This study was conducted to evaluate the reproductive potential of native chickens by examining the correlation between body weight and spermatozoa motility. The correlation analysis results obtained a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.475. The results in this research was a significant value of 0.196>0.05 means that statistically, there is a relationship between body weight and spermatozoa motility. Still, the correlation between body weight and spermatozoa is weak. Bodyweight gain is one parameter that can be used as a production standard. Based on the results studied, it can be concluded that there is a relationship with the correlation value between body weight and spermatozoa motility of male cocks with BSF Magot feeding.

Ethanol can damage the liver, indicated by an increase of alanin amino transaminase (ALT) activity and aspartat amino transminase (AST) activity in the blood of alcohol-treated rats. Coffee is rich in antioxidants which are hepatoprotector agent. This study aimed to determine the effect of coffee to reduce alanin amino transaminase (ALT) activity and aspartat amino transminase (AST) activity in blood serum of alcohol-treated rats. The study used 32 male wistar albino rats (200±20g weight) which were divided into four treatment groups i.e. P0 (negative control which were treated with 1 mL of 30% ethanol/200g body weight (bw)/day), P1 (1 mL of 30% ethanol/200 g bw/day + coffee 0,1g/200g bw in 3,5 mL of water/200 g bw/day), P2 (1 mL of 30% ethanol/200g bw + coffee 0,15 g/200g bw in 3,5 mL of water/200g bw/day), dan P3 (1 mL of 30% ethanol/200g bw + coffee 0,2g/200g bw in 3,5 mL of water/200g bw/day). ALT and AST levels were measured by spectrophotometric method. Data analysis was done by ANOVA followed with LSD test and correlation analysis. The results showed that coffee reduced (P<0.01) the activities of ALT and AST of rats blood serum. ALT and AST activities were significantly different (P<0.01) among treatments and with control. Dose of coffee was negatively correlated with ALT activity with correlation coefficient (R) -0.978 and AST with correlation coefficient (R) -0.985 (P<0,01). The lowest of ALT and AST activities were found at dose of coffee 0.2 g/200g body weight. Keywords: ethanol, ALT, AST, coffee

Capsaicinoid content, among other factors, affects the perception of spiciness of commercial kimchi. Here, we investigated whether the physicochemical properties of kimchi affect the spicy taste of capsaicinoids perceived by the tasting. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to evaluate the capsaicinoid content (mg/kg) of thirteen types of commercial kimchi. The physicochemical properties such as pH, titratable acidity, salinity, free sugar content, and free amino acid content were evaluated, and the spicy strength grade was determined by selected panel to analyze the correlation between these properties. Panels were trained for 48 h prior to actual evaluation by panel leaders trained for over 1000 h according to the SpectrumTM method. Partial correlation analysis was performed to examine other candidate parameters that interfere with the sensory evaluation of spiciness and capsaicinoid content. To express the specific variance after eliminating the effects of other variables, partial correlations were used to estimate the relationships between two variables. We observed a strong correlation between spiciness intensity ratings and capsaicinoid content, with a Pearson’s correlation coefficient of 0.78 at p ≤ 0.001. However, other specific variables may have influenced the relationship between spiciness intensity and total capsaicinoid content. Partial correlation analysis indicated that the free sugar content most strongly affected the relationship between spiciness intensity and capsaicinoid content, showing the largest first-order partial correlation coefficient (rxy/z: 0.091, p ≤ 0.01).

The aim of this study was to evaluate interrelationships of body weight and bone weight and densitometric properties of the tibiotarsus in White Koluda Geese (W31) in the post-hatching period. The study was performed using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) and peripheral quantitative computed tomography (pQCT) at two different parts of tibia: proximal metaphysis and mid-diaphysis. The investigation was performed on 100 bones obtained from males and females at the age of 1, 14, 28, 42 and 56 days of life. All the calculations were performed using the Statistica 9.0 software (StatSoft, Inc. Tulsa, USA). Pearson’s correlation coefficient of body weight and bone weight with all the investigated variables of bone was determined. Depending on the method used for densitometric measurements – DEXA or pQCT, the current study has revealed significant differences in the number of correlations of bone weight and body weight with the evaluated densitometric parameters. Sex-related differences in the investigated interrelationships were also found. In the case of proximal epiphysis, negative correlations of vBMD, tBMC, CTR_DEN and CRT_CNT with body weight and bone weight dominated in one-day-old males. Based on the current observations and the negative correlations of body weight and vBMD, CRT_DEN and TRAB_DEN obtained in the mid-diaphysis of tibiotarsus at the age of 14 days of life, it was concluded that this bone is much more prone to deformations and fractures in males than in females.

