Group of adolescents who have eating behaviour disorders, food intake restrictions, alcohol consumption, drug addiction require special nutritional attention. In 2013 there were 73% of obese teens in Indonesia. This prevalence increases every year. This study aims to determine the risk of eating disorders and their relationship with excessive food intake. This study was cross sectional design with the simple sixe of 97 girls in grade of university level. Risk of eating disorders was determined by using questionnaires Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26). Intake of nutrient was collected by semi quantitative questionnaires. Data analyszed by Chi-square test using SPSS. The results found that among girls, 5% were at high risk of eating disorder, more than 50% have over intake of energy, protein and fat, and 46,4% have over intake of carbohydrate. There was no relationship between risk of eating disorder and energy and macronutrient intake. However, those who were at high risk of eating disorder have over intake of energy, carbohydrate, protein, and fat. Adolescent girls who were at high risk of eating disorders have higher intake of energy and micronutrients. It is recommended for further research on eating disorders risks, eating behaviour and body image.

The object of this study was aimed at identifying factors associated with the risk of eating disorders in undergraduate students in the area of Health Sciences. It is a cross-sectional, quantitative and descriptive study carried out in Montes Claros, MG (Brazil), from August to October 2012. The profile of the university students was identified and the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) applied. 200, students aged 23.4 ± 6.13 years participated in the study, 76.5% of them females. A frequency of 4.0% of the students were at high risk of developing eating disorders, 21.0% at low risk and 75.0% had no risk factors. Various inadequate self-perceptions of the body, dietary practice, missed breakfasts and snacking during intervals were associated with factors for eating disorder risk (p<0.05). For students with inadequate nutritional status, 34.4% were at risk of an eating disorder (p=0,004). The high risk of developing eating disorders among students in a nutritionally deficient condition indicates that they should receive preventive dietary advice.

Background: Perceived socio cultural pressure to become thin has an important impact on eating disorder during adolescence, but less is known about knowledge and prevalence of eating disorders in Nepal. Adolescents face special problems that are less common during childhood. Several studies indicate that the prevalence of eating disorders has been increased among adolescents. Objectives: The aim of the study was to identify the level of knowledge, and prevalence of eating disorders (ED) among adolescents. Specific objectives: To calculate the BMI of the respondents and to associate the BMI with prevalence of eating disorder. Methods: This was a cross-sectional survey in which adolescent girls were selected through purposive non probability sampling technique. The study was based on self-reported questionnaires including eating attitudes test (EAT-26) and BMI measurement. To analyze the obtained data, to calculate the level of knowledge, prevalence and BMI the chi-square was measured. Results: According to diagnostic criteria of EAT-26, 34 students (27.2%) were at risk of ED and scored above the recommended cut-off point on EAT-26. More than fifty percent (60%) of the students had inadequate knowledge, one third (38.40%) had moderate knowledge and very minimal (1.6%) of the students had adequate knowledge regarding eating disorders. BMI calculation reveled that more than half (54.4%) had a normal BMI, one third (28%) were under weight, 16% were overweight and 1.6% were obese. Conclusions: The above results concluded that there is need to conduct structured teaching programs for improving level of knowledge regarding eating disorders and reduce the risk of eating disorders and its effects.

(1) Background: The preoccupation with the increasing appearance of eating disorders (ED) in athletes continues to grow, especially in athletes who practice team sports. ED severely affects the eating habits of the athletes, who tend to use unhealthy approaches to control their body weight. The development of nutritional education and early interventions by training staff is essential, and these factors are widely perceived as beneficial in sports medicine. This study evaluates the frequency at which beach handball (BH) players develop ED, also comparing the differences by sex and age (junior: adolescents vs. senior: young adults). In addition, the relation between body composition variables and ED was studied. (2) Methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 69 top elite handball players (36 males and 33 females) from the Spanish National BH Team; who were separated by age (junior: adolescents and senior: young adults). The athletes completed the Eating Attitudes Test in its 26 item version (EAT-26). (3) Results: The prevalence of ED indicated that 11% of females had a high possibility of developing an ED, and 3% of males. Regarding the EAT-26 total score and subscales, no significant differences were found between female and male participants, or between the junior and senior categories. The correlations showed an association between body composition, in terms of body mass index, and the EAT-26 total score in both males and females. In the case of males, the correlation was negative. (4) Conclusions: Although there are no significant differences between sex or categories, it has been found that elite athletes are a population that is at high risk of developing ED.

