Composting is an ecological method of recycling organic waste. It presents an effective solution to reduce the large volume of agricultural waste and provides an organic fertilizer and soil amendment. However, its implementation remains limited, especially in Morocco. The vast majority of farmers are unaware of the effectiveness of compost, and it is often considered as an inefficient product compared with chemical fertilizers. In order to develop a local marketing strategy for compost, this study aims to identify the perceptions and willingness of farmers to produce and use compost in agriculture, and to assess the factors shaping these perceptions and willingness, including socio-economic, agricultural and individual factors. The case of Morocco is investigated, where the vast majority of farmers practice inappropriate disposal of agricultural waste and excessive use of agro-chemicals. Data are collected using a standard questionnaire and face-to-face interviews with 350 farmers during their visit to the international agricultural exhibition in Morocco. Descriptive statistics and analysis of variance (ANOVA) are used for data analysis. The results showed a high level (80%) of acceptance by farmers of the production and use of compost. Farmers are also very willing to produce and use compost in agriculture. All the socio-economic, individual and agricultural factors, except gender, length of experience and cultivated area, had a highly significant influence on farmers’ perception and willingness to produce compost (p < 0.005). The positive perceptions of farmers and the high level of willingness to produce compost imply that the composting of organic waste should be encouraged by our local authorities. The production of compost will thus contribute to environmental sustainability and to the promotion of the ecological management of agricultural waste meeting the requirements of a circular economy.

The agricultural sector is the largest contributor of organic waste that can be recycled as useful things, among others, used as organic fertilizer. This study aims to determine the effect of agricultural waste organic compost on the growth of Cocoa (Theobroma Cacao L.) plants. The analysis results of the materials to be applied are N-total: 0.27% P2O5: 3.20%, K2O: 1.63%, and C-Organic: 17.40%, then the research data were analyzed using a Randomized Block Design (RAK) which consists of 6 levels of treatment, namely: C0 = no fertilizer, C1 = soil + 20 g compost polybag-1, C2 = soil + compost 40 g. polybag-1, C3 = soil + compost 60 g. polybag-1, C4 = soil + compost 80 g. polybag-1, C5 = Soil + compost 100 g. polybag-1. Each experiment was repeated three times, so there were 90 experimental units. Observation parameters were plant height, number of leaves, and stem diameter. The results showed that, giving 100 g of organic waste compost polybag-1 gave better results on the growth of cacao seedlings, with a plant height of 29.61 cm, number of leaves 11.73 strands, and stem diameter of 3.38 mm. From this research, it can be concluded that it will produce better results if organic waste is managed properly.

