<div>The importance of decision-making on what to do and skill execution within sport expertise has been emphasized in many research studies. Thus, the aim of this study was to assess the effect of a 22-session comprehensive teaching program on tactical behavior in agreement with different actions (passing and dribbling) in young footballers. This program was based on the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) model (Bunker &amp; Thorpe, 1982). A quasi-experimental design intervention was developed with nine footballers (U-12) over a 15-week period, which was divided into two phases: pre-intervention (comprised of six sessions and measured during three matches) and intervention (comprised of 22 sessions and measured during 12 matches). Two measures were carried out during the latter phase: an intermediate measure during the First 11 sessions, and a final measure, during the remaining 11 sessions. A total of 2 432 actions were observed (1 793 passes and 639 dribbling actions). Results showed a significant improvement in decision-making and skill execution capabilities after the 22 sessions but not after the first 11 sessions. In addition, differences were found between the two game actions, given that a significant improvement was encountered in both variables of the pass action, but only in the execution variable of the dribbling action. These findings highlight the need to know which type of action is going to be trained (more tactical or technical) in order to adapt the training session methodology. It also seems that, for the teaching program to be effective, it should be applied over a longer timeline of at least 22 sessions.</div>

Environmentally friendly mosquitoes trap using common daily materials used by community may give hopes in reducing mosquitoes density. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of environmentally friendly mosquitoes trap made from bottle contained sugar yeast solution for reducing the number of trapped mosquitoes. This study consist of two phases and quasi experimental design was used. Mann Whitney test was used to determine the differences the number of trapped mosquitoes indoor and outdoor. The result showed p value 0,000 which was lower than ? value (0,05), so there was significant difference between the number of indoor and outdoor trapped mosquitoes. The average Rank score of outdoor mosquitoes trap (42,75) was more than indoor mosquitoes trap (18,25). We concluded that the mosquitoes trapped which contained of sugar-yeast solution was effective for trapping the mosquitoes especially outdoor .

AbstractThe aim of this study was to analyze the effect of a teaching program, based on Non-Linear Pedagogy, on decision-making and performance in youth soccer players as a function of the type of play action. Our participants were 19 players from the U12 age category. The teaching program, which was based on the application of modified games characterized by a numerical superiority in attack, was used for 14 training sessions. This program was conducted in two phases (preparation-for-intervention and intervention). Decision-making and execution for pass and dribbling actions were evaluated through the Game Performance Evaluation Tool. The results showed significant differences in favour of the experimental group in decision-making (p < .000) and the execution of passes (p = .003) after the intervention. However, such differences were not found for dribbling (decision-making, p = .402 and execution, p = .143). These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of this type of program for teaching actions with a high tactical component, such as the pass, and a different approach must be considered in actions with a high technical component, such as dribbling. It is necessary to continue developing studies in this line to clarify these issues.

Abstract. This work shows the incidence of an inclusive teaching intervention in Physical Education on self-concept of students with motor disability. Six teachers from three different schools and 168 students from Secondary Education (88 boys and 80 girls with a mean age of 14,04 years), nine of which had a motor disability (five boys and four girls) participated in the study. A quasi-experimental design contemplating an A-B model (before-after) and including the development of a formative intervention between both phases was implemented. To value the incidence of this intervention on self-concept we employed the AF5 standardized questionnaire of self-concept (García & Musitu, 2001), which was administered to all students in the two phases of an investigation that was developed throughout an academic course. The results show that while in students without motor disabilities stability is observed in the evolution of the self-concept mean scores, a significant improvement of all dimensions of the same is observed in students with motor disability and, to a greater extent, in the physical self-concept. This suggests that those students are sensitive to an inclusive teaching intervention that favors their active and significant participation in motor tasks.

The article presents a review of approaches and methodologies in the evaluation of STD/AIDS prevention programs, searching for theoretical and methodological support for the institutionalization of evaluation and decision-making. The review included the MEDLINE, SciELO, and ISI Web of Science databases and other sources like textbooks and congress abstracts from 1990 to 2005, with the key words: "evaluation", "programs", "prevention", "STD/AIDS", and similar terms. The papers showed a predominance of quantitative outcome or impact evaluative studies with an experimental or quasi-experimental design. The main use of evaluation is accountability, although knowledge output and program improvement were also identified in the studies. Only a few evaluative studies contemplate process evaluation and its relationship to the contexts. The review aimed to contribute to the debate on STD/AIDS, which requires more effective, consistent, and sustainable decisions in the field of prevention.

PurposeMediators' impartiality and empathy are two classical factors in the parties' trust in mediators. However, mediators are often torn between being impartial and being empathetic. The aim of this paper is to explore this empirically.Design/methodology/approachThis study empirically tests the strategic use of caucus to improve the interaction between impartiality and empathy by splitting them into two phases: impartiality in joint sessions and empathy in caucus.FindingsThe strategy did create significant synergy between impartiality and empathy with the main impact of reducing the time needed to reach an agreement.Research limitations/implicationsAll research data come from workplace mediation and from the same organization. Although it can be reasonably postulated that the results can be generalized to other mediation settings, this remains to be proven.Practical implicationsWhen mediators use the trust caucus strategy, impartiality and empathy work better together and parties put more weight on empathy than on impartiality. While the use of the trust caucus does not increase the likelihood of reaching agreement, it does significantly decrease the time needed to conclude an agreement.Originality/valueThe study uses a quasi‐experimental design to test its hypothesis. Furthermore, the study uses real mediation cases.

The adaptation of sports equipment seeks to adjust the learning environment to students’ characteristics. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of adapting the basket height on the execution and decision-making of technical–tactical skills, self-efficacy, cooperation, and students’ perception in a basketball unit. A quasi-experimental design with a control group, pre-test, and post-test was carried out in an eight-session basketball unit. The control group completed the tasks with a basket height of 3.05 m, and the experimental group completed the tasks with a basket height of 2.80 m. The execution and decision-making involved in passing, shooting, and one-on-one situations, students’ self-efficacy, and cooperation were assessed before and after the basketball unit. Students’ perception was assessed throughout the basketball unit. The use of an adapted basket height promoted better execution, more occurrence, and more efficacy for shooting, as well as an increase in the specific individual self-efficacy. The use of the standard basket height involved different technical and tactical solutions by the students as well as an increase in the occurrence and efficacy in one-on-one situations. The students in the control group did not increase their specific individual self-efficacy. The scaled equipment resulted in more variability in the solutions performed by the students (balance between shooting and one-on-one actions).