Background: The child feed in the first two years of life is of fundamental importance for a healthy growth and development. Aims: To verify the association between food consumption indicators and overweight in children under the age of two, followed up by primary care health professionals. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 232 children assisted by primary care. A structured questionnaire was used with questions on sociodemographic data of mothers or guardians and food intake and anthropometric data of children. The analysis of the association between excess weight and food intake indicators was performed using the Pearson’s chi-square test (χ2) and Fisher’s exact test (f ˂ 5). Results: Regarding food intake in children under 6 months of age, 35.1% of the children were exclusively breastfed. Among children at the age of 6 to 23 months: 66.3% were on continued breastfeeding; 16.7% consumed adequate foods at the age of 6 to 8 months; 90.4% consumed foods that belonged to the six food groups; 76.3% consumed food at the minimum frequency and with adequate consistency; 88.9% consumed iron-rich and vitamin A-rich foods, and 59.3% consumed ultra-processed foods. Regarding nutritional status, 24.5% of the children were overweight. Conclusion: There was no statistically significant association between overweight and food consumption indicators among the surveyed children. However, exclusive breastfeeding was below the recommended level, a low percentage of the introduction of complementary foods at the appropriate age and high consumption of ultra-processed foods reveal the need to improve the assistance provided by primary care to this group.

Objective: To examine eating disorder attitudes and psychopathology among female university students in Australia and Thailand. Method: Participants were 110 Caucasian Australians, 130 Asian Australians and 101 Thais in Thailand. The instruments included the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT) and the Eating Disorders Inventory (EDI). Results: Eating disorder attitudes and psychopathology scores in the Thai group were found to be highest. The Asian Australian group did not have significantly higher scores on the EAT-26 than the Caucasian Australian group, but had higher scores in some subscales of the EDI-2. That the Thai group had the highest scores in susceptibility to developing an eating disorder and eating disorder psychopathology may be partially explained in sociocultural terms, with pressure to be thin more extreme in Thailand than in Australia. The evidence suggested that unhealthy eating disorder psychopathology is not limited to Western societies but is already present in Thai and other Asian societies.

The objective of this study was to examine whether there is an association between individual and family eating patterns during childhood and early adolescence and the likelihood of developing a subsequent eating disorder (ED). A total of 1664 participants took part in the study. The ED cases (n 879) were referred for assessment and treatment to specialized ED units in five different European countries and were compared to a control group of healthy individuals (n 785). Participants completed the Early Eating Environmental Subscale of the Cross-Cultural (Environmental) Questionnaire, a retrospective measure, which has been developed as part of a European multicentre trial in order to detect dimensions associated with ED in different countries. In the control group, also the General Health Questionnaire-28 (GHQ-28), the semi-structured clinical interview (SCID-I) and the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) were used. Five individually Categorical Principal Components Analysis (CatPCA) procedures were adjusted, one for each theoretically expected factor. Logistic regression analyses indicated that the domains with the strongest effects from the CatPCA scores in the total sample were: food used as individualization, and control and rules about food. On the other hand, healthy eating was negatively related to a subsequent ED. When differences between countries were assessed, results indicated that the pattern of associated ED factors did vary between countries. There was very little difference in early eating behaviour on the subtypes of ED. These findings suggest that the fragmentation of meals within the family and an excessive importance given to food by the individual and the family are linked to the later development of an ED.

Abstract Background Healthy eating behaviour of children determines their normal physical and neuropsychological status. Epidemiological data has revealed an increasing prevalence rate of disordered eating behaviour in the population for all ages and genders. It is most common in adolescent girls who often conduct extreme weight control practices, driven by a desire to achieve the “perfect” body shape. Methods A study was conducted among 240 adolescent girls from Varna aiming to estimate their eating behaviour. The data was collected via: • Anthropometric measurements for assessment of the nutritional status Bioelectrical impedance analysis of body composition assessmentQuestionnaires including: Food frequency questionnaire (FFQ); The Eating Attitudes Test - 26 (EAT- 26) to access the risk factors for the development of eating disorders (ED); Questionnaire for identification of risk factors contributing to early dieting. Results The analysis of the results shows that the eating behaviour of the female students aged from 14 to 19 years in Varna can be defined as risky. Findings demonstrate a significant percentage of subjects who are on a diet at the time of the survey. Over 36% of the participants show at least 1 symptom correlating with an increased risk for the development of ED and 22.7% are at very high risk of developing an ED in the future. Conclusions The findings suggest that adolescent girls tend to engage in unhealthy approaches trying to reach their “thin ideal”. Early detection of disordered eating behaviour is especially important to prevent the development of clinically expressed ED and the complications associated with them. Key messages The study has revealed that a significant percentage of adolescent girls are at high risk of developing an eating disorder. The data shows a need for an early detection program for risky eating behaviour in order to prevent the development of ED amongst adolescents.

