AbstrakPenelitian ini berawal dengan adanya kecurigaan peneliti terhadap peran kajian bahasa Arab dalam pembentukan karakter santri di Pondok Pesantren dengan memotret kegiatan berbahasa Arab di Pondok Pesantren terutama pada Pondok Pesantren modern dan Pondok Pesantren konvensional (salafi). Fokus utama analisis adalah penggunaan bahasa Arab serta aktifitas berbahasa Arab baik di dalam maupun diluar kelas.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, pembelajaran bahasa Arab dapat membantu pembentukan karakter santri secara berkesinambungan dengan ditopang oleh kehadiran sistem dan corak pembelajaran bahasa Arab di Pondok Pesantren. Corak dan sistem tersebut membentuk karakter santri, diantaranya karakter komunikatif, disiplin, relegius dan beretika, toleran dan bertanggungjawab, kemandirian dan percaya diri, serta penghargaan.Kata kunci:      Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab, Pembentukan Karakter, Pondok PesantrenAbstractThis study began with the researchers' suspicion of the role of Arabic studies in shaping the character of students in the Islamic Boarding School by photographing Arabic activities in the Boarding School especially in modern Boarding School and conventional Boarding School (Salafi). The main focus of the analysis is the use of Arabic and Arabic language activities both inside and outside the classroom.The results showed that, learning Arabic could help the formation of the character of students in a sustainable manner supported by the presence of Arabic learning systems and patterns in Pondok Penatren. The patterns and systems form the character of the santri, including communicative, disciplined, religious and ethical character, tolerant and responsible, independence and confidence, and appreciation.Keywords:        Learning Arabic, Forming Characters, Islamic Boarding Schools

One of the great traditions in Islamic education institutions in Indonesia is teaching by transmitting Islamic values as found in classical books written centuries ago. The majority in Indonesia, the classic book is better known as the Kitab Kuning. Teaching with the Kitab Kuning is usually done in Islamic Boarding Schools. Examining Kitab Kuning requires qualified Arabic language skills at least passively. Unfortunately, not all Islamic boarding schools that have a variety of superior programs in certain fields, are weak in the field of studying Kitab Kuning. One of them is the Islamic Boarding School Mu'allimin Muhammadiyyah Sawah Dangka which has the flagship Tahfizh Alquran program but is weak in the study of Kitab Kuning. One of the main factors is the lack of adequate quality of human resources. For this reason, this community service activity aims to provide training while introducing new, lightweight methods in learning Arabic, namely the Bihaqatil Jumal method. This method emphasizes learning Arabic using the right brain. After a series of community service activities, teachers and Islamic boarding schools felt helped and gained new experiences in learning Arabic methods to study Kitab Kuning. In addition, both the assisted object and the resource person requested that this kind of community service be continued.

The development plan of the Islamic Boarding School in the middle of the times it is not impossible to do. As the oldest educational institutions in Indonesia, Islamic Boarding School is an educational institution that is civilized. The development of Islamic boarding school can be done through two aspects; boarding school as an educational unit and boarding school as a place of education units. Islamic Boarding School as an educational unit in the form of Muaddalah Islamic Boarding School while boarding school as a place of education unit is a main unit of doing other educational institutions. Development of the Islamic Boarding School can also be developed through the role of Islamic Boarding Schools that do not merely act as an educational institution, but also serves as a social institutions and economic institutions of society.

da'wah in Indonesia. In addition, Islamic boarding schools are defined as sustainable ritual institutions, moral development institutions, as covering Islamic Education. It is also as social institutions that have experienced various life variations; which is adjusted to the burden of growth of the community in the midst of the pesantren. This research is intended to describe the history  and the social changes of the  communities of the Al-Ishlah Sidamulya Astanajapura Cirebon Islamic Boarding School. It is also to describe the role of the Boarding School in fostering the lives of the community around the pesantren. This study uses historical history studies. The results of this study indicated that the Al-Ishlah Sidamulya Islamic Boarding School is one of the pesantren which has an important role in matters relating to the Sidamulya community; in religious, educational, social and economic fields of the communities. The social changes happen in the communities are malima activity (the thief, main, madat, mabok, madon) changed to salima (shubuh, dhuhur, ashar, maghrib and isya). In addition, planting the values of Islam to show the real Muslim through routine tarikat (Tijaniyah), activities of manakiban, tahlilan and tadarrusan.

