Abstract The aim of this study was conducted to add low levels of Astaxanthin to the feed on some physical and chemical traits of broiler carcasses raised at 42 days of age. 240 unsexed chicks, one day age, used the ROSS 308 strain, which was distributed randomly into five treatments by 48 chicks/treatment, and each treatment was divided into three replicates (16 chicks/replicate). The chicks were fed on three diets that included the initiator, growth, and final (23, 21.5, and 19.44% crude protein), respectively. Representative energy has amounted to 3000.5, 3100.7, and 3199.25 kcal/kg feed, respectively. Astaxanthin powder was added to the diet at levels 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 mg/Kg of feed (T1, T2, T3, T4, and T5 treatments group), respectively. The results show the following: The treatments with Astaxanthin has recorded a significant improvement (P <0.01) in the percentages of liquids loss during cooking, drip and thawing loss, a significant increase in water holding capacity and pH in favor of the nutrient addition treatments compared to the control group. It, also, showed a significant improvement in the chemical traits of the Myoglobin and cholesterol concentration of minced chicken meat for the Astaxanthin treatments compared to the control group. It is concluded from the present study that the addition of low levels of Astaxanthin to broiler feed during the 42-day rearing period gave the best results in the physical and chemical traits of the carcass.

We compared the physical and chemical characteristics of the pectoralis major muscle from Cobb 500 and Hubbard ISA broilers and evaluated the effect of aging process for up to 7 days on meat quality. We used breast samples from male Cobb 500 (42 days of age; n = 60) and Hubbard ISA (85 days of age; n = 60) broilers. Twenty samples of each genotype were analysed 4 h post-slaughter (Control group). Another 20 samples of each genotype were aged in an incubator (2 ± 0.5°C) for 3 and for 7 days. Breast fillets were 23% heavier in the Cobb 500 group (306 g vs 248 g; P = 0.0009). Before aging, meat from Hubbard ISA broilers had higher (P < 0.001) water-holding capacity, which promotes the production of less exudate and possibly reduces nutritional losses during storage, which may be beneficial to the poultry industry. Despite being initially less tender, breast meat from Hubbard ISA broilers showed, during the aging process, a reduction (P < 0.05) of shear force (48.46–15.04 N), total collagen amount (6.0–4.8 g/kg) and myofibrillar fragmentation index (150.17–97.42) and had the same (P = 0.134) fat concentration (0.87 g/100 g) as that of breast meat from Cobb 500 broilers (0.93 g/100 g, respectively). Breast meat from Hubbard ISA broilers had a higher (P < 0.001) polyunsaturated fatty acid concentration, especially docosahexaenoic acid, which is beneficial to human health. Aging breast fillets for 3 days at 2°C is sufficient to tenderise the meat without reducing its juiciness, which suggests that the aging process can add value to free-range meat.

This study investigated the effects of Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) seeds inclusion in diet of cattle. Fifty-five Sudan Baggara bulls were selected and divided into five treatment groups, and fed iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous experimental diets where groundnut cake was the source of protein in the control diet (0% Hibiscus seeds), while in the other experimental diets, Hibiscus seeds replaced groundnut at a rate of: 25, 50, 75, and 100%. The crude protein was significantly lower in the 100% group than in the control group, whereas muscle fat content was significantly lower in the 25, 75, and 100% groups than in the control group. There were no significant differences between the tested groups for the carcass linear measurements, but there were so for the redness and yellowness color components of the fat, water-holding capacity, and cooking loss. In conclusion, the growth performance and meat quality attributes of the cattle were improved as the level of Hibiscus seeds increased up to 75%, without any adverse effect.

The paper demonstrates the results of applying some doses of probiotic specimen “Propionovyy” when feeding broilers. Propionovyy specimen was developed by the staff of the Laboratory of Microbiology of the department “Siberian Research Institute of Chemistry” of Federal Altai Center of Agricultural Biotechnologies. It includes multi strain propionate of Propionibacterium freudenreichii type taken from the Siberian collection of microorganisms. The scientific and economic experiment was conducted at the poultry farm of LLC Kuzbass Broiler in the Kemerovo region. The researchers arranged four groups of broiler chickens; each group contained 198 broilers. The control group received a basic diet without probiotics. In the experimental groups, different dosages of Propionovyy specimen were added to the main diet instead of feed antibiotic. The experiment explores the effect of “Propionovyy” specimen on livestock farming and physiological parameters of broiler chickens. The following indicators were considered: live weight, absolute and average daily gain of live weight, poultry liveability, feed costs per 1 kg of gain, morphological and biochemical indicators of blood at the age of 28 and 39 days. The researchers observed the chickens of experimental groups who received probiotic specimen “Propionovyy” and found out an increase in live weight by 0.49-1.94%, an absolute and average daily increase of up to 2.00%. The safety of the chickens receiving the probiotic was increased by 1.00-2.02% compared to the control group. Hematological parameters of blood in chickens of all groups varied within the limits of physiological standard that testifies to the healthy physiological condition of the poultry. The authors found out the decrease of glucose and cholesterol concentration in blood serum in the experimental groups. According to the research results the authors elaborated the appropriate and efficient dosage of “Propionovyy” specimen, rendering the greatest positive effect on productive qualities of poultry and reducing expenses of forages on 1 kg of growth on 0,05 kg.

