–62) for the patients who recovered from COVID (p value-<0.001). There were 9 (0.65%) pediatric patients (<12 yrs) in the group of patients who recovered .For gender analysis (n=2129), COVID patients who died were 32.5%( n=692) ,out of which 63.6%(n=440) were males and 36.4%(n=252) were females. COVID positive patients in discharged group were 67.5%(n=1437),out of which 61.2%(n=880) were males and 38.8%(n=557) were females. There was no statistical difference between the two groups for mortality risk based on gender for COVID -19 infection (chi square value of 1.09, p value=.296) and the relative risk of death in males and females who died of COVID was 1.052 (95% CI=0.92-1.204). Conclusion: COVID-19 infection is showing predilection for male gender in both death and discharged group but the males and females are equally susceptible to the risk of death .

Office workers are one group with a high proportion of hypertension compared to other types of work. Objectives: To determined the proportion of pre-hypertension, hypertension and risk factors for hypertension among employees in Sriwijaya University. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design at Sriwijaya University, and samples were taken from 4 faculties totaling 152 respondents. Sampling using cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected from September to October 2020. The analysis was carried out in univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis with logistic regression tests. Results: There were 13.2% of employees had hypertension, 40.8% had pre-hypertension, and the risk factor for hypertension among employees was age (p-value = 0.01; OR = 4.76; CI 1.50 <OR <15, 10) after controlling for the variables of the length of work, marriage status and cholesterol levels. Conclusion: There are more than 50% of employees are in a condition of pre-hypertension and hypertension, with age as the main risk; for this reason, employees who are 45 years old are expected to carry out routine health checks with the facilitation of the university and be able to implement the Dietary Approach to Stop hypertension in employees with pre-hypertension / hypertension.Keywords:  DASH, hypertension, pre-hypertension, the risk factor