Islamic Boarding School education (Pesantren) began to be in great demand by the community as a place for formal and informal education. The main attraction of pesantren education is the embeded of character and religious knowledge which cannot be obtained in formal education. The application of Islamic character habituation applied to the daily life of students (santri) in Islamic boarding schools cannot be separated from the role of Kyai, Nyai as well as ustadz and ustadzah. The pattern of parenting and social development applied to students aims to change the students characters into virtuous characters in accordance with Islamic concepts. The habituation of Islamic character is carried out through the daily activities of students in Islamic boarding schools. This research with a theoretical approach tries to analyze the concept of parenting and social development of adolescents applied in Islamic boarding schools. The results of this study indicate that Parenting at Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School uses democratic parenting. The role of Kyai and Nyai as role models and mentors is a form of embodiment of religious characters. The application of discipline in the Islamic Boarding School did by using democratic and responsible parenting approach. ABSTRAKPendidikan Pondok Pesantren (Pesantren) mulai banyak diminati oleh masyarakat sebagai wadah pendidikan formal maupun informal. Daya tarik utama pendidikan pesantren adalah tertanamnya budi pekerti dan ilmu agama yang tidak dapat diperoleh dalam pendidikan formal. Penerapan pembiasaan karakter Islami yang diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari santri (santri) di pondok pesantren tidak lepas dari peran Kyai, Nyai serta ustadz dan ustadzah. Pola asuh dan pengembangan sosial yang diterapkan pada siswa bertujuan untuk mengubah karakter siswa menjadi karakter yang berbudi luhur sesuai dengan konsep Islam. Pembiasaan karakter islami dilakukan melalui aktivitas keseharian santri di pondok pesantren. Penelitian dengan pendekatan teoritis ini mencoba menganalisis konsep pola asuh dan perkembangan sosial remaja yang diterapkan di pondok pesantren. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Pola asuh di Pondok Pesantren Darunnajah menggunakan pola asuh demokratis. Peran Kyai dan Nyai sebagai suri tauladan dan pembimbing merupakan salah satu bentuk perwujudan karakter religius. Penerapan disiplin di Pondok Pesantren dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan pola asuh yang demokratis dan bertanggung jawab.

Islamic boarding schools are Islamic educational institutions that focus on moral education. Islamic boarding schools at this time were divided into ancestor and modern boarding schools. There are differences in the curriculum and learning models of Arabic in the two pesantren. Salaf Islamic boarding schools have a special curriculum in understanding the understanding of Islam. Learning Arabic in the Salaf Islamic boarding school is oriented towards grammatical learning by memorizing the terms nahwu and shorof and memorizing nadhom. While the Arabic language learning curriculum in modern pesantren aims not only for religious scholarship, but aims to use all language skills in communication. This Islamic boarding schools believes that language learning activities must provide students the ability to communicate correctly, both in oral and written form.

