Статья посвящена изучению стилистических особенностей произведений современного литературного процесса на материале романов Маргарет Этвуд “The Blind Assassin”, Анны Бернс “Milkman” и Хилари Мантел “Giving up the Ghost”. В данной работе отмечается, что литература служит некоего рода лакмусовой бумажкой, запечатлевающей и отражающей всеобщее стремление к упрощению языка, его отдельных единиц и синтаксических структур. По мнению исследователей, подобные тенденции приводят к упрощению не только устных форм языка, но и языка художественной прозы, тем самым понижая ее эстетическую значимость и культурологический статус. В статье описывается процедура общефилологического анализа художественного текста и его основные методы. Среди исследователей нет единого мнения относительно поэтичности литературных произведений и роли в ее формировании различных языковых единиц. Некоторые ученые рассматривают тропы как один из обязательных элементов любого художественного текста, представляя их как нечто независимое и существующее даже в изоляции от текстового пространства. Согласно другому мнению, формирование стилистических приемов обусловлено взаимодействием языковых единиц, которые, лишь попадая в структуру текста, приобретают несвойственные им ранее образность и метафоричность. Проведенный филологический анализ материала исследования позволил опровергнуть распространенное мнение о крайнем обеднении стилистического потенциала современных англоязычных романов и установить, что задачей авторов современного литературного процесса является создание текстов, чья стилистическая организация не только сохранит статус литературы как искусства слова, но и сможет приблизить произведение к описываемой действительности. The article is devoted to the study of stylistic peculiarities of the literary works of the modern literary process on the material of the novels “The Blind Assassin” by Margaret Atwood, “Milkman” by Anna Burns and “Giving up the Ghost” by Hilary Mantel. The article notes that literature serves as some sort of a touchstone depicting and reflecting the universal desire to simplify the language, its separate units and syntactic structures. According to scientists, such tendencies lead to simplification of both oral speech and literary prose, which understates its esthetic value and cultural status. The article describes the procedure of philological analysis of a literary text and its basic methods. There is no common opinion on the poetry of literary works and on what role linguistic units play in its creation among scientists. Some researchers consider tropes one of the essential elements of any literary work, viewing them as something independent and existing even in isolation from the text. Others believe that the formation of stylistic devices results from interaction of linguistic units, which acquire earlier extrinsic imagery and metaphorical character only in the structure of a text. The philological analysis of the research material made it possible to refute a widespread impression of utmost impoverishment of stylistic potential in modern English novels and to establish the aim of modern literary process writers, which is to create texts which stylistic organization will not only preserve the status of literature as the art of the word but will also be able to bring the text closer to the described reality.

This article describes the derivational potential of root word combinations belonging to the noun, adjective and verb groups in the English and Uzbek languages and their grammatical functional features on the basis of comparative-typological, comparative and distributive methods at the lexical and syntactic levels of the language. Structural models of derivation of verbs, nouns and adjectives in the English and Uzbek languages and their features are considered based on component analysis, as well as morphological factors that ensure the completeness of derivation, their distinctive and similar features in both languages, the role and importance in the formation of verbal compounds is analyzed in detail. The article also identifies the factors that ensure the transposition of root verbs, nouns and adjectives in English and Uzbek, and describes their structural-functional and contextual-semantic analysis at the required level. Until today’s period of development of linguistics, many problematic processes related to the language system have been studied and researched. This situation can be observed both in the context of world linguistics and in the context of Uzbek linguistics. Linguistics, like all sciences, is constantly evolving. Due to this, it is natural that there are still problematic processes in this sphere today. The fact that the phenomenon of derivation less researched in the context of root words can be related to such problems, because in both English and Uzbek linguistics the problem of derivation of root words is not studied at the required level. Any new word that exists in a language takes its initial form from speech, and thus the speech dependence of the word formed ends, because the next life of a derived word goes on in a language. That is, the derived word takes its place in the paradigm of its own analogical forms after being tested in social speech activity for a certain period of time. Only derivatives that have fully passed such tests will receive the status of a language unit and, like their other paradigms, will begin to function as a means of enriching the language with new constructions. It is well known that the derivational sequence of linguistic units cannot be fully understood only on the basis of grammatical research, because word formation in its extralinguistic basis is a product of speech activity. Since related words are considered not as a finished product of the language, but as a product of speech, since they are artificial words, in speech they are activated only in the form in which they are adapted for communication. In some places, depending on the need for speech, we can also observe cases where two or more related words are involved in the process of communication or in context. In this article, the works of English and Uzbek writers are selected as a source, as well as the degree of influence of the speech situation of both languages on the choice of words is studied and scientifically substantiated on the examples taken for analysis. As a result of syntactic-semantic analysis of root word combinations in the English language, on the basis of a detailed analysis, it was shown that root words can be combined with other words in speech, forming various models.