Effluent digester is potential to be composted by adding organic material (organic waste, etc.) and to accelerate maturity, inoculant effective Microorganism (EM) is required as bio decomposer in fermentation. Not only to break the chain of diseases, this organic fertilizer also economic value, sold as agricultural fertilizer.The purpose of this study is to use the effluent of biogas digester for making compost. This experimental research method using a randomized design consisting of 4 formulations each treatment replicated 3 times with 30 days maturation and the compost will be carried out physical and chemical assessment. The results showed that compost with biogas effluent material: charcoal secam: sequential organic waste with a ratio of formulas: 1 (4: 1: 1); 2 (3: 1: 1); 3 (2: 1: 1) and 4 (1: 1: 1). Physical assessment of the 4 formulas, namely temperature, pH, humidity, color, odor and texture meet the requirements of SNI 19-7030-2004. Measurement of the chemical content of formula 1 (content C: 14.36%; N: 0.98; P: 1.27; K: 1.11; C/N ratio: 14.78); 2 (content C: 17.85%; N: 2.06; P: 1.21; K: 0.88; C/N ratio: 16.91); 3 (content C: 16.14%; N: 0.84; P: 1.02; K: 1.10; C/N ratio: 14.78); 4 (content C: 16.42%; N: 0.89; P: 1.15; K: 0.88; C/N ratio: 18.52). The more use of biogas effluent produced compost with N, P, K the greater is followed by a decrease in C/N ratio and met the requirements of SNI 19-7030-2004. The results of this study can be implemented by, from and for the community, in making compost that is economically beneficial, can reduce the expenditure of chemical fertilizers. renewable energy substitutes for LPG easily and at relatively low costs. The high level of public consumption, balanced with the increasingly dense population globally, makes food waste more and more. Food waste is the second-largest contributor to waste in the world. Moreover, the lack of food waste management makes this condition even worse. This food waste can be found, one of which is in restaurants, school canteens, food courts, and others. Fermentation is the process of breaking down complex substances into simpler ones. A fermentation process can help process food waste into various products such as liquid organic fertilizer, compost, biogas, and raw material for fish feed. Through the fermentation process, food waste can be used as an alternative fish feed with high nutritional content to benefit fish cultivators. Fish need many nutrients for their bodies, with food waste that has been processed will meet the dietary needs of fish. The cultivators will benefit more from the cost of feed and the sale of fish that can meet consumer needs.Moreover, the demand for the fish market is increasing every year. Several factors play a role in the success of the food waste fermentation process and the quality of the resulting product to be converted into fish feed raw materials. Abstrak Ngadirejo adalah desa kawasan Tengger yang merupakan desa penghasil sayur wortel, kentang, kubis, sawi, dan bawang dengan jumlah masing-masing mencapai ±20 ton setiap masa panen. Dalam masa panen, 5-20% dari total panen adalah limbah sayur yang disebabkan oleh cacat pada sayur, dan sisa dari sortiran yang tidak bisa dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat. Rendahnya pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap pengolahan limbah organik menyebabkan limbah sayur menjadi penyumbang sampah terbesar di kawasan Tengger. Tujuan program pengabdian ini adalah mengurangi populasi sampah organik Desa Ngadirejo  dengan cara mengolah limbah sayur sebagai pupuk organik cair (POC). Program ini dilakukan dalam bentuk sosialisasi, pelatihan, praktek pengolahan limbah sayur sebagai POC terhadap gabungan kelompok tani (GAPOKTAN), analisis kandungan unsur pada POC dalam lingkup laboratorium, serta pendampingan aplikasi POC sebagai pengganti pupuk kimia (PK) dalam penanaman sayur. Hasil program ini terbukti dapat menurunkan jumlah sampah sayur secara drastis, meningkatkan pengguna POC dan secara kualitatif produk POC memiliki unsur hara lebih banyak dari PK. Abstract Ngadirejo is a village in the Tengger area that produces ± 20 tons each of carrots, potatoes, cabbage, mustard greens, and shallots. During the harvest period, 5-20% of the total harvest is vegetable waste caused by defects in the vegetables, and the rest of the sort can no longer be consumed. The low level of public knowledge about organic waste processing has made vegetable waste the biggest contributor to waste in Tengger. This program aims to reduce the organic waste population in Ngadirejo by processing vegetable waste as liquid organic fertilizer (LOF). This program is carried out in form of socialization, training, and practice of processing vegetable waste as LOF to farmer, elemental analysis within the scope of the laboratory, and monitoring the application of LOF as a substitute for chemical fertilizers (CF) on vegetable cultivation. The results of this program have been shown to drastically reduce the amount of vegetable waste, increase LOF users, and qualitatively LOF products have more nutrients than CF.

Partners in the implementation of Community Service is the Kembang Lestari Peasant Women's Group located in Taman Village, Abian Semal Subdistrict, Badung Regency.  This group has problems with the high price of chemical fertilizers and vegetable pesticides for the treatment of cultivated crops.  This condition causes an increase in production costs and decreased profits. They have yet to find a solution to get cheaper, environmentally friendly plant-based fertilizers and pesticides that they will use in their organic farms in the future.   Therefore, it is necessary to provide an alternative to organic fertilizers while serving as vegetable pesticides that are easy to make, cheap, and environmentally friendly.  The alternative is an eco-enzyme that can be made from organic waste in the form of fruit peels. Eco-enzymes have the same benefits as liquid fertilizers, compost, anti-bacterial, midges, and disinfectants. Women's Farmer Groups of Kembang Lestari are given knowledge of eco-enzymes and their benefits, how to make and how to apply them to plants.  The methods carried out in the implementation of this activity are by interviewing, face-to-face, counseling, and practice methods directly. First, the authors held general counseling on what an eco-enzyme is, its benefits for plants, and environmental sustainability. Second, the authors provide hands-on training in the manufacture of eco-enzymes and how to implement them and conduct several evaluations to ensure farmers can make eco-enzymes independently and see what percentage of the increased production and increased profits earned by the farmer group after the implementation of these eco-enzymes.   Third, it motivates farmers to keep using eco-enzyme fertilizers continuously in cultivating crops.

Greenhouse gases dominated by CO2, CH4, CFC, and N2O come from human (anthropogenic) activities. Efforts to increase the production of rice and corn crops require organic and inorganic fertilizers. The use of chemical fertilizers, which can increase greenhouse gas emissions, is higher than that of organic fertilizers. This study aimed to investigate the reduction in the greenhouse gas emission rate and the increase in crop production caused by organic fertilizer from rice straw and cocoa peel, a community-based sustainable development approach based on education. This research used the mixed method, a descriptive and simple experimental design with the following treatments: t0 = without Compost; ta = straw rice compost dosage of 3 t ha-1; tb = cocoa pod husk dosage of 3 t ha-1; Bta = maize crops + without compost (t0); Btb = maize crops + cocoa pod husk compost (tb); Sta = bare soil + without compost (t0); Stb = rice crops + straw compost (ta); Stc = rice crops + cocoa pod husk compost (tb); and Std = rice crops + without compost (t0). The application of compost reduced agricultural waste and greenhouse gas emissions of CH4 and N2O in both maize and rice fields. Greenhouse gas emissions were reduced by 30 percent compared to those under the application of chemical fertilizers. The utilization of compost as organic fertilizer also increased the production of corn and rice crops compared to that without the application of agricultural waste up to 10.3 tons per ha.

