The reservoir-related tourism industry has been developed for leisure purposes since the 1970s and has gained popularity worldwide. To promote reservoir-related tourism in China, the Chinese government launched a “top-down” project titled “Water Conservation Scenic Spot” (WCSS) in 2001. However, because of the lack of reasonable planning, innovative ideas, and effective governance, there are some problems with WCSS constraining its development. To deal with those problems, it is necessary to have a holistic understanding of the WCSS situation. This study analyses the origin, status, opportunities, and challenges of WCSS development in China. The results show a trend of periodic increase in the number of WCSSs between 2001 and 2016, and WCSS development is unbalanced regarding regions and types. Moreover, the main issues for the WCSS include the failure to follow WCSS guidelines in practice, weak awareness of the scientific educational function, monotonous planning and construction, a lack of cultural preservation, insufficient funding, weak marketing, damaging of natural resources, destruction of clusters of animals and plants, land surface erosion, and landscape pollution. These adverse effects can be alleviated by strengthening supervision and fostering balanced development, promoting education and protecting cultural resources, distributing funding and enlarging popularity, controlling the amount of tourism, and avoiding overexpansion. Overall, the findings of this study can encourage the development of WCSSs in the future and are of significance in supporting the reservoir-related tourism industry.

Abstract At present, the development of tourism is a priority for the Carpathian region. However, the unwise construction and lack of a clear strategy for the development of recreational infrastructure has led to environmental problems in some mountain areas. An important component of diversity and the balanced development of the tourism industry is the possibility of fast analysis of the recreational potential availability and the future functions of the recreational facility. In this study, the formation of a common model of tourism potential on the example of several administrative districts was substantiated. The presented research algorithm includes: 1) conditional division of recreational resources for this region into natural-landscape, historical and artistic, socio-economic tourist resources with their internal classification; 2) spatial location of tourist resources; 3) creation of a species intensity scheme of tourist resources, which will become the basis for the creation of the urban development concept in these territories.

The development in the city is a process occurs by relying on introversion and utilizing extroversion, among which urban regeneration can be highlighted. Thus, recognizing the components of empowerment is one of the main purposes. Applying the rules and observing the necessary principles reduce costs and increase productivity in development. The present study aims to study and compare the advantages of the city, which have more centrality and relative abilities than the peripheral cities, with those cities having the same geographical and cultural characteristics, and the least distance from the city, in an integrated and complementary collection in the tourism industry. Considering that different multi-city managers should similarly play a role, the appropriate reason for their participation can be balanced development and utilization from common interests. This benefit can be achieved based on the management and exploitation of natural and historical attractions, the results of which are synergy and improved performance and exploitation power from the interests. To this aim, the tourist abilities and natural and tourist attractions of the complex are identified and studied, and the results of the analysis are analyzed. The conclusion can be made based on using natural geography and cultural heritage advantages to protect historical buildings and textures better, along with a balanced development of a series of neighboring cities.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore how creative-cultural hotels can achieve sustainable service design through the development of a holistic conceptual framework. Design/methodology/approach The authors created this framework using a qualitative exploratory multi-case study of four creative-cultural hotels in Taiwan. The framework comprises strategic, organizational and interface levels to describe the design process and implementation of service offerings that co-create value within a multifaceted network of actors. Findings The findings of this study show that incorporating local arts and culture into sustainable service design can generate unique value and experiences for customers. From the perspective of sustainable development, these hotels seek to add value by using local creative and cultural resources to ensure that they have a sound commercial base from which to showcase their cultural features. As such, this study recommends that the hotel industry shift its focus to a paradigm that provides a strategic and sustainability-framed vision to create value for society while protecting local natural and cultural resources. Originality/value This multilevel model reframes the development of customer value constellations through a holistic understanding of user experience, eco-design practice, service encounters aligned with user touchpoints and front-line employee capabilities. To integrate the perspectives of both service providers and their customers, the proposed model embeds these stakeholders within a single model through the vehicle of local value co-creation. This holistic framework can assist in designing sustainable service within the hospitality industry to deliver better services and customer experiences. The findings provide an illustration of how the proposed multilevel sustainable-development-oriented service design framework can serve as a useful tool in guiding hotels toward corporate sustainability.

The study recommends that  There is the need for private public partnership (PPP) to foster visible ethno-cultural tourism development projects (tourism potential development, provision of social amenities to enhance competitive advantage and enlightenment campaigns), since the local and state Governments (basically in terms of infrastructural developing and policy issue that will providing an enabling environment for tourism projects to strive) cannot do all or meet all the yearnings of the people.

Based on this background, this paper taking world heritage site Danxia Mount as an example, using input-output analysis method, introducing the theory of lateral effect, has build structure tree model for multiplier effect of consumption in scenic spot. According to the tree model, multiplier effect of consumption in natural heritage scenic spot include industry spreading effect transmitted by endogenetic route and lateral effect transmitted by exogenous route. On the basis of research results, this paper gives suggestions to government on public tourism resources of scenic spots about how to choose appropriate tourism development pattern and make reasonable price policies of scenic spots.

The development of the tourism industry affects such key economic indicators of the country as the balance of payments, total exports and others. Improving the infrastructure taking into account the increasing needs of tourists, the influx of foreign currency and investment, increasing employment through the creation of new jobs. Properly realized tourist potential has a positive impact on the socio-cultural sphere, satisfying the spiritual and physical needs of people. The interpretation of the term "potential" by the scientists in various fields of science is considered. As a result, the authors supplemented and formulated their own definition of the term "tourist potential". The article also studies a number of methods for assessing the tourist potential and builds statistical dependencies and econometric equations that characterize its development in the medium term. The dynamics of the visitors’ number by incoming and outgoing types of tourism was chosen as the estimated indicators.
