Only a few birds besides domestic pigeons and poultry can be described as domesticated. Therefore, keeping a pet bird can be challenging, and the human-avian relationship will have a major influence on the quality of this cohabitation. Studies that focus on characterizing the owner-bird relationship generally use adapted cat/dog scales which may not identify its specific features. Following a sociological approach, a concept of human-animal relationship was developed leading to three types of human-animal relationship (impersonal, personal, and close personal). This concept was used to develop a 21-item owner-bird-relationship scale (OBRS). This scale was applied to measure the relationship between pet bird owners (or keepers) (n = 1,444) and their birds in an online survey performed in Germany. Factor analysis revealed that the relationship between owner and bird consisted of four dimensions: the tendency of the owner to anthropomorphize the bird; the social support the bird provides for the owner; the empathy, attentiveness, and respect of the owner toward the bird; and the relationship of the bird toward the owner. More than one quarter of the German bird owners of this sample showed an impersonal, half a personal, and less than a quarter a close personal relationship to their bird. The relationship varied with the socio-demographic characteristics of the owners, such as gender, marital status, and education. This scale supports more comprehensive quantitative research into the human-bird relationship in the broad field of human-animal studies including the psychology and sociology of animals as well as animal welfare and veterinary medicine.

The intellectual debate of this age in the field of Islamic studies is the discovery of the relationship of religion and the nation-state. Religion in the old age is understood by fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), then the theory of religion on the concept of politics was called the doctrine of fiqh’s politics. The present age shows that the religious man does not speak only about the position of religion in political discourse, but also about the concept of the humanity of the state. I want to apply my study on Islam and humanity of state in the Indonesian context because there are multitudes of nationalities and cultures. This research uses an integrative approach that combines the phenomenological approach with the sociological approach. This research aims to analyze the relation between the religion of Islam and the activity of human thought on the concept of the human state by transforming the concept of the fiqh of politics to the fiqh of citizenship. This research proves that the conceptual transformation from fiqh of politics towards fiqh of citizenship, with all its consequences, must be seen as a process of political agreement and it can be accepted as long as it always pays attention to social justice and general welfare.

This article discusses the qualifying function of the education of the young and adults (EJA) and work, as a humanizing source of wealth and welfare, which differs from the perspective of education throughout life. It is grounded on the critical sociological approach, being DELINEADO with a study of critical revision using documental and bibliographic researches and with a qualitative analysis of the information. It concludes that the educational policies in Brazil are markedly influenced by the determinations from UNESCO, responsible for the diffusion of the perspective of lifelong learning, subsumed to the requirements of the job market and to the social role that is meant for each individual and which differs from the qualifying function of EJA and work. As a political-pedagogical implication of this statement, it is noted that the worker-work relationship is socially determined and that EJA cannot ignore this reality, given that the knowledge of the mechanisms of exploration will make possible and clarify the human emancipation of the worker.
