Data analyzed with Clark and Scott's survival mechanism theory and the adaptive strategy by Miles and Snow. The result of this research was in the aspect of defender strategy, traditional retailers did various strategies when prices went up, and instead of increased the prices they choosed to reduce the profits. The stores equipped with people daily needs to retain customers. Even though the stock was small, the items sold were complete. It was important to promote family relations with buyers. A striking aspect is the close family relation that was so different from modern retail stores. In the aspect of reactor strategy, the owners responded to the situation without having a long-term strategy design. Their store’s responses were reactive and short-term oriented in the form of selling goods by following the tastes of buyers and current trends. Meanwhile, in carrying out business performance in connection with the survival mechanism, Surabaya traditional retailers met the business assessment of the Islamic perspective namely on the aspects of material, mental, spiritual, and fraternal.

The Significance of Family relations to Informal Carers’ Needs in interaction with Health Services

This article is based on a study aiming to explore informal carers’ needs and experiences in their contact with health services. The study was accomplished in 2011 and consisted of two sub-studies: a survey addressing informal carers in general and a focus-group study, where the participants were informal carers to one or more family members. In this article, the qualitative data from both studies are emphasised: the open written statements in the questionnaires and the focus-group interviews. The results show a similarity in informal carers’ needs and experiences independent of the patients’ diagnoses. However, we find that the needs are related to the family relation between the informal carer and patient. Particularly, there is a difference between the needs of those who are informal carers to their partner and those who care for their own parent(s) or grown children. The value of informal carers’ support also is clearly pointed out in the results. Our findings highlight the importance of professional health workers paying attention to both the informal carer and the patient, individually as well as relationally.

In Indonesia, marriage still serves the only legal institution of family formation. However, at least since 1950s, the pattern of mate selection to expectedly end up in marriage has undergone a silent transformation from the traditional arranged to self-choice. Following the transition, two major cultural trends termed: pacaran and ta’aruf rise as popular ways of young Indonesian Muslims finding their life partner. This study would examine how the changing pattern of mate selection took place in Indonesia and how, under an influence of Giddens’ modernization theory, increasing cultural trends of mate selection were elaborated. Ethnographic evidence provided by previous research was presented. Current trends of mate selection were discussed. The analysis incorporated dimensions of family relations and gender differences to see how much those two aspects influenced the process of spouse choice in Indonesia. The study found that the two most-contested ideals of spouse choice in Indonesia were adopted from ‘traditions’ already existing in other part of the world. However, in the modern Indonesian context, to fully understand how these two emerge and currently contested cannot by simply mentioning a process of globalization without taking into account a complex social and political policy happening particularly during the last century.

The article is sanctified to the application of the principle of ensuring the best interests of the child in the cases of recovery of alimony at the present stage of development of Ukrainian society. It is determined that the regulation of family relations with the participation of the child is increasingly focused on ensuring the best interests of the child. This principle also includes an element of the child's material security, which should be understood as the child's right to protection and care, which are necessary to provide material needs. The obligation of material support of the child is the responsibility of the state, which independently chooses the measures that will be used to achieve this goal.In Ukraine, the main responsibility for the child's financial support lies with the parents. The obligation to maintain the child is fulfilled by the parents voluntarily or compulsorily (by paying alimony). Alimony is accrued within the financial means of the parents, considering the living conditions necessary for the child's development. After analyzing the latest updates in the legislation of Ukraine, the author found that the legislator is taking active measures to properly regulate the issue of alimony. However, the quality of the introduced norms is not always at the proper level, which leads to conflicts in their application. By interpreting the principle of ensuring the best interests of the child in some cases, the court has the opportunity to close such gaps. However, in other cases, such efforts by the court are futile, as a result conflicts arising from the application of such rules do not find an effective solution. It only hinders the solution of the issue of providing the child with the necessary material support In opinion of author, the legislator should work to eliminate the problems listed in the article, and further improve the quality of the proposed rules in family law. Such norms should have not only a legitimate purpose, which is to ensure the interests of the child, but also an effective implementation mechanism. Otherwise, it will not bring the desired benefits and generate ambiguous case law, which is harmful. Keywords:the principle of ensuring the best interests of the child, alimony, family law relations.

