In 2019, Bangladesh joined the ever-growing list of countries to recognize rivers as living entities with legal rights. The Bangladesh Rivers case is another example of advocacy from the Supreme Court in Bangladesh, and the article explores the relationship between the executive and the judiciary, and the ongoing role the judiciary has played in water law reform. The Court based its decision on a novel reading of the Constitution, linking the legal rights of the rivers to the public trust doctrine and the human right to a healthy environment. This foundation is itself potentially controversial, and the new legal status of the rivers may set their interests against those of the people who live along and rely upon them. By making comparisons between this case and similar decisions in India and Colombia, the Bangladesh Rivers case can be seen as part of the transnational movement to grant legal rights to rivers.

This study concerns the ad texts from the perspective of discourse structure. At a specific layer, it reveals the superstructure of a five-type public service advertisement text discourse taken from Youtube. The five advertisements in question are “Diet Kantong Plastik”, “Polusi Plastik Multimedia SMKN 1 Surabaya 2018/2019”, “Kampanye Sosial Menguragi Sampah Plastik”, “Kurangi Sampah Plastik” and “Polusi Sampah Plastik”. Achieving this goal was done by making use of a qualitative research design. The data were collected through several procedures namely finding, downloading, filtering, taking notes and researching the data to discover the text superstructure. Data were analyzed using padan method, or identity method. Then the results of data analysis are presented in the form of a description. The study addresses the issue of discourse structure with the superstructure (Dijk, 1980) theory approach. The results of the data analysis showed that each adver- tisement had four sequences of structures, namely introduction, body, closing and conclusion. These four com- ponents are the ones that form the fifth superstructure of the public service advertisements reviewed in this paper. By chance a service advertisement is indeed of many analysable aspects. The present study is only re- stricted to plastic trash community service ads on Youtube. However, public service announcements or adver- tisements can also be obtained from other electronic media such as TV or radio and from the print media. For the futher studies, it is necessary to explore the community service advertisements on plastic waste that are displayed through these media.

Burning forest as one method to clear land has made many losses not only to the welfare of the people in Indonesia, but also to the environment. However, studies examined these issues from the perspectives of the government’s laws, the Islamic Law and the business ethics have been limited. For that reason, this study aims at discussing the perspectives of the government’s law, the Islamic law and business ethics toward forest burning as a method to land clearing. The method used is by undertaking doctrinal research. The sources of the data were from primary and secondary legal materials. The study found that there have been government’s laws and regulations to ban forest burning activity. These laws include the Law No. 32 of 2009 on the Protection and Environmental Management, the Law No. 41 of 1999 on Forestry, the Law No. 18 Year 2013 on the Prevention and Eradication of forest destruction, and the Law No. 39 of 2014 on Plantations to name only four laws. The Islamic law has given guidance to human beings in managing the natural resources. These guidance have been highlighted in Surah Albaqarah 2:30 and Surah Al-Ghashiyah 88:17. Also, it is argued that compliance with the existence of business ethics will be a strong reason for the establishment of a close relationship between the company and the community. The public will be very pleased with the company in running its operations in accordance with business ethics. For this reason, it is suggested that the business plantations and other corporations  should comply with the business ethics. This aims simply to maintain harmony between business activities and the nature. So that, the corporations will be able to sustain their business activities, while at the same time the people will have certainty to have healthy environment.

The issue of "white pollution" at popular tourist destinations of environmental pollution is rising at an alarming rate. According to statistics, Vietnam currently ranks fourth in the world in volume of plastic waste, with approximately 730,000 tons of plastic waste going to the sea every year. Vietnam is also known as a country with twice the amount of plastic waste compared to low-income countries. Plastic waste in the ocean will destroy the natural environment, negatively affecting the lives of aquatic products. On land, plastic waste is abundant in many places and has serious impacts on human health and life. Analysts point out that, if the pace of use of plastic products continues to increase, there will be an additional 33 billion tons of plastic produced by 2050 and thus more than 13 billion tons of plastic waste will be buried. backfill into landfills or into the ocean. Meanwhile, the recycling of Vietnam's plastic waste, has not been developed. The rate of waste sorting at the source is very low, most types of waste are put together and collected by waste trucks. Plastic recycling technology used in Vietnam's major cities is outdated, low in efficiency, high in costs and polluting the environment. The paper presents the current situation of plastic waste in Vietnam as of June 2019. The authors focus on highlighting the serious "white pollution" in Vietnam, a country with a very long coastline. But the coast is really threatened by plastic waste. This is really a wake-up call to the authorities about the promulgation of policies and the people on the morality of survival with nature.
