Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the internationalization market of higher education (HE) globally and HE field. It examines the internationalization status of HE in Jordan as influenced by institutional perspectives as an example from developing countries. Design/methodology/approach This paper adopts a quantitative research design that includes a statistical and SWOT analysis of HE in Jordan. Data were collected from different courses: documents and archival records, websites analysis, surveys, interviews with professors and administrators, and an SWOT analysis as well as TOWS matrix. The latter has been constructed as a picture of internationalized education in the Jordan that can be used as a basis for decision making and strategies for higher education institutions (HEIs). Findings The study findings reveal that it is important for Jordan to endorse itself as an “education hub” in the Middle East and to educate its community to the level of skills required by globalization. The challenges of internationalizing HE are revealed by the SWOT analysis and TOWS matrix that highlight a wide range of opportunities and strengths that encourages the Jordan HE system to accelerate internationalization. The opportunities include overall improvement in the quality of education, the diffusion of technology and creating a globally competent workforce. The internationalization status in Jordan HE is still in its embryonic stage. The HE should take serious steps toward the internationalization including admission of international students, foreign postgraduate students, international accreditation, global ranking, online education and smart education. These steps will help the universities leaders to improve their universities position internationally and financially. Research limitations/implications The findings reveal implications for HE policy and strategy in the development of internationalized HE in the Jordan. The study shows how SWOT analysis and TOWS matrix can provide a solid platform against which particular case studies can be measured in terms of opportunities for and challenges of development. It also provides institutional perspectives with practical implications, focusing on some of the critical issues in this developing field for HE policy and strategy alike. A major threat to the Jordan progress in developing its HE sector identified in this study is external accreditation being seen as a signal of high quality, when more realistic standards are perhaps more relevant to the local population. Originality/value The paper is one of the very few studies in the area of the internationalization of HE in the Jordan that can contribute to the sustainability of the international dimension of HEIs. The opportunities and threats recognized in this paper can inform strategy for more balanced development of the Jordan’s internationalized HE, and for raising the quality of education overall.

Inheritance of local cultural values through formal education is an effort to prevent the entry of negative effects of globalization. For this reason, it is necessary to study which local values are worthy of being used as learning resources and to examine the effect of these learning resources on improving the quality of learning outcomes. Environmental wisdom as one of the cultural values that thrives in society has been able to make the natural environment remain sustainable. Environmental sustainability is certainly not only the needs of the education community, but the needs of all humanity. For this reason, institutionalizing local values is a non-negotiable need. Thus, the value of local culture, especially environmental wisdom is very important to make social studies more meaningful. The important meaning of learning resources for environmental wisdom in social studies education is that it can increase students' interest and learning passion and teachers as educators no longer make books and themselves as the most important learning resources so that they can cover their weaknesses.  Keywords: Environmental Wisdom as Learning Resources

The outbreak of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in various countries at the end of last year has transferred traditional face-to-face teaching to online education platforms, which directly affects the quality of education. Taking user satisfaction on online education platforms in China as the research object, this paper uses a questionnaire survey and web crawler to collect experience data of online and offline users, constructs a customer satisfaction index system by analyzing emotion and the existing literature for quantitative analysis, and builds aback propagation (BP) neural network model to forecast user satisfaction. The conclusion shows that users’ personal factors have no direct influence on user satisfaction, while platform availability has the greatest influence on user satisfaction. Finally, suggestions on improving the online education platform are given to escalate the level of online education during the COVID-19 pandemic, so as to promote the reform of information-based education.

Second, among the quality of online classes, class content and educational environment showed positive (+) influence on learning satisfaction. Third, learning immersion and learning satisfaction showed a positive influence on academic achievement. Fourth, in the direct effect of online class quality on academic achievement, it was analyzed that only class content had a positive (+) effect. Based on the results of this study, the provision of learning materials with detailed explanations was suggested in the online cooking practice class rather than providing a simple cooking video. In addition, it was suggested that as a way to improve academic achievement of online education, it is necessary to provide content that allows learners to immerse themselves in class, as well as class content and educational environment, and consider learning satisfaction.

This study aims to: (1) analyze the level of community participation in the development of ecotourism referrals; (2) analyze what factors are related to the level of community participation in the development of referred ecotourism; (3) analyze what strategies can be applied to increase community participation in the development of ecotourism referrals. The research method used in this research is descriptive method. The research was conducted in Kerujuk Hamlet, Mengala Village which was selected by purposive sampling with the consideration that the hamlet has an ecotourism program that involves the community. The determination of the number of respondents was determined by proportionate stratified random sampling using the Slovin formula and the number of respondents was determined to be 43 respondents. The collected data was then analyzed using a scoring system, Spearman rank correlation test analysis and SWOT analysis. The results showed that the level of community participation was included in the low category because community involvement was still lacking in all stages of activities carried out in an effort to develop ecotourism referrals. Factors related to the level of community participation are non-formal education (skills), income, length of stay and age. The strategy that can be applied in an effort to increase community participation is the WO strategy or weakness-opportunity, where cooperative efforts with the government or educational institutions are carried out to improve the quality of human resources to be more independent in managing creative and innovative referral ecotourism.
