This study evaluates the efficiency of emergency programs used by three contemporary cell washers. Both time necessary to process a given amount of blood and quality of the processed blood are investigated. The Fresenius Kabi Smart, Haemonetics Elite and LivaNova Xtra were validated using bovine blood, with a starting hematocrit of 13% or 21%. For all devices, the pre-programmed emergency program was used. The total volume processed in the 13% hematocrit group was 358 ± 68 mL for Fresenius, 375 ± 308 mL for Haemonetics and 497 ± 87 mL for LivaNova. In the 21% hematocrit group, the volumes were 533 ± 60 mL, 713 ± 142 mL and 798 ± 96 mL, respectively, showing a statistical difference between the Fresenius and LivaNova (p = 0.02). In the 13% hematocrit group, the Fresenius processed 45 ± 15 mL blood/min, the Haemonetics 62 ± 8 mL blood/min and the LivaNova 66 ± 1.5 mL blood/min. The difference between the Fresenius and LivaNova was statistically significant (p = 0.04). In the 21% hematocrit group, the processing speed was 69 ± 4 mL blood/min, 62 ± 8 mL blood/min and 77 ± 5 mL blood/min for the Fresenius, LivaNova and Haemonetics, respectively (p = 0.25). No major differences in the elimination of potassium, albumin and total protein or in hemolytic index were observed. No major differences were observed between discontinuous and continuous systems with respect to processing speed and wash quality with a starting hematocrit of 21%. Minor differences in processing speed were observed with a starting hematocrit of 13%.

Our society needs talents that excel in English-Chinese translation and English education. However, there is not yet a unified and scientific evaluation index system (EIS) for the employment quality of graduates from English department of colleges. Very few scholars have analyzed the difference between English majors in employment ability. Therefore, this paper decides to analyze the difference between English majors in employment ability, and evaluate their employment quality. Firstly, an EIS was constructed to evaluate and predict the employment quality of English majors in colleges. Secondly, the relevant indices were selected and analyzed in turn. Thirdly, an employment quality prediction model was constructed for English majors in colleges. The proposed EIS and model were proved effective through experiments.

The aim of this study was to evaluate parameters indicative of sperm quality of fresh and post-thawed semen of Aberdeen Angus, Holstein and Nelore bulls. Thirty-nine bulls were used: Aberdeen Angus (n=13), Holstein (n=13) and Nelore (n=13). The ejaculate collects were performed twice a week using artificial vagina, totaling 792 semen collections, 307 for Aberdeen Angus, 225 for Holstein and 260 for Nelore bulls. After collection, fresh semen was evaluated and semen freezing was performed. After freezing, the batches were thawed and progressive motility was determined. The analysis of fresh semen showed that there was no difference (P = 0.053) between the Aberdeen Angus and Nelore breeds, while ejaculates from Holstein bulls showed a statistical difference (P = 0.024). As well, a difference (P<0.001) was identified in the sperm concentration of the three breeds. In the samples evaluated after thawing, a statistical difference was observed between Holstein and Nelore breeds (P<0.001), while the values of the Angus breed were similar to the other two breeds. The difference in motility of fresh and post-thawing semen showed that Nelore and Angus bulls showed greater variation in values between the analyzes (26.0±8.9% and 25.3±8.4%, respectively) showing a significant difference (P<0.001) in relation to Holstein bulls (20.6±9.3%) that obtained the smallest difference. The analysis of fresh and post-thawing semen did not show any significant difference (P=0.13) between breeds. In conclusion, the semen cryopreservation process causes a decrease in the physical parameters of the semen and these quality losses suffer interference according to the breeds.

In this paper, the technique of drilling process with picosecond(ps) laser is studiedinAl2O3 ceramics. The defocus method is used to drill the ceramic slice, which is able to improve thedrilling ratio of depth to diameter. It is found out that the best location ofthis ps-laser is about0.15mm under the lower surface of workpiece, demonstrating the difference from nanosecond(ns)-laser machinein the respective ofdefocusing. The impact of the power and the processing speed isinvestigated on the quality of the drilling. For ps-laser machine,a smaller and high qualitythrough-holeis achievable by increasing the power of laser and reducing the speed of process, withthe ratio of depth to diameter from 3.12 to 4.27.The ratio can be further increased upto 6.25,throughoptimization of these three parameters: defocusing amount, laser power and laser processing speed.