This article presents a library study of an approach of teaching literature that emphasizes on improving the students’ English language proficiency through literature and a practice of the approach in the classroom by using a literary work written by Anton Chekhov entitled ‘A Marriage Proposal’. The study aims at discussing   a theory of an approach for teaching literature which attempts to improve the students’ linguistic competence through literary works. The approach is chosen in accordance to Van (2009)’s review of the approaches to literary analysis, in this case by emphasizing on the approach for improving the students’ language skill through literature which is called Language-based Approach. This study also apply Lazar’s (1993) procedures of language-based approach which cover the pre-reading, while-reading, and post-reading activities.    Keywords: Language-Based technique, , literary works.

One importance of studying morphology in literary work is increase the vocabulary. Perhaps the biggest contributions to the English language of Shakespeare may be the addition of new words and phrases that have transformed the language and make it more vivid and descriptive. Shakespeare also changing nouns into verbs, verbs into adjectives, connecting words never used together, adding affixes, and devising words wholly original. This study aims to know how the words are formed through derivational and compounding process. In this paper, we take the data from some of William Shakespeare’s works. We use qualitative method by using morphological approach to analyze the data. Morphological approach focused on the identification and interpretation of the meaning of the words and the analysis  of the morphemes attached to the words.  We collect the data by downloading 11 of William Shakespeare's works, reading the words, selecting the data, and summarizing the data. Then, it’s followed by describing and determining the function of the morphemes and analyzing the change of the word class as techniques of analyzing the data.  The result of this study shows that for derivational process, affix  {-ish },  {-y },  {-less },  {-ate },  {-eous },  {fore- },  {pur- },  {fore- },  {-y }, and  {un- }  as adjectivalizer, affix  {-ify },  {en- },  {un- }, and  {fore- }  as verbalizer, and affix  {-er },  {-y }, and  {-ment },  as nominalizer. For compounding process, we found there are two types of compound word : hyphenated compound and closed compound.

Novel is one of literary works that is quite enjoyed by people. Novel has an important position in describing the reality of life through its storylines. One of them is Guru Aini novel by Andrea Hirata. The novel, which was just published in 2020, told about a teacher who workedin a remote island in Indonesia. The author's view of the teacher as an educator who could be represented by this literary work is constructed in a novel. Based on this, the study aimed to determine the representation of teachers in the Guru Aini novel by Andrea Hirata. The analysis in the research was conducted through the dimensions of literary psychology. The analysis in this study focused on the role of the teacher as an educator in a literary work. The results in this study indicated that the teacher in the novel Guru Aini by Andrea Hirata was represented in a positively charged construction. In this study, it was found that several teacher representations appeared in the novel, namely the representation of the teacher as an individual status, the representation of the teacher as the status of the teaching force, the representation of the teacher as an educator in the community, the representation of the psychological condition of the teacher, and the representation of the teacher's personality in the novel Guru Aini by Andrea Hirata.

India is a multilingual country which tends to encourage people to use English at national and international level. Basically English in India owes its presence to the British but its subsequent rise is not fully attributable to the British. It has now become the language of wider communication which is now spoken by large number of people all over the world. It is influenced by many factors such as class, society, developments in science and technology etc. However the major influence on English language is and has been the media.

This study examined the use of film media on Indonesian Language. The problem revealed was how is student learning outcomes, and what is the outcomes difference between learning to analyze the intrinsic elements of literary works using film media and using conventional learning approaches in class XI students of SMA N 1 Tumbang Titi. This type of research is experimental research. The design used was Post-test Only Control Group Design. Data analysis was done by normality test, homogeneity test, and t-test (Paired Simple t-Test). Data collection techniques in the form of tests. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that student learning outcomes analysis the intrinsic elements of literary works after being given conventional learning is 54.38 while student learning outcomes analyze the intrinsic elements of literary works after using film media is 71, 67. Besides, after analyzing the data statistically, the results show that there are significant differences between the learning outcomes of the material analyzing the intrinsic elements of literary work between those who use film media and conventional learning. Indonesian language learning material becomes the intrinsic elements of literature in class XI students of SMA N 1 Tumbang Titi using film media can also improve student learning outcomes and contribute to the scale of effectiveness of 32,64. Thus, learning with film media can be used by teachers in the field of learning Indonesian in analyzing intrinsic elements of literary works.Keywords: Utilization of Film Media, Intrinsic Elements of Literary Work

