The Patin catfish (Pangasius sp.) is a species of fish that is widely cultivated both in quarantine and in ponds. The success of Patin catfish cultivation is influenced by several factors, one of them is the feed. Patin catfish need essential amino acids to meet their needs. The addition of the amino acid (lysine) in the commercial feed not only affects the metabolism of the fish but also the content of Omega-3 and Omega-6 would be found in the fish. This study was conducted to observe the influences of essential lysine on the content of Omega-3 and Omega-6 of Patin catfish. This was an experimental study with a completely randomized design method, consisting of four treatments and five replications. The treatment which was given to experimental fish was commercial feed with the addition of lysine at different doses. The result indicated that the addition of lysine in commercial feed for 30 days of this research had a significant effect (p < 0.05) on the increase in the content of Omega-3 and Omega-6 in Patin catfish meat (Pangasius sp.). Based on the results of the current study, Patin catfish can be a good source of Omega-3 and omega 6 if the feed that is used in the cultivation process, contains lysine as an amino acid source.

The long period of raising carp (Osphronemus gouramy) causes the need for excessive feed. One way that can accelerate the growth of this fish in order to shorten the maintenance period is by the addition of essential amino acids, such as lysine. However, this certainly gives its own influence on energy retention. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the influences of addition of lysine in feed on energy retention and feed conversion ratio of carp. The research method used an experimental method with a completely randomized design consisting of five treatments and four replications. The treatments used were the addition of Lysine 0%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5% to the feed. The present experiment was conducted for a year. The results showed that the addition of lysine as much as 2% in commercial feed can increase the energy retention of carp (Osphronemus gouramy). Moreover, the addition of lysine by giving up to 2.5% cannot reduce the feed conversion ratio in carp (Osphronemus gourami) rearing. It can be concluded that the use of lysine has different effects related to the increase in retention and decrease conversion ratio in carp.

This research aims to determine the effect of plasticizer types and concentrations on the characteristics of glucomannan bioplastics, and to determine the types and concentrations of plasticizers that can produce glucomannan bioplastics with the best characteristics. This experimental design used a completely randomized design method. Factor I is a type of plasticizer consisting of glycerol, sorbitol, propanol-2, and polyethylene glycol. The second factor is the concentration of plasticizers which consists of 4 levels, namely 0.5%: 1.5%: 2.5%: 3.5%. The experiment resulted in 16 treatment combinations and grouped into 2 groups to obtain 32 experimental units. The data were analyzed for their diversity and continued with the Duncan multiple comparison test. The results showed that the type and concentration of plasticizers had a very significant effect on tensile strength, elongation at break, modulus young, and swelling. The interaction has a very significant effect on tensile strength and expansion and has a significant effect on the elasticity of glucomannan bioplastics. Meanwhile, the type and concentration of plasticizers had no significant effect on the length of biodegradation. The best glucomannan bioplastic was obtained in the treatment of glycerol plasticizers with a concentration of 1.5 % with a tensile strength value of 6.17 MPa, elongation at break of 21.50 %, elasticity 28.72 MPa development 25.84 %, and degradation time of 8 days. Bioplastics produced in this study have meet the SNI 7188.7:2016 standards in the elongation test at break and standards ASTM 5336 in the degradation time variables. The resulting bioplastic has not met SNI on the tensile strength, modulus young, and swelling variables. Keywords : bioplastic, glucomannan, glycerol, polyethylene glycol, propanol-2, sorbitol

ABSTRACT Methionine is an essential amino acid, and generally, the first limiting one in the diets of tambaqui, the main native fish produced in continental aquaculture in South America. However, there is a lack of information on their amino acid requirement, especially for maintenance and efficiency of utilization. The present study aimed to determine the requirement of [methionine plus cystine] for the maintenance and efficiency of utilization using tambaqui of different body weights. Two experiments were carried out using 250 tambaqui with weights of 100 and 300 g. They were distributed in a completely randomized design with four treatment groups (0.264, 0.396, 0.528, and 0.660% of digestible [Met + Cys]), five replications. The control treatment (CT) was performed with the addition of methionine at the first level (0.264%) until the second level was reached (0.396%). The maintenance requirement was determined by the regression analysis between the consumption of [Met + Cys] and protein retention equal to zero. The efficiency was determined using the value of the slope coefficient of the line obtained by the linear regression. The protein and methionine retention values of tambaqui weighing 100 to 300 g were compared by the parallelism test, and no difference was observed between the parameters of the equations indicating the need for only one equation to describe the responses to body weights. The requirement of digestible [Met + Cys] for the maintenance of tambaqui with weights from 100 to 300 g was 60.47 mg kg-0.7 day-1 and the efficiency of utilization of 42%.