Abstract A feasibility analysis of tertiary treatment for Organic Liquid Agricultural Waste is presented using filamentous algae belonging to the genus Cladophora sp. as an alternative to chemical tertiary treatment. The main advantages of tertiary treatments that use biological systems are the low cost investment and the minimal dependence on environmental variables. In this work we demonstrate that filamentous algae reduces the nutrient load of nitrate (circa 75%) and phosphate (circa 86%) from the organic waste effluents coming from dairy farms after nine days of culture, with the added advantage being that after the treatment period, algae removal can be achieved by simple procedures. Currently, the organic wastewater is discarded into fields and local streams. However, the algae can acquire value as a by-product since it has various uses as compost, cellulose, and biogas. A disadvantage of this system is that clean water must be used to achieve enough water transparency to allow algae growth. Even so, the nutrient reduction system of the organic effluents proposed is friendly to the ecosystem, compared to tertiary treatments that use chemicals to precipitate and collect nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates.

<em>The rate of conversion of paddy fields and irrigation water crisis suggest to consider the development of upland rice.� Empowerment of organic-based dryland done to increase rice, as well as environmental sustainability efforts.� The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effect of organic fertilizer residue to upland rice in the second growing season.� Experiments using a split-split plot design.� The main plot consisted of a dosage of 50% and 100% organic fertilizer in the first growing season.� Sub plot consisted of chicken manure (20 tons ha<sup>-1</sup>), <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Centrosema</span>� <span style="text-decoration: underline;">pubescens</span> (4.3 tons ha<sup>-1</sup>) + chicken manure (10 tons ha<sup>-1</sup>), and <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Thitonia</span> <span style="text-decoration: underline;">diversifolia</span> (4.3 tons ha<sup>-1</sup>) + chicken manure (10 tons ha<sup>-1</sup>).� Sub-sub plot consist of Danau Gaung and Batu Tegi varieties.� The different types of fertilizer had no effect on plant productivity.� The addition of <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Thitonia</span> <span style="text-decoration: underline;">diversifolia</span> gave a good effect on some growth variable and its resistance due pathogen attack.� Batu Tegi varieties are varieties that give the best response from an organic fertilizer.� Interaction between dosage, type of fertilizer, and varieties do not provide areal impact.</em>

Knowledge of animal feed and waste is an important component in building the livestock industry. The aspectof availability of feed and the production of livestock waste is one of the problems by cattle farmers in MattirowalieVillage, Libureng Sub-District, Bone Regency. Efforts to increase the capacity of farmers in solving these problems areneeded to increase the productivity of their livestock. This program aims to increase knowledge for farmers of beef cattlein processing agricultural and livestock waste into feed products and processing them into organic fertilizer. This activityis an implementation of the Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Unhas (PPMU) Program Kemitraan Masyarakat(PKM). This activity was carried out in Mattirowalie Village, Libureng Sub-District, Bone Regency. The partner groupsinvolved as targets were the "Kurusumange" and "Masempo Dalle" farmers group (FG). The number of trainingparticipants involved in this activity is approximately 25 peoples, overall were cattle farmers with 2-3 cattle/person. Theimplementation of technology introduction programs was carried out in the form of training programs and technologyassistance. Several technology packages that have been implemented were: 1) ammoniation technology, 2) complete feedsilage fermentation technology, 3) manufacturing of local microorganism (LM) technology and 4) Urea Molasses Block(UMB) manufacturing technology. The results of the implementation of activities to increase the capacity of partnermembers in processing agricultural waste and livestock into alternative animal feed and organic fertilizer

Wine producers face several challenges regarding climate change, which will affect this industry both in the present and the future. Vulnerability assessments are at the forefront of current climate research, therefore, the present paper has two main aims. First, to assess two components of climate vulnerability regarding the Szekszárd wine region, Hungary; second, to collect and analyze adaptation farming techniques in terms of environmental sustainability aspects. Exposure analyses revealed that the study area will face several challenges regarding intensive drought periods in the future. Sensitivity indicators show the climate-related characteristics of the most popular grapevines and their relatively high level of susceptibility regarding changing climatic patterns. Since both external and intrinsic factors of vulnerability show deteriorating trends, the development of adaptation actions is needed. Adaptation interventions often provide unsustainable solutions or entail maladaptation issues, therefore, an environmental-focused sustainability assessment of collected interventions was performed to avoid long-term negative path dependencies. The applied evaluation methodology pointed out that nature-based adaptation actions are preferred in comparison to using additional machines or resource-intensive solutions. This study can fill the scientific gap by analyzing this wine region for the first time, via performing an ex-ante lock-in analysis of available and widely used adaptation interventions in the viticulture sector.