The article is concerned with the difference in understanding of the term ‘cosmopolitan’ inRussiaandFrance. Often considered a predominantly negative phenomenon inRussia, cosmopolitanism fi st provoked a discussion at the time when the emphasis shifted from ideology to understanding of the historical-literary process. Since the late 18th c., the idea of the possible existence of a literary work within the global literary environment (the concept of world literature)   was adjusted by the ‘golden chain’ metaphor, which enabled implementation of the ‘universality’ concept as a unity principally separate from the French idée universelle. During this evolutionary period emerged a distinctive subject of literary history: fi st, ‘humanity’ as a general term (initially identifi    with universalism or cosmopolitanism), and then ‘a nation’. But it is the discovery of the national that the author believes is connected with particularism and provincialism,   the latter summoning the memory of the noble intention of universalism and cosmopolitanism. An interim summary of the process was produced by Joseph Texte, a professor of comparative literature inLyon, at the end of the 19th c.

At the core of this publication are letters written by E. Livshits (1902–1987), the widow of B. Livshits, to her close friends: literary critic A. Deich (1893–1972), whom she knew ever since her Kiev days, and his wife E. Deich-Malkina (1919–2014). Kept at the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, this epistolary collection spans over 20 years, starting from 1967. Along with accounts of private circumstances, each letter contains accounts related to B. Livshits, Osip and Nadezhda Mandelstam, I. Nappelbaum, A. Shadrin, and others. At the same time, E. Livshits’ comments and descriptions of people and literary works are very lifelike and fascinating. On the whole, the reader gets a picture of the period and certain literary process, viewed by a sophisticated connoisseur rather than squinted at by an aging disenfranchised widow of an executed writer. The publication is prefaced by P. Nerler, who collected and prepared the book of letters and reminiscences of E. Livshits, to be printed by Elena Shubina Publishers (AST).

Abstract The term monumentum is used in Latin literature to describe a range of monuments across media, including temples, literary works, statues, and inscriptions. This article surveys the variety of monumenta in Livy’s Ab urbe condita, which range from the text itself to victory inscriptions and bronze sculptures meant to commemorate military as well as political achievements. The borders between historiography and physical artefacts are often blurred by Livy through inscriptional intermediality, a phenomenon defined as the mixing of visual and textual media. By outlining how Livy achieves this combination, and demonstrating how the specific ratio of literary, linguistic, and topographical features in his ekphrases generate unique impressions of real-world monuments, this chapter re-reads Livy’s history from the perspective of intermedial theory. This process not only advances our understanding of the Ab urbe condita as a literary work, but also thrusts individual aspects of Livy’s narrative technique – including visuality and unique formulae such as the introductory formula tabula … cum indice hoc posita est (Livy 41.28.8) – into the spotlight.

A good literary work can provide information about various kinds of community life,including life related to religiosity. Literary works are closely related to religisiutas,because of that, various works appearing showing the religiosity of society, one ofwhich is the Javanese. Modern Indonesian literary works that illustrate this are thecollection of short stories from Umi Kalsum by Djamil Suherman, the lyrical prosePengakuan Pariyem by Linus Suryadi AG, and the novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk byAhmad Tohari. Each of these works represents the diversity of Javanese society. Thecollection of short stories from Umi Kalsum shows the religious side of the communitycalled the santri who are so obedient in carrying out their worship. The lyrical proseof Pariyem's confession provides information on how a babu is so resigned to seeinglife, but in her soul holds the wisdom of Kejawen. Meanwhile, Ronggeng Dukuh Parukdescribes the Javanese people who worship the spirits of their ancestors. Even thoughthey have different religions, they basically want harmony. Javanese people who livein santri enjoy harmony when they live with strong Islamic values. The Javanesepeople of the Gunung Kidul area live in harmony if they are always nrimo and see lifeas it is according to its Javanese nature. The Dukuh Paruk community attainsharmony that originates from the worship of the spirit of Ki Secamenggala.