Background & Objective: Anemia is a public health nutrition problem that can occur at any age. In 2013 the proportion of anemia in Indonesia is 21.7 percent. Anemia can be caused by many factors one of which is the consumption pattern. Anemia in girl adolescents and women of reproductive age can cause problem in the first 1000 days of life. This study aims to determine the risk of eating disorders and anemia in nutrition students.  Materials and Methods: This study is a cross sectional study with sample 46 girl students and 19 yearsl old. Data collection of risk of eating disorders using questionnaires Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26)and  anemia data obtained from secondary data results of a new student medical check up. Data analyzed by using SPSS, bivariate analysis using chi square test.  Results: The results showed 21.7 percent anemia and 26.1 percent risk of eating disorders. 20 percent of students with anemia have an eating disorder risk. The results of statistical tests showed no significant relationship between the risk of eating disorders with anemia. Conclusion: The conclusion of the study is the risk of eating disorders can occur in the student nutrition that may be possible cause of anemia

<p><em>A high-risk pregnancy is a pathological pregnancy that can affect the general state of the mother and baby. Early detection can be done on antenatal care service is by increasing coverage of antenatal care especially pregnancy examination ≥ 4 times or K4. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of pregnancy examination K4 with high risk of third trimester pregnancy at Harapan Raya Pekanbaru Health Center in 2014. The research quantitative type with analytical method, using cross sectional approach. Population of all pregnant women in the third trimester who conducted pregnancy checkup at the Puskesmas Harapan Raya total of 50 people. The sample size was 50 people with Total Sampling and statistical test using Chi square test. The results showed that obtained P value 0.001 where P value ≤ 0.005 Ho in rejection means there is a significant relationship. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between the examination of pregnancy K4 with the incidence of high risk pregnancy trimester III.</em></p><p><em><br /></em></p><p><em>Kehamilan resiko tinggi merupakan kehamilan patologi yang dapat mempengaruhi keadaan umum ibu dan bayi. Cara deteksi dini dapat dilakukan pada pelayanan antenatal care yaitu dengan peningkatan cakupan pelayanan antenatal khususnya pemeriksaan kehamilan ≥4 kali atau K4. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan pemeriksaan kehamilan K4 dengan resiko tinggi kehamilan trimester III di Puskesmas Harapan  Raya Pekanbaru tahun 2014. </em><em>Jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode analitik, menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi seluruh ibu hamil trimester III yang  melakukan pemeriksaan kehamilan di Puskesmas Harapan Raya  jumlah 50 orang. Jumlah sampel  50 orang   dengan Total Sampling dan uji statistik menggunakan  uji Chi square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diperoleh P value 0,001 dimana P value ≤ 0,005 Ho di tolak artinya ada hubungan yang signifikan. Simpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu ada hubungan antara pemeriksaan kehamilan K4 dengan  kejadian kehamilan resiko tinggi trimester III.</em></p><p><em><br /></em></p>

Background. We compared the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 IgG/IgM in multiple sclerosis (MS), low-risk, and high-risk populations and explored possible clinical correlates. Methods. In this cross-sectional study, we recruited MS patients, low-risk (university staff from non-clinical departments), and high-risk individuals (healthcare staff from COVID-19 wards) from 11 May to 15 June 2020. We used lateral flow immunoassay to detect SARS-CoV-2 IgG and IgM. We used t-test, Fisher’s exact test, chi square test, or McNemar’s test, as appropriate, to evaluate between-group differences. Results. We recruited 310 MS patients (42.3 ± 12.4 years; females 67.1%), 862 low-risk individuals (42.9 ± 13.3 years; females 47.8%), and 235 high-risk individuals (39.4 ± 10.9 years; females 54.5%). The prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 IgG/IgM in MS patients (n = 9, 2.9%) was significantly lower than in the high-risk population (n = 25, 10.6%) (p < 0.001), and similar to the low-risk population (n = 11, 1.3%) (p = 0.057); these results were also confirmed after random matching by age and sex (1:1:1). No significant differences were found in demographic, clinical, treatment, and laboratory features. Among MS patients positive to SARS-CoV-2 IgG/IgM (n = 9), only two patients retrospectively reported mild and short-lasting COVID-19 symptoms. Conclusions. MS patients have similar risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection to the general population, and can be asymptomatic from COVID-19, also if using treatments with systemic immunosuppression.