Introduction Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (KNF) is a malignant squamous cell tumor occurring in the nasopharyngeal epithelial region where the cuboid epithelium is transformed into squamous cells. One of the typical signs of malignancy is uncontrolled cell proliferation. K67 is an immunohistochemical (IHC) test to assess cell proliferation activity. Increased Ki67 expression is associated with increased mitotic activity in cell proliferation. Objective To determine the correlation of ki67 expression to regional and distant metastases events of nasopharyngeal carcinoma at KNF in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted on 31 subjects of KNF patients who had been diagnosed in Oncology Division of Department of Ear Nose and Throat Head Neck Surgery, then performed immunohistochemistry inspection of KI67 in Department of Anatomical Pathology of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. The subjects were collected consecutive sampling from October to December 2017 and performed other tests for staging such as computer tomography, chest x ray and abdominal ultrasound. Results In the Ki67 level correlation analysis of the incidence of metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma, the correlation coefficient was 0.98 with very strong correlation strength and the positive correlation was not statistically significant (p=0.599). However, in Ki67 level correlation analysis of histopathology result of nasopharyngeal carcinoma was found correlation coefficient of 0.385 and positive correlation which was statistically significant (p=0.032). Conclusion Ki67 levels of metastatic occurrence in nasopharyngeal carcinoma have no statistically significant correlation. However, Ki67 level on histopathological results of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and Ki67 immunoreactivity with primary tumor has a statistically significant correlation.

The correlation between greasy wool production per unit area, obtained by clipping and measuring an area of about 100 cm² on the midside, and greasy fleece weight at shearing was about 0.58. Wool production from such an area over periods of 7½ or 3½ months was almost as useful as production for 11 months for predicting greasy fleece weight. The multiple correlation coefficient between greasy fleece weight as the dependant variable and production per unit area and 11-months' body weight was 0.79 in 66 rams and 0.71 in 82 ewes. The inclusion of fold score did not improve prediction appreciably. The equation W = P/110 + B1 /12 may be used to predict greasy fleece weight (lb), W, where P is production over 11 months of greasy wool (mg/cm²) and B1 is 11-months' body weight (Ib). A table of this function is included so that values may be read directly. The technique may be a useful aid to selection of Merino sheep if recording of actual fleece weights is difficult or impossible. Nevertheless it should not be regarded as more than a moderately accurate substitute for actual fleece-weighing.

Phenotypic correlations between body weight, follicle characters, and fleece characters have been investigated in a flock of 95 fine-wool non-Peppin Merino wethers, reared in the same locality under the same conditions. The results indicated that three follicle characters, follicle chord, follicle depth, and the index of follicle bending, were independent of body weight. It was found, in agreement with the results of other workers, that body weight was highly correlated with both greasy and clean wool weights (r = 0.53 and 0.51 respectively). It was also found that follicle characters were significantly correlated with most of the fleece characters which contribute to the clean fleece weight per unit area of skin. The correlation coefficient of wool weight per unit area of skin with follicle chord was 0.33, with follicle depth 0.28, and with follicle bending index –0.35. The follicle characters were also correlated with greasy and clean fleece weights. Crimp number per inch was predicted for individual animals by using as criterion the length of the follicle chord. A highly significant correlation coefficient of 0.67 was obtained between predicted and observed crimp number. The close relationship between crimp chord and follicle chord reported in previous work was confirmed. It is suggested that simultaneous selection for body weight and certain follicle characters may have an additive effect on the production of clean wool. It is also suggested that the genetic antagonism between clean wool weight and number of crimps per inch can be explained in anatomical terms.
