In 1981, the mortar and mortar handicrafts became the livelihood of residents in Petung Wulung hamlet, Toyomarto village, Singosari sub-district. The purpose of this service is to provide waste benefits as an economic value for local residents. Therefore, the community service team planned a concept to use mortar waste as gabion and brojong stones. In addition, increasing the economic value of the waste will also increase the attractiveness of using mortar waste as a decoration in Toyomerto village in beautifying the environment. In this community service activity 4 (four) gabion or brojong designs were produced. Among them are cylindrical, tubular, and semi-spherical or circular with a conical top for planting media and plants. It also has its own offer for the villagers apart from being a decoration for the environment, as well as a typical souvenir from the village of Toyomarto. Plants that are chosen besides their aesthetics are those that can survive indoors and outdoors and do not require much water or a continuous watering process, for example plants of the Agavesiklok, Portulaca Grandiflora, Cactus and so on. The results of the implementation of this program were well received by the community and could improve the economy of Toyomarto Village.

The Covid-19 pandemic that hit Riau Province had an impact on the economy of the community, including the people of Palas Village. Apart from expecting financial assistance from the government, one of the opportunities that the Palas Village community can take advantage of to develop the village economy is to take advantage of the CSR programs of companies operating in Pelalawan Regency. This community service aims to explain the use of the company's CSR program to empower the community's economy during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method of implementation used in community service activities uses the lecture method accompanied by direct dialogue with the community. Based on Article 74 of Law Number 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies, it is stated that companies that carry out their business activities in the field of natural resources and / or fields related to natural resources are required to carry out CSR. The CSR program of PT RAPP that can be used by the people of Palas Village to build their economy is the Integrated Farming System program and the UMKM program. Before being given legal counseling, only 17.5% of the 20 participants knew the law regarding CSR. After being given legal education, there was an increase to 75% of the 20 participants who answered correctly. The implementation of community service activities in Watusipi Village was motivated by decreased community income during the pandemic period and the absence of creative efforts by the community to utilize the potential of human and natural resources in the village. It is hoped that the implementation of the KKN Mandiri for a month will provide assistance and build togetherness with village officials and the community to build creative business opportunities that can be done to improve the economic life of the community. One of the superior products of Watusipi village is coconut, so this service activity will be divided into two sub-activities, namely assistance in making coconut chips and assistance in marketing of coconut chips products. This assistance was carried out for three weeks with the target being mothers who are members of the Dasawisma. This chapter examines competing conceptions of sustainability and their implications for natural resource conservation across generations. Sustainability is a very popular concept, but there are many different positions on what might be called the “sustainability of what?” question. The chapter examines a number of competing views and shows how controversy here has informed the debate between so-called weak and strong conceptions of sustainability. It concludes with an examination of the politics of sustainability, and in particular the connections and possible tensions between goals of natural resource conservation and of global justice.