The objectives of this study are 1) To determine the role of the yellow book on the formation of Islamic education thought in traditional Islamic boarding schools. 2) To find out the role of the yellow book in forming the character of students in traditional Islamic boarding schools. This research is a descriptive qualitative research type, and through the Education and Sociological approaches. The research location was conducted in two Islamic boarding schools, namely Bany Syafi'I Cilegon and Madarijul 'Ulum Serang. In this study the research subjects were Kiai, Ustadz / Ustadzah, board of pesantren, and santriwan / santriwati of Islamic boarding school. The research subjects used purposive sampling technique, namely determining the source of the data obtained with certain considerations and snowball sampling, namely determining the sample from a small amount to become large. When the research was carried out on August 1, 2019 to October 25, 2019 for 3 months. The role of the yellow book in shaping the character of students in the Bany Syafi'i and Madarijul 'Ulum Islamic boarding schools is still visible in terms of santri obedience to their teachers, ta'dziman wa takriman attitude towards their knowledge and also towards their environment, all of which can be assessed and formed from the results Uswatun Hasanah's attitude is a teacher / kiai. And also the role of the yellow book in shaping the character of students can obey and obey a student in accordance with what is taught by a teacher, with the demands of the book ta'limul muta'alim as the main reference and provision of the main character of the students in the Islamic boarding school, so that with good character it will create good personality and discipline too.

The objective of the study was to analyze the role of islamic boarding school in preventing radicalism in Rejang Lebong regency. The study used qualitative approach with descriptive method. The data collection was done though interview, documentation and observation. The result showed that in playing the role, islamic boarding school recently became the target of people's distrust: this was the place of radicalism and terrorism. According to the analysis, there was no school found as the place of radicalism and terrorism. Some schools even actively prevent radicalism and terrorism effectively. In conclusion, the role of islamic boarding schools in Rejang Lebong to prevent radicalism and terrorism through the tight control was effective. This study aims to analyze the role of the Riyadhul Jannah Islamic Boarding School in community economic empowerment in Pacet Village, Mojokerto. This study uses a qualitative research approach to understand phenomena about what is experienced by research subjects, such as subjects, perceptions, motivations, actions, and so forth. The results showed that the Riyadhul Jannah Islamic boarding school had a role in community empowerment around the boarding school. The role of Islamic boarding schools is shown by the activities of the business units of PT. Rijan Dinamis Selaras which involve communities around the boarding schools so that the benefits can be felt directly by the people of Pacet Village and its surroundings.Keywords: Economic Empowerment, Islamic Business, Islamic Communities

ABSTRAKPoskestren merupakan upaya meningkatkan derajat kesehatan santri dipondok pesantren dengan mengutakan upaya promotif dan preventif dalam perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat adalah mengoptimalkan pos kesehatan pesantren untuk meningkatkan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat bagi santri di lingkungan pondok pesantren Darul Muttaqin Cibarusa-Bekasi. Pendekatan pada pengabdian masyarakat berbasis penggerakan peran masyarakat pesantren untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, sikap, perilaku dengan membentuk kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan kader pos kesehatan pesantren sebanyak 15 orang dengan metode cerama, diskusi dan praktek langsung. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat terbentuknya program pos kesehatan pesantren dengan tahapan input, proses, output. This article focused on the efforts of Kiai Haji Dr. Idham Khalid as a leader in the Pesantren Normal Islam Amuntai South Kalimantan. He leads the pesantren in the context that the society need of renewal efforts of Islamic educational aspects in the midst of the country's struggle for independence. This research is important because the Islamic boarding school (pesantren) Rasyidiyah Khalidiyah Amuntai South Kalimantan until today remains maintaining its tradition and at the same time developing it with normal Islam conception to perpetuate it as one madrasah under the largest Pesantren in South Kalimantan. This study used literature and interview as methods. The paper finds that the role of Kiai Haji Dr. Idham Chalid in educational reform at boarding schools occurs by changing its dynamics through proposed and evolutive forms. The forms are: a conservative at the initial phase; reformative in the middle of his leadership and transformative in the period of Pesantren Rasyidiyah Khalidiyah. These findings are based on a number of aspects of education being examined, they are: the aspect of the pesantren education goals by analysing the dynamic of the curriculum, and the flexible aspect by examining its persistency in maintaining classical books of Islam. The latter is to maintain the tradition of moderate clerics in the reproduction of Madrasah (schooling) by integrating the classical books and the modern literatures. Organizational survival strategy was developed by diversifying the variants of boarding school institutions which is influenced by Kyai’s leadership using synergy and collaboration approach to prepare with cadre for organizational sustainability.