The effect of supplemental protease (Ronozyme ProAct) in broiler diet on the weights and percentage yields of slaughter by-products of male and female medium-growing Master Gris broiler chickens was analysed. Fattening period lasted for 63 days. Broilers were assigned to 3 experimental groups, each consisting of 100 birds. Experimental groups differed in protease levels used in their diets: control broilers (C) received complete feeds (starter, grower and finisher) without supplemental protease; chickens in the experimental group E-I were given a diet containing 0.2% protease and crude protein levels reduced by 4% compared with the control group, whereas experimental E-II broilers were fed a diet supplemented with 0.3% protease and containing crude protein levels reduced by 6% compared with C birds. The analysis of the results showed that feeding treatments had a very small effect on the weights and proportion yields of edible by-products (with difference only in the percentage yield of liver relative to live weight between C and E-I broilers, P<0.05), whereas sex was found to affect almost all slaughter by-products (except abdominal fat weight and the percentage yield of gizzard relative to live weight, P>0.05).

The effects of probiotic (Protexin®, Protexin Veterinary, Somerset, UK), medicinal plant (basil essential oil) and an antibiotic growth promoter (avilamycin) as broiler feed additives on ileal bacteria of broilers were studied. A total of 600 Arian broilers were divided into 6 treatments, with 4 replicates of 25 birds. Treatments were a plant essential oil in 3 level (200, 400 and 600 ppm), the probiotic (150 ppm), an antibiotic (150 ppm) and a control group with no additives. Birds in different treatments received the same diets during the experimental period. The results showed that probiotic treatment significantly decreased total bacteria counts (P&lt;0.05). Any of the supplements did not affect colony-forming units of lactobacilli (P&gt;0.05). The lowest and highest lactic acid bacteria in ileum were obtained by the control group and in birds receiving 400 ppm basil essential oil, respectively. Moreover, addition of 600 ppm of basil essential oil into diet decreased the number of <em>E.coli</em> colonies as compared to other treatments (P&lt;0.05). Our results suggest that basil essential oil and Protexin could be of value to replace the antibiotics that have been banned as growth promoter in animal feeds.

The effect of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) in broiler feed mixtures on the performance was studied in an experiment with 1000 male broiler chickens Ross 308 from 12 to 35 days of age. DDGS were produced from wheat (90 %) and triticale (10 %). Cockerels were divided into 5 groups and were housed on deep litter. Experimental feed mixtures were formulated to contain: 0, 10, 15, 20 and 25 % DDGS and were calculated as iso-nitrogenous. Weighing of chickens was realized at the 12th, 26th and 35th day of age. Control group of cockerels (0 % DDGS) had the highest final live weight and its average daily weight gain was significantly higher (P < 0.01) than in birds from groups with 10, 15 and 25 % DDGS. Broilers from control group (0 % DDGS) had the highest consumption of dry matter of feed mixture per bird. There were no significantly differences in feed consumption per bird and in feed conversion between groups. The results show that incorporation from 10 to 25 % DDGS decreased final weights and weight gains however there were no significantly differences in feed consumption and feed conversion.

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of different levels of DL-methionine in feed for broiler chickens on the quality of vacuum-packed breast muscles stored under refrigeration. The material for the study was 72 breast muscles from 35-day-old broiler chickens fed diets with varying content of DL-methionine. The control group received a basal diet without additional DL-methionine, while the experimental groups received compound feeds supplemented with 0.08% or 0.24% DL-methionine. At 35 days of age, 24 birds from each group were randomly selected and experimentally slaughtered. After the carcasses were dissected, 8 right breast muscles were selected from each feeding group and analysed immediately after cooling. The remaining muscles were vacuum-packed and after 7 and 14 days of storage physicochemical and sensory analyses were performed to assess the influence of storage time on changes in their quality. The methionine level was not found to affect the sensory properties of the breast muscles, but the meat of birds receiving a higher level of this amino acid had better shear force and water-holding capacity in comparison to the control group. After just 7 days, the results of the analyses of vacuum-packed refrigerated muscles showed a negative effect of storage time on the capacity of the muscle tissue to bind water, as well as changes in the proportion of red colour in the muscles. However, it is worth noting that the sensory quality of the muscles deteriorated only after 14 days of storage.

