This chapter covers official domestic practices. Orthodox Judaism is firmly rooted in the world of everyday action: several central commandments and their halakhic elaboration include activities such as the preparation and consumption of food, the observance of the weekly sabbath and numerous festivals, dress, education, and the recital of blessings before and after eating and in other daily contexts. The home is explicitly designated as a sacred sphere, to a greater extent than in Christian and general British culture. The conception, nurturing, and education of children are often seen as central to the Jewish woman's role, even though no formal commandments are entailed. Most Orthodox women see their domestic role in very different, more nuanced, and complex terms, viewing it as central to their identity and to Jewish continuity, but not as the only sphere in which they should be active religiously. Many of them, particularly the Modern Orthodox, have indeed internalized feminist arguments and seek to extend their religious lives outside the boundaries of the home, and to take a more active religious role within it, but they all share the conviction that the creation of a Jewish home and the raising of children to be good human beings and faithful Jews is a task of vital importance.

AbstractHeidegger maintains that the root of modern technology, like that of all other technologies, lies in technē. However, because the art dimension of technē is suppressed in modern technology, the essence of this technology becomes a Gestell (fixed frame) that enforces product-making, and thus drives technology beyond the control of human beings. The more fundamental reason underlying this “frame-becoming” nature is “the mathematical” that emerges in ancient Greece, which, through the Cartesian subject-object dichotomy, turns the world into the images represented by the subject, and things into definite objects. To escape the dictatorship of the Gestell, it is necessary to re-realize the art-dimension of technē in modern technology, i. e. to let the gentle granting nature of the enowning (Ereignis, event) re-master technology. In this respect, both Heidegger and Heisenberg were inspired by or at least resonated with Lao Zi or Zhuang Zi’s Dao. Confucians will greatly appreciate the critique of modern technology by Heidegger, and especially his view of returning “home” to overcome the possible dangers brought about by technology. However, from the perspective of Confucianism, Heidegger’s critique contains some shortcomings: for example, his ignorance of the individualistic impact in the Gestell and his unidirectional “ontological difference,” which leads him to a view of “home” that lacks “family” and therefore renders his solution loose and rootless. Only an organic community originated in the family, be it Confucian or Amish, can effectively reduce the control of modern technology over the human being.

The world is the largest unit of human society and its important part is society. Folk literature, folk art and consequent folk culture are the creation of this way of life. Many families form a society by joining one family. Every person in the family plays an important role in building the family, society, nation and the world. India is a culture oriented country in the whole world. The word Sanskrit is related to Sanskar which means to amend, to refine and to make perfect. The word culture became synonymous with the English word culture. It means to create or improve. Rites are hidden in culture itself. Even though the music art originated in the religion-oriented India, the innate feelings and inspirations of human beings have changed. It has been developed and brought up in the womb of music. The social background and folk music of Uttarakhand is closely related. Garhwal and Kumaon divisions, Uttarakhand, the birthplace of Adyashakti Parvati, has been the taphbhoomi of sages and sages since ancient times, Mahakavi Kalidas has worshiped the Himalayas in the Mangal Shloka of his epic and called Nagadhiraj the deity of God and earth. Both these centers of Devbhoomi took their area of influence, due to which the influence area of Kedar came to be called 'Kedarkhand' and Kailash Mansarovar's area of influence was called 'Manaskhand'. 9

Children’s rights law is a relatively young but rapidly developing discipline. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the field’s core legal instrument, is the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history. Yet, like children themselves, children’s rights are often relegated to the margins in mainstream legal, political, and other discourses, despite their application to approximately one-third of the world’s population and every human being’s first stages of life. Now thirty years old, the CRC signaled a definitive shift in the way children are viewed and understood—from passive objects subsumed within the family to full human beings with a distinct set of rights. Although the CRC and other children’s rights law have spurred positive changes in law, policies, and attitudes toward children in numerous countries, implementation remains a work in progress. We have reached the state in which more critical evaluation and assessment is needed of both the CRC and the large body of children’s rights law and policies that this treaty has inspired. We have moved from conceptualizing and adopting legislation to focusing on implementation and making the content of children’s rights meaningful in the lives of all children. This book provides a critical evaluation and assessment of children’s rights law, including the CRC. With contributions from leading scholars and practitioners from around the world, it aims to elucidate the content of children’s rights law, explore the complexities of implementation, and identify critical challenges and opportunities for children’s rights law.

Multiple intelligences are nine abilities in the human beings which allow them to see the world differently. The investigation is focused in discovering techniques that will help facilitate the process of learning and strengthen the intelligences of each individual. A research was conducted to analyze such effect in scale models of human systems. Besides, it was also presented to a group of students taking the course: Anatomy and Human Physiology. Taking into account that a scale model is a physical reproduction in scale of two or three dimensions; something real or fictitious in a reduced size. Concept test were developed on two systems in the human body, they consisted of three skills: memory, identification and analysis. One test was placed to students before making the scale model of the human body and the other one after, while the other test was placed before and after having discussed such human systems without using scale models.
The results of the research showed that the students demonstrate better understanding of the human systems when they were taught using scales of the human body, versus those taught by conferences only. When scales were used there was an increase of skills of 23% in memory, 46% in identification and a 38% in analysis. On the other hand students that did not have scale models only increased 17% in memory, 14% in identification and 9% in analysis. Therefore I conclude that there is a correlation between the techniques of evaluation and the process of learning in students. Finally, the use of scale models to teach was effective.

The article focuses on the notion of femaleness and its role in the history of salvation in the works of Clement of Alexandria. Although these are not the central themes of his considerations, he reflects on this subject against the background of his magnificent vision of the incarnation of the divine Logos. The begetting or generating of Logos by Father is the first stage of the incarnation, which is followed by the next stages: the creation of the world and of human beings, the revelation in the Old Testament and – although not directly – in the Greek philosophy. The last stage is the incarnation in Jesus Christ. All this leads towards the divinization and the unity in God. Femaleness in Clement’s work should be considered as a part of cosmic dimensions. For him, men and women are substantially – i.e. on the level of their souls – equal, hence in the spiritual and intellectual dimension both sexes are vested with identical dignity and enjoy equal rights. The differences between sexes are located in the body and affect various aspects of human life, mostly biological and reproductive ones, not to mention the family, community and religious reality. In practice, it is the woman who is subordinated to man due to the fact, as Clement holds, that the female body is weaker than the male one, more subjugated to passivity, less perfect and more susceptible to passions. For that reason, on the way to salvation, it is the man who is the head of the woman. However, it is not an absolute subjection. If the woman goes on the way to salvation (a Christian woman), and the man does not, the Lord is the head of the woman (the divine Logos, whom she follows). All these differences resulting from the possession of a body are eliminated in eschatology, in which will be the total equality. On that way to the eschatological fulfillment, the divine Logos is indispensable. He incarnates himself and comes to the world through a woman. He chooses what is weaker in order to reveal His power. This way it is a woman, and not a man, who first experiences His divinizing closeness and action.

Thomas von Steinaecker’s novel Die Verteidigung des Paradieses takes up literary catastrophe narratives, in particular scenarios about the last human beings on Earth and develops them further by describing social continuities before and after the catastrophe. Instead of the end of the world the novel depicts a dystopian society with unmistakable roots in the present. Writing about catastrophe is both plot element and metanarrative about the power of culture in the face of a fundamental threat.