Changes in the business environment requires that a company adopts a more adaptive strategy. A business strategy is not just about planning, but it needs to be supported with meaningful information. Management accounting complements a business strategy by providing crucial information, not just limited to cost efficiency, but customer satisfaction and quality management. However, the adoption of management accounting practices (MAPs) is believed to be influenced by strategy. Using the Miles and Snow (1978) business strategy typology model, this study examined the influence of business strategy on the adoption of MAPs, focusing on how the different types of business strategies used in organizations may influence the adoption of MAPs. Data was collected from manufacturing companies in Malaysia. The result showed that most Malaysian manufacturing companies utilized three major classifications of strategies, i.e., defender, prospector, analyzer, and only a few were classified as reactors. The result showed that the adoption level of both traditional and advanced MAPs is also high. Findings from this study indicated an influence of the defender and analyzer types towards adopting traditional MAPs, whereas the prospector type had influenced the adoption of advanced MAPs. Keywords: management accounting practices, business strategy, defender, prospector, analyzer, reactor

The question if family relations can be deemed as a subject of a personal right effective erga omnes has been considered in Polish jurisprudence and judgments of different courts including the Supreme Court since 2010. In 2018 there was a breakthrough in this debate of great theoretical and practical significance. On March 27, 2018, the Supreme Court of Poland passed three resolutions in extended benches (7 judges) in which it was confirmed that family relations are recognized as a subject of a personal right and that their protection is effective erga omnes. The Supreme Court said also that pecuniary compensation for infringement of family relations which are subject to a personal right can be granted not only in case someone caused that a person – party to a family relation – is dead, but also that the person is seriously and permanently injured. The question of recognition family relation as a subject of a personal right and that their protection is effective erga omnes is very controversial in the jurisprudence of civil law. The controversies are discussed in this paper. The author of this paper does not consider the controversies as enough to question the general idea of recognition of family relations as a subject to a personal right (erga omnes). The author of this paper shares the general view of the Supreme Court (Civil Chamber) presented in the resolutions passed on March 27, 2018, provided to some minor critical remarks. However, it should be pointed out that on October 22, 2019, the Supreme Court (Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs Chamber) passed the resolution in an extended bench (7 judges) in which the admissibility of recognizing family relations as a subject to a personal right (erga omnes) has been questioned. It means that this question is to be resolved by the joint chambers of the Supreme Court.

What is the relationship between Strategic Planning and Company Performances in Chinese companies? Is there a correlation between Company Performance and the Strategies adopted by these companies, using the Miles and Snow model for Aggressiveness Strategies? And is it possible to say something more about what kind of Strategic Planning gives better Company Performances? We wanted to separate here between the Planning which is related to what is called Competitive Intelligence and other activities related to Planning. The Idea was to be able to say something about the importance of Competitive Intelligence. We also wanted to use more extensive statistical analysis with more variables in light of the criticisms that has been raised about the methodology of previous studies. We found that better planning had a positive effect on a number of key business performance measures. We found that there was indeed a distinction between the different strategies selected and Company Performance. The strategy type named Reactors performed systematically less well than companies who choose one of the other strategies. Moreover we found that there were differences between different planning activities and Company Performance and that activities related to Competitive Intelligence were on the average more important for Company Performance than other Planning activities.

Utilizaram-se os seguintes descritores controlados “family relations AND pregnant women AND surveys AND questionnaires”.

Living in a household with a parent exhibiting depressive symptoms causes major disruptions in family relations, particularly between parent and child, and radically changes family life spaces. In this study, we integrated a place-based approach to interpretative phenomenological analysis to examine the subjective experiences of “feeling-at-home” among children living in households with parents exhibiting depressive symptoms. Using accounts obtained from photo elicitation interviews with seven participants, four key findings show the experience of “feeling-at-home” as (1) navigating emotional turmoil evoked through black holes and comfort rooms, (2) managing “being together” evoked through walls and dining tables, (3) overcoming fear evoked through terraces and flowers, and (4) seeing hope in what is (left of) home (somewhere). Main discussion highlights the spatial constitution in phenomenological research, children’s agency within volatile and “immovable” households, and changing spaces of emotional scarring.