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan minyak buah merah (MBM) pada pakan terhadap kualitas fisik daging ayam broiler. Seratus ekor ayam broiler umur sehari (DOC) ditempatkan pada lima kelompok perlakuan pakan yang berbeda, yaitu: P1 (pakan kontrol/tanpa penambahan minyak), P2 (2% MBM), P3 (4% MBM), P4 (6% MBM) dan P5 (6% Minyak kelapa sawit). Setiap kelompok perlakuan terdiri dari empat ulangan masing-masing dengan lima ekor. Ayam broiler dipelihara selama 35 hari. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan analisis variansi pola searah dan diuji lanjut dengan Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua variable yang diamati menunjukkan adanya pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap perlakuan yang diberikan. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan minyak buah merah (MBM) dalam pakan mampu memberikan pengaruh terhadap pH Daging, Daya Ikat Air (DIA), susut masak dan keempukan daging ayam broiler.Kata kunci : daging ayam broiler, daya ikat air, keempukan daging, pH daging, susut masakABSTRACT The experiment was conducted to study the effect of red fruit oil (RFO) onphysical quality  of broiler chicken. One hundred day old chicken (DOC) were placed in four groups of different treatments, of from levels of RFO (P1 (diet without addition of RFO), P2 (2% RFO), P3 (4% RFO) and P4 (6% RFO) and P5 (6% Palm oil)). The treatment group consisted of fivereplications with five birds each. Broiler chickens were reared for 35 days. Statistical analysis used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the pH value, moisture content, water holding capacity, and cooking loss was significant differences. It could be concluded that the addition of red fruit oil in the diet give effect  of broiler chicken meat.Keywords: broiler meat, cooking loss, moisture content, pH value, water holding capacity

The research was conducted to study the effect of feeding broiler chickens on diets containing isomaltooligosaccharides on the growth performance, carcass traits and immune response. 90-one day old broiler chicks were used according to completely randomized two treatment groups and one control, 30 birds each. Birds fed ad-libitum on basal starter and grower-finisher diets for 35 day. Diets of treatment`s groups contained 0.5 g/Kg and 1 g/Kg of Isomaltooligosaccharides, while the control group fed on the basal diets without Isomaltooligosaccharides supplementation. Dietary supplementation of broiler chickens with Isomaltooligosaccharides improved body weight, feed conversion, carcass traits, two lymphoid organs weight and log antibody titer against avian flu vaccine. Most of the highest values were for birds fed low levels of Isomaltooligosaccharides. Feed intake decreases as Isomaltooligosaccharides level increases. Dietary supplementation with Isomaltooligosaccharides did not affect the lipids profile (triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL and HDL), however the blood VLDL levels decreased with increased levels of Malondialdehyde and Glutathione reductase. Collectively, Dietary supplementation of broiler chickens with 0.5 g/Kg diet of Isomaltooligosaccharides improved growth performance, carcass traits and immune status.

Prediabetes is a glucose homeostasis condition characterized by decreased absorption to glucose or reduced fasting glucose. Both of these are reversible stages of intermediate hyperglycaemia providing an increased type II DM risk. Pre-diabetes can therefore be viewed as a significant reversible stage which could lead to type II DM, and early detection of prediabetes may contribute to type II DM prevention. Prediabetes patients are at high risk for potential type II diabetes, and 70 percent of them appear to develop Type II diabetes within 10 years. The present study includes total 200 subjects that include 100 Prediabetic patients, 50 T2DM patients and 50 healthy individual. Blood samples were collected from the subjects were obtained for FBS, PPBS, Uric acid and Creatinine estimation, from OPD and General Medicine Wards. Present study showed low levels of Serum Uric Acid in prediabetic and T2DM patients were decreased as compared to control group, while the level of creatinine in prediabetic and diabetic were elevated as compared to control group, were not statically significant. Serum Uric Acid was high in control group and low in prediabetic and diabetic patients. Serum creatinine was declined in control group and increased in prediabetic and diabetic patients with increasing Fasting blood glucose level.