Abstract The author of the two-part article about evaluating reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) responds to criticisms that a percentage impairment score may not adequately reflect the disability of an individual with RSD. The author highlights the importance of recognizing the difference between impairment and disability in the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment (AMA Guides): impairment is the loss, loss of use, or derangement of any body part, system, or function; disability is a decrease in or the loss or absence of the capacity to meet personal, social, or occupational demands or to meet statutory or regulatory requirements because of an impairment. The disparity between impairment and disability can be encountered in diverse clinical scenarios. For example, a person's ability to resume occupational activities following a major cardiac event depends on medical, social, and psychological factors, but nonmedical factors appear to present the greatest impediment and many persons do not resume work despite significant improvements in functional capacity. A key requirement according to the AMA Guides is objective documentation, and the author agrees that when physicians consider the disability evaluation of people, more issues than those relating to the percentage loss of function should be considered. More study of the relationships among impairment, disability, and quality of life in patients with RSD are required.

SummaryThe size, total protein, fibrinogen and 5-HT content were evaluated in density subpopulations of human and canine platelets fractionated in linear arabinogalactan gradients. The methodology was assessed to ascertain that platelet separation was by density and to discard artifactual changes and platelet release during the procedure. EDTA or PGEi increased the size of human PRP-platelets, but not of dog platelets. In humans, high density (HD) platelets were 1.26 times larger and contained 1.88 times more fibrinogen, 2.23 times more 5-HT and 1.37 times more protein than low density (LD) platelets; in dogs, these density cohorts did not differ in protein content, but LD platelets were 1.29 times larger and had 1.33 times more fibrinogen and 5-HT than HD platelets. These findings suggest that cell density is mostly dependent on the protein content per unit volume of platelets (and not on dense bodies). The differences in fibrinogen and 5-HT content between HD and LD cohorts in humans and dogs may be related to platelet age. The difference in volume between HD and LD platelets in dogs is of uncertain interpretation.

The construction and selection of a suitable bijective function, that is, substitution, is now becoming an important applied task, particularly for building block encryption systems. Many articles have suggested using different approaches to determining the quality of substitution, but most of them are highly computationally complex. The solution of this problem will significantly expand the range of methods for constructing and analyzing scheme in information protection systems. The purpose of research is to find easily measurable characteristics of substitutions, allowing to evaluate their quality, and also measures of the proximity of a particular substitutions to a random one, or its distance from it. For this purpose, several characteristics were proposed in this work: difference and polynomial, and their mathematical expectation was found, as well as variance for the difference characteristic. This allows us to make a conclusion about its quality by comparing the result of calculating the characteristic for a particular substitution with the calculated mathematical expectation. From a computational point of view, the thesises of the article are of exceptional interest due to the simplicity of the algorithm for quantifying the quality of bijective function substitutions. By its nature, the operation of calculating the difference characteristic carries out a simple summation of integer terms in a fixed and small range. Such an operation, both in the modern and in the prospective element base, is embedded in the logic of a wide range of functional elements, especially when implementing computational actions in the optical range, or on other carriers related to the field of nanotechnology.

The purpose of research: to improve the technology of growing flax in the Western region of Ukraine on the basis of the introduction of systems for minimizing tillage, which will increase the yield of trusts and seeds. Research methods: field, laboratory, visual and comparative calculation method. Research results: Field experiments included the study of three tillage systems (traditional, canning and mulching) and determining their impact on growth and development and yields of trusts and flax seeds. The traditional tillage system included the following operations: plowing with a reversible plow to a depth of 27 cm, cultivation with simultaneous harrowing and pre-sowing tillage. The conservation system is based on deep shelfless loosening of the soil and provided for chiseling to a depth of 40 cm, disking to a depth of 15 cm, cultivation with simultaneous harrowing, pre-sowing tillage. During the implementation of the mulching system, disking to a depth of 15 cm, cultivation with simultaneous harrowing and pre-sowing tillage with a combined unit was carried out. Tillage implements and machines were used to perform tillage operations: disc harrow BDVP-3,6, reversible plow PON-5/4, chisel PCh-3, cultivator KPSP-4, pre-sowing tillage unit LK-4. The SZ-3,6 ASTPA grain seeder was used for sowing long flax of the Kamenyar variety. Simultaneously with the sowing of flax seeds, local application of mineral fertilizers (nitroammophoska 2 c/ha) was carried out. The application of conservation tillage allows to obtain the yield of flax trust at the level of 3,5 t/ha, which is 0,4 t/ha (12.9 %) more than from the area of traditional tillage and 0,7 t/ha (25 %) in comparison with mulching. In the area with canning treatment, the seed yield was the highest and amounted to 0,64 t/ha. The difference between this option and traditional and mulching tillage reaches 0,06 t/ha (10,3 %) and 0.10 t/ha (18.5 %), respectively. Conclusions. Preservation tillage, which is based on shelf-free tillage to a depth of 40 cm and disking to a depth of 15 cm has a positive effect on plant growth and development, yield and quality of flax.
